Agreed. You can drop an e-mail to Hyperstrike@Hyperstrike or just @Hyperstrike.
Toss me on your friends list if you want too. -

Quote:I actually pulled CO through Steam. It's pretty much brain-dead. Fill my Steam Wallet with the cash I want to spend. Then buy the things in CO with funds from my Steam Wallet. Fairly straightforward. When I went to buy Zen over there I discovered I was going to have to jump through more PWE security hoops to enable the ability to purchase the currency, and I was so weary from jumping through hoops to reenable my account and such that I decided I didn't need to give them more money that badly.

Quote:Yeah. If you click to activate one of the missions, you get a blue waypoint arrow floating above your head, pointing to your mission area. This can sometimes be corn-fusing as some of the mission "doors" are actually INSIDE buildings. The map takes a while to get used to. Having been used to BIG GLOWING WAYPOINT, it took a lot of squinting to find the small (1) (2) (3) on the map, but I got used to it.
Quote:Lots of currencies...I thought City had gotten bad for this but boy, Police currency, local currency, global currency, sheesh!
Quote:Not a lot of grouping so far but I've joined some Alert teams and those have been really fun!
Quote:Clipping when flying, haven't figured out how to look "frontal" (Page/Up, Page/Down weren't doing it).
Quote:Too many puns. Far, far too many puns. I like puns too but...yikes.
Quote:Level speed seems slower than CoH, where I would be 20 in no time while here I'm 15 after a few hours of play.
Quote:Overall I am quite enjoing Champions Online. It's much better than CoH in some respects (you "unlock" contacts by passing nearby, citizens offer you short missions, Alerts offer constant teaming) and a little unpolished in others (no skipping Tutorial looks like...) but so far having a great time. Already subbed for an additional month, no plans in stopping anytime soon.
Just hoping like hell that PW isn't in the middle of abandoning the game. It has potential. But they need a real dev crew to work on it. What they have right now is barely enough to keep the game in maintenance mode. -
While not on Victory, I did use the time to get a couple of my near-50 Tanker Tuesday tanks to 50. I took advantage of my stockpile of server transfers to do so.
Offended Young Girl: WP/Stone
Barbi Que: Fire/Fire/Pyre
Barbi also got a 400M Inf rebuild with Enhancement Boosters and is now a godawful engine of firey destruction. -
Quote:On October 20th at 8:42 pm eastern our son was born! He weighed in at 7 pounds and was 20 inches long. We are so very blessed. Thank you to all who were caring and supportive throughout the pregnancy. Best community ever!
-the MPs
I'm not sure Lil'MP was what they had in mind for Extra Life's 24 hours of gaming (though I'm sure if felt like it).
But hey, the tyke started off with a good solid Double XP weekend under his belt.
Congrats to the Family MP. -

Sorry boss. Sunday afternoons/evenings are almost a complete no-go for me.
I basically work almost solid through Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. So I get home around 4PM and fall into a coma.
Sorry the attempt didn't go off tonight.
Hopefully we can pull one together in a week or so here. -
Quote:"15 minutes?" Doubtful. The most common estimate I've read on these boards and CO's is an hour.
Well, with CO you can pick up multiple missions from CO, and some of them overlap.
Like Kodiak. You have one to be up X number of Purples and another one to rescue shopkeepers (who're being attacked by Purples).
So for the various hunt-style missions it's it's easy to multitask. -
Almost $8500 at this point guys.
Damn fine job, all of you! -
Quote:I'll give them some time. With a lifetime sub, I've got all the time in the world. And that is the thing to remember. COH took time to evolve and become the great game that it is today. Champions now is better than it was when I first played it-- it may get better still. And the same goes for DC Online.
I'm just a bit worried.
CO is kinda in the same position CoH was back at the beginning of 2008. They'd just been bought by an overseas concern, their development crew has been DRASTICALLY pared back. And one of their sister projects (STO) apparently is getting a lot more "love" right now.
On top of that, CO while extensive, simply doesn't have the breadth and depth CoH had.
Also, the Cryptic devs quite simply AREN'T as engaged with the community as the Paragon devs were.
Granted, if they get another 3-4 years, great, fine, wonderful. But the situation is so familiar I'm just kinda edgy about it. -

Honestly. I'd LOVE for CoH to be bought and brought back by someone. I would.
But I don't see NCSoft selling. To ANYONE.
Why? ****** if I know! You'd have to ask NCSoft about it.
If they think that, by closing the game, they're somehow multiplying the value of the property, they've been drinking WAYYY too much soju.
If they lock it away in their vault, the value of the property essentially equals zero. They have no community. They have no developers. They have no writing. -
Waste of time?
No. Not even close.
Granted, you could have been working a second job at the Quick-E-Mart and making money, but you'd probably burn out and need psych help, costing you all of that extra dosh.
You were entertained. On $12-15 a month. For years. You weren't spending $1,000's of dollars on comic books or movies or tickets to various sports events.
You weren't sitting passively in front of a boob tube.
You were active and engaged.
I fail to see "waste" here in any way, shape or form. -
The other thing is, they essentially cut all the faces down to ONE face. And all you can do is run around the sliders with that.
-
Basically CoH is the best because (in no particular order):
- Approachable devs who actually listen to their player base
- It's been worked on the longest
- It just got LOTS of stuff right out of the gate.
- It wasn't having to try and avoid "look and feel" issues that later superhero MMOs did.
- Easily picked up mechanics.
- A relatively unobfuscated/abstracted UI. Yeah, some of the parts of the UI in CoH can be downright byzantine, but for the most part, it delivers what you need to know to play the game with a minimum of pointless flash. Look at the interfaces for the others. Lots of "Ooh! We're more artistic than CoH!" Well, yeah, and most of that art asset brings NOTHING but screen clutter to the game.
- The community. Not saying that CO doesn't have a decent community. But let's face it. CO is the Jan Brady of Superhero MMOs. It's always going to suffer in comparison to CoH and its community knows it and is sensitive about it (Marcia Marcia Marcia!).

Quote:Yeah. I have a moonbase (noshitiswear!) as my hideout. My favorite feature in this game is getting wet! No, not that, I mean you get soaked! This is so realistic! My apartment (Hideout):
Yes, I know all my characters are so skinny!
Also if you want the feel of CoH in combat this is my settings so I'm closer to home (City of Heroes.)
Also! The little shop in the Powerhouse? Off towards the back and to the right, they have fitting rooms with actual closeable doors that function as Tailors. ALSO, in that area is a green screen room!
Ever wanted to just chop the background out of a picture of your toon and put in something else without LOTS of cut-n-paste and cleanup? BINGO!
It's cool to see some of the nice new QOL stuff they've added. But, at the same time, some of the things they've done are so damn frustrating it makes me wanna shoot somebody... -
Quote:Yeah. There's a special warm spot in my heart that lights up when I hit aggro cap. Then it bursts into Rise of the Phoenix when I whomp down 2/3rds of them in about 3 seconds...Really? I feel like these days in CoX I feel more significant and powerful than any of the "npc" heroes. And in the mission text they make it seem like you are pretty much one of the strongest, if not THE strongest being on earth(the SSAs in particular really highlight this). My fully IOed and Incarnate-powered hero can solo damn near anything short of a GM, but thats purely because I cant out damage thier regen as a scrapper. I still feel like nothing will ever compare to leaping into a giant mob of villains, firing off vorpal judgement and watching 20-40 bodies hit the floor instantly.
Yeah, the bills to the hospital for all the burn treatments are a NIGHTMARE!
