Yea. Oddly all you content whores would love it. The story is actually better and more FUN to play than the "content" in COX. All the powers and what not function, they may not be balanced but for content idiots like yourselves you don't care about optimizations, just about story. So you'll be fine, if a power gamer, optimizer, power leveler, farmer like myself can have a good time. You might too?

Lol. Don't rush over though, I mean we wouldn't want the last 53 people in COX to leave PlayNC totally empty. Of course you 53 people could all make one SG called "The last COX players" and could always go to the same instance together just so you don't feel to alienated in a new game.

If they want to learn how to farm after they've left the FIRST ZONE you enter in game fine.
    This makes me ecstatic.
So you'd rather it be like the villian side?

Cap is where you go for AE on villians, not Mercy.

New player logs in to villians, fresh from the tutorial, assuming they didn't skip it. Gets a mission. Starts running around. Thinks hey maybe this game is an MMO, lemme see if I can get a team..

    Hello anyone out there? Hello?

    Nothing.

AT least on the hero side a new player gets exposed to a zone with lots of people in it, doing ANYTHING. So they don't get the ghost town feel.

Sure they may get in a farm, and get leveled up and not know what an inspiration is. Here is where being a good player versus a crappy player comes in.

A crappy player will just leech on purpose, noticing they don't have to do anything at all. They'll get bored, quit the game. Fine. You don't like those players anyway, who cares.

A good MMO player will ask questions... Like why am I doing this farm? What are these tickets for? What are these inspirations? Wow, what class is that that is standing there like a beast tanking that? Thats the player that will quickly catch on, level up, figure out they can get to "end game" quickly and not have to mess around with the crap leveling. They may even be a great player someday. They wont however, go well neat game, but takes to long to level, I'm going back to XYZ MMO where i have a max level toon. Thanks!

Technically the first zone, is the tutorial. It should be forced on the first toon you make. Period.

I found that they were there, they are just not in a category. So rather than selecting say Mutant/Technology -> Resist Damage category, select Mutant/Technology and on the right where all of those are listed, scroll down till you see the bright blue for Endurance Mod or light purple for Damage resistance.

That has worked for me in the past.
    Hope it helps.

Actually maybe you should just go read comics if the story is all your interested in. Perhaps you should quit complaining about how everyone plays an MMO and play it the way you want. Then you and others like you might quit screwing up good MMO's for those who play for other reasons than "story".

I don't give two farts about COH's story anymore. It was mildly interesting the first two times I leveled to 50 before ED. I came back because I wanted to try different builds, IOs, and other villain/hero concepts. To me the stories are better done in a comic than in this game.

At this point I'm just being a whiney puss, because that is apparently how you get things done in COX, otherwise this AE "fix" would have never occurred.

AE came out, people flocked back to play it, PlayNC rejoiced as their pocket books got full. Positron had a cow because OMG people might level faster than he thought about in his little game world. A bunch of Role-Players whined because no one wanted to group with them anymore.... boo whoo. Guess what no one wanted to group with you before. So now you get your game back! gratz! Enjoy. I hope PlayNC takes a HUGE hit in subs over this and fires Positron. He can then experience life in a recession and have plenty of time to make up stories of how he used to be a big shot gave dev in a game with super heroes.

As opposed to before AE, where you dealt with... anybody want to team? Anybody out there? Is there anyone playing this game?

Ghost Town of Heroes and Villains is what you'll be playing shortly.
  5. Play your mission rather than test. You can edit a published mission.
  6. Your game content is not fun. Its either stupid hard or stupid easy. AE was a nice way to play a different game. One where I'm not dealing with the "content" but having fun, paying you your sub, and enjoying the aspect of the game I like, power gaming my toons with friends who also like AE.

To those who are excited that AE will no longer be a hub, I hope you enjoy the game, maybe people will stay and go out and "play" with you now. But I doubt it. From what I saw, pre AE this game was dying, and AE brought people back.

    Thats my thoughts.
  7. All BS aside. I liked AE for power leveling and trying diff toons. I wouldn't play if I had to do normal content. This nerf has pretty much removed my desire to play. So... I'll give it a couple days and reconsider, but initially. I think PlayNC is going to lose customers over this.
  8. Some enhancement tips and selling tips.

My method of madness for selling and slotting is as follows:
Enhancements can be bought at level increments of 5.
An enhacement is optimal when its 3 levels above your current level. Its useable till its red or 3 levels below your level.
Training enhancements make very little different in your overall damage: (example)
At low levels 1-6, sell every enhancement you get to a freedom force trainer.
At level 7 go to the trainer and buy lvl 10 of everything you think you need.
8-11 sell everything, at 12 go buy 15s or 13 you can go buy 15s and + the 10s.

Follow this all the way up and you always have enhancements in your slots that are effective. At 22 you will want to have enough saved to buy all Single Origin enhancements.

Remember especially when you start getting DO and SO drops to sell them to the proper store, its a very nice price jump.

There used to be a nice site that explained % of each enhancement type and the forumula's but its not up anymore... from memory it was something like this:
Training is 8%, DO is 16%, SO is 33%
    One + on a Training is 1%, DO 2%, SO 3%.
Ideally you would want your enhancements to be green to you.

The forumulas showed that enhancers that increase something are more effective vs ones that reduce something. Like... a damage increase of 8%, you actually got 8%. Where a recharge time 33% you may actually only get 15%.

In general I only + my powers that I use every fight and then only when I find the exact level that will work.

Some other things I wish I'd known:
    Missions are terrible exp.
Debt is not a big deal, unless you only do missions.
Sidekicking penalizes the mentor and the sidekick in exp.
You can't change your super group colors or symbol.
A tanker is a better controller than a controller.
teleport is the worst travel power... ever.
Superspeed + Hurdle is very cool.
Staminia, if you don't think you'll need it your probably wrong.
There really are powers that are not worth taking...ever.
No matter what anyone tells you, you can make a gimp character, choose wisely.
The tutorial is still boring, even the 20th time through it.
