Remember way back in the day when this thread got started and everyone was like “WOW those are great resistance costume pieces, I can’t wait to wear them, splat, splat, splat,” and “Oh super keen, first I changed my desktop to a lolz cat and now my crippling depression doesn’t seem so bad anymore, because I have a reason to live again, I get to wear glowing stuff.” Well, get out a mop and find something sharp. That picture is of a NPC, not a new costume set.

Me so sorry about that there wasn’t a clearer explanation of what was going on in the screenshot, I really am. But when you get down it and think about this rationally, this is really your fault, you jumped to a conclusion. You know I told you a thousand times not to do that, but I guess I need to teach you another lesson in the silence of the basement, next to the treadmill you don’t use anymore. Looks like you and I won’t be going over to your mothers for dinner like you planned. Canceled! The writing is on the wall baby, you are going to just have to tell the neighbors how clumsy you are, and just deal with it. Let the guilt of your wrong doings lead you on a path to righteousness. You’re welcome.

See how I turned that around, take a note kids.
    Oh Sexy One,

I know you were joking when you "turned that around".

Unfortunately, if the forums have taught us anything, it's that there is a serious lack of a sense of humor exibited by many of the forumites. Many are looking for a reason to feel outraged and disrespected. And you handed it to them on a silver platter.

In the coming days, weeks and months, this post, or more accurately portions or misconstruing summaries/recollections thereof, will be used as "evidence" of Dev disrespect of the player-base. If you look at a few of the posts between your post and this one, you'll see that it's already started.

I (and many others) love your bat-[WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS]-crazy, random-[WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS] posts, but please refrain from anything that, no matter how jokingly, casts any aspersions on the players.

Because it will create unnecessary drama, and we have enough of that as is.

Yes, it would have been sweet, but it does seem that the glowing “Tron-esque” armor is NPC specific. There could be a dozen reasons why it might not work as costume pieces – these things are always way more complicated on the back-end than you might think.

That being said, your overwhelming response to the armor did not go unnoticed by the Devs, so they are definitely aware that if there is ever an opportunity to bring you costume pieces of this nature, you want them! I wouldn’t be surprised if the wheels in their heads are already turning. I’m not saying that anything will end up coming out of it, but our Devs tend to be pretty good at fleshing out all the possibilities.

And by the way Jay, we don't have a basement.
Ocho, that's good to hear. I suspect that what most of us want isn't necessarily those exact pieces, but "glowy" costume options. I know that from day one, I was simulating them with areas of bright patterns overlayed upon darker pieces, so I certainly was excited by the prospect of actually having glowy bits.

The crew member, a tough guy ironically named Jill, is the show's comic relief and consistently pushes the limits of believable stupidity.

'C'mon, wasn't but one little bull out a' the whole herd. Nobody'd a' noticed!" sputters Jill.

'I noticed, Jill. And what do you conjure you would a' done with one little bull out here in the middle of space anyway?'

'Well let's see... awful lonely out here and Bessie's a mighty fine conversationalist. What d'ya think? Coulda' sold it--buyer already lined up.'

'Go to your cabin, Jill. We'll talk on this later.'

Once Jill leaves the room, the captain opens a door to expose two eavesdroppers: the ship's pompous, over-educated doctor and his crazy little sister. 'I expect you two heard all that?'

The crazy sister ponders: 'Bessie is a girl's name, too...', but the Doctor interrupts: 'You're going to let that venal imbecile stay on the ship? That man is dangerous!'

The captain responds. 'Jill? Well, venal part ain't none of my business, but I wouldn't worry about him being dangerous to you. He's like Dr. Aeon, and not just because of that thing with the bull. Sure, Dr. Aeon talks tough about shutting down television, but five seasons is a healthy long life on prime-time for a show about a time traveling scientist. You're making the same mistake about Jill that forum posters make about the computer. Neither one is dangerous in its place. Computers aren't a problem as long as you watch television while you use them. You can even watch television on the computer.’

The captain turns toward you. ‘The Television appreciates your concern and support Forum Posters, but don't avoid the computer on account of the Television. We're all friends on the same side. The red side. Everyone but Aeon. I hear he's been spending all his time in blue side AEs these days. Is that what friends do? Will you play CoV and watch Television, Forum Posters?’

Meanwhile, we’ve been growing in size and have had some exciting staffing promotions and changes occur recently that we’d like to share with you – especially because some of the individuals involved are about to start interacting here on the boards as new red names!

Always willing to jump in and get his hands dirty, Matt “Positron” Miller has handed over day-to-day management of the Design Team to Melissa “War Witch” Bianco so that he can focus on the critically important End Game system in addition to a few other “top secret” initiatives. We’re certain that Posi has made this selfless hands-on sacrifice not only to ensure that the End Game is the best it can possibly be, but also to make Melissa’s life a living…er… a lovely educational and professional growth experience. So congratulations and good luck to War Witch who now leads the Design team, boldly forging CoH’s path into the future.
Ok, I'm not sure how to read this. Is WW the Design Team Lead for G_R, or all of CoX from this point forward?

If it's the former, that makes total sense. If it's the latter, it seems... odd. That's not to say that I think WW wouldn't do a good job (GRATS! Btw).

Congratulations to everyone who got a promotion.

    As to the new hires...

Muahahahahahahaha... more fragile little minds to shatter in our forums. Welcome to the loony bin.

I would guess that it's probably a combination of that and things ramping up big-time for G_R.

And I echo the sentiment of "hope you still post BaBs".

During the previous Winter Event, I actually tried coordiating TP friend with an SG mate (over vent) to try to cut some time off of my expert slope run. Specifically, we tried to bypass the long time it takes to bet bounced up to the top of the slope, hoping to not only cut out some time, but see if we could start at the top with more momentum.

It really doesn't work very well. Granted, it was late, and we were both getting a bit loopy, but even with perfect timing, where I accepted the TP right after I hit the previous checkpoint the time-savings was so minimal that the effort to get it "just right" would better have been spent perfecting other parts of the run.

However, if someone is having trouble with the run, and you are not using your 2nd build, I suggest making a ski-run build, taking the travel powers (like CJ), that make the run easier. That's what I did with my kin, and went from struggling to get the silver to logging the fastest run of the day. YMMV, but if you're not using your 2nd build...

Yes, you need an open slot. Otherwise they would effectively be giving a way free slots and transfers to anyone with a bit of intelligence (Note: This is not an attack on the person I quoted).

    Then, you're doing it wrong.

I don't mean this to be snarky, but there are so many things you can do with IOs (and more specifically IO-sets) that you can give toons completely new functionality/dimensions. Do they do the damage of a pre- ED max damage blaster? Maybe not. But that same blaster now can have a number of tricks that allow him to be far more surviable... and that's just one example.

Even if you don't build for sets, frankenslotting allows for more return on less slots.

Excellent job with the Libertarian pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstaps, I-don't-need-anyone's-help-but-my-own speech, though. It's complete economic and social bupkis without any bearing on a world outside of the sheltered conceptualizations of those that the current system has never failed before and thereby never had the chance to prove its merits to. Still, you're free to believe it and continue to believe it, no matter how complete wrong it may be, without fear of repercussion thanks to the very safeguards you so adamantly rail against.
    Even better.

But given that you can find core i7 920s for $200 (as of 4mo ago), and they run circles around any AMD processor, if you're not looking at a total budget system, I'd get the core i7 920.
