  1. Hi Devs,
now that you've implemented a system under which our enemies are protected from being hit while the 'rez' animation is playing, could you do the same for the players?

I had the fun experience of being killed .000001 seconds after I clicked my regen stalker's rez button the other day... Please give us a few seconds of invulnerability so that we at least have a fighting chance of escaping any hostile mobs, etc.

    Thanks,
    IM
  2. Hi Devs,
Hibernate (with taunt) is one of my primary tools to help teams against AVs. Ice is already pretty weak as a set, with more holes than most other tanker primaries-- why should we have our 'top' power suppressed as well? I understand that you felt 'phasing' powers were being abused by other primaries, but this is a major ability of the set.

Therefore, I would humbly request that you 'untag' tank hibernate as a phase power, thereby releasing it from the suppression requirements. This would leave other versions of the power untouched.

    Thanks,
    IM
  3. wait, does the defender version have enhancement set categories?
  4. Hi,
I'm curious, why does benumb have no permitted enhancement set category? I noticed this on my Ice/Cold corrupter. What's the deal?

    Thanks so much,
    IM
  5. Thanks guys, I really appreciate the advice!
  6. Hi All,
I've got an Ice/SS tank with both the damage and the slow aura. He's up to 55% global recharge now, and hasten puts him at 117%. My question for you guys is:
Where should I put the "Chance for moderate fire damage" Purple Armageddon proc I recently purchased?

It can go in Footstomp as well as the damage aura (Icicles). Footstomp is currently maxed out on its other attributes so the sixth slot is pure Gravy. Icicles has 6 slots, 3 of which are Eradication (including the Eradication proc).

What would be most efficient in terms of my overall DPS?

    Thanks so much, and cheers.

  7. Hi,
it's between the obliteration damage proc and the force feedback +100% recharge for 5 seconds proc. I have about 30% recharge in my Ice/SS build. I read on Paragon wiki that Force Feedback got neutered, and now is routinely suppressed to the point of being useless. Is this true? Which proc do you guys think I should get?

Thanks so much for your help.

  8. Ah, it's good to know that you're aware of it now. I was going to write something in the comments the other night but did not have a chance. I just thought you made an insanely difficult arc The only character I had who could beat the first two missions at +2 was a Stone tanker. He was too slow for the glowie hunt so I replayed everything at -1 with my soft-capped ice tank. Still gave me hell w/ the difficulty level, but at least I made it all the way through. It's a testament to the quality of your writing that I was motivated to do so in spite of a crippling bug
  9. Having watched my thread for several days now, I think I'll step back in and make some points:
    1. There's a lot of anti-farmer anger here. I really could care less about farming. I wasn't even here during I14 and I15. Farming has nothing to do with my post.
    2. If you look at what I wrote, I think it's fairly hard to claim that the system I propose in any way enables uber power leveling.
Let's do a little math, shall we? Someone on the first page claimed that 'people would just level up multiple toons' - they would use the 3 level per week gain in an exploitative way.

Assume that there are 3 desirable servers a user wants to play on. Further assume that he/she has 12 slots open on each server. If he/she is going to powerlevel through trivial content using the capped system, then it is going to take on the order of 17 weeks to do that (4 months). It takes me around 3 months to get a 50, using ordinary mission-ing. How is AE providing superior rewards?

Bear in mind also the extraordinary effort it would take to find farm teams on 3 separate servers at the right times (people would exhaust their 3 levels asynchronously), the annoyance factor of logging in 36 separate toons...and the fact that you still actually have to fight stuff in order to get your 3 levels. TFs, radio missions... there are many ways that I could level up faster than this.

Are we somehow enabling Korean 1-50 in 48 hours people? Uh, no, because they are advertising 48 hours... not 4 months.

Who is my system hurting exactly? Are you hurt, because someone spends 4 months leveling up a bunch of toons? Is the game hurt? I'd hazard that less than 1/10 of 1% of people would actually play the game in the way that I've described above. Those people were going to exploit any system they were given, anyway, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's safe to say we don't care about them...

    3. Kitsune appears to be one of the few people who actually read my post before launching into some fit of nerd rage. Like she said, gating leveling speed to whatever the Dev's intended benchmark is achieves the goal of making user-designed content a plausible alternative route for leveling. There is no need to introduce complex mechanics or weighting schemes - just let people design how they want to design.

    4. AE content is not just for 50s. If that's how you want to play AE, fine. But many of us would like to explore different missions and gain XP at similar rates as if we were doing 'vanilla' missions. Ultimately, this behavior is to the game's benefit, because we won't burn out from boredom.

Comments welcomed. Thanks to those who have kept flaming to a minimum. That's not what this thread is about - bein' constructive here.

    Happy Friday.

  10. Hi Devs,
you've created a great system with the AE, but custom critters have been nerfed beyond recognition. Really, they're way too hard for the rewards on offer.

Here's how to fix that without upsetting anyone:
    Short Version:
Allow players the option of full rewards on AE missions with custom critters, if they accept a cap on the percentage of xp they can earn off of AE missions (per week) equivalent to approximately 3 levels.

    Longer Version:
Codewise, the solution involves calculating what percentage of a given 'level' a player earned off of AE missions. If I got 25% of a level off of an AE mission, then I've used up 1/12 of my allotted maximum, for instance. Once you max out on levels gained, you get a popup informing you that custom critters are reduced to their (lower xp) versions. I think that this solution lets people try new arcs without feeling like they are wasting resources that would better be spent leveling, etc. At the same time, it does nothing to penalize those who are using the current system to its fullest.

    Comments appreciated.

    Issue 13: BUGS

    Server: Virtue
    Zone: All
    Character name: Cataclysm
    Time: Evening
    Location: Grandville, RV, SC
    Mission:
    Mission Contact:
    Bug Description:
One of my enhancements (a miracle +end) has 'disappeared' from the slot it was in (health). In PVE, the bonus no longer shows up at all. In PVP in SC, it does not show up. In PVP in RV, the bonus shows up, but no enhancement is visible... I looked at every single slot in my build, and this is a weird one. Felt like I was losing it when I first came across it. Needless to say, I'm not thrilled about being out 100 million inf or so.

Link to Forum Discussions: I don't know if anyone has encountered this one yet.
  12. Bonker - I was going to write a reasoned reply to this, but I have other things ta' do atm. I think your viewpoint is very clear - and wrongheaded. I also think that the idea that 'noobs' are the only ones trash-talking or whining is demonstrably false, as anyone who has spent 5 minutes in a zone could tell you. Cheers :P

Do you see "PWNZ" anywhere in my post? I don't even PvP ingame anymore because of how stupid it's gotten. That, and I kinda migrated to SSBB cuz people can't complain to me if I ever beat them.

Dude, I'm responding to the idea that you expressed w/ the 'srs business' thing: That just because you find yourself in a different medium, e.g., electronic game, that suddenly all normal social rules go out the window. I think that the way we talk and act even in virtual worlds is a reflection on us, and by extension... matters. I have a simple message: Be a good sport, complement those you defeat rather than trash talking them, and if Broadcast stuff gets out of hand, get a couple of your friends together and tell the person being trash talked (via tell) to ignore the trash talker, or make it clear in broadcast that the offender doesn't speak for you. Do you find anything objectionable or inappropriate about my message?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh I compliment and help people I beat, and I don't make fun of people unless they start it. I was saying it was "srs bzns" to take what people are saying to you so seriously. Typed. Over the internet. In a PvP zone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, before this thread was pruned, I had a pretty good explanation of what I meant: e.g., the specific situation is experienced players trash talking noobs and discouraging them from coming into the zone. I'm not really too phased by this -- but I pointed out that we're losing potential recruits because this is so common. I'm asking people to reduce trash talking, not eliminate it entirely. And specifically, I think people should leave the noobs alone as much as possible.

Edit: Thanks for clarifying what you meant. Hopefully this explains what I mean, as well.

WHAT'S THIS? [censored] TALKING IN A PVP ZONE? THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED

    [/ QUOTE ]
Just because something is common now, doesn't mean that it can't be changed. Smoking used to be pretty cool. Now... it's illegal to smoke in a lot of places. Geeks (people who played D&D) used to be marginalized -- now their game is the basis of all MMOs out there and they are celebrated in movies.
  15. unless you call up random people to talk on the telephone your compassion sucks balls because arguing over the phone with someone you know compared to broadcast chat in a video game on the internet is [censored] lulzy if it actually hurts your feelings

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you're missing the point. The point is not to prevent everyone's feelings from getting hurt; that will never happen. The point is to build a fairly positive atmosphere so that people feel more rewarded by PVP.

I still think anyone who whines about trash talk in PvP is retarded. It doesn't matter how thick or thin your skin is, it's over the [censored] internet.

    Srs bzns.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That, friend, is a platitude. In the 1920's a 1920's version of you would be saying "Don't take anything said over the telephone seriously!" Fortunately or not, in this modern world, news is transmitted over the Internet, people fall in love on the Internet... cyberwars are won and lost, governments clutch at power... posts rise and are deleted, and the powers of PWNZ blindly reassert their meme that everything is 'Srs bzns.'

My pwnz-style response for ya' here:
Oh, Hai. Pls think of frsh 'deas. k thx bye

While people say that we should have PvP mentors and all that Jazz...I don't think so. You're basically saying that people should have a "Big Brother/Sister" figure to guide them. How does that solve anything? Do they go running to big brother/sister when people trash talk them? To be berated and belittled and to persevere shows character. Those who get upset and vow to "Pack up my toon and go home" aren't anyone that can contribute to the PvP population cause they will always be forced to go running to Mommy when the bad man gets them.

What i'm suggesting is something to help new pvpers skill wise. As it was said, yes, players do go into pvp expecting some measure of success which they will not find. Trash talk is a result and drives these new players away. This pvp tutorial would teach newbies pvp skills so they could handle themselves, not provide a new place other than broadcast to go cry. Again though, its not really related to trash talk directly and a little irrelevant here.

I actually think you make a good point - and it's fine with me if you post your ideas along these lines here.

I'm quite surprised someone who contributes to the city scoop would post such an asinine and trollish response. Now nobody can be new, nobody can try to learn and augment PvP population if they don't already come with a pvp build and l33t sk1llz.

Not sure how you've come to that conclusion from what I typed. I won't bother myself with typing it all again in 3rd grade language, but instead challenge you to go back and read for comprehension. You can do it, I'm sure you can.

    Quote:

There has some truth to what he says about people complaining after you killed them, but it's a juvenile attitude and if you won, why bother? If you lose, your fault of course, but then again who doesn't ever die on a pvp zone or arena match?

When my lolWarshade got to 25 I took him to Bloody Bay. I got about 2 kills only hovering and shooting on Nova (what do you knows some people never look up). I got held by a Dom, used a breakfree and the dom was all 'ur popping insps noob'. I didnt care and when I got to hold her with Gravity Well, she popped a BF, I turned into Nova and killed her from distance as she t ried to escape, again a lot of trash talk about 'me popping reds' (and I didn't, not that there's anything wrong with that), I said nothing because this kind of whining is ignorable.

What the OP means is about new people trying to pvp and getting trashtalked by people who beat them.

Which I addressed and I think is really at the heart of the matter. I find that most often, its the new folks to the zone that start the trash-talking, post-ownage, when they bleat on about whomever just owned them last. The other side is the guy who has been getting owned all night and finally found someone they can beat and intends on letting the whole zone know about it.

These two types make up the vocal majority of the zone, but not the majority of pvp'ers.

I have little patience for either type, though I've been known to contribute to the noise every now and then for a chuckle or two.

    Quote:
That annoys anyone who dislikes rudeness (not to mention the guy who's dissing you just beat you). Yeah if you play sports there's a lot of trash talking involved and you can claim it's part of the game, but this 'i r r0xx0r and u lrn2play n00b' post is totally lame.

Again, there's some truth on Bonker's post about some people cursing just because they lost, but his attitude... sheesh. It's beyond words. I hope he's in his middle teens, then it'd be understandable at least.

Not sure what my age has to do with anything, but 13 for going on 25 years now, thnx.

  21. I have a thick skin (and the ability to dish and/or whine if I feel like it), but others don't necessarily share those traits. I've seen a lot of good potential hero and villain pvp'ers turned away because of the mindless stale trash talk that goes on in SC. It's irritating to me because a lot of times I recruit these people onto a team. They fail, because they are new and learning the ropes, and then they are incessantly mocked by the min/max'ers of the world. So, to the trash talkers, think before you hit that bind:
    1) PVP population increase makes life more interesting
    2) PVP population increase makes Devs pay more attention

Don't make me distribute ignore lists before I send a team into combat.
