To be honest, I got myself a Scrapper Kat/Regen/Stamina/SS from lvl 1 to lvl 31 in a matter of weeks, and as of now, my scrapper is pretty much unstoppable. I heard someone say I had build a tank that can hit critical hits once.
Although I know this build is not unique and was tried often. I truly like jumping into large groups of enemies. Slaying everything and move to the next group. My Stamina regen is so high that even with all my buffs and fighting, I can still keep up my superspeed in case I need a quick retreat. Best build I have ever made.
But from a different point of view. I've seen people wasting large groups with relative ease with a Fire/Fire controller. -
Maybe its me, but do I know you from Aion?

I havent read the whole thread but I use a Geforce 9800 GX2, is that better or worse then Geforce 9800 GT

Havent played any Hero game in 3 years, so basically, its good to know they arent the same company anymore, but still, I have to agree that CoX is far superior then CO turned out to be.
Editted: And started re-playing CoX recently. Been a while, so I'm sorry for ym ignorance. Thank you for keeping me informed -
To be honest, CoX and CO are from the same company, so I doubt the competition really exists. If it would be from a forum of, lets say, DC universe online, then perhaps the post would have meant something.

Quote:I have to admit, I did miss a lot of changes, and to my surprise, CoX is still a thriving business, I think I'm going to stick around for a little while, see how the game will evolve with this new expansion. Beside, as you mentioned, lots of changes happened in 3 years, so basically, for me, it is a new game but with pre-built characters" I did miss my old charactersBut 3 years ago, there was no Mission Architect, no Orobouros, no Midnighter's club, no Wentworths, no Universities, no Cimerora, nobody in the Hollows, or Faultline, fewer people in the RWZ, etc. etc.
I agree with others who say the perceived drop in population can safely be attributed to the fact that there are tons more places for people to go and hang out and do missions and shop and craft and on and on and on.
We don't all just hang out in Atlas & P.I. anymore, we actually y'know...do stuff.
With twice as many places for players to go, the population in any one place is going to seem, well...less.
P.S. There's a running thread in the City Life section using available real-world facts and figures to try and determine actual population and population trends over the past few years.
And remember: The only way to guarantee you're always on a fun team is to form one yourself...
Here's how.)"

Last little question, since I have gathered more information on this thread then anywhere else for that matter lol.
I play on Freedom, back in the days, freedom used to be the" large pop" server, now I heard it is the "PvP Server" So what are the unofficial title of servers nowadays and which would be considered with the largest Pop?
"Also noticed a lot fo team invite in Freedom Rogue Island compared to none in Paragon City, is there a lack of villains in Freedom?" -
Quote:Well, I would hope so, they are epic archetype afterall, I would hope they are good enough to deserve the word "Epic" lol, I admit they have "interesting" aspect to them, will have to try them out when they unlock at level 20 and see for myself.they sound worse on paper..err computer screen, but I actually find night widows to be amazing. soldiers are nice too, particularly crab spiders, but dont be too thrown by their generic concept and weaker origin story, they play amazingly. and on a team with their stacking tactics powers, they become game breakers.

Quote:So I noticed, level 20, which means it will unlock my epic archetype for my villains, never got a villain past level 20 to be honest. But I have been reading through the Villains epic archetype, and somehow, they dont appeal to me as much as the WS and PB, perhaps because WS and PB is more exotic.Datamining seems to show that the EATs are not as popular as the other ATs. For one thing, even today, there are lots of players who don't have a level 50 character to unlock them. I know I still don't have a level 50 villain, even though I started my highest level villain on CoV pre-start weekend.
Coming soon (Issue 17 IIRC, but at least in GR at the latest), the EATs on both sides will be available after a player has a level 20 character in the appropriate faction. Yay! I will finally be able to play around with SoAs! -
Quote:Figures...It's marked on the map in Kings Row, Talos Island & Founders Falls for heroes. I know the one in KR is in the back of a truck down the hill from Blue Shield, the Talos one is net to the Freedom Corps store in another storefront, and the FF one is under a bridge. I am assuming that it is also marked on the Villain maps (one is Port Oakes just up from the ferry from Mercy) - but since I also have the Good vs. Evil item pack, I just use my Pocket D VIP Pass to 'port directly to the Tiki Lounge.
The GvsE pack was a good buy for that reason alone., well, I preordered the going rogue expansion, I wasnt sure at first, but then I told myself after much much thought" There are no good MMO's out there right now that appeals to me as much as good ol's CoX. Perhaps in the near future but this is months away"
Thanks for the info for pocket D, dunno if I'll go but if I need to, at least I know how -
Question, just out of misguided curiosity, does anyone still play the epic archetype, created a warshade recently and I must admit, of all the people I saw, including the looking for team searchbar which shows all who are online, didnt see any of them.

Quote:Actually, been checking Paragon Wiki for a while now, it helped me a bit to build some of my newer characters.Paragonwiki is a great place to find info like that I still have to keep checking it as well as Vidiotmaps any time I'm playing redside. Even after all this time, I still don't know it as well as I do blueside.

Quote:True, but what fascinate me is the fact that CoX, even after 3 years, is still very much alive compared to newer game. To me, that makes the difference between "shiny new" and " old but quality proven"as per globals, i just checked the pinnacle forums, and apparently you should check out pinnbadges, they may be the channel you need. I dont have any characters there myself. yeah, the pop has dipped a little, the last few issues have been largely quality of life changes(check out the alternate animations for martial arts and super strength), and some have been hurting for missions, i'd expect things to pick up with gr. also there was free server transfers a while a go, so some people switched servers, from what i understand pvpers generally clustered towards freedom, so that may be affecting pinn's numbers too.
as for co..i like it myself, but it really did not do much to coh, if anything we have had a few threads (which may be indicative of nothing) where co's performance actually lead new people here, co is kind of hurting right now. -
Quote:yeah, plus I heard Champions online was not that great of a game which makes CoX the best super hero based mmo out there at this time. The expansion will bring old and new players back. The population is down a bit. NCSoft no longer releases the hard number of how many players there are, but they do release their quarterly earnings statements. As TonyV posted Here, they are about the same as they were in the first quarter of 2008. We have a new issue about to come out as well as the first major expansion since CoV came out in 2006. We should see an increase in population with both of them.
-
Quote:I wish I remembered how to get to pocket D. lol, sound so amateur from someone who played since launch...lolVery little of the game takes place in the overworld. Most players are in one instance or another somewhere, teaming, SFing, in their base, being filthy in Pocket D, et cetera. That's why globals are so good. They will get you in touch with people you might never encounter.

To be honest, when I came back to CoX, I didnt expect to see anyone, but I have to admit, even with a lower population, the game still has a sizable fan base.
Plus, NCsoft didnt sit there doing nothing, tons of material was added, tons of update and by god a new expansion, for a game that old, it must mean something.
Aion felt more dead then CoX feels right now, which is kind of sad considering one is barely a year old in NA while the other just reached its 6 years mark.
Edit: also to add to that, majopr graphic overall, which I believe is the best move an older mmo can possibly do. Something Blizzard seems to constantly forget ;op -
Quote:I noticed super sidekicking the first day I came back, my old super group which somehow still existed mentored me to their level so I could play and noticed the major difference. Perhaps thats why the game feels empty, because people are either in architect having a blasts or teaming their low level heroes/villains to play with high levels people.Three years ago, people still did street sweeping. One of the biggest changes to the game is Super Side Kicking, which allows anyone of any level team with anyone else and still gain XP. Travel has become easier, so much more of the population than ever before is in instanced missions.
Another plus" Architect Tickets" God I love those things, can upgrade my powers without using any influence. Wicked bonus from a guy who never loved crafting. -
Quote:Did you mention cave maps!!!"trembles in fear in the corner" oh yeah...I remember those, use to have nightmares about those dreaded missions.Ok...ummm CoX? Is that the new term for CoH/CoV combined? I just started a new toon. Although I have two level 50s on Pinacle, I felt like an idiot to try and play them right away. I mean, if I did find a team they'd be pretty upset to find a lvl50 defender who had trouble remembering what key to press for simple replies.
I played when there were teleporters in the guilds/bases. I think I remember clubs around towns with teleportation capabilities too. However, that's about it for my knowledge. Global channels...hmm I'm guessing that's just the chat feature...perhaps a channel I need to join?
I played Warhammer Online for a while; but it died about a year after open for me. What a dissapointment. Aion...well it just wasn't the grind I wanted. I played DAoC for many years; loved it. For some reason, the team play in this game and the foes; despite my loathing of those idiotic cave maps, is the only game I can tolerate PvE over PvP. Most people aren't jerks and the game seems to really have a nice balance for team building.
I bought the rogue expansion and look forward in finding a good team to migrate into. I still feel like a total newb with all the new stuff in the system and the keyboard mapping I have long forgotten.
CoX is a quick term for CoH/CoV. And dont worry about forgetting things, hell, I completeley forgot how the game worked when I restarted playing a week ago, at least I know the basics now but there is still a lot I dont remember. -
I have to admit, I also came back from a 3 years long absence and noticed a massive drop in pop. I play on freedom which used to be full of people, crazy what 3 years can do. But honestly, after playing Vanguard Saga of heroes, Pirates of the Burning Seas, Bloodymare and more recently Aion, I have to admit CoX always had that thing with me that brings me back, no matter how empty the server is or how hard it is to find a team. Mind you, the architect option really kept me busy ever since I returned and I guess my love for the game has also returned in a grand way as I play CoX just like I used too when I first bought it, game is very different from the last time I remember and most issue I had back then with the game has been fixed and/or improved.
