  1. I'm looking for alternate sources of entertainment. No, I'm not getting bored with this place (not at all), I'd just like to know the other sites people surf to see great fan art.

Is there a gallery or two that you've bookmarked?

Some forum you frequent that has all the good pics?

    Post 'em here!!

  2. Yeah, I have a feeling I left out a whole bunch o' people. It was late and I was wanting to write it before I went to bed.

As for MMOART then, my comments still stand - comic book quality on every piece, no exception. Her work is great!

Oh and... hehehe, I laughed my butt off on the "ink" comment Greymist.
  3. There is a growing number of artists on this board doing various forms of fan art for people. Looking through this forum each day I notice that the styles differ greatly. I did not go to school for art and would be embarassed to try to describe the different styles, but I think it'd be cool to hear what some people think of other's looks.

(forgive me, it's late here but I feel like posting before bed).

    Here's my thoughts so far...

Dark Jedi (I have to start with him) - very versatile in almost every medium. Strong eye for detail and an uncanny sense perspective and overall composition (ok, that sounded way too schoolish).

Davenport - great flow to his characters. Unique proportions MAKE his style.

MMOART - (not always clear who is working on what project - is it one person or a whole team?) Even being unclear of the process, I admire their ability to crank out comic book quality no matter the character. They can turn even the most *cough*average*cough* concept into something amazing.

Jim Tessier - Dramatic poses, great proportions, and... well, I know it's not his style, but I just wish he'd dable into coloring more often. I'd love to see a polished piece by Jim.

Celtic Bolt - can anyone say BLACK? He definately uses a lot of it in his style. I think it makes for dramatic poses and all, but, just once, I'd like to see an "off-black" background. Maybe Charcoal CB?

Sweet Thang - don't you know you're my everything?? Seriously, I'm lovin' the cartoon look man. Any chance we're going to see more variations?

Doom Supremacy - You know, at first I wasn't sure what to make of the Guild Helper team. I wasn't all that moved by their original gallery and it seemed like their selection was kind of limited. That's all changed though. The last few pieces have really rounded out their collection and have knocked me on my butt on more than one occasion.

Graver - man, if there is one person whose art just makes me shake my head, it's this guy. With some of the other ones I can kind of (kind of) see how they got to where they are (in the piece). With graver, it's still a mystery. He is the inigma.

The PMD - you know, I really wish I could see more of his stuff. The shot from his avatar was cool enough but IMO it does not go far enough into this man's talent. He has an amzing teaching ability in this area and I'd love to sit in his class one day.

So, I know I missed a lot of people... but I'm tired now and done writing. This of course is all meant in the best spirit. I'm just curious to see what other people think of the different styles on this board.

So, what styles do you see floating around here?

I think he's got point. Can we stop picking on this guy now?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I thought it was stopped. Everyone seemed to say their point.

The new shot looks pretty good man. I'm a sucker for that "superman curl" on his forehead.
  7. I have to agree with The_PMD. He always has great advice and I think he is giving it here.

If you don't want to take it, that's your biz of course. But I think he has hit the nail on the head with this one and it'd be good if you calmed down and took another look at the situation.

You've obviously got skills, no doubt man. But maybe not being upfront about things to begin with is what has everyone wondering.
  8. I also really like the big "original" written on it

    Great job man.
  9. oooh, I especially like those last two (seeing as how I have spent hours on them before, i's good to see them done in a different style).

P.S. How do you color them so well? I found the bare templates for this style, but no guidelines for clothes or hair or anything. Do you paint it all yourself?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I got the templates from : http://www.dcuanimated.com/gallery/main.php

I just draw the accessories on top of the template and keep referring back to the screenshot as I draw. It's a matter of making what's in the screenshot simplistic. For the colors, use the main color and a darker shade for the shadowing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now that is what I was looking for. Thanks for the link man.

    (GJ on all these btw)

    Pep art trade?

Ok the pile was not to supposed to be that suggestive, but yeah it is on second look.

My coh main, if you feel like doing it, no big rush.

    Celsia

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now I LIKE that. If anyone wants a character drawn, that is a godo start. Maybe adding on shot for effects and a slight bit'o'history to it might help too.
