Sorry for disappearing, but I decided in the end to drop the Dirk part of my story as I've decided to keep my characters off the boards and solely in game now for the time being. Thanks for mentioning Jenny though I initially decided that she would have hired Dirk Knightly the P.I. to track down the alternate Tomb and bring her back to be rehabilitated with the other twin/clone, but meh..

"I'm pretty screwed to be honest."

"Oh that is so terrible! Deary me!"

I glance down at the cheque sticking out of my pocket. Technically I had found the girl. I should probably contact my client and ask how to proceed now I knew where the kid was. Well, I knew for sure she was on this Island now.

"My employer has given me carte blanche on expenses, so just let me know if there's anything at all I can do."

I reeled off the number from the fake business card. It did actually come through to my office, but to another phone that I kept just for this purpose.

"Take care Miss Tomb, please don't hesitate to telephone if there's anything you think of that I may be of assistance with."

    With that, I hung up.

I rooted around in my pants pocket again, hoping to come up with another quarter. My luck was in. I shoved the coin in the slot and hastily dialled the number for my client.

"Hello Miss? Yes.. I've found her. On the Island, yes. No means of escape apparently. Sounds like a volcano has erupted, ash in the air, jet-pack useless. Teleportation not an option. She mentioned heading up to the surface, so yes, underground likely. Yes... yes... okay."

    I hung up.

Gawd I hated jobs like these.

“Currently my island is besieged by the forces of well they’d call themselves justice, and the turn out for the annual ‘Monster mash ‘. So I’m afraid the only way I’ll be appearing in your magazine is if you’re running a ‘Stars in Prison Stripes’ edition, or as its looking increasingly more likely, in the obituaries section.” She quirks a little smile as she says that.

I'm so sorry to hear that Miss Tomb! Is there any way perhaps I could meet you on your Island before your guests arrive? Or are you cut off without any means of escape? Not even a secret tunnel to safety?

You see, my client is most insistent! We could make a feature of it if your were to survive. Action shots, that kind of thing perhaps?

I'm not used to overly dangerous situations, but if needs must then I suppose I shall have to do my darndest to come to you! I don't suppose there's a safe way I could get to where you are?
  7. Liz Bathory - Considering that:

    Witihin the Mine
Emerald and the DeFeurards may not have been much affected by the eruption that sent deafening crashes through the mine, but Vyachslav certainly was.

Lucard soon lost sight as he flew down the mine.

Destroyer was In the elevator heading down before he walked into the room, slowly looking around at the armless forms.

How in hell did Elizabeth get all the way down to where Destroyer is without passing or interacting with anyone?
  8. The Phonecall

A phonebooth somewhere in Cap au Diable

I reached in to my coat pocket, pulling out a few tatty business cards, each of them with an alias I'd used before. I shuffled through them one handed, running the titles through my mind "Dog catcher... nope. Antique dealer... nope. Estate agent.. nope. Ah... Girls4Guns Magazine! That might just work."

I put on my best gay affectation as I spoke in to the receiver.

"Well hello there Miss Tomb! I'm so sorry to disturb you but my client was most insistent that I contact you right away! My name's Tobias McTavish and I work for the magazine Girls4Guns and my boss told me I just had to find you!"

"We were wondering if it would be possible to set up an interview within the next couple of days as my client is most anxious to meet you in person. You see, they spotted you in The Store and just knew you'd be perfect for the job!"

"They just have to have you! Of course, it pays very well, and all your expenses would be met. Would you like me to pop by The Store say, tomorrow so we could discuss things further?"

"If that's inconvenient just suggest a time and a place."

I smiled, hoping that it would carry across in to my voice, waiting for a response.
  9. In a run down office building somewhere in Cap au Diable

The small dingy office was dimly lit by a single desk lamp. The pool of light illuminating a large leather topped desk, which was currently strewn with various photographs, papers, newspaper cuttings and other odds and ends.

The frosted glass door was slightly ajar and had the words "Dirk Knightly: Private Detective" printed neatly across it, and the sign beside the door read, "Knightly Affairs Detective Agency".

Behind the desk a man wearing white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, brown slacks and brogues, reclined in a worn leather chair, a frown creasing his brow as he stared at the print-out of an email.

    Dear Sir/Madam/Genderless being

My name is Tomb, I’m a very bad super villain, my base is located on La Isla de la Muerte Insólito. I am also the one who killed your <insert lost one here>

Alternatively, my lab of highly lootable custom weapons, expensive gear and super serums, is located on La Isla de la Muerte Insólito.

    Tomb
    Ps.
Would you like a bigger pen 15?

I glanced at the accompanying letter, it simply said, "Find her". Had a photograph of a cute little blonde girl standing in what looked like a hardware store and the words "The Store" scribbled beneath. The return address was a P.O. Box and there was a phone number. A cheque for a quite considerable amount of money had been paperclipped to the top.

I rubbed my eyes. It was late, but a case is a case. The broad who'd delivered the letter had been a rather good looking brunnette, although a little on the short side for my tastes. She'd claimed she was delivering it for a 'friend', but i had my doubts. I was being paid, so it didn't really matter I guess.

I wondered if anyone had actual proof that this kid, Tomb, was actually on this Island. Had anyone actually spotted her there? I should probably visit one or two of the shady travel agents in the area, ask if any boats or plane's went to this place. Maybe the kid had chartered one.

I vaguely remembered hearing about a kid who ran a place called The Store from one of my 'associates'. Maybe I should pay the place a visit. I rummaged around all the paperwork on my desk, finding nothing useful and knocking a few more papers off on to the already messed up floor. I really needed to think about getting a cleaner.

"First things first," I mused out loud, "Gotta find the number for The Store."

I picked up the old style 1930's phone, an old black Crosley Kettle model, to call for directory assistance, but the thing was dead. "Dammit. Forgot to pay the bill again."

A short while later I left my office and wandered out on to the grim streets of Cap au Diable to find a phone booth. It was raining cats and dogs so I pulled the collar of my leather trenchcoat higher and tilted my fedora a little lower to keep the rain out of my face.

I finally found a booth that hadn't been vandalised and still had it's battered copy of the White Pages hanging from a chain. I thumbed quickly through the pages looking for 'The Store'. It had a witty ad above the phone number. I reached in to my trouser pocket and pulled out a handful of small items. Rooting through the contents, amongst the fluff, I found a quarter. I dropped it in the slot and dialed the number....
  10. I've finally gotten around to sorting out some of the photo's from the event!

    They can be found.... here.

I'll try and add a few more over the next few days.

Thank you all again for turning up

*All photos copyright Kallandra (except the two group shots taken by the owner of Global Gaming which may be used without permission). Please ask if you'd like to use any, and make sure you credit them thanks.
  11. Day one seemed to go well Hope you all had fun!

I've taken a few photo's which I'll sort out (read photoshop) and stick up after the weekend. Oh, if someone could let me know where those videos end up

Hoping day two goes as well!

Thank you We all wish you were here as well! I shall be taking lots of photos over the next couple of days Also, thank you sooooo much for the new forum titles for myself and Liz!

I popped in to Global Gaming earlier tonight and spoke with the staff and it's a really nice place, very welcoming and friendly too.

Thanks to Gohan661, Crimson Archer, CBeet, Ryrukin, Eleven, Liz, Chaos Womble for managing to make it to the meet up tonight. Sorry if anyone went to the pub and didn't see us there, we decided it was a little loud and too cold to stay outside so ended up going back to the hotel for a nice sit down and a drink.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow around 10am... I'm afraid I didn't bring my box though, so I'll be the twitchy small person in the chair trying to hide behind my camera or laptop :P
  14. It looks like it's going to be Scruffy Murphy's for those wishing to meet up. I've not left the house in quite some time, so no idea of times for going to these places... I'll suggest 8pm? Gives folks time to settle in their respective hotels etc.. I've been told by Crimson Archer that it's an alternative/rock pub which usually has live bands upstairs, so we can always chat outside if it gets a little noisy...

If folks don't like it there we can always go around the corner to The Square Peg, which is a McPub/Wetherspoons...
  15. I'm suggesting everyone gets to Global Gaming tomorrow (Saturday) for around 10am - so it gives you all a chance for a nice lie in after your travels etc

Not sure what establishment we're meeting at tonight yet, although it's been suggested either Scruffy Murphy's, The Square Peg or The Newt. I'll post more when I have details for those that will be coming (and txt those I have numbers for).

Should be! They said in their email that "there is space in the same area for approximately 8 more computers if players want to bring there own and a second room which can hold 8 more computers." Making space for 16 extra! And there's 8 folks bringing their own laptops, so far, which would make you number 9
  22. I will more than likely be dressed similar to Kall.... and in a wheelchair, so watch yer toes!

    Or maybe a box....

You were allocated a 'puter quite early on, no.2 on the list iirc :P
  24. The last 2 computers have now been allocated to Grouchybeast and Archie!

All 15 computers are now taken (although I know some of you are only planning on coming for the Saturday, some for the Sunday and some both lol, so hopefully if i've mis-counted there'll be at least one spare somewhere on one of the days!) I think the rest have said they're bringing laptops *phew!*

*Panics some more* See you all a week on Friday/Saturday!
