No new Dom plans currently. These days anything I roll up has to have good AoE capability and the new single target focus of Doms has left me a bit cold. I have a lowbie Plant/Fire I may work up though, and a middling Ice/Psi I may finish.
[/ QUOTE ]
Most likely I will now try to play a couple corruptors,
not sure if I am sold on all the changes to dom's...
Not looking forward to the end drain suckage. -
[ QUOTE ]
Increasing recharge is okay as long as the DPS in total remains about the same.
Inbetween your gaps in your attack chain, you can throw out controls. Remember that doms have a pure dual purpose now: Damage and Control. Do both. All the time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Dominator's always were damage and control if you built it right.
If the dev's didn't want to nerf high level doms they would of put the difference of what was the buff of domination - the buff of overall damage and keep that in domination.
If the dev's didn't want to nerf dom's they wouldn't of made nearly every dom build a end heavy monster.
I feel sorry for those who have to level a dom and maybe even solo one. The extra damage will be ok for the first spawn or two but when you run out of end after 2-3 spawn having to take a rest then watching dom drop while in rest.
Then work to get dom back up only to have to rest a spawn or two after you get it up. Watching it drop again.
A spawn or two might go a slight bit quicker while out of dom initially but because you will have to rest and wait between spawns now missions will ultimately take longer to complete.
It is the ability to keep constant control and damage not a small burst then have to rest that will make doms better.
So a way to make this work as not a nerf...
1. Give the difference of the damage buff back to domination.
2. Give us our Endurance back
3. Cut back on some of the recharge added to powers.
4. Or the best way is not to mess with it and leave as is the current damage is very nice on doms built right you can have good damage with consistant DPS. -
This doesn't not help the overall performance. You took a smooth running sleek AT, and tried to turn into a slow playing end heavy AT.
Taking the damage bonus away from domination and giving a weak overall damage bonus still cuts down on the overall potential of dominators. Overall performance is degrated.. when the overall performance is degraded that is not a buff in my book but a nerf.
Saying you are going to give powers a damage boost then making it barely noticible in comparison. Then increasing recharge time so having to wait on powers and an costing and arm and a leg to cast... Doesn't sound like a buff to me.
I move through a very fast and rapid damage over time attack chain. Continuous DPS is the key not this ohh I hit a little harder and now lets wait for the power to come back.
Making the AT go from a fast moving hard hitting AT to an AT that has to take rests and breaks.
Like putting a monster truck engine in a racing car.. it does not work.
You can put a dress on a pig but it doesn't make it any less of a pig. You can say buff all day long but this is is a nerf of dom's overall potential. -
I went on test to see how well they fixed things and it seems domination has about as much use as a defenders vigilance solo.
Sooo next I take it the brutes fury bar is going to the way of the dodo too. -

Didnt stalker players freak out when they buffed your dmg and then in a consequent buff, buffed the PvP res?
I have not played my dom...(Mind/Psi) in test yet, might do it tonight but I am freaked out about the nerfs /Psi got...can you explain to me if there is a dual code to this?
Did they Nerf the power but buff the Dom scalers so that the overall dmg is met at an even good?
I am confused and at work at 10:14PM EST
[/ QUOTE ]\
Yeah the dev's did such a good job I have not played my stalker since. I am sure they will do such a good job on this I will probably have to shelf my 3 perma doms too.
As a vet I am tired of having reroll my toons to not have them suck and feel worthless to play after the Dev's do thier "fixing".
I am sure by the time they are done we will all be square faces with the same powers... oh my mistake Rouge square faces. -
I would have to say the actual number is significantly less then 127k. I am one person and I would count for 4 people since I have 4 accounts and many of my friends have 2-3 accounts...
I have been very unhappy with current events in the game also. The willy nilly threats of banning, calling everyone who used MA cheaters, the blattent disregard for customer service... I have yet to get some customer service rep to respond when ever I have had a bug happen in game. Had to either quit, restart, the mission or TF all the time... the couple times I have got someone on it was way to late. They don't fix problems to make the game smoother. If I wanted to play in a buggy, non reliable play enviroment I would be on the test server.
They have till my subscription runs out to change my mind about not renewing.
I am becoming more and more discontent with this game. If it wasn't for the people play with I would probably already of changed games. -

Sb in a channel asked if anyone needed the Baphomet badge (Demon Slayer, it turned out to be) and i wasn't sure about it but it didn't ring a bell, so I figured i'd do it anyway. Got Demon Slayer and the gladiator, went to info to see what it looked like, and there I am at 601 badges! Fantastic!
Another milestone along the road to 1k!

and when you got rogue you will lose most like 80 of them lol welcome back to the not 600 club. -
I have an NG stalker not really worth it any more... doesn't do the burst damage for PVP anymroe... and PVE doesn't really have any kind of mitigation or aoe to help with Spawns... I have not been able to play my stalker ever since they did there "FIX".

I've been going to PvP zones recently to try to find people to PvP. 3 months into the game (I found out I just got the 3 month veteran reward today. I don't know how long I've had it) I keep finding PvP zones... empty... I tried the arena and people are only using it to farm. Recipes I guess.
What is it that makes PvP so unappealing to others that I can't find anyone in PvP zones. I understand that some people go into /hide often, but I have only seen people entering to get Shivans or Rockets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well to be honest the pvp zones are empty because the Dev's in there INFINATE WISEDOM, like everything they have been doing lately decided to FIX pvp...
They made it so "anyone" can compete in a pvp zone... Well what happened was the people who did only PVP and love the PVP in the game quit and well the people they wanted to include in the pvp portion of the game....
Well still don't pvp. Now no one uses the PVP zones anymore it was a brilliant move, I never saw it coming lol. -

As far as this player knows, this is the most efficient and effective way to clean out whole rooms full of baddies. It does NOT always work perfectly. Oftentimes in caves there is not a good corner to stack the mobs on. Sometimes pillars are used to stack them up. There are variations on the same theme though. The important thing is that noone but the herder draw aggro until the beatdown ciommmences.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you have a good team, it is much more efficient to run-and-gun, killing the bad guys where they stand.
A good team has enough AOE/damage to kill things quickly, enough control/taunt to mitigate the alpha round of attacks from the spawn, and enough buff/debuff/heals to withstand the rest of the fight.
It's not hard to get that team composition together via inviting the proper archetypes, for the proper team mix.
Sure, if you only have 1 tank and 1 healing defender, and a bunch of minus-4-to-the-mobs lowbies, then herding may be your only option for safety. But if you build a proper team, killing as you go is measurably faster.
Use HeroStats; measure your xp per minute. You'll find I speak the truth.
[/ QUOTE ]
That since the Agro cap of 17. Herding is more time consuming then it is worth. You get the CLOS (congo line of stupidity) and you are killing Mobs as they come to you.
when your taunt duration wears off the excess MOBS past the 17 you agroed will either spread out and go back where they started or they will kill the blaster.
Steamrolling goes much faster, with Bunching instead, bring one to two groups together. for quicker aoe killing. Much more then that and you start getting the CLOS.
Corner pulling is a good technique the "herd to here" and is a very safe technique exspecially if you have a squishier tank who can't take the damage of all those MOBS or Lacks the support toons to properly buff or heal the tank and team.
Unfortunatly the days of Map agroing are over. -

Now this is a moot point when on a team of 6-8 is fight spawns on INV and the person taking the missions is +5 levels higher then the next level. Unless that toon can solo that mish Make up will not matter. No matter how good a player you are you are going to get squished everytime a small mistake happens.
[/ QUOTE ]
8 frads can do it. not worth the xp/min, but they can do it quite safely. back then we didn't do it that much because of how much time it took (ie, those 20 extra secs per spawn add up quickly).. in fact, i remember going against lvl 20's when i was lvl 15. we pwn'd.
[ QUOTE ]
A 9 year old can run a team that is an "optimized" team, we let my friends 9 year old do it too. (was an all SG been playing with each other for 6 months.) But he was calling the shots. Did what he wanted, pull or rush ect.
[/ QUOTE ]
"pull"
"rush" are not advanced tactics at all.
advanced tactics is me having a tell convo with the defender so i can put disruption on him, have him run in and nuke without taking an alpha because the mobs would look at me.
advanced tactics is "hey corrs, team tp, ready it up", nd the kins queue up FS automatically, while the others hover over the nuke button waiting for the port to end so the spawn can be cleared in 2 seconds).
advanced tactics is putting disruption on a cloaked ill/ troller and having him agro the 5 mobs towards you while you hide and wait with the rest of the team (makes a herding tanker feeling like crap).
[ack! i hate the disruption nerf!!!]
...can a 9 year old pull that? haha no way.
that's how you really run a team.
sadly there are two many morons in this game for most of that to be applicable to a pug.
[/ QUOTE ]
You talk about so many moron's in this game, by being sarcastic and spitful you do not help that "situation". If you can want to be more helpful bring up some good advance techniques people will listen this is a guide post.
I never said it could not be done, I said it would be difficult to fight that mish. and no matter how good the players are it will be difficult.
Your math is wrong lvl 15 fighting lvl 20 would be 2-3 levels above you on Inviicible. 5 lvls on invicible would be LVL 22-23's. throwing in boss's. you are still looking at player deaths.
I.E PLing LVL 50 has a team of LVL 45's they are fighting LVL 52-53. deaths will happen.
Your techniques sounds fun and I would like to try it but wouldn't it be easier for your 8 rads to steamroll over each group in the time it would take to herd all those groups.
But then that goes to what does the map look like, and what is your team make up.
(Dispertion Cap, Agro Cap)
Well if we needed the 9 year old to do your Ill/rad disburtion bubble we would of taught him that.
I never claimed that the 9 year old was using advance techniques. Like I was saying with a team of good players you don't need advance tactics.
We did that to teach the 9 year old how to run a team so when we were not around he wouldn't be so lost. (you know help out the SG thing)
We are not far off on our views about team make up is only a small part of being a leader.
I know some of the techniques i like is the tanker taunt hold on an AV. two tankers compete for taunt over the AV and are on opposite sides of the AV. If all goes well the AV AI will not attack because it will constantly switch it's target between the two tanks.
TP Scrapper/tank into Mez'd group. let them avoid the initial agro they get while the approach the group.
some times the best technique is a simple technique, not need to over complicate things on a PUG.
Why make things harder then they are. -
Team make up is only a small part of being a leader.
It is how you run your tactics with the team you got. How the personalities mesh and play styles mesh.
Defender/controller debuff/buffs stack
Double SB/Double FS
2 TB's running
12 imps killing the board (might be bad. When good pets go wild.)
To say I can not have another tank because I have 3 of them already is crazy talk about crazy damage mitigation. blasters, scrappers, trollers, and defenders have no problem doing there jobs.
ohh I have a Rad can't get another one. ohh don't want double bubbles my blasters might hate that.
ohh have 4 scrappers have to find a kin or emp can't get me a TA or FF.
I am on a team of blasters a kin is useless.
These are all myths.
Been on many teams that look like dang how do they complete missions nothing matches to many blasters, not enough healing/buffing. No agro management. We have steam rolled through missions.
Been on team that are "optimized" and got wiped because someone doesn't want to help, or only thinks there job is a little part of what they can do. Or they don't even do there part a blaster who sits and watches the battle.
Someone who says I have a PVP tank so I don't hold agro and I don't care if the team dies I won't.
This is what makes bad teams the players who play the toons not so much the toon make up. 70% Player 30% team make up.
Now this is a moot point when on a team of 6-8 is fight spawns on INV and the person taking the missions is +5 levels higher then the next level. Unless that toon can solo that mish Make up will not matter. No matter how good a player you are you are going to get squished everytime a small mistake happens.
Someone who can analyze the situation, see who is on my team, know who you are fighting, and what tactics need to change because of the map can lead a team effectively.
A 9 year old can run a team that is an "optimized" team, we let my friends 9 year old do it too. (was an all SG been playing with each other for 6 months.) But he was calling the shots. Did what he wanted, pull or rush ect. -
[/ QUOTE ] I think one thing should be added to the list of leading a team. If someone does not have their "Seek Team" toggled, DO NOT invite them to be on a team without asking. Nothing aggro's me more than to be bombarded with invites when i was trying to solo. Not everyone wants to be on a team all the time.
Just my $.02
[/ QUOTE ]
More people do not toggle there seek team on when they would not mind a team. That is why they have a NOT seeking team were your name is red name. I have picked up some of my best PUGs by just doing what I wanted and they saying what the heck I will join you.
If I am busy a nice response back saying not interested now but maybe later have a good day goes to good relations with toons later. If my name is Red I dont get any responces since they can not invite me.
[/ QUOTE ] 1 - I cant stress enough the importance of recruiting a balanced team. I try to recruit within two levels of myself up or down. I also attempt to find one of each archetype. This may not be completely necesary, but it has never hurt me. Besides I feel bad for Tanks, so I like to make sure I always have at least one.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can not always have a balanced team in an ideal world yes that is what you want. A good leader is forgiving of team mistakes. Analysiss the situation and makes tactical adjustments in how we are going to tackle this mission.
I also like to look at each individual build
MOBS will react different to a fire tank then how they will react to stone and an inv
FF, Dark, Kin, and Emp are all different play styles
Fire Blasters play different then Ice Blaster.
Know the Mobs you are fighting.
Freaks bunch well
COT uses lots of holds a /dark scrapper can tank them well because of there natural negative energy defense.
Nemisis snipers dont pull well.
Council war wolves hit squishes really really hard
Ect.
Know your terrain
What can you use to break LOS
Approaching Spawns from over here gives me this advantage
What direction are the mobs facing, what mobs are intertwined agro and which is separate.
See how your team plays after the first wipe figure out what caused that was it a wayward blaster, a tank that couldnt hold agro or take that agro (I.E. no defensive toggles on)
Does the troller lay down there AOE before battle. People dont always know certain game mechanics. (to be honest I dont think I know all the game mechanics at times.)
If you can work through it let it ride but if it is an extreme detriment let them know what is happening on the team have them make some team adjustments.
An assessment is needed after the addition and subtraction of each player.
Simple commands can work
Target through me --- pulling
All behind *****
Ect ect
Well not tank so agro management will be difficult might have to ensure mass hypnotis is up to pose pone the alpha strike. Only blasters available better make sure I can buff there defense some. Well we are going to have to pull this because the level is too high for this PUG (next mission I will lower it some.) Dang no healers/buffers/debuffers available out there going to have to wait between groups a little
A good leader can make a bad pug into a survivable one. (might be slow and painful)
All else fails grab one of the 50s exemp down and assist in steam rolling through the mish.
There is so many more things I could go on. These are just some of things that go through my head.
