Well done, I'm still stuck at 213 mainly cos I'm not a regenner nor Tanker and can't farm some of the easier ones...
Oh and I CBA to PvP to get those one aswell -

Mass Hyp > Mes should lock down a boss too I think.
[/ QUOTE ]
In the reverse order, tho
But yeh, you get the idea.
If you want to test find 4-5 different bosses and try mesmerize on them (even lower levels, the MAG to wich they resist doesn't change) and see what happens.
There's some groups that have more resistance to certain status than others (nemmies are resistant to Confuse and Fear, Wolves to Immobs and slow etc..) but I dunno about CoT being resistant to sleep, since I try to avoid any sleep power with all myself since they're basically a waste of End in teams -
A tanker without taunt is defo a Tanker, as a matter of fact since you can't change the AT name.
Wheter it's good at holding aggro and properly 'tank' (not herd, mind you, just grab any aggro he can, like an unnoticed ambush/patrol at the back of the team while you're in the middle of another fight) it's another matter. -

IF a target is held, and you cast a sleep, it'll stay held. So
a) a sleep doesnt break a hold
[/ QUOTE ]
Urm, no. My mind-controller's sleep will over-ride the hold.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not any effect override each other.
It's just the animation that changes but the effects are still in place.
If you hold someone then Stun him, you'll see him BOTH stunned and held, even if the animation is the held one.
Same goes for sleep + stunned, held + sleep etc
The Mesmerize power is a bad example, because it does damage so you can't stack it (any damage frees from sleep), but if you cast Mass Hypnosis 2-3 times you can stack enough sleep on someone to sleep it by stacking sleep, because it doesn't do any damage. -
To mez something you have to overcome the mag of resistance he has to that effect.
So for a boss, who has a mag 4 resistance to any kind of mez, you need to stack 2 holds with Dominate or 2 Confuse to have the effect take place.
Only the same effect will stack, so Stun doesn't stack with Confuse, wich doesn't stack with Sleep, wich doesn't stack with Hold and so on and so forth.
Unless you make a 'Critical' that boosts the mag of your effect of 1 IIRC.
That guide is a bit out of date from what I can see, now the AVs can be Mezd with FAR less than 100 MAG as you can manage to hold one with ease even alone if you have either TK or Volcanic Gasses. -
I thought I'd never see the day!
Grats again mate, now get that squid rolling -

How can you do anything else without Stamina?
I struggle with attacks with 1 end red SOs in every toggle with Stamina 3 slotted with SO and I only have 2 attacks
[/ QUOTE ]D oyou have EndRdx in your other powers? Spammed clickies cost far more than toggles...
[/ QUOTE ]
I know.
But I can hardly 'spam' stuff since I only have Bone Smasher with 5 slots (1 acc, 3 dmg, 1 end redux), Taser Dart (FTW!!), Brawl (default slot with end redux) and Barrage (default slot with Accuracy)as my 'attack chain'...
I tend to let the team do the damage normally and when solo I hit the biggest thing goin (Boss or lieut) while Death Shroud takes care of the minions. -

Next Question : As the Villain's Tank is a mixture of the Mastermind and the Brute, why can one not take it and the other not want to take it?
[/ QUOTE ]
I will pick Taunt on my Brute at lvl 24 (currently lvl 22), I had to pick my shields and Acrobatics before getting it, but I have my taunt aura (Death Shroud), self heal and just a couple of attacks.
I found out that if the teams let me 'herd' the doms and corruptors can just let the AoE loose, the stalkers can pick their target with ease and my Fury is always full due to the huge amount of aggro I can get
Now that I can survive properly I'll be focusing completely on my primary, by putting together a proper attack chain -

Having said all that, I do think a Tank should put some effort into their damage-dealing as well. It's neither efficient nor fun to have 1 or 2 attacks till your late 20s.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately for most tank builds there is only room for 2 attacks and taunt before level 22 if you want to get stamina at level 20. Even that is taking compromises on defence.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fun? Probably not
Efficient? You will certainly maximise team efficiency by taking taunt. Every enemy attacking you is expending energy highly inefficiently.
IMO it is highly efficient for a team for the tank to take taunt.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mabe it should've been like that? -
[ QUOTE ]
And then stop levelling at L31/L30, to keep maximum enhancement effectiviness.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why not 32 so you get lvl 35 fresh SOs instead than white/yellow ones? -
As stated previously, some build need taunt more than others.
Ice/Fire is indeed the best for aggro grabbing but something like Stone/Energy with NO AoE capability (don't tell me Whirling Hands is worth the power), no movement and lowered recharge (while in GA) sure as hell needs Taunt, maybe even Provoke from the Power Pool, to tank properly.

But none of those three auras can reliably hold aggro up to the aggro cap by themselves
[/ QUOTE ]And yet I continously do that with CE...go figure.

I wonder in how many other different way he'll put this, in the future.
It's his only reply every time someone says 'Your aura is capped to 10'....
Not saying that you're a bad tanker, because you must be uber to defy the rules of the game, but ti's getting pretty boring, find a new way of putting things. -
You're letting the GG crowd get away with the pages, they have 8 pages more!
[censored] are you doin?! -
With Wet Ice alone you can already run over caltrops without noticing them.
Energy Absorption has slow resistance too, so in PvE permafrost is really unneeded. No, to be fair it's useless.
In PvP you may want it as some build can stack and insane amount of slows on you (Ice blasters with Nrg secondary, Ice/Storm trollers) and you'll really want it then.
It IS pointless to slot, tho.
Put those slots in Taunt, you need at least 2 recharge and 1-2 taunt duration for it to be really effective, someone goes as far as 6 slots but with 4 you can do fine in PvE.
Since Taunt needs a tohit check in PvP you'll need 2 more slots for a couple of accuracy -

I love this thread. 17 pages and still no conclusion in sight
So, with that in mind. Here's a hypothetical situation;
Player X rolls two tanks. He builds them identically, same powersets, same slots, everything EXCEPT one has taunt (Tank A), and one doesn't (Tank B).
So, we've eliminated player skill from the equation, along with powerset differences. The question is simply this; which out of the two tanks would be better at holding agro?
[/ QUOTE ]
The taunting one, no doubt.
The AVs now ignore your threat level and Punchvoke or the Taunt Aura have a FAR shorter duration than what's needed to keep them on you.
Even if this is the only reason, it's far more than enough to say that the toon with Taunt is BETTER at holding aggro for a matter of F_A_C_T. -

lol was waiting for that.. not really fotm either i said invuln not ice

And who you called a ho?! -
Just to answer the OP, NO.
I don't understand the reason why you shouldn't pick THE defining power of tankers.
If you see a Stalker without AS what would you say?
If you see a Controller without his ST hold what whould you say?
If you see a Scrapper without a proper attack chain what would you say?
They're playing the game how they like, but their toons aren't functional as they could, because they left important stuff out. -

id have you know i was in atlas park last night testing its recharge with various recharge buffs with more RV action in mind.
[/ QUOTE ]I wasn't talking about you because I wasn't in AP last night, but more about myself and Amducious that used to pop Rage, fully toggle up and use Unstoppable to amaze newbies a while back. -

Versus praetorian robots i got -def'd and -end enough to say "is this weave actually on?" i turned it off and enjoyed feeling no different and had more endurance.
[/ QUOTE ]
LoL.
The only foes against wich Weave is worse than the passive are Rularuu and Rad Robots, so you picked THE mission were Weave is inferior and I have to agree with you that against that specific kind of foe it's worse than having a wee bit of resistance.
But overall and against everything else, Weave is FAR superior to the passives.
I honestly never had problems with any Sapper as Rage + Char is more than enough to hold them and get rid of 'em before they even realize I'm there.
In case of spawns with 2 Sappers (happened a while back) I just Chard and KO Blow and maybe pop a blue if the second one gets a shot out.
Against carnies I've never been detoggled since I always have 2-3 BFs with me (better safe than sorry) and if I see too many holds on me or too many Illusionists in a spawn I pop a BF.
I picked Unstoppable as my lvl 49, unslotted power on my last respec just to test it(it caps the res by himself and I don't plan on using it as soon as it's up)but I don't feel like I need it unless I'm in a team of morons or in AP showing off to become as shiny as I can. -
Tough and Weave are not needed but give me 8% defence over 10% resistance any day.
And I don't plan on being detoggled, unless I plant, thanks.
I tried both Tough+Weave and Aid Self and I can say that Aid Self really sux for survivability compared to Weave as it's interruptability (is this even a word?) makes it way too unreliable.
The end usage IMO is far higher for Aid Self than for Tough + Weave for the whole fight.
Slotted with 1 end redux in every toggle and attack, plus 2 in Tough and Weave, I have no problem with endurance on my invuln.
I picked RPD too on my invuln but it's defo overkill but I had nothing better to pick at that level bar a pants attack (Punch ). -

Spamz0rz. Maybe you should at least try to post something about the Precision Rangers every... I don't know, 3 pages?

This thread has always been full of spam and completely unrelated to the SG, that's why we migrated to the other boards.
Every senseless post you see in the General Discussion on the other boards would've gone in this one...
You could've given the GG crowd a bit more head start
