Could you post a sample build? I keep poking at my claws regen build and would like to see another's.
-
This aside, I have a question about Lrod for those whove gotten it.
Is this a targeted power or do you use the glowing circle to activate? -
[ QUOTE ]
Was playing around with Lightning Rod tonight and got the recharge down to 60 secs 3 slotted for reduced recharge with Hasten and Lightning Reflexes; 70 secs with 2 redrech slotted and hasten/LR. Not too bad but not great for a lvl 32 power.

This is what I hate, why should I NEED all those powers to make one power useful, it doens't make a lot of sense.
Overall, the entire set seems lacking in damage and utility. I'm really hoping for some positive changes before live one way or the other. I just don't see that "something special" that elec has to offer that isn't done better than another melee set. -
The only thing I truly hope is that the devs take this feedback seriously. I love some parts of the melee set for elec though it needs a lil something more to be on par with the rest of the brute melee sets.
I'll likely play an elec/ because I love the way it looks, but if improvements aren't made where needed, intrest will be lost by myself and quite a few others.
Edited for the spelling police -

Right now the electric sets, when placed together, are impossible to solo with unless you make it a habit to only carry green inspirations which also, should not be required.
[/ QUOTE ]
I found soloing isn't a problem for me, but the extra agro from grouping will kill me every time. -
The one thing I fimnd lacking is a level 18 "OMG I need to have that" power....Sizemic smash, Total Focus, Dark Consumption, Rage....ok, Fire Melee gets screwed too.
From what I'm hearing, CI just isn't in the league of those other powers (haven't made it to 18 yet). -
I hope this is a bug. CI seems to be an interesting and unique power and it would be a shame if that is "working as intended".

So far in playing my el/el on test (only up to 14, how people have gotten to 32+ already is beyond me) it seems a solid set, but already the pain of being knocked on my backside while my status protection is on is getting more than a little annoying. Also, the end issues are starting to rear thier head (I sed to freespec to get out of lightning field already, the end hog definatly isn't worth it).
As other have stated, and coming from someone who doens't enjoy dipping far into pool powers, I'm already dreading the hole filling that'll need to be done since I really do not belive any changes will be made soon if ever. Taking 3 slots for the leapinbg pool, another 3 from fitness and two from medicine leaves a scant 12 choices from my prim/sec and that's where most of my fun for my chars come from.
Maybe at higher levels it would be possible to have a stamina-less build with power sinka nd conserve power both, but having no experience with those powers, I'm not too sure if that would work, and would defiantly not be a leveling build until you have access to them.
Overall, I think this set has to many holes to fill for myself personally. I'm just glad I had the chance to play and observe it on test before getting deep into live and being disapointed. -
One thing I've not seen, or seen much of is that people are forgetting not every prim/sec is tailor made for everyone. You will have plenty of people who see elec armor, see the holes, see how to fill them with pool powers and are happy with the set.
Others see this holes as too big to fill with pool powers or that you are pigeon holed into taking those powers and dislike it.
Obviously, your personal playstyle or ability to adapt to another playstyle is going to influance whether or not elec armour is for you.
I currently run a stone/stone brute. The attacks have great damage and the armor is solid, however, my attacks are among the most resisted damage type (smashing) and even with swift, I cannot move as fast as my team mates when rooted. Not to mention that I must take off my status protection when I travel wven with TP (unless I want to plumet as soon as I port).
Personally, I've never taken the medicine pool for any of my chars, nor acrobatics. I love the way elec looks, however, I feel rather "squishy" when compared to my stone brute (I had the same issue with Fire Armor).
Either I will adjust my playstyle and power picks (maybe I'll love acro and medicine, not sure stamina will be a requirement with the end management Elec offers) or I'll pick another armor. End of story.
Elec being on test is for the working out of possible bugs. Devs will change (if they deem it needed) well after it's been on live and have a much massive pool of data.
I would suggest to many complainers to like it how it is or pick another secondary. It's that simple. -
I shouldn't bother, but...

-Stalkers and brutes are built for getting close. I cant imagine why I would want a range attack with mine. To piss off the enemies BEFORE I get into my optimal damage range?
[/ QUOTE ]
I know of a few times my brute would have loved some sort of ranged attack (and Hurl Bolder isn't a real option). Sometimes you want to have it for when the mob is running to, not as a first attack.
[/ QUOTE ]
Masterminds already have crowd control if they want it, and in my experiance, we do not even need it that badly. AE immobilize = 8 mobs target me and open fire = one dead (and stupid) mastermind. Whats more, we are talking about AE immobilize and single target hold. Level 4 dominators get these powers. Hardly what I would consider end-game MM powers.
-Everyone is getting pets, who do not need them, yet the one character who is built for pets is left out?
[/ QUOTE ]
MMs need another pet like I need to soak my feet in acid. a /dark can get 7 pets, a necro/dark can get 8 and not all MM sets have this sort of control. I will admit on first glance, MM sets seem the most lack luster.
[ QUOTE ]
-You obtain these powers by talking to STATUES rather then the actual villain (which would have been 10x cooler), and you are forced to take some time and closely examine every one of these statues, before you can even start the storyline. This sounds really friggin lame.
[/ QUOTE ]
Recluse's LTs have better thigns to do than hang out in a tower all day. However, like or dislike of this I suppose is pure personal opinion.
[ QUOTE ]
-The devs said that the statues will provide hard numbers on all of the powers. Does this not turn on a little warning light for anyone else? Currently in game, hard numbers are just a fairy tail. The best thing you get is "damage: moderate, Recharge: slow". Why would it be different for patron powers? Why would the devs suddenly support min/maxing for these powers alone?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because, at this time, you cannot respec out of the power pool once chosen. This is intended to give players more educated choices in deciding which Patron to pick.
[ QUOTE ]
-Ghost sharks and Chum barf. Do I even have to elaborate on this one? I am surprized Brutes are not getting a "thunderous fart" AE mez attack. These two powers are just too stupid to believe.
This is either an april fools joke, or these developers are completely off their fruit.
[/ QUOTE ]
I want to play the game where everything goes right for everyone and all the devs do is perfect. I know most corrs and doms, perhaps the MMs to would have prefered some sort of Mez protection over a pet (the pets for the 4 non-pet ATs seems a little odd), but for now, we are getting what we're getting. -
[ QUOTE ]
ya know itz kinda retarded if u tink about it, heroes should be lookin in da newspaper not villains, it makes no sense. And i also tink dat heroes should logically have patron powers instead of ancilary powers. Cause i mean usually a hero would follow a higher hero, but realisticlly speakin villains wouldnt do dat because villains would say "screw Arachnos im doin what i wanna do and nobody is gunna stop me"
to me cov and coh are startin to be way to reversed and vilains are gettin what heroes wrightfully deserve like dat lil "newspaper article" thing.

This post burned my eyes.... -

It comes down to this:
The Villain Patron Pools look good, if you can get past the thematic visual ties to the patron.
But, Hero Epic Pools give you more varied choices.
I don't really like the direction they've taken with the Patron Pools. In a couple months, I won't care as much, but I still won't like it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats kinda how I feel. The new powers will have their place and be useful IMO, but there is not much variety. Kind of like Heroes get a Baskin Robins and we get a carton of neapolitan.
Maybe we will see more varied choices over time. (By then perhaps we will be able to respec out). -
Ah, complaining about powers before they are available to be tested and see how they mesh with an AT, yummy.
While I have my own reservations about the lack of power diversity between patrons, I am looking forward to trying them out and see how they work with my existing powers. My brute is looking forward to a ranged attack (besides hurl bolder which is ..meh) and an imob. might help with getting jousted to death in PvP.
One thing that has always kinda gotten to me though are complaints about the RP aspect. In my mind, Arachnos broke you out and you are staying on the Rogue Isles (a sovereign nation) by the graces of Lord Recluse who could at any moment decide you are too much trouble and have you wiped out. Maybe you dont want to work for Arachnos and thats fine, but even a villain knows that sometimes you have to play along to survive. Choosing a Patron or facing the wrath of Recluse and all Arachnos.
In any case, wonder if these powers are set in stone or if we can expect a little tweaking.
