You can't find a team even among your SG? Burnout happens, but I don't see the causality between this and the introduction of merits.

Traditional mission-based PL is even less efficient in terms of getting what you want than before. You'll get to 50 all right, but with no merits.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You got it wrong we team all the time, we even do TF's once or twice a week. The issue is that we were happy with the way the old system worked! We had fun running a Synaps or Numina then running a quick Katie after. When the shiny became more like a Job then a what did you get at the end of the TF it just sucked the life out of us! I have 4 toons that have anywhere from 50 to 200 merits on them right now so its not like we don't run TF's we just don't get excited about them like we used to.

You know when I think about it the only thing I like about the merit system is the ability to eventually buy what I want. The reality is that that most of he people I know that have been playing this game since the begging were more disappointed with this release then any other change in the game as all it did was create a secondary monetary system and made the game more like a job than a fun time

I also should not have to run solo content to get merits! This just spits in the face of every player that has been here more than a year as many many changes were made over the years in the name of Team playing and the want of the Devs to force teaming on the masses.

The irony is that the merit system has basically strengthened all of those activities it set forth to fix in the first place.

Could you explain what these are? Cause I'm confused as since I13 hit I have a harder time finding teams and unless I spend huge hours running TF's I can't get the drops that I want.

In effect most of our SG has lost interest in the game! We used to play 20+ hours a week now we play less than 8! I spend more time on other games and watching TV then I do on COH and when I do get on COH the only thing we generally do is PL. Heck we just setup a bunch of Packs just to PL toons to 50 this weekend but still we have no real interest in playing the game other than leveling the characters!

    THIS

As a player who's play style has never included running lots of TF/SF I have pretty much always relied on the market as my primary source of IOs. And that source appears to be drying up. We probably won't know the full impacts and where the new equilibriums lie for quite some time, but the current trends indicate a heck of a lot of hoarding going on - which is never good for any economy.

I think that part of the problem is the sheer complexity of the current system. How is the average player supposed to know what all those drop pools and level ranges mean when it comes to what they can expect to get? Better to just hold on to the merits and buy exactly what they want. The pool system might have kind of maybe made sense when it was a random reward at the end of a TF. For the current system is makes no sense whatsoever and just adds to the confusion and lack of immersion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is something that I have said before, we the common players are all hording our merits to buy the shiney that we really want. I have looked at the merit system several times and I still don't get it, I even did a random roll once choosing the area below 45 for TF drops and it still have me a level 50! This tells me that I have no idea how the confounded thing works and I'm better off saving up to buy exactly what I want.

The real problem at this point is the market is so low that I cannot even begin to put sets on my new characters without farming!

So now I spend all my time running the same map over and over again with our 4 accounts logged in just looking for drops! I log all of my toons off in the O portal just to hopefully increase the chance to get better drops. I don't team with anyone other than SG members as It pisses me off when I have been farming for hours for drops someone new joins and 2 groups in they get a purple.

We made several new toons and used the pack system and continually put them in when we farm just to get them levels.

So now I have officially become a farmer because the merit system totally messed up the market! I have even used the secondary build on toons to make them just for running quicker TF's to get the merits and have been ignoring toons that need the badge as I want to build up and many merits as I can on those few toons!

You know, honestly WOW may be slow moving but what makes it fun for me is the loot, finding better and better items is way more fun than just grinding the same content over and over just to get the merits to buy the item!

Please I beg you give us our random drop option at the end of he TF, Hell The Respec TF sucks now if you ghave already done the thing and cant take the respec. I would rather get the random drop at the end than the merits and why the hell is the Eden trial worth so little!! Again I ask can we please have Mary back as a reward even though we have gotten her before!! Or make her a permanent temp that you can pull out every 30 min! Its bullcrap that when I do that TF more than once I no longer get her as a reward.

Stop sucking all the fun out of the game!!!

  4. I think something that no one has pointed out is that many of us are hording our drops. I know that everyone in our sg has stopped putting recipes even useless one for sale in WW and started just making them and storing them for that future toon. My lowest toon on my main account is a 36 and I have not made a new one since I13 came out as the new power sets just seem bland (IMHO) so I don't need much in the way of sets as most of my 50's have decent builds on them and since I don't PVP (as I always get PWND) I have no need to do the dual build thing. I do have a PB that just hit 47 and I may use some sets for her but in all reality I think I will just use a few KB procs as well as some of the lower sets that help reduce negative nrg dmg.

I don't think the market will clean up until I14 hits and ppl concentrate on the content rather than the loot. I would like to see them give the option for the random TF pool drop rather than merits as it always seemed to be a bit more exciting and all the merits I get I would just rather wait and buy the items I want then spend them on a random roll that may not produce anything usefull to me.

I don't know how to fix the system but its definitely not as much fun as it used to be! I have not even been to any of the PVP zones since the change as I was so discusted with the PVP changes and as an SG we have spent more time lately just doing AV mssions and the ocasional low end TF when someone needs the badge. Thie merits actualy had the reverse effect for our group, we used to do an average of 4 TF's a week and many times we would do a quick Katie after a normal TF just for the fun. Its like Merits just sucked all the fun out of the game.

While we are at it could one of you DEV's take a moment and give Katie back as a reward to the players that have already used her up? Never understood why she was taken away as its always good to have Katie on your side when you alone in the dark and need a friend!

Has anyone noted the number of ppl playing on the servers? It seems really small these days!

    Hi:

I hear a lot of complaints about how long it takes to gain merit awards, and truly it is not that bad.

Considering that the best IO recipe cost 250 Merits, how long does it really take to get, if one is smart.

There are three different leveled re-speccs, each awards about 25 merits a piece and can be done within an hour (with a good group). Also Manticore awards about 25 Merits and can be done in an hour. So if you do these 4 TFs you get 100 merits, in just 4 hours, yuo can repeat this for the next two days and end up with 300 Merits!, that is 300 merits in 12 hours of play, that is not really bad, whn you think of it.

But I see a lot of pro market folks, slamming the merit system, do they have a conflict of interests? You bet they do.

Lets explore a Miracle +Recovery level 20, 250 award merits (10 hours of TF work) or 60 Million influence at the Market.

Lets see here, a good farm team can harvest 1 Million an hour, in general, Oh my did I say Farm? So at this increased level of earning versus doing threads, TFS, and zone hunting, it would take 60 hours to save the 60M influence. Frankly I take the 10 hours over the 60 hours hands down.

    Hugs

    Your TOTALY wrong!!!

I have never farmed for INF or Drops but I do PL myself especialy to get travel powers.

I play an average of 2 hours a night after work and 6 to 10 hours on the weekend if my SG has TF's or SF's setup and since I13 has come out I have not gathered the merits to buy a Numina or Miracle! Hell trhe most I have on 1 toon is 198 and that was with a Quarterfield merit drop.

The real ppl this has hurt is the casual players! Sure I still get some nice drops (got 2 purples tonight) but I'm getting them just standing in PL missions as a bridge. Most of the time when I'm on we run missions and I'm rarely the team leader so my missions are generaly ignored. The only merits I have gotten on some of my toons was from clearing out old missions alone.

When it comes down to it I used to rely on occasional good drops from TF's and the market to build any real sets. Now I just don't care as I would have to grind solo or TF's just to get what I want! This is not a fun concept, Our group dose TF's that we enjoy not so we can get merits and honestly I think so many of us were dissapointed by this change that we have lost intreset in the game. I let 2 of my accounts for my kids laps as they lost intrest as well. Even the winter event did not spark much of us as we only ran the baby new year mission a few times and mainly for badges.

They honestly need to stop worming about the power players and focus on the average players like us that are really loosing interest in this game and the only thing keeping our accounts active is the occasional SG fun that we have and the fact that we worked so hard for our builds and 50's that its hard to let them go.

    Objective:

Farmers just farm merits now, and casual players have to grind.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Apparently, a lot of people don't know the meaning of the word 'objective'. Not only is this ENTIRELY subjective, it is simplistic exaggeration.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fine, I object and reassert that where I once had fun running TF's now they just feel like a grind on the same character all the time trying to get the merits I need to buy the big shiny that I no longer have a chance of getting in a drop.

I must add that I have spent more time grinding for CANDY CANES just to buy the winter sets than I have playing and I think that's just sad.
  7. Just had a thought, How about if I run say an ITF @9pm then the next day run a Synapse or Numina, ect.. and then later that night I run the ITF again @9pm (all of this with the same toon as I want my merits to buy the big stuff so I have officially abandoned all my other toons). Why should I be penalized in merits for the ITF just because I happened to do it again? I mean WTH I did a Posi in between the 2 ITF's, So now I'm spanked for wanting to gain merits to buy what I want!

I think that if I'm on a toon and do a TF then do another equally challenging or harder TF that the Timer should be reduced to half. This would keep you from abusing the same TF over and over (although I should be able to play the content I want as I do pay to play!) but would still give you the ability to do the TF's you enjoy more often.
  8. I have to say that even our group that used to be really active has totally fallen apart. We used to run TF's almost every weekend and now we just can't seem to get it together. I have spent the better part of the last 2 days just trying to get the candy canes I need to buy a few sets of the Universal travel set from winter as it seems this will be th only opportunity to get it.

Yes I'm logging in my toons and getting winter badges but thats about it. My wife and I used to spend about 20 hours a week on and now we are on less that 5 hours and when we are on we spend it all solo as we are just trying to finish arcs and get the merits. This is really sad . Please give us our fun back!
  9. Has anyone pointed out that this kills all reason to team except for TF's! When I'm doing story arcs its easier to do them alone, less guys = less time spent to get to the merit at the end of the arc.

I think its really funny that not long ago we were told that you would not fix content like the sewer trial as it was old end of game content and TF's were never meant to be the main content of the game. Well now here we are and TF's are the only content that really gives merits which we need to get the shiny stuff we so crave.

So not only dose this new setup promote one type of team playing (tf") but it also promotes solo play for story arcs and forces people to play on the same toon all the time as to get the bigger shiny stuff you need more merits and they are not transferable.

This setup needs some serious thought and I have to also agree that a good part of the fun many of our sg used to have was just doing a quick katie after a longer tf, now none of us seem to even care we just solo until we have the 6 hours to put in for the 90 merit TF.

Hell my wife and I used to play together all the time, now we are continually running solo just to get merits!

I say give us back the option for the random recipe but still allow us to take merits if we prefer. This will bring the fun back into teaming.

I just wanna log in, enjoy the Kheldian love and get all my alts to work at their day jobs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well try as I might but I just did not feel the love as my PB ate the floor more tonight than ever before. The reason is mainly due to not being able to switch forms freely!! Let me speak my mind and say this SUCKS! In the middle of a fight if you try and drop out of a form to human you cannot do so while an attack power is cycling! Its even worse when you die simply because you left SS on when you ran into the group and you literally have to stop everything to be able to click SS off!

Not once but twice I ate the floor simply because I stopped everything either to turn off SS or turn it on to get away! This BUG sucks! Give me my fun back!

Guess I will just have to respec my PB to be just a human (not sure why I would need any other form since I cannot transition from one to the other without totally pissing me off!)

Did I mention how much this BUG sucks! Yes its got to be a BUG, I mean who in their right mind would take a perfectly great game and rune it this way!

Heres the kicker, my kids complained more than I just did about not being able to turn off sprint in the middle of a fight!

My 12 year old son had this to say tonight about the game he has always loved!

"WTH, why when I click on a power dose it not just queue it up to turn off or on after my current power is done with its cycle? I can code better than this give me a fricking job"

I will not repeat what my 13YR old said but she was rather upset at how she could not turn off SS when we got ambushed and all she was trying to do was save end to heal her mother!

    What a disappointing day!
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Yes, you gave miniscule rewards on story arcs (only the owner), while making some of the main supply sources in the game worth less than a random roll.

People are saying that it's a reduction in rewards, because it is. Return the random roll as a choice to all TFs and watch people magically stop saying that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree on this part. I do not like the fact that you are taking away my choices for a reward. If anything you should give me the option to take what I would rather have.

I run Katie's all the time with my SG (most of the time we have to log multiple account in to start as its not always easy to find players when we are on) and we very rarely get a drop we want (1 good drop every 6 to 10 runs) but its not like we run Katie's all day long. Most of the time we run a longer TF and if we still feel up to it we run a Katie after before calling it a day.

This wont stop us from running Katie as we do not do it for the drops (since they suck most of the time) we do it for the fun, but taking away the crappy recipes that we do get will mean that ppl like us who also play the market will no longer be putting these units up for sale and if no one has noticed lately the market is already drying up. I'm having a hard time finding common items on Justice that would normally be common place. So when you add duel builds and we all start hording our drops the market will just get worse.

Guess I'm just rambling now but let me say again that I would rather have the option to pick what I want then to have the option taken away. This will make many ppl happy!
