Statesman just made sense of all the arguing. It seems that people just don't want to fight 3 minions. The changes they are proposing are fine, all they need to do is call them lieutenants and everyone is happy? That's all they're doing is making minions scale as you level so they're not a trivial encounter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Minions should be trivial. They are the grunts, for crying out loud. I don't recall your average minion beinga threat to someone like Batman.

However, I can understand a Rikti minion.. they should be armed to the teeth! Technologically superior. Trained infantry!
  2. Actually, Krunch, I disagree. I have great respect for Statesman and Co. They do great work. But on this I do not agree.

I don't care if this is an MMORPG. That is not what drew me here. I came because it touched on something greater -- something I love alot, and that's comic books.

I was given the impression that I could become a comic hero. I won't feel like any hero I ever read about when I can only take on 3 minions +1 my level. That's a joke, mate!

I go from level 1-27/28 taking on groups of 3-5 at a time. Now after all that, I've built myself go strongly that I can take more, 10+ more. (Admittedly, it is insane when you see a Tanker or Scrapper tanking 50 mobs at once. And when a Blaster aoe's the crap out of 12-15 mobs at the same time.) But this should not effect my ability to tank (beat the living hell out of) 10-15 mobs at least.

Someone gave a fine example by using Batman. That's what I imagine me as a hero!

Statesman assumes that everyone imagines their character as Super Man or Captain America.

But I have news for ya, some of us are Batman or Spiderman!

He think's (Statesman) its not very heroic to see a level 2 standing next to a level 35 (assuming sidekicked) while a level 40ish is PLing the 2 up. But so what? Some heroes will go to any lengths to attain power to meet their own goals (whether it be vigilante, or vengeance). In this case, said level 2 is making use of said level 40 (assumably his friend) to become stronger through the fastest way possible.

    Ok, here goes.

A while back a patch was introduced (the purple patch) that made killing a mob +4 your level impossible. A month later, this patch was rolled back to make killing a mob +5 your level impossible.

It is this purple patch that places a hard cap on the difficulty of the mobs that a team can fight.

While the actual math shows a bonus to grouping, in practice it is a penalty. An 8 person team cannot fight harder mobs, or more mobs, then a 4 person team. They can't fight harder mobs because the purple patch won't let them damage +5 mobs enough and they can't fight more mobs because a 4 person team is already fighting the maximum number of mobs they can find. You will even see small teams with a tank herding many groups of mobs.

That is why adding to a team only subtracts from the xp each individual player earns, while not adding to the level or nu
mber of mobs the team can fight.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uhh, I've been in 5 man teams that could take down +5.
  4. Hephaestus-

I've soloe'd Bobcat, Nightstar, Shadowhunter, Terra (DE), Chimera, and well.. those are mostly Praetorian AV's. I wasn't able to solo Envoy or Clockwork King. =P Those are also cherry picked, easy AV's. Well, Shadowhunter has this one attack.. but I was able to avoid it luckily. I also died a few times trying on Terra and Shadowhunter.
  5. You should of made Super Strength a Scrapper Primary, as well.

"Way to miss the bus on that one." :P

For that matter, you should of never seperated the melee AT into two AT's. We don't need a meatshield. You could of saved 'meatshields' for the Epic AT thing. Hell, as it stands now, you dont need a Scrapper either. Defender, Controller, Blasters are all you need in a team.

Or maybe if you dont like a part of the game, simply petition for a change. I would think that if enough people want better maps, cryptic will put them in eventually. In the mean time simply learn your zones. it isnt that hard.

Modifying the client should be against the TOS, and should be wiped here on these boards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They don't want good maps .. excessive travel time is one of the main timesink devices used in this game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know this is off topic, but I want to laugh at this guy's reponse. Travel is the main timesink? That's a joke, right? I can get anywhere within seconds -- not minutes like DAoC, AO, or EQ. If you want a time sink, try leveling after 40. :P

As for this whole nonmodding issue.. I'm rather peeved. I honestly don't see where it says it's against the rules to modify your own client. Though, in the past, I've known this to eventually lead to cheating. I doubt it will stop anyone from modding, however.
  7. Character Name: Justin Cypher
    Server: Virtue
    Archetype: Mutation Scrapper, Claws/Invulnerability
    Inspiration: Didn't have one.

Brief Explanation or a link to my origin:
When Justin was six months old, he and his parents moved to Paragon City. Five years later, a bomb destroyed their home. Justin's parents were killed, but he survived, buried under rubble near his father's body. This traumatizing effect left Justin with the severe claustrophobia that still afflicts him today.

Homeless and orphaned, Justin, came under the tutelage of Tsoo leader Tub Ci. He became his prize pupil in martial arts and old artifacts.

It wasn't before long that Tub Ci began to realize Justin's latent mutant powers and its potential. And soon Tub Ci began experimenting with Justin's powers.

Within the first experiment, however, Tub Ci had made a big mistake. A small silver sliver had dug its way into Justin's brain gouging out some very fine nerve clusters. This resulted in sending Justin into a coma, which made Tub Ci think he had died.

Tub Ci dumped Justin's body into an alley for dead. But it was upon Tub Ci's departure that Justin woke. For all it was worth he could not recall anything up until the point he woke in that alley. And although he might not have particularly realized it, or more appropriately, perhaps he was not capable of coming to such a realization , this is what it came down to; he could feel no emotion: felt no sorrow, no fear or pity for his predicament.

To fit in with the society that he found himself within, he decided to join the ranks of heroes. Until the day comes that he may remember who he is. And for all intensive purposes, perhaps those emotion still lingered in the back of his mind?

    ---------------------------------

    Character Name: Griffith, Saint
    Server: Virtue
    Archetype: Science Scrapper, Dark Melee/Regeneration
Inspiration: Again, none. Capt. Valor had a small part in my concept.

    History:

Griffith was born among the Gypsy in the year of 1919. However, this is unimportant to his present day predicament. It was during the time of 1941-1944 in a war against the 5th Column, that his true story comes into play.

During one of his scoutings of a base that could possibly belong to Reqeium himself, Griffith was captured. He quickly found out that he was indeed within the base of Reqeium.

Reqeium, instead of just killing Griffith, decided to play with his body. Using archane ritual and science, dark energies were forced into Griffith's body. The dark energies coursed throughout his bloodviens causing his body to be wreaked with weakness and pain. It was during this ritual that an advanced squad of Freedom Phalanx crashed the joint (for a homing beacon had been placed upon Griffith, unnoticed by Reqeium) and rescued Griffith.

The scientist charged with the care of Griffith, injected his blood stream with preprogrammed regenerative nanobots that were directed at fighting the dark energies. They also had the unexpected side effect of healing old tissue and cells, which increased his life span beyond that of a normal human being. However, these same nanobots were unable to cure Griffith's paralasis within his legs.

A special armor was created to incase Griffith's legs to allow him to walk, and with Griffith's request, they also allowed him to jump great heights.

To this day, Griffith spends his time in religious study under an unknown sect. With any defeat he wrought he found himself praying for any criminal he defeat and sent to prison. The citizens noticing this began calling him the 'Saint'. Tho' he felt he was no 'Saint' and always denied such, the name stuck. He does believe that spirituality will help keep his "dark feelings" in check.

To any who come upon Griffith, it should be noted that one should take great care. Griffith is a sensative soul, however aloof and quiet he may seem. He always longs for his home among the Gypsy (who vanished into an alternate dimension).
