Black screen is most likely caused by an outdated Video Card driver.
Post your CoHelper and HiJack this to see what your system all has.

Quote:Yep! Was on my scrap this morning, tabbing back forth between iTunes and Firefox. Are you using the same resolution as your desktop? Having the game set at a different resolution on Fullscreen, then trying to switch back and forth may have odd results.
What if you just hit the Windows key? Do you end up seeing the taskbar and start menu pop up and the game still running behind it?
Logged in my troller, froze up screen.
My desktop is set at 1680x1050
Hawk -
This is hard to explain, so I'll try my best.
Lets say for example I have CoX running and I want to start up iTunes or whatever, open a firefox window, etc..
So I hit the windows key, I do run in full screen mode, and I open whatever program I want to.
After all is said and done, I alt+tab back to CoX. This is were things go bad.
I don't get the game back right away. Its froze up on whatever I last left it. If I try to move, it won't move, but if I alt+tab again, my toon has moved but without me seeing it.
Tricky thing is, this only happens on a few of my toons. My one blaster, I can alt+tab back and forth all day and have no issues.
So, suggestions, idea(s), thoughts?
I really won't want to play in windowd mode, whats the point of having a 24in monitor and not enjoy the full screenness.
CoH Helper and HiJack this below!
Thanks again as always.
Hawkeyed

A few of us are tossing around the idea of a Meet and Greet being planned for around May 15th (Friday-Sunday).
For planning purposes, would anyone want to join?
We are only looking for possible's, for reasons of getting prices/hotels/etc...
Thanks!
Where: Ann Arbor, MI (actual city is Novi, MI-but for big city reasons, Ann Arbor is close)
Time: May 15th-Motor City Comic Con
Questions: @Xanthorin @targutmunky @Dark Angel Ace -
Quote:That is an error. Thanks for pointing that out Dark. Fixing it now.The intro to the blueside costume contest says the event begins at 9:30 PM, while the specifics give what I assume is the correct starting time of 8-8:15 PM.
The event does start at 8pm EST.

October 26th, 2009 8 PM Eastern
Heroside Halloween Costume Contest
Croatoa @ 8pm Eastern.
Hawkeyed and Xanthy
Gathering Details: Contestants are urged to gather at the University in Croatoa by 8pm EST. Contestants will receive information on where to line up for judging from a P.E.R.C. representative.
Costume Details: All contestants are given this task. Take your most signature character and dress them up for halloween. You may dress them up as any famous Villain character, concept, player, etc. ranging from movies, celebrities, video games, etc. and conjure up a most spooktacular "costume" resembling that concept. A prime example for instance would be for a person to take their toon and place a costume (like one they would get from a costume shop) on them of that entity (i.e. placing your toon into a Darth Vader costume). The costume should not look superior in all aspects as 1.) Costumes that come from Costume Shops lack quality and 2.) There's no way your toon would ever be able to look as superior as that entity.
Judging Details: A panel of P.E.R.C. representatives will be compiled to judge this event. Judges will be voting on creativity, costume idea, costume choices, and overall concept. Judges should be able to recognize the costume you are wearing but more importantly still see your own toon involved in that costume somehow. Example: An Incredible Hulk-sque costume with your Hero-ish type head (no green head) would suffice for requirements. Judges will disqualify people that just dress up head-to-toe in a hallowen costume and cannot distinquish where your signature toon concept is. We will be giving extra points in judging to those we have seen put a lot of time in icon into the concept and have put a lot of idea and work into their costume. The whole idea is to provide an overall enjoyable, enthusiastic, and creative costume for your actual toon just as if they were going to go to a Halloween Party or Trick-Or-Treat. Just as if you dressed up on Halloween people can tell 1.) You are who you are and 2.) Your definitely not really Frankenstein and 3.) That's a cheap-a$$ costume! Judges will also be looking for more original outfits i.e. the kid that doesn't come to the party dressed as Spider-Man.
Hints: Judges may ask you for help in clarifying your concept while judging. It would also be wise to insert a little note at the TOP of your bio stating your player's name (perhaps global, noteworthy, or more popular handle) and what they are dressed up as.
Note: With I16 comes new ways to customize powers. The addition of powers to costumes is acceptable as long as they only effect your own character. Players using powers that effect other players will be asked to turn off that power. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

8:00 pm Eastern we start lining up Heroes
8:15 pm Eastern we start judging Heroes!

Yep, safe mode, the driver cleaner found atop, installed and the whole nine yards.
Never had a problem with a driver before til this one.

I hope Nvidia wins personally.
My media center computer has an AMD and ATI card in it. Updating that thing is a royal. Nvidia's site is nice and simple to use.
One another point, I've been using the 8600GT card for awhile now, and it still out shines the ATI card in the media center machine.
But I agree, Nvidia is building nicer and newer cards, but who can really pay 400+ bucks for a video card.
And why can't Intel play nice with everyone?
