Quote:I could debate all of this.... but really Work is picking up again, so I'll be on the forums les (I only get on the forums while bored at work.... fancy that, I only talk here when I can't play)Typical teacher to twist what someone says around so much that it can be viewed in a negative way. Something tells me the education system hasn't changed at all. . .
I did not rant about leaving and coming back. I simply stated a fact. I was not bitter and now looking at what I said I believe I was quite diplomatic and even positive. I said that this is a single step in the right direction. I do not believe that my desire for this company to continue to add content to the game as a requirement to keep my buisness is unreasonable.
To add to that you are dead wrong about my not being needed here. Maybe not so much as in myself but there are many others that feel the same way. My vent is full of people that are at the very least giving CO a look. Stating that unless CoX does something the switch could very likely be permanent. Im sure my group is not the only one. Also the closer I get to CO's launch date the more people I havent heard from in months log on to see if we are checking it out.
As far as the lifetime sub being an indication of failure. I couldnt help but lol at that. The only reason I decided to do that is the offer is only available before launch and after playing since alpha I am positve I will play for the 14 months it would require to cover the cost. It wasnt a plege of my undying loyalty to the game lol. In fact I do not see that a lifetime sub that is available only before release is worse than turning a game into a micro transaction item mall with respecs, costume and temporay powers lol.
Reading more into your post I believe you are actually the bitter unhappy individual that needs to move on. After all did you not say that you hate the 1 to 49 grind lol. I find the levels from 20 on quite enjoyable. Sometimes even more enjoyable than the high end stuff because I get tired of people who hate the 1 to 49 grind sending me tells to join their farms.
So back to positive stuff. I like the changes, I am looking forward to what else they will change. Going Rogue in particular interests me and I will be keeping my sub active.
Having said that they still have to compete and i do not doubt that they will. As I said it will be good for fans of both games, or those who might be fans of both after all I have played for over 50 months so I think I must be a fan.
A) I never said I was a teacher. I work for education. And Its a pretty typical High-school statement to assume all teachers twist words around. Just because I have a collegiate level vocabulary and an understanding of psychology/sociology, as well as common debate tactics, doesn't mean I am a teacher, nor any type of staff most of you would know about. My Job position (in the state I reside) is less than 3 years old.
B) Grind is a key word. TF's are fun. GM hunting is fun. Soloing is boring. MA farming is boring. Radio/Paper farming is boring. Door sitting is boring. I farm and PL during the week cause there isn't much better to do (Esp for a Vil on a less populated server). Weekends are a blast, but that's because of the lack of a "grind" feeling. Then again I have a small but very active SG/VG that always likes to change things up. For instance, this past weekend: 4 AE arcs, 24 radios, 3 TF's, 2 GM's, 3 full "content" arcs. 5 of us completed Midnighters. I while LP'd to my wife who was working most of the weekend, went from level 22 to 36. Wasn't fast leveling, but all of those changes kept it from feeling like a grind. Therefore was fun. On the other hand from last monday to thursday, only being able to play about 6 hours, I was on 3 AE "boss farms" as well as soloed about 6 paper mishes. Much more of a grind-fest.
C) Actually I'm happy. When I'm unhappy, I don't play. I move onto other games. I got a game I go to for PVP (RF Online), or I try some new ones. Last time I left the game MA had just been Implemented. I16/GR has me back. Sorry. (Sarcastic)
As for Being diplomatic and being misunderstood. Sorry (Non-Sarcastic). I know people never read words the way they they were intended (read most of my previous posts... I don't intend to offend at first, by the end it may be different). -
Quote:I do not know what could be more clear than multiple posts containing the nearly exact same line (which when reading any piece written in english when someone has to repeat something time and time again, generally that is the main point they are making) and then spends paragraphs clairifying what they meant, and other people in the discussion (read debate) completely ignore it, thats them being intentionally obtuse. They ignore it cause they are wanting to use smoke and mirrors to change the subject, turning the other person into the badguy, so they (and their stance) looks better by proxie, while not actually touching on the point the other person made. Hence the comment "if you can't win through brilliance, lose through... hey look a zepplin." They realize they cannot win through a brilliant statement, so they want everyone to look at how they arn't the Hindenburg (thus insinuating if they arn't the other person is). Now I know most kids now days wouldn't get the referance, but I work in education, so I hope people are better than they are.I don't really see how the two are linked. The vast majority of MA speed-leveling comes from teams that are all auto-SK'd to 50. They level just as fast or faster than the traditional solo Fire/Kin using a bridge because they're fighting all level 52-54 bosses. Saying that the new SSK system is a fix for the AE situation makes no sense to me. Losing the ability to bridge won't change the fact that you can ding 50 after a couple of days in the AE. Where's the "fix"? I'm not seeing it.
If you find that despite repeated posts other people constantly don't understand the point you're trying to make, then I'd say the problem is probably your writing style more than anything else. EDIT: to be clear I'm not dissing you. Just saying that when I find myself repeatedly not understood, the problem is usually that I'm not making my point clearly enough. Of course on these forums some people just have an axe to grind and they'll never admit you're making a valid point!
And because this is a massive thread and folks will read this message without necessarily seeing my previous posts, let me reiterate that I'm super happy over the coming SSK system and good riddance to bridging.
Back on topic tho, I did use some big words, so your right, I should have dumbed down my post since they couldn't understand. Well actually I did. Each successing post tended to be simpler and more basic in speach.
As for the debate tactics mentioned above, generally you can get a good idea of what I am explaining by watching an American Presidential Election. (Yes I am an American, but I recognise alot of the playerbase is not). -
Quote:My comment was "saying $15/mo entitles me to PL" is that same as "$15/mo means every kill should get me a purple."You don't need to make it so every time you kill something you get a purple, that's not what people are asking so stop being duurrrrrr and read between the lines. Most people, the "casual" ones I'm willing to bet, are generally miffed because they never get to see them. Now, whether this is because they truly NEVAR see one, or it's because they sit in AE all the time, who can say. The problem I've always had, though slight, in games where theres a chance for something to happen - like loot drops - is statistically, though extremely unlikely, you could literally play this game every day through it's lifespan and never get a 'rare' (whatever game/rare applies you decide). Ever, that's how chance works. On the flipside, yes, you could literally get a purple every kill. The thing that got me was with the defense mechanic. You can boost your defense to levels where everything always gets a 5% hit rate on you, but eventually and inevitably, you will get hit due to their streak breaker system. I just flat out wonder why they even have a system, but really, why can't mmo's or even this game incorporate that into their loot system?
Point is, when you log on, you should accomplish something or work your way to something. The 'casual' kids who don't spend a lot of time feel like they're not really getting towards anything aside from day job badges. With my patented Purplebreaker (copyright me), everyone can work towards something no matter how much time they have to devote, instead of whining and ******** when they don't get what's "coming to them".
I am not in fact advocateing that attitude. Really I have not been for or agains PLing. I am for ease of teaming, so I am willing to sacrifice PLing for it. Evidently people decide to read only a line or two cause every post I made yesterday was about the "I pay so I'm entitled" attitude. You pay, so you are entitled to log in and play the devs game.
Later I did make the point that the loss of PLing is the devs fix for all the "AE babies" threads. We all are losing the privilege of PLing, since so many people have complained about MA abuse. If you look in those threads you will see me advocate letting people play how they want to. I still think if you want to PL you should. I do from time to time. But I also don't want people to complain so much about the loss of PLing that we lose something else. Want bridging back, what if they take away sking/menting all togeather. then as long as you are in range you get to PL.
It has been quite a few of the people on this thread (adding -rep to me, while twice as many add +rep to me making it funny since I turned rep display off) that have completely missed my point. Missconstrewed what I said. They do that cause they are losing the war against all the people that love SSK so they... Hey look a Zepplin. -
Quote:Its not my way of play yet. My comment tho is she is complaining about "I pay $15/mo so I should be allowed to PL." That attitude is just as bad as "I pay $15/mo so I should have more purples." or "I pay $15/mo so I should get 20% more xp." or "I pay $15/mo so I shouldn't have to deal with AE spam."No she isn't. But you are.
She is not asking to dictate your play-style but you seem to be demanding she play your way.
Its all the same. Your money doesn't entitle you to anything more than access to the game that the devs write. Your opinion is that you are RIGHT in being able to PL for $15/mo. MY opinion is that your money doesnt entitle you to anything more than to play the devs game. If you don't like the devs game, leave. They will do as they see fit. Remember MA made PLing much easier, and all those people complaining about MA got SSK as the fix. Now you lose your way of playing because of others complaints, so you will complain cause you feel you are RIGHT in that your playstyle is nerfed. Complaints only nerf others. I guess most people are to self centered to see that.
SSK is the ix of PLing through MA which has been the complaint since MA rolled out. YOUR money doesnt enter the equasion. Your complaints do. And in an online community the most vocal majority gets there way. As you can see the vocal majority is for SSK so you wont get your way. Again YOUR money doesnt play any part of this.
Neither does my money. If I don't like it, I'll go play something else. Currently I like it.
P.S. I have taken breaks from the game due to changes I didn't like. My money went elsewhere. I didn't feel the need when I14 came out to complain about MA spam. I just left. Now with I16, GR, etc, I'm back cause I want to support these nifty features.
If you think your money has any sway on the game, then don't give it to the company. Loss of funds is more of a statement, than "boo hoo i pay and I'm not getting my way"
Say what you want, but if she didn't think she was RIGHT, then she wouldn't have said a word. I don't like others having to change play style to fit everyones needs, but the DEVs have spoken, and very very vocal majority has spoken, and your still paying the same $15 we are all paying, so if this were a democracy (which game development IS NOT) we would all have 1 $15 vote each month, which again PLing is in the minority.
Remember the DEVs make the rules. They determine what is "broken" and they have said the way things are is "broken." They are gonna fix it. They could have taken away all SKing/Exemping. They could have made it so you cannot party outside of 5 levels. They had tons of options that other MMOs use. I would much rather SSK as the solution.
P.P.S. "you seem to be demanding she play your way." you seemed to miss the part where I said I PL/farm during the week cause there ain't anything better to do. I would say that if I PL at all, then part of my play style coincides with hers. So let me fix your quote real quick here:
She is not asking to dictate your play-style but you seem to be demanding she play [partially] your way [which is also the way the DEVs have decided fits the leveling curve the game was balanced around and finally have a team+idea on how to fix so that we have less threads about AE n00bs since they will actually have to work for some of their levels, or spend a very long boring time doorsitting with people that don't need them there to farm, unless their friends are farming them in which their friends will usually show them the ropes to help them be better teammates and thus have more fun].

Quote:It took how many years for power customization?...There are tons of good user suggestions on how to fix the damn thing out there, but they are moving too slow to implement stuff.
How many Mastermind primaries have been asked for? How many have been gotten?
It takes time for fixes and ideas to be implemented. And that's if the Devs see it as broken. Complain as we might, they have the data that tells them all the usage statistics they need {or want} to know.
It would be nice if there was a forum for player ideas with a running list of all the ideas, seperated by category. It would also be nice if the mods moved all player idea threads to said forum. -
Quote:NO the Devs decide how we all play. They get rid of a feature, we either adapt, or leave. I adapt. Others complain, whine, and have their tantrums. When they don't get their way, they make thread after thread about not getting their way.I am sorry you failed, at both attempting to be brilliant and proving your point.
Everyone plays this game for their own reasons. As long as they don't break the TOS/EULA then it is not for you or me to judge. We don't get to decide how other people play the game. We only decide for ourselves.
Yes you are entitled to your opinion. I am entitled to mine. But the Dev's point is they consiter PLing the way it has been happening to be a break/exploit/unbalanced (one or multile of those). Whining without trying is childish. You told me to grown up, when you arn't even willing to give up the "blankie" of PLing. What about normal gameplay are you so afraid of that you can't even try the new system before compalining.
At least the AE complainers have played the game after MA was introduced. -
Quote:You are acting like an obnoxious brat by insisting your way of thinking is RIGHT, and everyone else is wrong. Grow up.Yes.
To the person who quoted me. I already HAVE ALL THE PURPLES I COULD EVER WANT IN THIS GAME FOR 3 ACCOUNTS. I HAVE ALL THE LotG +7.5 recharges x's 5 for 37 characters. I got it by farming/playing/pl my husband and our 3rd account/making new characters and doing ALL THE CONTENT so I can get ALL THE MERITS I CAN. If I want something in this game, I WILL HAVE IT. It's not spoiled to play the game to the best of my abilities.
You are acting like an obnoxious brat by insisting your way of thinking is RIGHT, and everyone else is wrong. Grow up.
/rawr
It applies to all of us who decide to pick a side of the fence. By saying that you are insinuating that "everyone else is wrong" compared to you and thus "You are acting like an obnoxious brat by insisting your way of thinking is RIGHT" and therefore should "Grow up." If you didn't think you were right, you wouldn't post. Even if that means others are wrong. All 700+ posts of us. and <100 posts of you. Its funny how the "losing" side always says the winning side thinks they are right, and never realizes the hippocracy of the statement. Its equally funny the winning side almost never has to say these words.
I guess if you can't win with brilliance, it's better to lose with... hey look a Zepplin! -
Quote:Why not every kill drop purples... its not somethin for nothing. Its something for very little. Thats what PLing is... Little work for lots of gain. ITs just as much over reacting as "OMGZ AE needz teh nerfz" or "OMGZ SSK ruinz mai PLn n i payz monez 4 teh gamez."There are many times I disagree with Perfect_Pain, but in this case I agree with her and think you're overreacting and mischaracterizing what she's saying. First of all, she doesn't want something for nothing, as your silly examples in the first paragraph imply. She farms, and wants to be able to PL, but she works for her rewards and/or XP--she doesn't expect anyone to hand it to her with no risk.
The extreme cases you cite of people PLing all the way to 50 are rare. I've seen it done in the past mostly by hardcore PVPers, and those people were expert players usually utterly bored by PVE. They wanted to get their characters quickly kitted out so they could fight other players.
The most common PLing I see (and participate in!) is to get quickly past the low levels, either to get a travel power, or to get Stamina and be able to slot SOs. The devs even tacitly admitted that after the first time or two those aren't the most fun levels, by their decision to ramp up 1-20 leveling speed.
The devs rightly come down on players like a ton of bricks when players use exploits like the Rikti Comm Officers or the Hami Mitos. But notice that they haven't banned maps of all bosses. That's because if you can clear an all boss map, you deserve the XP that comes with it. If you can clear that map and take some lowbies along for the ride, no harm no foul.
EDIT: by the way, lest you think I'm just some ebil PLer, the main use I'm going to put the new Super Sidekicking mechanism to is to team with my 2 kids. It's always been hard to put together teams because I need to get another mentor who will be cool with a sidekick that may abruptly announce that they're bored and want to stop playing. With this new system I can finally SK both of them at once. This is one of the best innovations EVER in COH.
I PL from time to time. I got nothing better to do with my 50's when I'm bored other than PL and farm. I TF on weekends with my alts to level them. But during the week I party with 50's or my 50 parties with others and whammo.
Even so, the convince of SSK far outweighs the slowness of leveling. And even so Just because you pay for a good or service doesn't entitle you to satisfaction. If you are ever not sastisfies with a product, take your money elsewhere. That's the benefit of non communist markets. There are always other alternatives. -
Quote:SO because I want all purples, and LotG 7.5, and Numia's +/+ i should get it. I pay each month and should get absolutely anything I want right? I want new mastermind primaries (not just 1, i want options like "Ninja Pirate Zombie Robots") I Pay so I get that right? I want the Dev "I Win Button." http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/The_I_Win_Button. Just because I pay, do I get it.?I think some people need to step outside their realm of comfort and really understand that some people who pay subscription fees to this game really do enjoy powerleveling their characters.
Most of them would have preferred all through time to have had the option to set the team size as to have not bothered you, at all ever.
We are getting many great new features in Issue 16. But blatently dissing part of the playerbase because they play the game differently than you, is kinda harsh.
People with the mentality of "I pay so I should get to PL" are spoiled little brats. Just because you pay, you are NOT entitled to everything. You dont like it, go elsewhere. MMO Dev's don't like game breakers. Filling your account with 50's gets boring. Those people don't stay long. Word of mouth gets worse. Game dies. Balancing the game and having a few months to get to max, keeps people in general interested. In that time people tell their friends good things. Even if they get bored, their friends are still having fun and promoting the game. -
Zone in w/ stealth/phase shift?
Change maps (diff maps have diff spawn locations)
Double check where patrols/ambushes are located
Thats about all I can think of. -
Quote:The heart of the answer is correct, as long as the lvl 1 team xp share bug has been fixed. If the Fire/Kin is fighting level 52s and the fillers are SKd to 49 then they will get xp as if fighting level 4 enemies.
The team xp share bug at level 1 is, level 1 toons didn't (and still might not) get xp for someone else's kill, even when SK'd. I learned this the hard way on a sewer team once.
Like I said, the heart of the answer is definatly correct. you always earn XP based off your security level vs. the differance between your combat level and the mob being killed, multiplied by a percentage based off team size, possibly weighted by the differential between your combat level and the combat level of the other people in the team, as long as your combat level is within 5 levels of the person doing the killing (and above 1 if that bug is not fixed).
Simply put the devs could make it so every level takes the exact same xp, and all xp is gien out based off the differential, and leveling would be uniform. As it stands they use an exponential formula to determine XPTNL and a lesser formula for XP Gain per Kill, so that later levels take longer. (tho they could standardise xp per kill, and just have TNL go up but meh, INF is directly based off xp gain, so they would have to totally revamp that equasion, and I would rather have new features)
Another way of looking at it is with an equasion. SL=Security level (or base level), CL=combat level, ML=the Mob's Level, TSB=Team Size Bonus,PK=Person killing
XP is based on: ((ML-CL)->Lookup on SL table)*(TSB)*(IF(|PK-CL|<=5) -
Recall friend, Pocket D, assemble the team, etc all seem to do it.
Some other fun stuff I've noticed about Self Destruct:
Sometimes I activate it, and it doesn't work although it goes into cool down.
Sometimes I activate it and self rez afterwords.
But the best happened last night. I use SD to go to hosp so I can work on DJ badge. I used SD, Died but didn't blow up, just took all the damage while running around till i dropped (I was a lvl 50 in AP so it wasnt mobs killing me). I rez to hosp. When i rez, I go through the SD animation without taking the damage, followed by an auto self rez (my blaster doesnt have self rez). -

Quote:Time plays a big part of all this, but if you look at XP gained, you know popularity. At some point certain AT's get to be "not so fun" as others and people quit. So bars of xp per day would show a few things.Hmm, interesting stat, but that doesn't really tell you how popular an AT is. It simply tells you how fast an AT can level. There are a LOT of factors that can affect that, and I'd say they are significant enough to make the stat mostly worthless. Plus it doesn't measure level 50 chars, though I suppose you could count XP equivalent at level 50.
Many people are proficient at PLing, which would make it appear like the PL'd char is being played a whole lot by gaining a lot of bars. In fact the PLer may be the only character being actively played.
Good teams earn XP faster than solo chars, so team oriented ATs and powersets would appear overrepresented.
You don't account for time played. If I had to guess, I'd guess that solo oriented ATs are more casual friendly, and get played for less time. ATs designed for teams (Tankers, Defenders, and Controllers) would be played for longer stretches. Add that to the previous point and team oriented ATs may be significantly overrepresented.
I'd say "time played" is really the stat you want. After all, it takes into account what people have logged in. Whether they're afk, soloing, teaming, or getting PLd, they chose to log in a specific char. That's really all that's important. And I still think the /search tool is all you really need. Do it a few times a week at different times to get a random sampling, and that will really represent what people are playing. Granted it won't see hidden chars, but I'd expect that to be a fairly small percentage of the population.
I honestly think /search will paint a rather different picture than all of the stats above, more than the population shifts due to recent buffs and nerfs would account for.
Daily Trends in AT's.
At what level are certain AT's being dropped on average.
Are people recreating within the AT or under a new one (the inferred data from trends).
Also you add in the Data-mining of what AT's are being deleted each day, and its faily comprehensive.
Example. I have made and deleted more trollers in the late teens/early 20's than I have made of all other AT's combined. Its because I never had the patience to get to 32 where the AT looks like fun. I play my 1 and only troller about once every few weeks, and I'm finally close to 32 (I tend to do most of my leveling through TF's cause I just find them fun). On the other hand I play my mastermind nightly, having only ever deleted 1 before it. I play my Blaster every weekend for at least a couple of hours.... after deleting 5 or so I found I love Ele/Dev. I never really enjoyed Scrappers until I made a fire/shield. Each AT I generally played to within a level or two of all the others before recreating. Not the same levels though. Trollers get to me around 15-22. Scrappers I start disliking around 24-27. Tanks I don't enjoy at levels 10-15. Etc. Etc. This sort of data-mining would see those trends. It would say not only what is popular (see what is made that hits level 10) vs. what is powerful (which AT's make it furthest on average).
Not that any single dataset will tell you the whole story, but I can see where Arcana was going with the data he/she would pull. -
Quote:So you use some of those Empath powers to help the team.In all honesty, I kinda play my Emp like your friend that left, only difference I still manage to keep Fortitude on at least half the team and give out buffs/heals >_>
Another quick example: He (the empath defneder with unslotted attack powers) refused to rez the scrapper because "If [I] stop attacking, the enemies won't die, and might kill [me]." I responded with "But you do <Censored> damage, and that scrapper can finish this in no time, as well as... nevermind yet another party wipe." So I used an awaken, handed him one+break free and he still refused to rez anyone.
EDIT: And I just realized why I hate Empathy (and by proxy defenders) so much. That guy was the person that introduced me to the game. I have partied with better empaths (as well as defenders), but somehow its rare to find one I really feel is a "team player." -
Then shouldn't it go something like this:
Hot Rod: "Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep ni ni bong?"
Sharkticons: "Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep ni ni bong."
EDIT: Evidently we are off topic when the thread is in direct violation of Forum use policy. Interesting how people think that talking about AE on yet another thread is more important than having a few laughs. Guess some people just can't ever be happy, and are trying to live by "Misery loves company" although since I find this all funny, they should try a different approach. -

Quote:Agreed.I doubt this would do anything to real teams. This makes teaming even easier. You don't have to search to mentors and you can auto pad the missions. If there's gonna be a lack of teaming, it's by door sitters and I think they'll be fine
As an aside, I have almost never had issues finding a 6-8 person team. Might have to do with 2 other players in the house with me. Could be that I have a small but active SG that loves running in anything. Possibly because Smaller Servers appear to be more team oriented (I play on Pinn). I don't know exactly why I don't have teaming issues, but sometimes I know there are people that have issues getting onto teams due to lack of ability to team.
There was a person back in.... I8 I think.... that was such a terrible teammate. He was a "Battle Empath" that took every single emp power, and every single NRG power. He would slot all his Emp powers, but never used any of them. He would not slot his NRG powers, but used them all the time. He would rush off, over aggro, and run back to a resting party. He would use KB powers on the mobs the scrapper was fighting, and ignore the ones on the blaster. We tried helping him. We tried giving him advise. He wouldn't listen to anyone. He was by far the worst player I have ever gamed with. He also was the guy that got me into CoX.
So a time came when we would not party him.... We were always "on a TF" or "full" or "logging soon." He would ask the SG and they wouldn't play in a team with him. Magically PUG's wouldn't keep him for more than a single mish. He eventually quit the game.
Moral of the story is, If you don't have a team, you might not be trying hard enough. You might not be looking hard enough. You might not be asking nice enough. You might not be a good enough player. You might not be slotted well, or have a "party" buld. You might become legend for being "that pug guy." It probably isn't you, but it might be. Take some time to think about what you can do to make you a value to any team you get on, and people remember you. My global friends list is full of great players, and almost every single one of them was in a radio PUG at one time or another.
EDIT: I am using the plural "you" to refur to the community as a whole or the individuals of said community. I am not singleing anyone out specifically. -
Check out the negative rep i got from earlier:

BUT if you look at the Forum Policies, they specifically state (which I am from time to time guilty of, but no more guilty of than all these SPAM and Cross Posting threads about AE):
5. Non-Constructive posts are prohibited.
...
* Spam - this is considered to be repetitive posting of the same topic or text or nonsensical posts that have no substance and are often designed to annoy other forum users.
* Do not create threads/posts to petition or lobby for game features, additions, changes, or other issues. You may post suggestions and/or ideas to the boards, but you may not create a petition for others to sign. This is bumping in disguise and will not be allowed. Lobbying is continually bringing up the same topic repeatedly in numerous different threads or as an off-topic post in official threads to get developer attention. This form of posting is not permitted.
* Cross posting - As a courtesy to others before beginning a new thread, please look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established using the Search feature. If so, place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forum needlessly and many good ideas may be lost. Use the Search link to keep discussions about one topic to one thread only.
* "NERF X!" threads are removed for much the same reason as "I'm leaving" threads. They can turn into threads with little or no constructive information.
* Thread necromancy - Necro-posting is responding to an old discussion thread and is a form of thread bumping. If you wish to discuss a considerably older topic, create a new post and link to the older discussion.
SO In all actuality, I was actually (and more politely than I currently am) pointing out violations of forum rules. The links I provided are in the first 4 pages, and are all no more than 5 months old. None of them are "necro posting"
As for anonymous lowering of rep, I will happily point out that cowards hide behind the mask of anonymity. If you want to say something, come out and say it. Whats the worst you can lose, a little pride, and rep points. Rep is a useless system that encourages people to not speak up for themselves. Either you speak the truth and anger someone, or you play a happy little cow and MOOve along. -

Seriously tho, I added a ling in my sig, and have noticed alot of others doing the same. All that needs to be said about MA is summed up in that post. Not the second post in my sig, the first one. Or you can look at Bright_Shadow's sig. And for the love of Whatever diety you do or donot believe in, STOP MAKING NEW MA THREADS.

The above links are in fact not the same
That's just from the first 4 pages of searching AE Ruining Game.
Does anyone think that there is not a thread already out there to add to?
Does anyone actually think their opinion has not already been said?
Some of these threads are angry, some started as discussions, some even funny. They have all pretty much ended up the same way: Tragic.
So please before making a new thread, think of all those orphaned MA/AE threads that need some lovin. -
Quote:What about data-mining that involved criteria like:While the recent Dominator buffs were nice for casual players, the associated nerf to PSW likely reduced their popularity among farmers, and increased the popularity of Brutes.
That said, I think we should really look at something different to see what people are playing. Honestly, the initial AT info is misleading, and probably produces a disproportionately high number of Brutes, Scrappers, and Blasters. People playing around with costumes are probably more likely to pick the top AT (Brutes or Blasters). Ditto for people making fillers, mules, marketeering drones, or other chars where AT doesn't really matter. And someone could make 5 Scrappers before realizing they want something tougher, so those Scrappers last an hour but the Tanker makes it to 50.
So what would be a more realistic way to measure what people are playing? Well the /search list is about the only tool available to players, but I think it'll do everything needed. You can /search and get a list of chars by AT and level, and I think level is important. It can take a while, but it should be fairly easy to log in to every server and get a count of chars by AT. You can add up the total levels of each AT or just count chars in certain level ranges (say around 1-15, 16-39, and 40-50). Maybe I'll do it some night. Or someone else could. Nudge, nudge.
*Character played at least 20,80,120 hours of the last 60 days?
*Characters logged in above level 20 (to avoid simple padders and marteteers) but below level 40, vs level 40+ (you kinda mentioned this)
*Characters logged in on accounts over a year old, vs under a year old.
#A combo of all 3
With all three you would see, what AT's are being played longest at a time (thus tend to be more "fun"). You would also see what AT's are making it to the end game vs, "getting too hard to play," vs "not fun at all." Lastly you would see what the "vets" play over what the "n00bs" play.
I think this would be a better descriptor of current trends. Most people I know get a 50, then make a HEAT and quit before lvl 20. Not all, but most. Most "vets" i know go for broken/farming builds over "just for fun" builds. Also I know alot of people that only log in to change dayjobs and log out, which would inflate numbers on played vs unplayed toons. -
I hate nuke end crash. To compensate, I either play AR/Arc/Ice (all which dont have end crash), or I don't take the nuke. I would rather be a steady fast paced damage machine that keeps scrappers in the party to play cleanup, over taking the nuke and dealing with all that down time. Oddly I have never thought to complain about it.

Quote:If your feedback is off, so be it. I'm just saying that its a good idea of having some way of people leaving MA feedback. I have yet to notice anyone play my arc's, not to mention no feedback at all. Interestingly I dont really care either way, but If someone does stumble upon one of my arc's, i would like to see something even if its "Lolz U not m8k tem gudz, U sux"I have my feedback set to off.
Maybe if some people learned not to say Horrible things, I would turn it back on.
I think TBH - MA Arc feedback should have like 20 or 30 Canned choices to pick from... and then the feedback giver have the option of leaving their global handle, so if the mission maker wants their candid feedback, they can at their liesure send them a tell.
Cause someone might actually say "Thats a pretty interesting take on recreating the Carnie Party Mish, but instead of adding <secret> you might try <something eles>"
BTW the Arc Ive been working on is a recreation of my fave Mishes with a bit more to them. Its heavily work in progress.
