How about Praetorian villains?
I've not gotten far enough with my villain to know if there are any canon opposites of Recluse et al., but would we be prohibited at say, making up a kindly, heroic form of Ghost Widow as a protagonist (or simply guest star)? -
Bandwagon? Check.
Jumping? Check.
Fad reference? Check.
Probability it's already been done: High.
All systems are predictable. -

Thanatos wouldn't realy compare to the Grim Reaper today, as the Grim Reaper supposedly plays a more active part in people's death, rather than just being the personification of Death itself. If anything, The Grim Reaper would resemble a combination of Atropos, the Fate who cut a persons thread of life when their time to die came, and Charon, who ferried the dead souls to the Underworld.

I think the whole mythology thing could be extrapolated to the rest of the CoH world, where the Surviving Eight each represent a god of Greeky Myth: For example, Synapse could represent Hermes, the wing-footed messenger of the gods;
Manticore = Apollo, God of the sun and archer type;
Ms Liberty: Athena, daughter of Zeus and goddess of Wisdom and War. Also from Wikipedia: "Athena is also a goddess associated with mentoring heroes.";
Back Street Brawler could be Heracles, or maybe Ares - both physically powerful deities.
A few of the others, I'm not sure about, but these are posibilities:
Sister Psyche = Aphrodite
Positron = Hephaestus
Numina = Artemis
Also, the whole Portal Corps story could be an adaptation of the Pandora's Box myth, where suffering was released upon mankind after something forbidden was opened.
Of course this could all be coincidence, since stories are repeated throughout history with the same basic roots; but with Statesman's background in the Classics, who knows? -
17/21, with at least 50% luck. I've never even heard of half the heroes/villains given as choices there.

Even mega-heroes feel the need to spend some influence at Icon too.
Just because the outfits are different, it doesn't mean they're different people. The one you recreated on the right is Back Alley Brawler as seen in trailers and posters as well as the manual and CoH loading screen (right at the back, on the right). You can see him on the flash banner at the top of these very forums too.
If he was some unknown hero, do you really think he'd make so many appearances? -
I think it might be the Icon thing that's the false one. Think about it, Icon provides costumes for heroes; if you're a villain, what chace do you have to get served in there?

So if the killer mimes all waited hidden in a meadow to ambush someone it'd be a mime field right?

Thats the only thing that bugs me. People have wanted Trenchcoats probably as long as they wanted capes, and the best objections people could come up with is "Boo, I hate Matrix!"
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, there's the dev's objection, which goes something along the lines of "Hell To Animate".
I could be wrong.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not so much hell to animate as they are hard to incorporate into current meshes without clipping issues.
They've got capes animated, trench coats wouldn't be much harder.
But ensuring people aren't wearing half their trench in their pants is another issue entirely.

I find it hard to believe someone would find nothing that they don't like in the new selection of costumes. Just because they're anime inspired isn't a reason to hate it all from the off. As someone else has said in another thread, anime is as broad a genre as Hollywood movies. Everyone's aware of the sterotypical schoolgirl uniform and huge mecha suits, and I fear that's all most people are expecting. But anime styles go beyond that.
Personally, I'll just be happy with anything they provide, seeing as we don't have to pay anything extra for it -

AMEN ANGUS!!!
Don't forget to mention that casual players pay the same amount of money as any power-gamer. THREE AT's suffer so ONE can feel challenged. You hit the nail on the head my friend. I have been posting this for 5 weeks on test.
[/ QUOTE ]
So if you want to play casually, but not have much of a problems soloing, don't pick a low dmg or low hp AT.
Bosses are supposed to be a challenge.
Controllers/Defenders aren't meant to solo efficiently. That's the whole point of different classes, complementing eachother. Some can solo well, but they still aren't as good as in a team. -
So uh, what AT is the OP again? If you're any of the ATs that weren't designmed specifically for soloing (Defender, Controller, and to some extent, Blaster), then you're meant to have trouble, even find it near-impossible to beat an even boss. Even Tanks and Scrapper should find them a challenge. That's the point of the "Boss" class.

Um, yes, PvP has been planned from the very beginning...

Hmm. A quick google shows that chapter 34 of "The Count of Monte Cristo" is called "The Colosseum"...
So maybe the chapter signifies the transition from issue 3 to 4?
PvP is a given, hence Colosseum, where the gladiators fought in Rome.
From what I read (I've never read the book before), The Count of Monte Cristo is a story about the revenge and hatred of an innocent man (the Count), and in particular, chapter 34 concerns the financial losses of one of the Count's foes. Maybe some kind of storyline concerning Statesman and some new enemy of his?
(Note: This could all be wrong.)
