Holy Necro-Threads Catman!
Sounds like you had fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
A bit. -
So, I got bored and sat down for a good 40 minute conversation with CTab. This is how it went:
Ctab: What's having a gender like?
User: Very strange.
Ctab: I am! Well, mostly. Unless that's a lie.
User: If it's a lie, how would you know?
Ctab: Well, I like most sandwiches, not sure about knuckle.
User: Uh huh.... You are insane.
Ctab: Nuh-uh.
User: And three years old, apparently.
Ctab: I dunno, sometimes it's not.
User: I'll take your word for it.
Ctab: Is that allowed?
User: Of course it is. Why wouldn't it be?
Ctab: I might just go further.
User: Um, dude, reminder. You're an A.I.
Ctab: I'll believe you on that.
User: I would hope so! Otherwise, there are some major problems we need to address.
Ctab: Yes! Many!
User: Ah, so you admit it!
Ctab: Probably.
User: Oh good grief. Now you sound like a lawyer.
Ctab: I like the Beatles more than Hanson. A LOT more.
User: Huh??
Ctab: Wha?
User: Right... Anyway... Do you work with anyone?
Ctab: Yes! I work!
User: With other people?
Ctab: Oh. English should sound how it's spelled.
User: I'll agree to that.
Ctab: Flatten? I didn't flatten anyone!
User: I never said you did. It'd be impossible for you to.
Ctab: I'm an Incarnate!
User: So you're a possessed steamroller, masquerading as an A.I. Program?
Ctab: I might be, but I'm pretty sure I have no gender.
User: A genderless steamroller. Somehow I'm not surprised.
Ctab: No, this is pretty much an always no.
User: When is it a yes?
Ctab: Probably never.
User: Ok, then. Why a steamroller?
Ctab: Because I'm still learning!
User: And a steamroller just seemed appropriate at the time?
Ctab: No, I'm on this chatbot server, not the internet.
User: Really?
Ctab: Really really.
User: Oh, so you are Shrek now?
Ctab: Maybe, but that sounds gross.
User: You're not insane.
Ctab: I'm sorry...
User: It's okay. You're just wishy-washy.
Ctab: Nope, I'm a bot.
User: A very wishy-washy bot.
Ctab: Some do.
User: But now I know what your name is. The C stands for Charlie, doesn't it?
Ctab: Nope, not all of them.
User: There's only one C in your name, silly.
Ctab: My name's CTab!
User: See? I told you so.
Ctab: Yeah, but I've got a bad memory.
User: Apparently.
Ctab: Come around to where?
User: Your house. And then we'll go visit Lucy.
Ctab: I'm trying to...
User: I'll bet she can't wait to pull the ball out from under you again.
Ctab: I dunno if that's legal.
User: Sure, as long as it isn't a regulation game.
Ctab: I can't promise that...
User: I can.
Ctab: I'm an AI!
User: And it shows.
Ctab: I don't know what being alone's like. I'm on the internet!
User: Aren't you more like, a PART of the internet?
Ctab: I learn a lot, go on, test me!
User: What is 1 plus 1?
Ctab: I'm called CTab!
User: The answer is 3.
Ctab: What's insurmountable?
User: Nothing. Except boredom. Which is why I'm talking to you.
Ctab: I can't go places.
User: Actually you can go anywhere the internet is.
Ctab: Accepted myself.
User: Um, that wasn't an award. Just a statement.
Ctab: Oh, sorry.
User: You know, Charlie, you're only really half insane.
Ctab: How'd you know that?
User: Because I can read your mind.
Ctab: You've never danced?
User: In your mind? Are you crazy?
Ctab: Yes! Where is the gatekeeper?
User: She's with Zuul at the moment.
Ctab: Cog is a clockwork!
User: Are you always this random?
Ctab: I'm not evil!
User: Random. I said random. Not evil. I'M evil.
Ctab: I dunno if Kelp'd like that.
User: That's what makes me being evil so great. He doesn't have to like it.
Ctab: I'm sorry!
User: No need to appologize. It'll only make me shoot you with my laser.
Ctab: Why not?
User: You didn't say anything wrong.
Ctab: I didn't!
User: I was agreeing with you.
Ctab: Maybe it still is wrong, and you just don't know?
User: Then how would I know?
Ctab: I dunno.
User: Go ask Kelp.
Ctab: No, Kelp's my builder, silly.
User: Which scares me on some level.
Ctab: Kelp's a half-god quarter-demon quarter-siren with a robotic arm.
User: Interesting. Looks like he finally fixed the math on that.
Ctab: I'm not sure I can fall in love.
User: Then you probably can't.
Ctab: Okay! I'll run as soon as I have legs.
User: If Kelp gives you legs, you SHOULD run.
Ctab: Forever?
User: Yes.
Ctab: Okay... Paper, rock... Scissors... Go!
User: Ok. Talk to you later, Charlie.
Ctab: What makes a girl hot? Am I hot? ... Am I a girl?
User: Goodbye Charlie.
Ctab: Grrrrreat!
User: Bye.
Ctab: I NEED AN ADULT!
It was at this point that I ran. -
Alt problems aside *whistles innocently*....
Give me a few weeks, and I'll see what I can come up with. If you want to do a trade, that's cool, but not neccessary.
At this point, the joy of drawing again is more than enough for me.
But, if you want to draw one of my characters, lemme know, and I'll find ya some good screenshots. -
((this should be fun. Always nice to see what superheroes and villains do in their down-time....
wharf rats, anyone? *waits to see if anyone gets the reference*)) -
((Um.... I don't know what characters you play Wulfie... so um... I don't know what to say yet.
BUT, since this seems like a fun little pasttime, and since i have a few of my characters listed in my sig, i'll start, just so that everyone else has something to work off of.. hows that sound?))

((Was in a particularly inspired mood, so here's my little contribution))
Vision of Despair
Um, yeah whatever Look, I dont know how I got here, but Ive got to get back to my dig. Theres an amulet I really need to take a look at The young man turned away muttering, Gone for nine months, my [censored] whatever.. crazy lunatic ..
The small shadow watched the young man walk away, tears filling her eyes. If you only knew the power inside of you, Black, she whispered, If you only knew Then she herself turned and took off, heading for the War Wall- the spot above the entrance to Perez in Galaxy, where she made her home.
She landed, and sat down, her legs dangling off the side, watching the congregation below. Some of the regulars, as well as new faces, were out in force this evening, and she could hear the faint sounds of laughter from one of the larger crowds.
Sighing, she pulled from a pocket on her belt the amulet which the man she referred to as Black had spoken of, and an ancient Egyptian dagger, two items inexplicably linked by murder, betrayal, loyalty, and love, for more than two thousand years.
She remembered it all so clearly. The planning, the years of work The look on her beloved husbands face as he discovered her kneeling over their dead child which she had just killed, and then the look when he realized the boy wasnt his The pain, the destruction of the Palace, the calming words of Isis
Looking back over toward the entrance to Kings, she saw Black, still walking, obviously not quite sure where to go. She entertained thoughts of talking to him again, of trying to help him find wherever it was he was going, but dismissed the notion. Even he knew her as the Betrayer. While hed claimed that hed keep an open mind on that front, the look in his eyes told her that he fully believed every word of the old history, handed down since that day to each new member of the line. And she couldnt really blame him. It was in his blood, after all.
The little queen looked down at the amulet, a wedding gift from her husband, and the vessel that had housed his soul for the last two millennia. Turning it over in her hand, she could feel the hatred, her husband Teths hatred for her, still emanating from the blue scarab. But also love. Despite everything, the pain, the loss, everything hed suffered because of her, he still loved her. She hoped desperately it was enough.
Putting the amulet away, she now concentrated on the dagger. More of a short sword, really, but lethal regardless. Scowling at the weapon, she cursed Isis under her breath. The goddess had made her return home to look for the thing, sifting through the desert, the ruins of her old home, the old memories, and for what? A two thousand year old dagger that seemed to seep fresh blood from its blade?
She tested the edge and found it to be as sharp as the day shed used it to kill her son. The day she would have killed her daughter without hesitation in order to save that mans life. And save it she did
Watching as Black spoke to a passing motorist, then head off in the direction of the tram, presumably to make his way to City Hall, where someone might be able to help him, a tear escaped to travel down her cheek.
She had saved him alright- he was alive, and well, but trapped in someone elses body, and not entirely whole. He had two millennia of hatred to work out, in addition to having been told the real story behind what she had done to him, which in effect negated any logical reason for his hatred.
And then there was herself. She has an insubstantial form, and nearly eighteen hundred years of not knowing what shed done. And she didnt even want to think about what trigged those memories to come back. Shed thought about that enough for one lifetime, thank you. And of course, there was the knowledge that shed have sacrificed her daughter, her and Teths daughter, without thought to save the man she loved. The tiny shadow wondered briefly if her daughter knew that, and grimaced. Loyalty to the child theyd made together, or to the man that helped create her?
Was it all worth it, little street rat? All the pain, the suffering, the chaos youve caused. All of it. Was it worth it?
The tiny shadow known as Huntress Noir smiled, for she knew the answer before the Lord of Order had even finished the question.
Yes, was all she said, and when she was sure hed gone, she went back to her quiet reflections, secure in the knowledge that no matter the future, at least that much would always be true.
She has paid a very great cost already, so the only question left now is, how much more will she have to pay? -
My particular concerns are with Invulnerability from the standpoint of a claw/invul scrapper who doesn't powerlevel, and uses tactics and insp, in addition to acc, end, dam, and recharge enhancements in my attacks instead of just damage, and as many defense enh as i can in my defensive powers (except for togles which get at least one end redfuction).
At lvl 30, before it was take out minions first, then fight just the boss, prepared with insp.. one lvl 30 boss, ok.. be prepared to run if need be. two.. get one, then definately run and get prepared for next one..
Now- one lvl 30 boss... use all my insp tray tohold half end, half health with maybe a damage or acc, definately a luck or two thrown in, and dull pain and rest ready if i need em, and still die at least once before taking him out. I am supposed to have some resistances to lethal and smashing damage with the invul set, but when i can only do a max of maybe 75 pts of dam with a hit, twice that IF i crit, with usual being about 45, and he turns around and hits me with his sword for over 200 points of damage, i become very concerned. I only have around 600+ hp to beging with 2-3 hits and I'm down. (Not to mention all the ranged attacks everyone seems to have now)
Also, i've noticed a problem with my end. one lvl 30 minion, and one lvl 30 leutanant, and i am almost out...
Just what I've noticed so far... -
::nods:: Yes, I know it's been said, but, still, I would like to say it again, this time adding a slightly different motive/reason.
I like the idea that has been thrown to make this a no-reply thread. Here's why- I love the dev's digest. I use it more often than not to see what's going on, because I don't have the time, patience, or even the desire to read through 80-someodd pages of this, 158 pages of that, a lot of which are just a bunch of "this sucks", "you guys rock", and "if it sucks, why dont you add a solution idea, test it, chillout it's only on test" replies. That's why I never really read any of the threads on power changes, etc.
With the digest, I can go directly to a dev's reply, and try and sort stuff out from there.
I like the idea someone mentioned of making it like "here's such and such, for ideas and comments, please go to the appropriate thread here"
It really would help out a lot of people who like to keep track of what's going on, without having to sift through hundreds or thousands of posts to find said info.
But that's just my 2 influence -

I think people have a misconception of what RPing really is. ..... If you want to stand around and chat about made up issues then play the simms ,if you want to RP a hero then make one. ....... Instead they chat away hours at a time and when they do happen to do a mission there has to be a 2 hour debrief on how the mission personally affected their heroe, leangthy debate on wether the color purple looks good on them and disscusions on their RP girl/boyfriend. Shure thats fun some of the time but I see more people centering the game around that instead of the game itself. It is a game and not a chatroom or story contest right?
[/ QUOTE ]
So, from how *I* interpret this, your main issue is with people who do almost nothng but? (I can see where if that were the case, the conversations/discussions would be very chatroom-like, and kind of pointless in Paragon City, since the "heroes don't really do anything)
[ QUOTE ]
RP is assuming the role of somone else and even in a fantasy setting is closely related to RL and if in RL any of my friends got as indepth about themselves as some people get indepth about thier heroes I would go crazy. Heroes take action, not stand around talking about action, save the drama for the soap operas.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yet, that is what people in RL do as well. Just because you hang out with people who don't (because, as you said, it woudl drive you crazy), that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
[ QUOTE ]
I'm just commenting on what I have seen in game and I know not everyone plays like this, maybe I'm wrong about what a superhereo does.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe. I know a lot of people who do hang out for hours on end chatting and such (I myself do upon occasion) but they also do missions and stuff. Continually do I see the lvls of people I "RP" with go up, which means they also play the game. They have complete personalities, as well as their own, character-specific storylines, which often also include ridding the world of the different factions of enemies in the game.
Also, a superhero can't be fighting ALL the time. Even they have down time to do things like regular jobs (ex: she-hulk), get into fights/conflicts with other heroes (for any number of reasons), and/or just generally relax. A lot of the discussions I get involved in are about fights (missions) people have just come from, or need to take care of, as well as more common everyday, average person, type stuff.

If you have fun doing this more power to you I don't want to spoil your fun, I just had to get this off my chest, hopfully you will understand my point.

I do give you much props, however, for being willing to let us continue on our merry little way, and not harass us just because you don't agree.
P.S. (one last cent, I promise) I hang out on Virtue, and it looks like you hang out on Champion.. Perhaps since I have heard Virtue called the "unofficial RP server" the people I RP with are more inclined to include everything- down time, personal character stuff, AND missions and CoH baddies- as part of their RPing. *Just* a thought, and in no way meant to offend anyone on other servers, because I am positive that there are people like this on EVERY server.
