  1. Thanks for taking a look Quartermain.

    After looking at what changes you made I came to the conclusion that having S/L/E/NE/F/C at or around 40% is better than just S/L/E/NE at 45%. So I tweaked your changes a bit. I didn't make 40% on F/C, but I did bring it up about 10%. Dropped FA from the build. If it's not gonna be slotted with end to use, it's too costly a power to be a mule IMO. That sounds weird as I type it, but that's the thought that came across. While I did use EC it wasn't a staple of my attack chain and found myself using it just because I had it. So I'm fine with it on the bench.

    I know in mids Enzymes have a defensive % but when I look at it in game, I don't see the defensive numbers. Does it actually benefit defense? When I googled it (Wikia), it was shown as a bug and indistinguishable from debuffs or buffs. Is this true? Should I even try for these pricey buggers or if it is a bug, is it scheduled to be fixed? And what about procs? They would definitely screw with my accuracy, but would they be worth it? Might have just answered that q but I ask anyways for clarity.

  2. Since I got such great advice from one of the more knowledgeable players on the server Quartermain, (if not the game) on my DP/NRG Blaster, I thought I'd try my luck again on my scrapper.

    It's an MA/DA used mostly for PvE and is probably my favorite char to play when I'm not alt-jerking. Had him for almost 5 yrs now and every few months or so I go back and tweak him to hell.

    To be fair. I have posted help Q's on other forums about endurance issues and got great advice. But now I want to soft cap defenses. Now, it's not nearly as bad endurance wise as it used to be especially since Cardiac has pumped some life into it but he still feels kinda squishy. I do know why. I tried to build him for melee def (only 33%ish) with the thought process that I'd be in close and nothing could hurt me after I pop a Luck and a couple of Sturdy's. Forgot that AoE crushes me. Ranged whittles me down. And Energy and Toxic. My god do they hurt. Sick of wasting Luck's and Sturdy's if I don't need to. I usually run at 1/5 or 6. Just depends on what I'm going up against.

    After a couple of Rare IO's and Nuc's sell, I will have around 2 bill. I also have 4 full sets of ToD's and a complete set Of Hect's. So I think I can afford most of this build from that. Also running all the 50 TF's and Tip missions so I'll have help there as well. In between I run arcs for merits.

    So I'm here. Hoping to get the forum eyes on this puppy. I still want the same things. Good endurance. Soft capped S/L which I have achieved. But was only able to get around 40% for E/NE. I'm sure that will be sufficient in most if not all cases but grrr. That last 4.4%. If it's possible, I would also like to get F/C up as well. It's around 24%. Decent recharge and accuracy is also a plus.

    Some things I'm aware of...The first 3 attacks could use more slots. Death Shroud as well. Focus Chi is under slotted. Dragon's Tail could use another slot. Hasten too. I only have CoF to be a mule. And Focused Accuracy I put in as a "maybe" power. It's costly. But It did bump up the accuracy on most powers to a good level. Without FA my endurance drain is pretty close to what I have now on my current build as is the endurance gain.

  3. Decided to use the 2.3 sets of GotA that I had stashed in my e-mail instead of the LotG sets for better end control. They also probably saved me at least a bill I think so I can pursue the last few pieces I need. Have everything in the build except for the KC set in Bone Smasher, the Miracle unique and the 2 7.5% LotG's that would go in CJ and Veng.

    Ran an RSF with the build and went pretty good. Died about 5,6 maybe 10 times but I knew that would happen. Was the 1st RSF I had ran in at least a year maybe more. Had I not been rusty and noob minded I would have brought at least 3 rows of the orange pills instead of the purple pills for the final battle. I was over soft capped with my bonuses/buffs+team buffs and more purps was a waste. Ahh well. Next time I will bring oranges.

    W/O the rest of the sets I'm sitting at 41.12 S/L def. 36.89% E def. Recovery is 3.17 end/sec and end consumption is 1.42 end/sec. Still kinda high but easily manageable. Have recovery serum which is cheap to buy and craft (got lucky with this one though, dropped during a mish yesterday) so I'm not hurting. Just got the Marshal accolade during the RSF as well.

    So all in all, I'm happy. Thanks much for all the help and advice that you guys have given me.
  4. Ok. Worked out to where all my toggles but tactics, now have an extra end red and I lowered the end drain and increased the recovery (got BiB this morning). Have .4% over the soft cap for s/l and got energy def up to 37%. Over capped on the 9% acc bonus but the other bonuses in that power are good so I'm not too concerned with it.

    This is close to being done I think since I've accomplished nearly everything that I wanted to. Still have a respectable amount of rchg so I'm fairly happy.

  7. Thanks for the feedback Quartermain.

    Implemented a few of your suggestions and over all it seems like it will be a better build. I decided to gut BU completely and spread the slots out to where I thought I needed them the most. Power Thrust got cut a bit too. The way I start off with mobs is hit BU, run into the mob group, hit HoB, Bullet Rain, then leap back out and hit w/e is left with Empty Clips then ST attacks, BR etc...I do use my EM powers if I decide to stay in melee range and for bosses but mostly the aoe's get the bulk of the use.

    The end consumption went up a few points but with Cardiac and now stamina slotted the way it is, it shouldn't (hopefully) be a problem. It isn't now with the build I have. In fact I have CP but since Cardiac, I have never used it. That build is a resist build with PFF, Temp Invul and FoN.

    I can't believe I forgot to slot the steadfast unique. I always slot it when planning defensive builds but overlooked it for some reason. Thanks!

    Do you see anywhere I can take a slot from to put it in Pistols to get that last bit of Def from Tstrike?

  8. Decided to just roll back my comp to yesterday. I had installed a bunch of updates for the comp this morning and that's when all the problems started. Everything seems to be running as before. Thanks for your help Rajani.
  9. Took about 30 min but it did crash again. I didn't get an error message however. But when I looked in the coh folder, I saw another checksum file. Deleting it doesn't seem to be working so what do I do now?
  10. Ok. I did that. It went through a checksumming routine. Then it downloaded the file manifest. Then fixed the piggs/player file i deleted. Logged on...noticed that the contact faces are still a black box. Game is still laggy but not as much. Might be because my comp is weak and I'm in Cap. If it crashes I'll return here. Thanks for the help. I just noticed that looking at a players info also shows there profile as a black box.
  11. Crash 1 - Had a fatal pigg error for the first time ever and a someone in game suggested I delete the Coh.checksum file which I did.

    The game has become extremely laggy and when I click on or get a new contact the contact face is a black box.

  12. Here's what I have planned atm. I just finished the BS Patron arc and want to get soft capped s/l - e/ne Defense if possible. But I also want decent to fairly high recharge. I have already taken the Cardiac tree line so with my current build (not shown), endurance usage is never a problem. But this build has the end hog Maneuvers power which only has the 7.5% lotg in it and may or may not be a problem.

    It's a concept build which limits a lot of choices unfortunately. His hero/villain name is Legend of America (real name unknown). He was a dock worker in PO before his family was murdered by Stefan Richter. He disappeared soon after discovering his family's murders and has operated behind the scenes so to speak. Rumors were that he was a working man. No one ever really knows that the criminals he catches is him, so they dubbed him the Legend of America. So he's some what natural in origin. This is the only reason I went red side. To get the Scorpion Shield since it doesn't have any elemental FX and is a defensive shield. Anyways. Here's the build. Thanks in advance for comments and help. Forgot to mention that I solo a lot and every now and then team. Mostly TF's. Real life tends to get in the way far to often to team consistently.

    Trying to get soft capped s/l with perma or near perma hasten+drain psyche, (AoE centered) and this is what I came up with. Not quite soft capped and not quite perma but close. Is there anything else I can do to up/decrease the numbers? This will be for PvE atm. He's currently lvl 41 and I'm thinking about doing the Vig to Vill tip missions.     I know about BH in DM. Just got excited at the possibilities and started naming interstellar events. I'm still giddy with the possibilities. And Gamma Rays...hrmm. Not sure what I'd do with that. I don't want this set to be borrowed if yah know what I mean.

    That's kinda what I was thinking with Event Horizon. Once you get caught in it, it pulls you to the center (doin dot all the way, but the baddie is also phased so no more dmg can be done to it at this point) and either a big boom, or you just di(e)sappear. I also had a thought with this that the caster must be out of LoS or he/she/it could get drug into the EH as well. LoS doesn't necessarily mean your out of danger though. EH's suck anything and everything into it so you'd have to be far enough back to prevent getting yanked in.

    -Edit- Just realized that receiving DoT (dmg in general) while phased is impossible? Or can you still receive DoT if it hits you before the phase happens? If you can't get damage while phased than I guess removing the phase would do. Or maybe there's a way to code the Event Horizon so that it's DoT is the ONLY dmg that is received through the phase until the target(s) reach the Black Hole and then the boom happens?

    I'm envisioning this as "You have control of (or hold within you) powers from the outer reaches of space." You could grab from Luminous Blast (PB), Radiation Blast, Radiation Emission and Gravity Control with this concept.
    I was thinking Controllers, Blasters, Def and Corrs. As far as the Meteor Shower, Diablo 2 had a toon that had that power I think. I was thinking of the power coming in at an angle or from many directions and not straight down on top of the baddies.
  19. Control em, make em explode as an aoe attack. Not a one shot kill all power, but definatly dmg all around and kb em.
  20. Just had this idea while I was emptying my brain on the Porcelain King.

    Imagine a power set with "Haley's Comet" (can only use it once every 75 yrs., or as a dmg aura), an Event Horizon (maybe as the tier 9?) the "Leonid Meteor Shower" raining down, or the ability to take control of a baddie (minion) and make em a Super Nova. Gamma Rays, Dark Matter, Black Holes etc...

    I'm no power set designer or number cruncher. This is just an idea that popped in (or out) of my head while I was reading "Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor". If this has already been suggested, I apologize for the impulse post.
