  1. You can use Wyndsong.

Ignore the fact that she's an immortal demigod with nearly impervious skin.
  2. Woah!!! Very nice.

I love the talk bubbles that come up when you hover over a link.

    Vectorman WIP!

    The art is amazing!

And Vectorman has a great look. Loved how you combined that line pattern with stealth!!

Welcome to the Internet! Grow a thick skin or continue to cry, we really don't care.

    lol!

    [censored], please.

If you're OK with being a jerk, then there's nothing to talk about. I'm done.

Costume design advice is a shot in the dark. For every rule there’s a beautiful exception. Some people just have an instinctual aesthetic sense, like a fine palette, a good ear or a talent for prose. It’s difficult to define, but you usually know if you have it and whether you better express your talent through creation, critique or a (careful) combination of the two.

The problem is many people think design and design appreciation are completely subjective, as though they’re an egalitarian extension of one’s right to opinion. I don’t think this is true; not all people are equally disposed to measuring quality - but I’ll stop there before I get super-duper snotty.

Anyway, I love costume design and there are some nice costumes on this thread. Can’t wait to see more.

    OMGHAI!

    Welcome back.

And I agree with everything you said.
  5. Of course. In other threads, however, where the intent is to simply show off your favorite costumes, unsolicited advice can be inappropriate.

Hey, how about starting a thread in which anyone can say whatever the hell they want? There'd be warning... like, don't post your costume here, unless you have a thick skin, or something. We could criticize each other as much as we wanted, and no one would be allowed to get angry! C'mon, it'd be fun.

Just for the record Demarko is black and dark red, and he looks pretty freakin kewl to me.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, I'm sure you'll fit right in with the twenty other "Kewl" kids that dress all in black and look completely identical to each other from 10 yards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    are lame.

Oh you left out the part where he called me a Nazi for promoting individuality.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And why were you called a Nazi? Advice is great, but only when someone asks for it. The way you came off... it was like, damn, big-headed much? You acted as if you were an authority on the matter. I mean, you cited your own costumes as "good examples"! Not only that, when someone felt the same way and told you, you insulted his costume. Sorry, that just irritates me.

Look, I know you were just trying to help, but you went about it poorly.

And I apologize for getting so off-topic. This thread is excellent, I'll try and come up with more tips!

Okay, anyway, all the stuff about color is great. But there should be more talk about the costume pieces themselves! I always ask myself, what does this object say about my character? It should have some meaning. Also, pay attention to texture.

And that's all I got for now.

    The Griffin

    That's so freaking cool!!!

How can I get you guys to draw Wyndsong!?
  9. Congratulations!!! I didn't know we could use Photoshop to create our own layouts, or I definitely would've entered myself.

Yeah, internet tough guy, you put me in my place. I am figuring out that the way that people show their wittiness and intelligence on the internet is by throwing in subtle personal attacks in their posts, hence causing the other person to flame them, and therefore look stupid and appear to be a hot-headed troll. I am not going to play that game. My only point here is that unless you're level 35, it doesn't seem like this Issue is going to do much for you. Issues seem to be getting smaller and smaller, with less and less content with each issue. I'd rather pay for a quality upgrade than get garbage like this every couple of months that does nothing but cause lag, crashes, and elation for about 5% of gamers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's just how issues work. It's ONE issue, and it's addressing ONE fundamental problem. Look at the other issues. You'll see that most of them cater towards one specific group or need.

I mean, if you're so pissed about this, why don't you get off the forums and stop making yourself look like an idiot, and go play the bloody game? This isn't one of those issues that's favoring villains over heroes, or whatever, something which you might have legitimate hard feelings over... Anyone can get to Level 35 and enjoy this new content.

Are you going to sit here and try to tell us that the majority of toons aren't lvls 1-10? Go to Atlas and take a look around, and then stroll into Eden and look around there. Also, I'm sure there has to be a breakdown somewhere where we can settle this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um, why are you gonna compare Atlas to Eden? Like that's fair. Why not look at Talos, or Peregrine Island?
  12. [ QUOTE ]
I ask: Is there even 1 thing that a toon under lvl 35 can do? Because the way I see it, you can't even enter the new zones unless you're at lvl 35+.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So what? 35 and below there's already *plenty* of stuff to do. The goal of this issue is to further the City of Heroes storyline and to inject life into a currently dead level range. Obviously, you wouldn't know how bad the 30s are if you haven't even gotten one toon above Level 10.
  13. You can't be serious.

This issue is going to be a godsend for A LOT of people, Robvious.

Every single one of my toons have gotten stuck at 35.
  14. Me, too!

Thanks a lot, Ex. Your gift is totally awesome.
  15. I don't post much, but this is too great of an opportunity to miss! My char Wyndsong would really love a new bio. Here's some info:

    Real Name - Lornis
    Origin - Magic
    Powerset - Storm/Sonic

History - [Taken from my existing bio] "At the dawn of creation, the goddess Gaia emerged from the yawning void of space, as the first Child of Chaos. Wrapped in the silence of oblivion, she was scared and confused; weak and alone. Days passed and her loveless heart began to ache. Months, years and centuries followed; and still she had no one. But with time her magic grew strong, and she was able to bring forth Uranus, the starry sky, out of her own self, as her equal, to cover her, the hills and the fruitless deep of the sea. The consequence of such powerful sorcery, however, was unforeseen, and with a flash of lightning, all the lonliness and bitter resentment Gaia had felt released itself alongside Uranus."

Er, that's it. I didn't even get to finish it >< So I'll just summarize the rest. Basically, all that lonliness and whatever manifests as a huge raging storm, and together Gaia and Uranus battle it for like a century. When they finally cage it up in Tartarus, they see it growing only stronger in the damp darkness. So Gaia reseals it inside the purest soul she can find, where its negative energies are neutralized by the good entombing it. That rare soul belongs to the beautiful harpy, Wyndsong!

Now, there are only supposed to 3 harpy sisters, so I had to fit in Wyndsong somehow. I found it interesting that in early Greek mythology harpies were seen as gentle, beautiful creatures, then somewhere down the line their image changed into monstrous she-demons for no apparant reason. Within my own rendition of Greek myth, I squeezed in Wyndsong as their fourth and youngest sister, who, after being infused with a part of Gaia, collapses and falls unconscious. Her sisters stay with her through the entire night at her bedside, where they are exposed to the negative energy surrounding Wyndsong that has yet to completely absorb into her soul; this "darkness" is what changes them into monstrous she-demons, for which Wyndsong feels tremendous guilt.

Being part-goddess, Wyndsong is naturally immortal too, like Statesman and has been around a long time, even during the Invasion. When the Rikti reared their ugly heads, however, she mean't to fight them, but as she approaches Paragon for the first time, the psionic presence of the Rikti disturbs her control over Gaia's destructive feelings, and she was forced to retreat. She's since emerged again, stronger now, and has come to Paragon City once more as one of it's newest heroes.

Anyway, you can include however much of that as you want. If you wanna change things around to make the story more interesting, I urge you to do so. Thanks so much, I really look forward to what you write!!
