  1. The Spring Fling content is more likely.

I22 still needs some more time in the oven.

Foreshadow is older than Statesman, sort of. He's continually reincarnated, but it's implied in the comic he remembers everything from past lives.

He's also already the leader of W.I.S.D.O.M.

Hope they get a bit more of a showing at some point, along with the members who've not been depicted in game yet.

86' in the Freedom Phalanx novel, and they all had to be at least in their mid twenties at that point, except for Statesman and Sister Psyche, obviously.

But...in a recent vi-doc or interview, I forget which, Positron said they had been formed in "the late 80's".

    I don't know anyone who'd call '86 anything other than 'mid 80's'.
So, that could mean they're sliding the timeline up a bit so they're not as old, or he could have just made a mistake.

  4. We already have the Vindicators, who were supposed to be the next generation of premier heroes. But, they're not exactly young anymore. They're all ~30. They're kind of in that murky area like the Titans were before the reboot: they're definitely seasoned enough to join the Justice League(Phalanx in this case) but they're just not as important and their legacy/mentor characters are still there to crowd them out.

IMO, Ms. Liberty should be promoted to the Phalanx and the devs should play the Vindicators up more like the Outsiders; have them start skewing more towards Vigilante and distance them from the Phalanx. Maybe bring them into conflict with the Phalanx(aside from childish squabbles in the past) sometimes.

That would free up space for a new generation team to form/be created.

But honestly, I would rather the devs let players create their own 'Young Phalanx' style groups and characters to occupy that space. They have been, for years, so why invalidate them by creating a canonical group? It's bad enough when the devs introduce a new character and take a name players had been using (and occasionally the GM team generic's them after the fact). Just ask Frostfire.

Take away either of those notes, and the design becomes pretty stodgy and standard issue--not young or girly enough for this character.

Bottom line, this is a battle-ready, functional design that 'means business,' but it also has character and tells us a little about the young woman who wears it.
I've stayed out of nitpicking. Her costume is fine and after playing some of the content she's involved in, I can see how if fits her personality. She's very green and a bit too confident for her own good. Of course she'd see no problem in not protecting her vitals better.

If I was you, on the next unique costume I design, I'd put a random and unexplained symbol/marking on it, just to watch people go nuts speculating on the significance.

    Hit the brakes. Full stop.

At no point in the leak so far do we actually see how Penny's psi powers manifest.

I propose, even if this means them putting the arc on hold to make it happen, that she creates a psionic energy construct in the shape of a Kronos-sized mecha that she 'pilots' from inside.

    Do it. Do it now.

  7. I remember hearing Astro City being cited as a CoH influence before.

I wish with CoV they had run with the original Praetoria and had it be a world like Wanted (had the book been out then).

At the very least, I was hoping for something more akin to The Boys for Going Rogue's Praetoria (but obviously not to the same obscene extremes). You know, compare the excesses of the Roman empire with Cole's own. You get shades of it, with Bobcat and Dominatrix, but they're the outliers. IMO, they were so obsessed with making everything in Praetoria "gray" they ended up up making it all beige instead.

    I agree.
I would rather visit Hero 1 in London after he's feeling better.

It's long past time we left (North)America and saw what heroes and villains are like in the rest of the world.

  9. I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away".

    Seriously...
Time to lock this thread down. It's served its purpose. We know who she is. I can't think of anything BUT spoilers to be discussed further.

O Fortune's cruel irony. The devs never pay attention to my threads, but this one gets a record amount of interaction and I'm calling for it to be shut down.

  11. The writer/villain inside of me says Penelope can't really be a good hero until she experiences some kind of personal tragedy.

Finding Mr. Yin's head on a stick?
    Hmm. Too extreme.

    Tragic motor scooter accident?
    Not extreme enough.

"Dear Penny. Your mom's alive and she's a psychotic in charge of a gang of colorful hookers!"
Mmmm. This one is juuuust right.

Wasn't there something in the SSA so far about an artifact Wade has that boosts powers, and does something bad if the person isn't in complete control of their powers?

Maybe's he's counting on Penny not being in control of hers.

    EDIT

Found it. Red side part 2 you find a list of the items Wade had the Rulu-Shin steal from the Midnighters.

Two are the skull of Tommy Arcanus, and the Dirge of Chaos, both have come into play so far.

The third is what I was remembering.

Really?! You can move the camera angle down and do all that from a STILL picture?
    True story.

A friend of mine has a business doing photography and photoshop work. Usually, cleaning up old photos, making prints, etc.

Early 2000's this woman in her 60's brings in an old black and white photograph of a woman holding a baby in her lap. The woman in the photo is looking down at the baby and wearing a wide brim sun hat so her face is completely obscured. She tells my friend that the baby is her, the woman in the photo is her mother who died not long after the photo was taken.

It goes without saying, she wanted him to "use his computer" to remove the hat, because she's never seen her mother's face and that was the only surviving photo with her in it.
It broke his heart having to explain there was no possible way he could help her.

I still believe the most likely candidate for the person in the funeral pic is Yin, but you made me think of something else.

When War Witch died, she told Apex there could be a "new" War Witch that would take up the mantle.

I got the impression she was 14-15 around the time of the Faultline arcs. Her dad's a little on the short side, and she is half-Chinese, so I expect she'd be a little small for her age.

Now, she looked the same around the time of the RWZ content, and some time has lapsed between that and "current" time if Hero 1 is any indication.

It's not uncommon for girls to sprout up and fill out over a single summer, especially in comics.
Jubilee comes to mind, for better or worse.

I have a feeling that she'll have a part to play in the rest of this particular arc, and maybe more.
Maybe not this SSA. Seems a little late to introduce her to the story except as a tease. But for the next? For sure.

There's a vacancy in the Vindicators for another psion, so why not. She has been training with Psyche, so it's fitting for her to be in that spot. Also, the stuff with the Clockwork King adds drama. "C'mon guys, he's not so crazy when you get to know him. OK he is, but...what was my point?"

I think that is her in the funeral pic.

In the trial, it appears they changed out her bikini and thigh boots in favor of something more modest, but the rest looks like her.

Now that you mention it...anyone got a pic of Yin from the MoM trial?

NOT one from after you free her(which looks the same as her pic as a Neutropolis contact.). A pic from the fight with her merged with Tillman with all the storm entities(Penelope Mayhem).

    I think that's her.

Yes. She must have gotten to know States and the Phalanx better post-mortem, because she really didn't have anything to do with them when she was alive.

  25. She's got a custom outfit, what looks to be a unique hair style (could be from the upcoming pocket D pack) and is standing apart from the Longbow and dev created 'demo' characters.

She's almost (but not really) back with the other Vindicators. If she's not Malaise's replacement, she should be. She's a lot easier on the eyes.
