"Metahumans, what is your profession?"
"AAAAROOO!" -
The Walking Shadow stepped out of the darkness in the north of the district.
"There we go" he said, as he looked at the 3 massive flood gates beneath the war wall. Sighing, he mutters "let's get this done then", and after cracking his knuckles, super speeds across the waters surface to the base of the middle gate.
As he drew near, he leapt up to the top of the gate. Putting his feet against the wall, and his hands in the gap between the wall and the gate, he pushed back hoping to force the gates open a smidge.
But they wouldn't budge. Ah well, he thought, didn't think it would be that easy.
Standing back up, he looked over the construction of the gates, and noticed the 3 large hinges on each.
"There we are, i've seen better contructed clockwork" he said to himself.
Jumping high into the air, he drew his fists above his head; wrapping them in a layer of dark energy. As he came down like a stone, he gave 3 large swings.
He landed in the water just before the hinges did, swimming forward to avoid them, but unsuccesfully - the last one hit him the back, knocking the wind out of him.
As he turned, stunned and injured, the gate began its inevitable creep forward, as it tipped away from the wall.
That would help with the water, he thought, before realising his position, inability to move, and the falling 2 tons of metal. -
Yep makes sense, and (in my mind) shouldn't be too hard to do.

Or the tommygun for a mobtype who can only be recognized by reading his info and appears in exactly 1 single spot on the server.</rant on>

Hey that one was great to get; was worth it for the gangster look. Althought the insane impracticality of it since a tommy gun also seems to fire grenades, a flamethrower and missiles. Missed that in the untouchables. :P -
Feel free to PM me, really into RP at the mo. Reworked my villain the other day so that he is Infinitraitor; just has a different name now, as that name was a little too - obvious. Enerfist is ready to rock, punch, and plot to take back the city that scorned him.
-
"One or two" came a deep voice from the shadows, white eyes glowing as he stepped forward from the opressive gloom, "as we have clearly seen, this is no mere storm; but I am at a loss as to its origin, or a solution. I don't deal with this mystical voodoo. You got any ideas? If so - try them. I'll try and find a way to lower the water level - at least it has stopped raining."
And then as he turned he faded back into the shadows and was gone. -
I just lol'ed in my office at the Dodgeball quote.
They are looking at me funny now. -
Well done mate,
Mine took 18 months (2 years on and off) and is still my only one. Closest next one is my 31 PB. -
Yeah i got the 24 thing, had the whole DUM DUM blinking time thing in my head as i read it.
Can't wait to see how it pans out and how people write their parts. -
I enjoyed the setup and look forward to reading this. Loved the snakes on a plane reference.

Nobody, that is except The Walking Shadow ((and yes the The is part of his name, not part of the title)); as he was roused by the water lapping against his head.
"What the?" he puzzled as he sat up, "how long was i out? it's dark already".
Looking at the rising water level and then the sky, he mutters "this is not good". -
The lightning was like a game, Shadow used it to strike fear into the hearts of his foes. Appearing momentarily as each flash struck, then disapearing again. The group of paragon protectors grouped together. Between the next two flashes, 3 of them had fallen. As Shadow lined up the final one, the sky cleared, causing Shadow to retreat to his namesake.
Then the booming thunder shook the ground, and lightning struck several places around the hero, ripping up the ground and throwing him from his feet. Colliding heavily with a wall, The Walking Shadow lay stunned, slumped on the floor as the rain poured in again, with added ferocity. -
I suppose i could get the pencils out. With an array of new toons, and some fresh inspiration. Hell i might even try to learn to draw faces.

The thunder masked the sound of each hit. The crey operatives fell one by one into the water, unconcious. The last remaining eliminator looked around franticly, not seeing anybody, friend or foe, and began to run. He rounded the corner too fast and tripped. Crawling he backed into an alley. He stood and backed up until his back bumped into the wall. Spooked he span and unleashed an energy blast into the wall - to no effect. He turned back to the entrance of the alley were stood the silhouette of a figure. Again another blast lit up the alley, and once the brightness dimmed - he was once again alone.
The eliminator stepped forward to examine the body in the darkness. But there wasn't one there, as from the darkness behind him stepped the purple clad figure of The Walking Shadow. As the eliminator straightened up, having found nothing, thunder struck again. It covered the sound of the sickening crack, and the thud as the limp eliminator slumped to the ground.
The white eyes of the 'hero' were the last thing he saw, as he stepped back into the darkness. -
"Ah miss Glenn, you were here quicker than expected" grated the metallic voice of Infinitron, "i need to see that videotape that you recorded"
"Oh, by all means of course - i didn't do anything wrong did I; well i know i did alot wrong by not running the hell away - but i just videoed what happened. Is the guy, the one who stopped the ship, is he ok?" blurted out Tracy to the imposing figure of the armour clad hero.
"I'm unaware as to his condition; and your video may answer some of the questions i have. Once i have seen it, you can carry on with your reporting. I imagine your bosses will be eager for this story" he commented.
Inside the building, she hooked the camera up to her PC screen, playing back those mere minutes that had seemed like hours. The camerawork was unsteady and not always focused, but showed the true terror of the situation. Infinitron had her playback the opening of the portal and the figure emerging several times. But no more than a blue blur was really that evident. The recording stopped and went into static just after the figure hit the ground.
"What?!?" Tracy exclaimed, "damn, what a time to cut out, the rest is great though."
"Did you see the heroes face?" asked Infinitron.
"Hmm? No, well not really. At the time i thought i recognised him, but now i cant even remember seeing him up that close. I was kept away by another cape." Tracy replied.
"Thankyou for your time ma'am" said Infinitron as he stood, and marched out of the building. Tracy turned back to her computer and began to type.
Meanwhile, in a restricted section of the hospital;
"He's awake now, you can come in and ask your questions Mr. Nash" informed the Doctor.
"Thankyou" said Nash, strolling into the room with Dr. Price at his side. In the bed sat the now recovered hero, with a faint blue aura around him.
"Good to see you better again Inf" greeted Nash.
"I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure i don't know you; and i'm even more sure you don't know me" he replied.
"So you're not Joseph Infinus then? You look exactly like him, and before you said that was your name. Maybe the merger has caused some amnes.."began Nash.
"No, it has not. You are mistaken sir; what i said was that my name was Infinus. Not Joseph Infinus, but Rufus Infinus. Please, close the door. I am aware of who you are, you are one of the names I would be able to contact on my arrival, if i was too late", as the door was closed, Rufus continued, "Mr. Nash, I am a descendant of the man you know. I am not from this time, but from 250 years from now - I was sent back to prevent the fate that we in the future faced. The Rikti took over, and we traced it back to this day as the pivotal moment in their victory. My mission was to prevent that occurence, and i was to sacrifice myself for this cause. But this kheldian merger was unexpected, and already i fear that my prolonged existence here has changed things more than I know. But now that the past has been changed, and i have no way back, then i feel it is my duty to continue to prevent the fate that i have seen is possible. If you will allow it" concluded Rufus.
"Well, that's a lot to take in; i've seen my fair share of weirdness, but this is right up there. I can put you through for a hero license yes. But we will need a more indepth interview with you, and keep you on a tight leash to begin with. We don't want any paradoxes here you know, we have enough troubles as it is. But we can't deny what you did today, good to know that Heroism doesn't die out" replied Nash, "Now we just need a name for you. Hmm, time travel, time, 4th dimension. How about the Next Dimension; i'm sure that's free from my recollection. Can't have you going round saying you are Rufus Infinus now can we."
"I suppose not, it will suffice" commented Rufus Infinus, the Next Dimension.
((Thankyou everyone for taking part and/or reading this. Been great fun, and defiently a more interesting way of introducing a character to the community. Thankyou again, and look out for more fun and games over the next few months)) -
Infinitron nodded, and took flight. He'd recognised Tracy Glenn, of Channel 9 news, from earlier. He'd wait for her there.
Meanwhile in the hospital;
The Hero was coming round, but was still disoriented.
"What is your name hero?" asked Richard
"...mrfphr..-n-f-nus" mumbled the man. He collected his strength to say "Infinus" before passing out.
"That confirms it then, we put him forward for an immediate Kheldian merger." -
"I've hurt my back, but i have pins and needles in my feet, so it ain't broken. These buildings are tough. Who was the guy that stopped the ship, that was pretty ballsy." Infinitron said as he pulled himself up to his feet.
"Ooh, this is gonna smart in the morning. Thanks for all the help ma'am. I better grab my rifle and... oh man" sighed Inf as he spotted the crushed remains of his rifle. -
"Where's the John Doe?" asked Richard as he returned with Antonio Nash.
"4th floor, room 415." replied the registrar.
"Thanks"
As they entered the room, they saw the hero - attached to an iron lung, kidney dialysis, and god knows how many other tubes. With 3 other doctors in the room aswell.
"Ah, Dr. Price, you are back with someone who can identify our patient here, yes hmm?" asked one of the doctors.
"Hopefully, Mr. Nash here works at the City Hall, and knows a large proportion of the hero community. Do you know him Antonio? His outfit is over there on the chair.",asked Richard.
Antonio stepped forward and looked at the patient;
"Good god, it's Joseph Infinus. I think, but i thought he had a large scar across his right eye. Must have had reconstructive surgery. What's his status?"
"He is deteriorating fast, what we are doing is only delaying the inevitable."
"This man, be it Infinitron or not, has done this city a great service at his own expense. He deserves all the resources we have available. And if he isn't Infinitron, then we need some answers from him.
Doctor, we will need him concious for the merger..." -
((double posted))
((and edited to include this))
Meanwhile, back in Steel Canyon, the last few remaining Rikti were being cleared up, and the war walls had been restored.
Tracy finally turned off the camera; she needed to find out where the hero had been teleported, it had all happened so fast. She needed to check on Steve aswell.
But first... to a phone, and to the news studio. -
They reappeared in the waiting room of the Atlas Park hospital.
The doctor, Richard Price, although very shaken and disorientated from the unexpected and previously unexperienced teleportation; manage to pull himself together enough to call out for a nurse, grab a nearby trolley bed, and help the wizard put the body onto it.
Another doctor and a couple of nurses ran up to the trio.
"What happened?" the doctor asked.
"The guy hit a rikti ship like a missile, and was thrown down 800 feet from the explosion. It's a wonder anything is left of him. I don't know why he doesn't have an emergency teleporter; but it looks like he has severe internal ruptures and i think his lungs have collapsed. Get him into the OR now. I will get a city official down here to identify him; i recognise him but can't place the name." Richard rattled out. Turning to Underthrow "thankyou for all your help. There is no more you can do here, could you possiby return to Steel Canyon and see if anyone else needs help? I'm going over to City Hall".
The other medical staff rushed the fallen hero into the depths of the hospital, to try and keep him alive. -
"Is he ok?" shouted Tracy, trying to get their attention again.
"Get him to a hospital, and take that doctor with you incase" said the purple clad hero, The Walking Shadow, quite authoritively. -
((realised this would help, just finished it: The caped saviour ))
-
"Who is he? Looks familiar, can't place it though?" asked the doctor at the side of the fallen hero, "The injuries look bad, we need his identity and next of kin. It doesn't look good" he said, looking up at the wizard infront of him.
((someone with psychic protection may notice he bares a striking resemblance to Joseph Infinus (Infinitron), who was last seen at the potential crash site. I.e. others may be there having brought people hurt from the raid - not just Underthrow))
