Well i'd be happy with your scaling!!
-
just over 50% res to energy and neg energy
35% res to everything else apart from toxic and psionics. 25% toxic if you use essence boost.
damage output is comparable to both a blaster and scrapper - least it is using the hero builder attack planner and as each attack gives -def and it can floor the defence.
dawn strike gives -90% def.
they are tho jack of all trades. still enjoy playing my pb. -
Just checked out the slotting for TP...you can probably free up quite a few slots there.
2 range and 1 end redx should be quite nifty, or even just 2 range and powerboost.
Best thing to do is try some different combination on the test server or find someone or a thread somewhere with optimum tp slotting. -
You can probably get by without CP. Personally i prefer to have it.
And as for tp, if you slot for range, less travel hops means less endurance. -
Very long, very boring and lots of debt. Was my experience of the last one.
Still, the prospect of getting a hammi-o is what drives it.
If they get enough controllers it should be ok and even then 2 hours of spamming a hold is not my idea of fun. -
Certainly looking better.
A couple of points - with stamina you won't need an end reduction in flight.
Conserve power is a very good power. For the 60 seconds or however long it is, you can effectively unleash as many powers as you possibly can. It's also very good to use before a Nova. This way, after ur endurance is drained, pop a blue pill and you can carry on fighting or go invis or whatever as all your powers cost less to activate. Then the end ban ends and the blue bar will start to fill again.
You'd also be amazed at the difference in run speed when you 3 slot swift.
If you are going to use hover when attacking, no flight speeds make it really slow. Even with power boost. (which incidentally if you weren't sure, boosts flight speed aswell as numerous other secondary effects - disorient duration, hold duration, damage resistance etc) -
Had a thought on defiance which will obviously never get implemented but would be quite nice to actually make it worth it - and should also give you the impression it is doing something.
So what i suggest is:
The damage should start scaling earlier. (more than likely been suggested before but couldn't be rsed to look)
90% health - 10% increase
80% - 20%
70% - 30%
60% - 40%
50% - 50%
40% - 100%
30% - 200%
20% - 300%
10% - 400%
01% - 500%
The defiance bar should gradually increase as you start taking damage and the health bar drops. The first major increase is at a point when 3 even level minions will possibly drop you. It should also help with the current damage nerf blasters have had giving a bit more damage kingdom come. -
Point to note on the Kheldians after using light form, if slotted, which i'm sure most human types do, you have the inherent resistance power (can't for the life of me think what it's called atm). Which with 3 sos gives some resistance. Can't remember what the figures are either.
With conserve energy, pop a blue pill fire up the fully slotted shields and you have 50% resistance again. Plus you are comparing to an inv tank too. What about the others. -

Is it not the Hammie raid tonight.

It is, but i'm not going. Or might pop in later on. I have nearly cleared the maxed out debt on 46. Would like to earn some influence for a bit now.
Plus, i won't be on till around 10 maybe earlier depending on how my cooking and packing goes. Of which i'm going to try and do both at the same time to maximise my penultimate night on CoH before i don't have access for over a week. -
Ok, i was using hyperbole to emphasise my point.
But what you've just put down shows that they hit harder than a tank (not hard i know) and are miles more resistant than a blaster. The primary blast has a blaster level brawl index it think aswell.
Im not sure about dawn strike, but i don't think it's quite as powerful as a blaster nova. But is still pretty good.
And yes, recharge on photon seekers is very long and is more like a mini-nova.
It's still a good allround archetype that can tank blast and scrap all in one. Sometimes as good as the primary. -
Pants. Would have loved to have done this but haven't made it to 35 yet!
-
Righto, i'm feeling better after a bacon sarnie and lots of liquid.
Just a few pointers here.
1) Power thrust should have 2 or 3 accuracies in it. This is a great auto power (hold ctrl and click the power to make it 'auto'. A green circle will appear around it) for when things get too close. As nrg/nrg slotting for knockback is fairly pointless, especially with power boost.
2)Get aim and build up as soon as possible. You want to be maximising your damage output early.
3)Really is no point having 3 travel powers. Pick one, use it, see if you like it. If not, do a respec and try another. As a blaster hover is very handy. Personally i use super jump as it gives access to acrobatics, and just have hover from the flight pool.
4)Slot all attacks with 2 accuracies. This way you should be hitting +3s regularly. Although last night on a mission with 53's i was missing far too often for my liking. Might start 3 slotting accuracy. However, if you plan on going in for pvp, 2 accuracies are a must.
5) There is no 5.
6)No point slotting endurance reduction on Nova. It drains all endurance on a successful hit of a mob group.
Hopefully that helps somewhat. -
I don't even have a christmas party for an excuse. This was pure unadulterated self infliction. I really should have learnt by now not to mix beer and wine.
Glugging wine for 4 hours sounds like a good xmas party tho! -

CoV needs Epic Powers and At's and the ability to get to lv50 or it will plummet soon. Also, they should make PB and WS unlockable now at any level and bring in some new EPIC AT for COH
[/ QUOTE ]And maybe have every level go up as fast as the first 4 and have the option to turn god mode and quad damage on and off at will, as inherent lvl 1 power. °_°
[ QUOTE ]
Tank/scrapper/blaster in one.
[/ QUOTE ]Yup, all in one but with 1/3 of the power of each....(May sound "[censored] Tank/non-damaging scrapper/low-damage blaster in one")
[/ QUOTE ]
Hardly. In human form, fully slotted shields and light form will give better resistance than any tank, incandescent strike hits harder than total focus, and photon seekers (providing they all hit the same target) hit harder than any blaster snipe. :P -
I will be on later on tonight for a couple of hours.
Got loads of RL preparations type stuff to do. -
I will post comments here later, when i'm feeling better. Hangovers really don't help your thought process.
-
I think fire and ice primaries are probably the ones to go with as there are not so many defenses against fire/cold.
But still, i'll level up my ice/nrg and see how it goes. -
I started a fire/energy blaster. In PvE it would be good. Not so sure about pvp.
As for energy hitting hard. Look at the indexes and elec secondary hit just as hard, some are disorients/holds and some end drains. Not sure if any are toggle droppers which is where energy really shines.
I know all about powerboost. Had it since i could first get it with 46. Don't have invis, but i'm a more upfront hurt me quick before i hurt you more kinda blaster. -
Definitely shouldn't bring in a new epic at imo and definitely not let people play them from the off.
What they should do is improve slightly upon the ones that are there.
Those human shields are class. Combined with light form and you are hitting the res cap. Tank/scrapper/blaster in one. -
It is a good thought Rogue. Energy secondary compliments pretty much all the other primaries. Why i've gone for ice/energy in the first place.
However, come pvp, it's the most normal build around. I like to try something different and a little unexpected. Something that's harder to counter.
I wouldn't be using the /elec for the end draining effects particularly, except for powersink, the damage and secondary effects on teh powers are good though, combined with ice slows it could be quite fun. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well not even sure the 850% thing is still there as a cap, think it got lowered but don't quote me on that.
It's kind of irrelevent anyway, as already stated fury gives about a 200% damage boosted.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fair enough - but all they have to do to get this is hit stuff. A blaster has to be at ridiculously low health to get anywhere near 200% damage increase - 1 more shot and you'd be dead.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't know on one hand I would say after a while a brute can out-damage a blaster. This is purely if they get fury going mind you and more so that they it easier to play a brute more carelessly as you have defenses and mez protection.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is much easier to get fury going than using defiance. Although the starting points for the brute is lower in terms of damage, it's not that much lower, so regularly outdamaging a blaster that doesn't use aim or bu is quite easy
[ QUOTE ]
However off the blocks a brute is compariable to slightly more than a tanks damage with scrapper defenses.
[/ QUOTE ]
i.e. a good all rounder that can quickly and easily buff their own damage to that of a blaster with a scrappers defenses.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't know, I have a 50 scrapper, 50 blaster, and a 40 brute. I don't feel like my blaster is not doing its share of damage, and although you might say range isn't an advantage it does give you more positions to attack from and to as well as having melee for the big damage when you can.
[/ QUOTE ]
I feel my blaster does it's fair share of damage. Range is definitely and advantage, it's a relatively simple theory to keep a brute at bay and just pick em off. Knockback/down, holds/slows/immobs etc. Depending on their defenses of course. Though knockback, slows and disorient are kings here.
[ QUOTE ]
I would say if I put all three against the same mission, probably the scrapper would come out first followed by the brute then the blaster (obviously depending on enemies) but that wouldn't be down to damage output it would be incoming damage and mez.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. You need to take things steadier as a blaster. Although i don't think it would be as far apart as perhaps it might first look
[ QUOTE ]
It may not be the clear cut damage dealer winner it once was the blaster, but it does still have a lot of flexibility in its roll. True holds have been nerfed for them, but with 3 single target holds to choose from, I'm not lacking in control even now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Depends on your powersets. But it's definitely not the damage dealer it's supposed to be.
[ QUOTE ]
PvP wise, I would take a blaster any day over a brute at the current 40 cap (assuming a 40 blaster). Fury doesn't work too well in PvP to give brutes their big damage, and certainly in places like bloody bay and sirens, the blaster can string together a lot of very high damage attacks to floor anyone if build correctly. A blaster can litterally explode a very concentrated burst of damage as it has so many high damage attacks to begin with rather than relying on a long slugging match that the brute has to.
[/ QUOTE ]
Definitely. PvP you just can't get that fury bar rising...it's mighty easy to get low on HP though for a blaster! -
So with and 850% damage cap, what kind of comparable damage are we talking?
Is it near a blaster with theirs at 500%?
I imagine the brawl index is slightly lower, but looking at some of them, their brawl indexes aren't that far behind a blasters highest non-snipe or mid range punch.
So if say a BI of 5 for the brute, 9 for the blaster gives an almost even total. 6 for the brute it will outdamage a blaster. -
I've had a thought.
I might decide when we get to 25ish, to play Sunrod instead.
She is sonic/electric and i'm thinking it could be quite good.
It's very much a short range build, or very much a blapper. But it could be very good in pvp. As sonics have -res, it's very handy for taking out tanks, in fact anything really. The electric secondary is good close up, and whilst i'll need some help with slotting for things like power sink, the elec secondary attacks are very good.
With a stormy around i can just stick close and blap from there.
Was thinking of re-rolling or just playing on till 25 and seeing how it goes.
For re-rolling, I'm not sure sonic/energy would be worth it. i.e. how much powerboost would help the debuffs and the sonics set.
Alternatively i could re-roll as ice/elec. I'm thinking it could be a very good combination.
What do you think? -
Did the rumble go ahead last night?? And if so, i hope Onion kicked Deviant a$$!
I couldn't get the cc tool to work, plus i was having issues with my internet connection.
