"Dangit! Quit TALKING about the freakin' TOAST!" yelled Hal, beginning to burst into purple flame. "Haven't you done enough already?"
-
"Aw come on, quit teasing her," said Hal, beginning to feel bad about doing so himself.
-
"Well. . ." Hallucinogen said. "I don't know. . . my radiation can prevent any kind of detection, but. . . it doesn't work on anything without a mind. See, it basically erases knowledge of my presence from the minds of anyone around. . . or something like that . . . would be great, if I didn't suspect robots would be the biggest problem. . ."
Dang it. Did EVERYONE have robots these days? -
Hal chuckled in spite of himself. "Well. . . I must say, it is awfully hard these days to find a toaster that actually works properly. That could be useful."
-
"Okay, then. . ." Hal said. "So when do we leave?"
-
((Well. I shall say it comes BEFORE Crown of Thorns. Otherwise, everyone would know something that might come up occasionally and that I really can't tell you.))
"Well, I'm ready when everyone else is," Hal said. -
"You were created, too. . ." Hal felt a surge of sympathy for Experiment. He knew what it must be like, to be thrust into the world without any family to call your own, or even a full understanding of who you were. . .
((Oh, and by the way. . . is this before or after Crown of Thorns? Might be important. . . and. . . spoiler, I guess. . . the world DOES go back to normal after CoT, if you were wondering. . .)) -
"No, it doesn't. . ." said Hal. "I suppose, then, that this is why we are here? To try to find that ship, or whatever it is? Or is there more to this?"
-
"So then . . . What is it that your, ah, friend there picked up?" said Hal. He was a little surprised that Experiment's PDA was sentient, but he hardly had any grounds to call Experiment's behavior towards such a machine unusual, he thought, glancing at Essex.

*Experiment 2.0 walks into the commercial*
"Do you wish you could see Essex whenever? (You stalker!) Do you just wanna hold her? (PEDOPHILE!)
"Purchase the Essex plushie today!"
*Is rushed by twenty people at once.*
*Hits a switch to blow up everyone who purchased a plushie.*
Okay, Ess, I got rid of the freaks for you. You can come out now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why do I suddenly feel bad for Hal? 0=)
[/ QUOTE ]
No idea. After all, I had such a plushie already, and had no reason to buy one. -
Sure! Just sign this "I won't kill anyone during meetings" form!

*unable to resist*
Hey, Soviet! Join the Essex Fan Club! Current members are myself, Khell, Prodiguy and Mechagogue . . . *brandishes Essex merchandise* -
No, no, I haven't had any yet! Fresh can! . . . Or was there something else you objected to?

I also try to fashion some of my characters after cliches. Like Archlich, the evil all powerful undead mage who wants to but can't take over the world for spit.
[/ QUOTE ]
I love cliches! Dr. Phillis was created as a cliche just for fun, because I love taking cliches and making them as unique as possible while still being a cliche!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, Steel Eclipse is something of a cliche himself, and that is sort of what I am going for with him. -

And since my other characters are really embodiments of my RL friends and co-workers, I've got no idea about them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I just read this. I am the SAME WAY. All of my characters are either based on parts of my personality or my family and friends.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hal, Schizo, Moonscribe and Steel Eclipse are all me, haha. Yes. . . there is a part of me that is frighteningly like Schizo. . . but without the evil and sadistic parts. Basically, I'm just crazy that way.
I'm logical and polite like Moonscribe, and can be arrogant and desperate to prove how great I am like Steel. Sadly, though, I am most like Hal, which is a tad depressing. . .
But anyway. I would not mind at all. . . I was a little curious about that stuff anyway. -
"Oh, yeah!" said Hal, letting her lead him in, glad that no one could actually see how much he was blushing thanks to the smoke. "So, uh, Essex, any idea what this is about?"
-
Oh, really? That makes it even better! I watched dot.HACK/sign, and if it's anything like the music from that, I love it.
-
Haha, well, I think "kill a father" flows better. So, just as well. . .

Essex just chuckled quietly. It was a pained chuckle that seemed to be tempered with sobs.
"...You really want to do it this way, don't you? ...Alpha...Hal...Static..."
Her eyes turned up to Alpha in the helicopter, looking right through the translucent Phantasm.
"All right!" she laughed and cried at once, strange tears streaming down her cheeks as she regarded those around her. "If it's what you really want, I'll fight you...! ...You should have left me alone!!"
Blackness exploded from the android in a massive shockwave as simultaneously, the black shield appeared about her as thick as before. She was barely visible within the inky blackness, but something else was coming from the aura.
The haunting notes of a song, in her high, clear voice. The song seemed to slow the reflexes of those who heard it, making those around her dizzy and fuzzy.
"Shine
Bright morning light,
Now in the air the spring is coming,
Sweet
Blowing wind,
Singing down the hills and valleys,
Keep
Your eyes on me,
Now we are on the edge of hell,
Dear my love,
Sweet morning light,
Wait for me, you've got much farther,
To fight..."

Experiment's head quickly snapped up toward the spine-user, his eyes burning with hatred.
"Burning... Burning did it?! I always did hate magic... I knew it was uncontrollable..." He nodded to Prodder, looking at the large amount of smoke, signalling his target. "Thanks. Now, I am going to have to kill a father. Stay out of my way."
2.0 sprinted faster than he had before, dodging right through the battle, and into the green area, his spines ready to be impaled in Burning Brawler, and anyone else who got in the way.

I cannot seem to get Experiment's line in this post out of my head. -
Well, I think it's fair to say that this thread is drifting away from its original topic, so I might as well do this. . .
Occasionally, someone posts something that I just think is really awesome. . . but that I don't really want to say anything about, for fear of spoiling it. So. . .
Eh, I might as well mention it in this thread! Always good to tell people what they're doing right as well as what they're doing wrong. . .
From now on, I will post things that I REALLY liked on this thread, as Best. Post. EVER. I am probably not going to do this often . . . as I am doing this retroactively . . . and I have only two posts to start with.
Obviously, though, I am not going to post anything that is in a thread before I joined, or a thread that I never joined.
So anyway, two Best. Posts. EVER. on the way. . . -
"Oh!" said Hal, in a tone that everyone knew fairly well by now. "H, Hi, Essex! Nice to see you again. . . Experiment invited you too, then?" He realized little hearts were forming from his smoke, and fanned himself furiously.
-
Yes, well, he is not Moonscribe. Moonscribe does that. One of his character flaws . . . although it's primarily Djehuty's influence, but never mind that. . .
-
Haha, Moonscribe may well betray Acid, Toy and company and go back to Blightlord if it seems like a good idea. . . but it probably won't since I bet Blightlord would kill him.
