Yes, they should Feugan. The database should still change the scalars upon the changing of what AT the set and powers are in.
Well, I can fiddle with it to see Sanc. The thing is that the designer isn't capable of having a set with two distiguishable set bonuses, at least not as far as I can tell. So I could put in the PvP Recipes and make a tutorial for it, but you could probably only get one set of bonuses at a time. Which kind of defeats the purpose of adding them in. -
Shows what I know! Hahaha, thanks for that, I'll edit the OP.
If you follow the steps that shouldn't happen, hasn't for me yet! -
I am glad to have been of assistance!

With the release of what the next round of Power set Proliferation holds for City of Heroes, and specifically Blasters, many have been wondering how some of us have been able to add Radiation Blast to Mid's Hero Designer.
Since Mid's hasn't been updated since Dec. 2nd of 2008 many of us have come to the conclusion that we are on our when it comes to updating Mid's. And while it may seem like an impossible task it's a rather simple undertaking! So today I'm going to take the time to write the steps to take to add Radiation Blast to the possible choices for Blaster Primaries. So without further ado, let's begin!
Step 1: Open Mid's Hero Designer, click "Options" from the Menu Bar, hover over "Advanced" (The second to last option from the list), and then select the "Database Editor" option.
- [*]Our first step is a simple one, and allows us access to the pop up window where the inner workings of Mid's Hero Designer. From here we can begin the real work.
Step 2: Click the "Main Database Editor" button in the pop-up menu that appears (It's the first button in the list).
- [*]This step will open up the Power Database Editor in a new window. There should be three separate columns in this window. The far left showing a long list of the various archetypes, broken into twos by their primary and secondary, the middle showing the power sets available in the selected group, and the third showing the powers available in the selected power set.
Step 3: Click on the group named "Blaster_Ranged" in the far left column then click the "Add" button at the bottom of the second column.
- [*]This step should change what is displayed in the second column to the available primaries for Blasters. The second part of the step will open up yet another pop-up window with an empty form that will serve as the start of our new power set.
Step 4: Input the basic information of the power set into the newly opened form.
- [*]This step is the longest step in the process, but is also the easiest one. The best way to explain what to do is to show you. Click the link below and fill in the fields as shown in the screenshot.
Mid's Power set Editor
You'll notice that there is an icon selected for the set. You can insert the same one by clicking the "Select Icon" button then typing "RadiationBlast.png" into the file name field then pressing "Open". It will automatically be added into the field.
Step 5: Click "Ok", click "Ok" in the error message pop-up, click the "Save & Close" button in the lower right hand corner of the Power Database Browser, close the Database Editor menu, and then exit out of Mid's Hero Designer.
- [*]This is probably the most crucial step of the process. For some reason or another Mid's Hero Designer doesn't like naming new sets, you can toss in any name you want and it will always be invalid. However, it does add in the set, it just doesn't want to tell you it does. After this step you should now have a destination for all the Radiation Blast powers you'll have to copy in.
Step 6: Repeat steps 1 and 2.
Step 7: Click on the group named "Blaster_Ranged" and click set named "Radiation Blast" in the second column.
- [*]This step will display the powers in our new Radiation Blast set in the far right column of the Power Database Browser, which for now is zero.
You will notice that, unlike the rest of the primaries, our new Radiation Blast one doesn't have a name under the "Set" classification, this is the result of the "Invalid Name" error we received in step 5.
Step 8: In the far left column click the "Defender_Ranged" group, in the middle column click the "Radiation_Blast" set, click the "Neutrino_Bolt" power in the far right column, then select the "Edit" button at the bottom of the third column.
- [*]Steps 1-7 provided us with an empty power set, steps 8-11 will provide us with the powers for said set.
When you click "Edit" when selecting Neutrino_Bolt you'll open up the power's main information window. With the addition of the Real Numbers tool in CoH this is kind of a silly place to get your information though, and it is hard to read in places. Our reasoning for opening this window is addressed in step 9.
Step 9: Click the Copy button at the bottom of the Power Information Window, and close the window. Select Blaster_Ranged in the far left column, then select the Radiation Blast power set in the middle column, then click the Add button in the far right column.
- [*]This step will copy all the information about Neutrino Bolt, and will then allow us to paste it into a new, empty template so it can be added to our Radiation Blast power set.
Step 10: Click the Paste button at the bottom of the Power Information Window, then edit the Group and Set Name drop down menus. Once these are edited click Ok at the bottom of the Power Information Window.
- [*]When you paste in the info the database will fill in every field in the Power Information Window except the Group and Set Name ones, this is because the database recognizes that the current entries are not applicable.
The Group drop down menu should read Blaster_Ranged, and the option should be the second option on the list, although it can be typed manually (Just make sure you make no typos). The Set Name drop down window on the other hand, doesnt work. You must manually type Radiation_Blast into the field. Once this is done click Ok and youll notice that Neutrino Bolt is now listed in the far right column of the Power Database Browser.
Step 11: Head back to the Defender list using the process outlined in Step 8, and copy the next power in the list into the Blaster Radiation Blast set using the process outlined in steps 9 and 10; however, do not finish step 10. You will need to click on the Power Attributes tab at the top of the Power Information Window and change the levels each power is available at to mirror that of a primary (Use Energy Blast as a guide for this).
- [*]Step 11 will take you a little bit of time. Youre basically copying in the other 8 powers from the Defender Secondary to the Blaster Primary and fixing when the powers should be available. The Level Available field will be the top one in the Power Attributes tab.
Once you are done will that youll have all the powers added to your Radiation Blast power set, and youll just need to save everything and restart Mids to have the changes take affect.
You may be wondering if the numbers will be accurate since you ported over the Defender versions of the powers. I wondered this too, but when you copy over the powers they are automatically modified using the Blaster Scalars (Scales) by the database. You can check this by linking a power from the set in-game and then changing it to show how it would work when used by a level 50 Blaster. The numbers should be identical.
Step 12: Save & Close the Power Database Browser, close the Database Editor, and close Mids Hero Designer. Reopen Mids Hero Designer, start a new Blaster build and youll find Radiation Blast as an option for you to use as a primary for your Blasters from now on!
If you have any questions feel free to ask, and I'll try to answer them to the best of my abilities. If something doesn't work (Although it should, I ran through the steps as I wrote it), please let me know what step failed and I'll try to resolve it as soon as possible. Happy Building!
Update:
When you want to port in a build from the forums that uses Radiation Blast or any other power set that has been manually ported to a new AT you must use the data chunk! If you attempt to click the datalink the build will come in incomplete and generally messed up (Slots missing, power choices missing, etc.).
Thanks to Kheldarn for noticing this! -
You add in the set and modify the numbers by factoring in the Blaster damage modifier.
I did it on one comp, but can't get it to work on this one. -
Good call, I hadn't thought of that. But the question still stands.

I have a couple questions pertaining to The Order of the Four Winds.
We know that it's the origin of both Scirocco's and Ice Mistral's powers. Each earning them by stealing and receiving the mantles of the Sirocco and the Mistral winds respectively. It's also the origin of Borea's and Levantera's powers, receiving them from the mantles of the Bora and the Levanter winds respectively. Thus ends our knowledge as far as I can find.
Here are my questions: Are these the only four mantles? If not, is there a mantle for each of the significant Mediterranean winds? Or is just for the winds for the 4 Cardinal and 4 Ordinal directions? And if this is the case how did Borea end up in there? The Bora wind, while significant isn't a Cardinal or Ordinal wind. -
Your welcome, I was bored and figured I'd be productive.

I just saw this again yesterday and I think I can answer most of the questions.
1. This one I have no idea about, so I'll avoid it.
2. My thinking is that once it brings the kitchen and Jetfire to life the little shard of the spark is out of juice. His [Sam's] shard brings back like 10 dudes compared to the one the Decepticon's revives, I think it'd make sense for it be done.
3. Have you heard of a Fishfinder? It's basically a rudiment to SONAR. It can pick up fish that are effectively 1/10th the size of a human. It wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume that the United States Military, the most advanced in the world, could pick up something 1/3rd of the size of a human with their SONAR.
4. According to the movie Wikipedia, The Doctor transforms into a microscope. What do microscopes have that are used in glasses? Lenses. The lenses over his eyes are no different than Optimus Prime's doors serving as pecs.
5. I looked this up, Robo-Girl is actually a Pretender. Pretenders are a subline within the Transformers toy line that were introduced in 1988. The gimmick was that Transformers were supposedly capable of disguising their robotic forms through the use of sythetic organic outer shells.
Bumblebee was playing songs whose basic premise is cheating. Which is what was going to happen if Bumblebee hadn't stepped in with Anti-Freeze. He is Sam's guardian.
6. Transformers create each other using Energon. It's possible that a Prime created Optimus' great-great-creator, who created his great-creator, who created his creator, who in turn created him. A Prime wouldn't have to be alive persay, just someone who knew how to create a Prime.
I'd assume they felt loyalty to their brother, even though he was a rule-breaking, civilization destorying, doom-mongering, piece of work. I don't think I could ever bring myself to kill my own brother, but that's just me.
Optimus knows how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie-Pop. And Jetfire knows how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Blow-Pop. Together they are unstoppable.
7. I have no idea.
8. The NEST team is 6 hours away when Sam and crew start driving. If they did 70 MPH it'd take roughly three and a half hours to get 250 miles to Petra. They do cross what I assume is a border checkpoint, but that could be anything.
Here's a quote about the public's up-to-date information on Rail Guns: <ul type="square">[*]"On January 31, 2008 the US Navy tested a railgun; it fired a shell at 2520 m/s with an energy of 10.64 MJ.[15] Its expected performance is over 5.8 km/s muzzle velocity, accurate enough to hit a 5 meter target over 250 nautical miles (370 km) away while shooting at 10 shots per minute. It is expected to be ready in 2020 to 2025."
250 Nautical Miles, that's 287.5 land miles. I think 80 is within it's reach don't you?
9. The only way I can begin to explain this one is remember when Epps (Tyrese Gibson) makes the comment to Galloway I believe it is, to this effect; "You gotta think, if God made us after his image, who made him?" It's possible there is a robotic god and he has a robotic domain. But that's a stretch.
10. I'll answer these in order.
<ul type="square">[*]No idea. [*]He takes it off his foot as he tells Mikaela about the voices. [*]Sam's roommate is helping with the Turkish helicopter troops and pilots after they crash. [*]He was looking for the end of Pi. [*]It's Soundwave, do not question Soundwave. [*]Wheelie is just doing what every man has though of doing to Megan Fox at least once. [*]It's a baseball thing. [*]There's actually only one with the same hidden form, the green Caterpiller dump truck, all the other dump trucks are different makes and models. [*]The US Military isn't the only military fighting, NEST is a coalition between several militaries, including the British. We hurt the Decepticons a lot, high heat sabot rounds ring any bells? [*]The Egyptians didn't make the Pyramid according to the movie, the anciet Transformers did to conceal the weapon from us. [*]It adapts, like the All-Spark in the first movie, it went from taking a whole hanger to fitting in Sam's arms. [*]Tide extra-strength bleach with stain guard.
-
I've not seen anything from my two teammates either, though with some scheduling issues popping up it may be better that I get tossed in the sub pool for this event.

I fail to see how a General Education Development test is a nerf...Oh wait, you meant Enhancement Diversification...
I fail to see how Enhancement Diversification is a nerf. -
I actually slotted mine with Trap of the Hunter so that may be why it works out like that for me, I didn't realize slotting those powers [Immobilizes] for damage was something many people did.
You learn something new everyday :P -
Actually they are. Or rather, Requiem, Romulus, and Romulus Augustus are.
I was running into a problem with Requiem and Romulus running like crazy whenever I engaged them and it made it impossible to kill them. At the time of my first run I was Fire/Fire/Mun for the extra attack and Def Debuff (Which is silly because it's practically useless against AVs). Well, Surv. added bonus of being able to see the enemy's numbers paid off when I found that they have like 4 Immobl. Prot. and 0.0% Resistance to the effect.
You hit Ring of Fire or Chiblain twice and they're stuck. Throw it in every now and then and you'll have them perma-immoblized until they drop dead. -
I already shout Boom! Headshot! but this'll make it so I do it more often. Here's to hoping Blaster snipes get the same treatment as Dominator snipes!

I'm ready to embrace the fact that it's a certain playstyle (which I enjoy- I also have a bunch of /kins and kins/)
[/ QUOTE ]
That's all we can really hope for.
Blasters are Scrappers. Blasters aren't Defenders. Blasters aren't Controllers. Blasters are Blasters. Much like Scrappers require a specific playstyle Blasters require one. They aren't the same, even though we're both classified as the damage dealers of City of Heroes.
We don't need a change, we just need people willing to give a specific playstyle a chance, and if you're willing to try, we'll be more than willing to help. And hey, if you discover your Nrg/Nrg was a one time deal and you can't stand playing Blasters that's ok too, you gave it an honest shot and that's all that matters. -
Now, that's MY kind of Fender right there.
-
I won't lie, that's pretty awesome.

...soft-capped empath...

Wait, what?! -
Yea, it's definitely not needed if you aren't going for any sort of soft-cap, in fact I'd go so far as to say it's pretty useless. Unless you want to look like a glowing turd for a bit.
-
I have it on my TF/AV soloing capable build because it serves as a kind of set mule for another Red Fortune set, and it gets me up to the 30% treshhold for Smashing and Lethal defense.
I've come to the conclusion though, that on it's own it's mediocre at best for a defense power, and yea the animation is hideous.
Bottom line: I'd only take it if I were stacking it with other defensive powers or my set bonuses helped get the smashing and lethal defense up to something that matters. -
Should I?
Edit: Figured I should at least add a little to the discussion...
I think what should be gotten out of this thread is that you can have whatever opinion you want and no one, no matter how much evidence (Subjective or Objective) they provide can prove it wrong. Sure it's a little thick-skinned to scream 'Blasterz ez broke'd!' in a crowded room (Maybe even illegal) but if that's your opinion so be it, go play a Controller.
Further more, I agree with the guy who posted above me; what may have blown this up to a 6 page endeavour over who-knows-what is just the tonality used by both the OP and those responding. But that happens, it's the intrawebs and people get worked up of stuff like this, hell I get worked up of junk like this. We just gotta work on keep our heads cool, but since we're all Blasters that may never happen.
And now I'll stop lest I sound like Rocky after he beat the Russian and then proceeded to fix international relations with the world. -
I'll put in a vote for either of my Fire/Fire's builds. It's the most fun I've ever had playing the game without question.
You can give me numbers that say otherwise, you can tell me about all the cool things you've done with your Ice/Ice, NRG/NRG, AR/NRG, Arch/MM, Fire/MM, but I will always say that Fire/Fire is the best soloing Blaster ever. And I won't apologize for saying it : ) -
