  5. Is a more current set/subset of the original rules listed somewhere else?

Both rules of "match forfeit" and "posting match results within 24 hours" do fall under the same heading of "Standard Match Rules and Procedures" listed on the first post of the league here. For future events (especially with what has transpired with I NO ANN), would it be possible to list which rules can and will be considered DQ'able? It would be relevant to know (if there is a season two) for new captains to be fully aware of the severity of an accidental (or intentional) rule break.

    Thanks.
  6. I admit this thread may have gotten a bit out of hand. I made a choice a long time ago when I saw threads spiral to avoid posting on these forums. However, as time went by I was convinced that even though there is some ugliness, I pay for my accounts and have a right to participate here too. With that said, as soon as I started posting inevitably I got what felt like targeted too...

It does suck that old arguments creep back into new posts, but apparently that is just human nature. I can understand you're feeling of being targeted Juggertha by a Suich and FrozenDeath, however they have posted some very valid points that throughout this whole thread you have still not seemingly considered. Their fundemental argument is that you "copy" as opposed to "reference" other artworks. You seem to juxtapose copy for reference. Having a life model, photos or even silhouettes of clipart to look at for positioning or lighting is one thing, but literally stopping frames to draw/copy nearly identically (or to the best of your abilities) and turn around and say you "referenced" the image is simply inaccurate.

Yes, this is a "for fun" thread. But seriously, it is important to know (and this isn't meant to continue spreading ugliness) but when you use forums like this to sell your services for commissioned work, and you present yourself as an authority...then you better know the difference between copying and reference. In addition, be prepared to catch some aggro since you placed yourself outside of the "for fun" category when you chose to use these forums as a means of promoting/selling services.

Now technically speaking, your over-all composition was original from what I can tell for March and I have no problems with it even though you positioned copied images. You mentioned "screenshots" in your argument, which I assumed passively targeted me and others. Again, the POINT of this is that I am not claiming I "referenced" I know what I drew and what I copied/positioned and painted over to make an "original composition" and I am not trying to hide anything. In fact for my submission, that was the intended goal - I wanted it to have a game-art feel/look to it yet still have a painterly style with the end result being an original composition.

Hence, there in lies the fundemental issue at hand. Call it what it is and know the difference. Artist are typically sensitive to what is original and what is not and are pretty cool with whatever you do as long as you're honest with presenting it/classifying it and move on. But, if an artist continues to argue against what is typically common sense perceptions...there in lies the recipe for a pretty heated debate which this turned into. One side note, I can see the Rob Liefeld correlation but (I cringe saying this) Rob did copy a lot of poses, but he at least changed the character. For example he swopped from a GI JOE cover of Roadblock and replaced it with Cable. In his defense he at least used a different character and costume (sorta), but in the rabbit argument, it is literally the same image sans the umbrella which I figure you just didn't feel like drawing in.

Anyways, I have posted before I liked your work Juggertha and it has a professional/polished look in my eyes. So I hope that my 2 cents worth above doesn't fuel the fire so much as just add in the perspective of an outsider (who happens to be a professional).

One final thought, I do find commentary/critiques (even if perceived ugly) can be fairly constructive for us artist. It may be of value to start a "Critique Only" thread for when occasions such as this one arises, that way individuals who feel a thread got jacked may not feel that way and they can avoid threads where commentary may be ugly/heated. Just a thought...
  7. Way to work that donut Bayani...

Thanks to everyone that could make it and do Posi - it was a lot of fun!
  8. WOOT!

Thanks guys! Good luck to everyone on next months. I need to go shoppin soon for some supplies!
  9. WOOT...I got to play against dUmb! Was fun matches...even with the MM on the first round. Yeah...no lag even on that first one lastnight! (well, not for me anyways) That MM on tech lab set-up is rough!

    "Mind bullets baby...with mind bullets!"

  12. Happy Friday!...time to DOGGY BOUNCE!!!

  13. Here is my vote:

    1) U-Naught
    2) Pyro Nympho
    3) Happy Dan

This was another difficult one to judge. I didn't want to pull names of ones I liked again out of a cup this time. I tried to be unbiased, so I based my decisions on a 4 point system (like dA) and judged them on 1) how much CoX related, 2) how much Alice in Wonderland related, 3) over-all artistic execution. Right off the bat, this month seemed to be one where hardly no one voted for themselves at all, so in that same spirit (even though it caused me some heartburn) I simply didn't consider my entry in the selection (hence the unbiased statement). Anyways, after tallying up the points I got on the system I used - the above is what I ended up with.

Good job everyone. I don't have a specific honorable mention, but there was something interesting that I liked in all the submissions. Good luck on next months!

The point of my response to that was...even if lag-spiking was a goal, it's cool...it worked and that I didn't care...hence, no reason to only pull this one line out of context. A win is a win, lag-spike or not right? It's safe to say I am not making anything up by stating there was some serious lag during the MM matches and quite honestly, if I was in the position to capitalize on a tactic that can apparently work to my advantage...then why not use it at least one match to keep the opposing team off balance. Anyways, good game and I look forward to the d6 fight (assuming we can get our d6 fielded lols).

It was pretty close to that ya...at least from what I was seeing. The first map had most of I No Ann snapping around probably worse then the third match. As for implying MMs added to the lag. No implication at all lol, there seemed to be no lag at all on the second match (no MMs), but there was a minor map serve during it I think. So I have to say the MMs do give a pretty reasonable amount of lag surge especially with all the other stormy pets and gang war. Sure, was the lag probably balanced...possibly, but if you guys run MMs you may be used to it more then teams that don't. A win is a win, so who cares if you won by lag-spiking. I mean, sure it could be hard for you too inside the pet huddle, but it is alot more work to try and target going into that mess then sit back in BG mode, spawn pets, and heal without the need to really target the opponent directly - come on, that is the whole point of that set up. Good point though about all the extra observers on a non-league rematch night though too.

I think it's safe to say, the first and third game gave I No Ann the worst lagging so far in the official thus far.

As an observer of all three matches, it was crazy watching all the rubber banding the first and third matches caused. I thought maybe the outdoor match on the third one would have lightened the lag from the MMs a little, but nope...lols.

You guys should try an 8 man MM line up, it would be perma lock down.

Man, Ghost...I hate to see you go! You're a cool guy to PvP with and an awesome Emp - hope to see you around.
  21. Ya...the white rabbit heads were just another little reference to Alice with the whole "chasing the white rabbit" sequence in the book. I think they would have stuck out more if I got the glowing red eyes and the flames shooting out like I was hoping lols.

This was a fun piece to do, so I am glad it's been checked out enough to catch some of the smaller details. The Mad Hatter was definitely one of the more fun details though and it's cool that some positive comments have been made about that element!

Sorry Wassy, but now I am a bit confused. What I got from the above is that more refined art materials may lend themselves to a more refined image. I originally thought the "point" was something akin to us shooting for simple/bad kindergarten art with using the listed materials. However, it is possible as the sidewalk chalk art example shows - you can achieve a very high quality (non-kindergarten art /image) using chalk. Don't get me wrong, I REALLY want to use chalk over finger paint or noodles lol, but I am afraid if I submit an image too refined it would not be accepted. Therefore, are we safe if the end product doesn't appear as if it was done by a kindergarten kid? Or, should we intentionally go for child-like imagery? If the point is really this child-like imagery, then are items like play-do, legos, or clay allowed? 'Cuz if legos are allowed...I am so making a lego battle scene!

    Thanks!
  24. Oi...not sure my scanner is gonna like macaroni noodles.
  25. Definitely - CONGRATS David!

Can't wait to see all the new stuff, and if you can make it happen...update the 1st generation art of NPCs, cars and such. The game has gotten some really cool looking stuff lately as well as new stuff coming up it seems. I know it may sound picky, but getting NPC character models to seem like they fit more in style with the hero/villian models would be really nice! Another nice touch would be to see kids and animals in general to add a more realistic touch to the environments. Again, congrats and good luck!

Oh...and maybe a hit a Con' in the Midwest please! Near Kansas City, Des Moines or Omaha
