Thanks for the positive feedback you two.
I only used a screenshot as a reference for the background the actual character is drawn from scratch (but I'm not 100% sure thats what you meant Catz_).
I have till the 15th to cancel my account so I may get another one up here yet. -
Another attempt at my CoH character Inchiki.
Once again the picture was sketched, scanned then coloured on computer, I'm quite pleased with this one especially the pose.
The background was created by using a CoH screen shot and is a little more complex than I have attempted before but I think it came out ok.
Screen-shot
Rough Sketch
Finished Artwork
This will probably have to be my last picture post for a while (depending on how fast I can finish some of the stuff I'm working on) I'm having to suspend my CoH account temporarily (until I get back into work) due to financial reasons :: but have loads of CoH art I'm working on so keep an eye on my devart page (link in my sig) if you're interested. -
It's a toughie but I'm gonna have to nominate Catz_ for the excellent Heir to the Flame
-
Congratulations you three great pieces all of them
-
Once again good work, great style and your drawings never fail to make smile.
P.S If ever I don't get round to commenting on one of your pictures just assume that if I've seen it I love it -
I think I said something very similar to Fredrico a while back Thats a doodle!?!
Nice man, I like it! -
A good little read all three, I especially liked To Die For. you've certainly got some decent writing skills and I don't think the ideas were poorly realised at all.
I also liked the little nod to Lost and Found in Where Do Alt's Go that was a nice touch. -
Wow thanks! has to be my best received artwork yet.
Hopefully that means I have improved but I think the character design might have something to do with it too, I was rather proud when I created him and he certainly looks the most like a proper superhero out of all my characters.
Thanks for the kind words.
oh and LeighB you'll be glad hear I'm tone deaf and have no musical talent whatsoever. -
Here is a mock up of a comic cover featuring a fairly new charter of mine, he was created in the spirit of the classic Commu-nazi fighting superheros of old.

I"m very pleased with this picture so I hope you like it. -
Hey thanks for the comment, glad you like it.
The white parts are supposed to be sparks os electricity where his face has cracked, its looked ok in paint shop pro but I was zoomed in a bit on that. -
which do I prefer?
well first off they both look awesome!
But if I had to pick I'd say the first one, although the pose in the second one is really cool the chest detail and his awesome sword are more visible in the first. -
I know I keep saying this but I think this is my best so far (maybe even my best drawing ever).
here's the very rough sketch of Ninjagazz i used:

and here's the finished piece:

I used a variety of methods to create this picture.
As you can see Ninjagazz's head and a few other parts were heavily fiddled about with once I got him on the computer.
Horobosu was created using a screenshot like in my digital art thread and the background was created just using Paintshop pro 6.
Seeing the great artwork being posted on this forum has really made me try to step it up with my own artwork so thanks for sharing. -
nice work the eyes and hair are very well drawn, nice pose too!
-
thanks peeps! hopefully this has helped my background drawing skills somewhat.

Here is a picture I created by drawing over a screenshot, re-colouring it and adding some shading and highlights
hope you like:

That is a doodle to you?
Man I would give my right arm to be able to doodle as good as that!
Great work and funny too! -
hey nice pics.
if you are looking for a decent art program I mentioned a freeware program called artweaver in another post, it's a little finicky at first but once you get to grips with it it's almost as good as paintshop pro.
here is where to get it if you are interested:

Even though I was pleased when I first posted this pic I kept looking at it thinking I could do better so I re-did the lines a little thinner and neater and experimented with a few different ways of shading him (rather than just using the lighten/darken brush).
Here's how he looks now:

I think it's a fair improvement over the original, what do you think better/worse/about the same? -
Ok I think this is best of the ones I've posted so far, so I hope you like it.
Retsu blade is one of my brothers charters, I've drawn him slightly less cartoony than the others and I decided to give him a proper background this time (I think need to work on drawing backgrounds a bit though).
(very) rough sketch:

hey thats great! it's nicely shaded and your lines are way neater than mine will ever be, keep it up!
edit: oh yeah and well done on those glasses they are superb -
wow thats a great drawing! I'm jealous
you say you don't have Photoshop, have you tried Artweaver? it's very similar to Paint Shop Pro only it's free. it worked great for me (until I found my old hard drive with paint shop pro 6 on it) but like Cynic said it looks great in black and white anyway. -
Thats art for you everyone sees it differently
Nice work on the Photoshop pic you have got the Joker-esque mouth looking great, was it drawn over a photograph? I only ask because he looks a little like you (not that you have a huge freaky grin but his face shape etc.) -
I don't consider my work to be up to the standard of allot of the people who post on this forum but I hope you don't mind me having a crack at Captain Stonetastic anyway.
first a few points of artistic license
1, I liked the look of the firey bits coming through the stone so I have exaggerated that effect somewhat.
2, Where on the screen shot the arm detail collides with the stone parts I have chosen to keep the emphasis on the stone so he is missing his arm wraps and skull shoulder pads (which I didn't notice he had at first, doh!).
I hope that is ok with you, if you would like me to add the skulls and/or arm wraps on him or anything else you would like to change let me know, he is your character after all

Anyway I hope you like it.
