I've been playing almost every other AT under the sun (save the Epics, still chugging my way there) and now I've just rolled a successful Stalker and I have to say I'm loving it.
At first when I tried playing this AT I hated it:- Hide, hit something for 4/5 health and then get pummelled by everything else around me.... But I've just made Scintilla and I have to say she rocks!
I'm still only level six, but when I play her I get that racey feeling I felt when I was completely new to the game. She's not perfect to one-shot most things yet, and she does miss a lot but I have yet to let that get to me.
It's sort of funny really as personally I find Scrappers inanely boring to play, but I'm really starting to get the grips with this AT.
Also I think at some point I might want to venture into a PVP zone () as normally I'm so unbelievably rubbish to the point of where I run to the enemy and just stand there! So bear with me whilst I learn the ropes, and sorry to say you'll have yet annother Stalker to watch out for
Horray for Stalking!! -
My Corrupter is definately more of a supporting character, but that isn't to say that she can't hold her own easily in a fight also.
Legion has probably got all but two of her secondaries in Kinetics, but as Dark Blast is her primary powerset that has basically given her the space to do that. Personally I think it's all down to the player and how they use their builds (as with... well everything) but some powers are a bit more suited to others.
I think that 'generally' a Corrupter is a nice medium and should be fairly balanced, but then again saying that I've been on good teams with first an all secondary Corrupter and then an all primary and I didn't have a problem with either of them.
An eight man team of Corrupters though, I would love to have Legion participate in that! -
Everything goes a such a different pace, and seeing another real player there and expecting a clash that might go on gets my heart pumping, even if I'm not that good anyway. But that's always been what I'm like in computer competitions.
Also for some parts the fact that people can have a laugh, I can chat with my enemy and become 'friends' with them too. I'll quote this again because it made me smile:
"Aww I don't wanna fight you Sev, you seem too nice to kill"
And the extremely rare occassion where someone tries to catch me off guard and I can stand my ground. I don't have to neccessarily kill them or inflict damage, just if I can survive. -
I have no Peacebringer or Warshade as yet, but I know of the Voids and Quantams and the hate that comes with them.
I haven't heard of the others that you've just mentioned though, anyone mind telling me what they are and what they do that makes them such a threat? I'd like to know before I go up to them to say hello. -
Congratulations! Knew it wouldn't take you long

Sure, Seventh Legion's always up for badge hunting!
-
I had one Stalker who started fighting a team consisting of me (Storm Defender), an Empath Defender and a Scrapper in Bloody Bay. He AS'd and killed me in one (no surprise there) but after I revived and proceeded to slow him down whilst he duelled with the Scrapper he shouted out that we were "Those that sold ourselves for money" (W). Which made me think why did he attack a team of three and shout when two of them retaliated?
Though after I told him that there was no need to swear at us he actually turned out to be a really nice person and stopped attacking me and just went after the Empath >_>
I've also had some nice PvP experiences that outweigh my bad ones tenfold, like Seventh Legion being told by Heroes that they wouldn't fight her as she seemed "Too nice to kill"They made really nice people to talk to!

Well, after a couple of hours of not knowing whether we were doing it right or not we finally managed to kill him!
A big thank you to Xelina, Shaolin Master, Lord SatanaZ, Dark Corrupter, D.D, Chariman Meow and Protron for helping us spawn and take the big baddy down.
A very big sorry to Lord SatanaZ, we just happened across him by accident (Well, Dark Corrupter ran into him on his way to sell before logging) but couldn't spot you on the search bar. The Dominion of Darkness will be only too happy to help you same time next week. (Saturday 12:00 GMT, meet up at the Nerva Wreck). Only fair considering you were mowing those baddies down like anything!
Also just an idea, we ran into Caleb during the day. And I know that whilst there were 5 of us killing Nerva Spectral Daemons at that time there were still a heck of a lot on Thorn Isle that were respawning far too fast for us to make up for it. It's lead me to believe that maybe it's a case of number of enemies killed and not a percentage by sundown.
If anybody is interested in the badge next week please post away or feel free to just meet up at the wreck. We were aimlessly searching and killing for about an hour but it was well worth it! -
Okay, I've had a confirmation from Xelina that she'll be able to make it, and a possible from Shaolin Master too.
Xelina got me this info, so here goes:

Update on the Caleb spawn:
The Americans managed to spawn Caleb on the test server, confirming he is no longer bugged. Apparently, the way to spawn him now is to have defeated most (not all) of the Nerva Spectral Daemons on Thorn Isle by dusk in-game time. Dusk happens every half hour, at approcimately 5 and 35 minutes past the hour (so 10.05, 10.35, 11.05, etc).
Caleb has the standard GM logic running on him, ie he hits you and takes hits from you depending on your level. If he takes off half the health of a lv40 with one hit, he will also take off half the health of a lv1 with one hit (not the same damage, the same percentage).
When Caleb spawns, he does so on the North West end of Thorn Isle, and spawns with a number of NSD's with him. To get the badge, he has the same logic as all other GM's barring Lusca. Each team must do 25% or more damage to him to get the badge. This means that if one team does 80% damage, they are the only ones getting the badge. If ten teams do 10% damage each, NO-ONE is getting the badge.
Caleb can be spawned indefinately, ie after he has been defeated, he can be immidiately re-triggered by defeating many NSD's on Thorn Isle again. He will NOT respawn until dusk hits again the next night (ie 30 minutes later) but if most NSD's are dead by this time the night after he is killed at first, he WILL spawn again.
It also appears that we don't need a huge amount of people to trigger Caleb - one to two teams should suffice (although extra people will always be useful)

Hopefully that clears that up (well, if she's right anyway!)
Can I suggest meeting at the Nerva Wreck badge? seems like a good a place as any.....
If anyone wants to join feel free to post so we can get an idea of numbers. I figure we're going to be needing quite a few people. -
A costume competition? Those seem like rare occurences now
When I first started playing there were loads, but now I hardly see any...
Or it could be the fact that I don't hang around Atlas, or because I'm really trying to reach 40 on my Villain before April -
Great, I think this might have to wait until the next weekend though as I have a friend around. I think if they watched me partake in beating Caleb without them I'd be the one getting killed!
Ah what the heck. Is Saturday (11th) at about 12:00 good for anyone who would like to help?
Also I'd like to point out that I have no idea what we need to do or how many people will be required...
Please let me know
[EDIT]: I will be on as Seventh Legion. -
Great, well I was thinking something like any day at 20:00 as I know some people can't make weekends or weekdays, but I will see how the majority goes.
(If somebody else wouldn't mind setting a time and place to meet that'd be great, my plans normally go to pot if I'm the one that sets them up!) -
Hi there.
I'm not hugely brilliant at organising big things such as this, but was wondering if anyone will be doing whatever it is that's required to spawn Caleb and get his badge.
I'm on the Caleb channel, but nothing much seems to be said there (and it was recomended to me by a friend, so I have no idea if joined someone's personal channel! Apologies if I did!)
If anyone's interested in organising or participating in this please post away! -
I'm not a regular face on this boards posting-wise, but I do really like the community you guys have here. Could Seventh Legion sneak in for a little photo also?
-
I think I was in one mission map (a Council base I think) where we went into a cell and there was a TP dampening effect there.
Couldn't they do the same thing in the base, only for "TP Foeing" people out of it rather then the actual Travel Power itself? -
Wow, this is more then I'd hoped for in a response
. Now I know how to effectively build my character and not annoy my team!
Thanks very much, was worried that excessive use of Gale would make me unpopular, but know I know how to use it effectively. I'll be the best darn Storm Defender out there, you'll see!
Heh... maybe not that good, but thanks very much. I feel a huge boost of self-esteem coming on.
[edit]
And great, my title just got changed to Recruit! Whoo, I owe this topic so much! Now I just need to try and earn me some of those shiny stars...

... altho empaths shouldn't really be anywhere close to the battle to get held....
[/ QUOTE ]
My old Empath was like a marathon runner, SS got me everywhere I needed to be in the nick of time as sometimes the teams can geet split up over mobs if they don't talk to each other.
That can sometimes mean running straight through a mob to get to my friends in time, though I have to admit with my Super Speed I don't get attacked very often. That and I'm a speed freak and have it slotted -
[ QUOTE ]
Trust me when I say that any team that isn't interested in you purely because you're not an empath almost certainly isn't a team that you really want to play with.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ooo ouch, I can understand that with my former Empaths I was very sought after up to a point. And my Corrupter is normally bombarded with /tells of whether I can heal or not, to which my replies are completely ignored "I do have a potent heal, but I focus a lot on debuffing/buffing the enemy and players" (Dark/Kinetics for those who wish to know)
[ QUOTE ]
Ah thatDon't do it! If you have a handy scrapper or tanker about just go hide behind 'em. That's where Stormies get their bad rep in a nutshell - blowing everyone's targets all over the place just as they lined up their big hitter melee attack
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah I was thinking of that, I normally team with my Blaster friend and they don't find it that bad, but I always get a bit more careful in a team of melee people. Running to the side of the enemy in a corridor and pushing them against a wall is something that I'd do more if I were with close-up-and-personal types.
Ta very much all, this little lady's going to be very happy when she gets her first level 50 with this character! -
Hmm, courtesy in PvP huh? Well I think that I'm quite courteous by faceplanting it before anyone else as my skills are absolutely abismal!
Aside from that, if I see a lone player and am feeling confident then I'll most likely attack, then get in a little bit over my head as I'm still completely new to the thing. If they are fighting high level mobs however, I'll tend to leave them be (if they're still weak after the fight though, bad luck my friend...)
One final thing is that I'll never shout abuse or anything to a player, I might send a broadcast asking if anyone is out there, but that's only because sometimes it seems like an area is empty and I generally want to know, not to call people out. If the same player beats on me repeatedly I'll do a nice little "Well done" comment with a nice, but if they keep gunning for me I'll leg it from them as I'm too much of a soty to say "Leave me alone you big bully!"
-
Thanks very much for your advice there, I think I'll be keeping little Strike Thunder now. Nice to know that she's good in PVP also, it'd be nice to have a character who can contribute rather than my Corrupter who just loves faceplanting! Not that I don't expect to faceplant myself, it'd just be nice to be useful before I do
Very nice words, I was wondering whether or not I would be a Scrapper and a Tanker's nightmare because I find that Gale can get me out of a very sticky situation (when it hits!). -
I love playing Defenders to bits as I love to think about what I need to do and last minute, saving people from tight situations.
My first couple of Defenders were Empaths, but as I hit the 25+ levels I soon got bored with her as a lot of my regular teammates were taking very good care of themselves. I was basically the Fortitude, Clear Mind and R/Auras bucket.
So now I though I'd try to go for one which I don't see very often, I've got a nice little "receptionist by day, master of winds by night!!" Storm/Elec Defender which I find quite nice to solo on.
But that's it, apart from my b/f teaming with me I'm mainly solo. I had one really good team but it was full of Controllers so it was hard to tell if I was actually contributing.
I'm only a low level right now and I know at the beginning of the game there is a huge craze for healers, I was just wondering if people would like to team with me more later on or if it's going to stay this way.
Oh and just FYI for those that are interested, I have:-
Storm Summoning
Gale
O2 Boost
Snow Storm
Steamy Mist
Electric Blast
Charged Bolts
I've used this build as I'm hoping that I won't have to be attacking aggressively for a huge portion of the time (considering getting Aim and Tesla Cage later) but if I keep soloing I'm worried that I'll have to focus less on Defending and more on my Electric Blast powerset (which I really hope not!!)
Anyways, that's just my rambling *points back to the thread title incase you forgot what it was* -
Hmm, not sure about what I'm going to call all of mine yet, but I'm going through the phase of giving them names of Operating Systems (excluding MS ones as they don't really have 'the edge')
So far I have:
Master: Seventh Ethereal
Battle Drone 1: Solaris
Battle Drone 2: Ultrix
And the oly name I have planned is that I'm going to call my Assault Bot ALTMIT (as in .hack//) but not sure whether or not to put it in capitals.... -
A general reply to the topic, I have a Dark/Kinetics Corrupter who I adore oh-so much. She's level 27 and has yet to pick her 3rd Kinetics power, though for the time being it's okay as I'm managed to get a nice level of Fitness and Travel Powers.
She's pretty okay for now, her attacks are accurate, and she has (I forget the names) the healing power and attack siphon from Kinetics mainly because I'm used to playing a Defender and getting my <bleepy> kicked as a Blaster and knew I'd be needing it, the damage is a nice way of changing the odds ever so slightly when I'm playing with my nice Robotics/Forcefield MM friend (who's now almost always in my team).
I think that everyone should be allowed to build their characters in their own way, except for my one pet peeve which is when a Corrupter broadcasts "Level x Healer LFT". My instant reaction is 'You're NOT a healer! You have the ability to heal, please don't think that is the purpose of your existence!". But the only reason I think that way is because I hear that most healers have only the heals, and they are unable to protect from damage and rely on the ressurection powers so much. But that's all I hear, I have no experience in that department. -
I've never had stamina before as I'm used to always carrying CaBs with my Empath. Now that I've got a character I actually want to do some damage with though, it's a bit different and I'm wasting a lot of space in my Inspirations for 'Just-in-casers'.
Stamina seems the way forward for me with my Dark/Kinetics build as I use up energy like I munch through chocolate, and espcially with those AoEs, I want to keep pummelling them with my slow and steady attacks so they wonder where their HP went.
Which begs the question, if you're an Endurance hog like myself how many slots do you think it's worth putting on Stamina? Also does it work like your Endurance goes up in faster, small bits or the normal rate with a lot more recovery? I have never used it before and I'm hoping I get it right before I need another reason to Respec -
Heh, my boyfriend's MM pets were the most annoying ones to take care of.
