Dammit! I might not be able to be on tonight! Something called "life" is getting in the way.
It looks like you have to manage without Desirée's vocals.
If I can join up with you, I'll be late. -
((If you're still interested in GoodGuy's involvement, I'll give you a glimpse of his origin. It's a moderately cheesy rip-off, I know, but hey.. It was supposed to be.
I originally posted it on the PCP forum .
His TRUE name by the way is Carl Wilson.))
[u]Chapter One[u]
Where to begin?
At the beginning of course, but when is that? I cant remember.
What I do remember is a bright light and a roaring sound. And then a huge crash.
But why? I do not know.
Anyway! I know that Im an orphan. My parents told me that when I was (presumably) seven years old. Not my real parents obviously, but rather the nice couple that found and raised me.
They found me one evening in May when they were sitting on the shore of a lake, looking at the sunset. Suddenly they noticed the body of an infant, floating face down, among the reeds. They ran to rescue it but knew it would be too late. When they picked him up he began to cry, and gave them quite a shock.
They never did report the incident to the authorities (they couldnt say why) but rather told them that Mary (my mother) had given birth to me. So I am legally their son. As far as the government is concerned anyway.
I then grew up on their farm in Minnesota, as any other boy would do. Giving a helping hand when they thought I could manage, running errands, hunting rabbits and rats. You know. The usual.
But one day when I was seven I did something unusual. I survived.
Joseph (my father) was taking out the combine-harvester on to the fields, not noticing me amongst the wheat, and ran me over. The machine almost broke when I got jammed in the cutters. It did break when I freed myself, tearing the metal apart with my bare fists.
That night they told me that I was an orphan.
[u]Chapter Two[u]
I couldnt quite grasp it.
And the concept of being something other than human well I was only seven.
Id never suspected that I was something other than their son. Id never tried to lift something heavier than my parents thought I could handle. Id never wrestled with anybody. There were no other kids around.
Id never hurt myself. Now that I think of it that shouldve been a clue. Of course Ive had my share of falls and stepping on rusty nails, but I had never been hurt and had never seen my own blood!
Gradually, and with the help of my father, I grew up with a clear view of who I was and what I should do with my life. I remember him saying:
Son, you can punch a hole through a concrete wall and throw a car. Imagine what you could do to a human being. Youve come here for a purpose and I think that the purpose is to protect those weaker than you and to help those in need. Be a good guy!
So when I grew up I became just that.
[u]Chapter Three[u]
I kept a low profile in school and never caused any trouble. The other boys (of course) noticed so they bullied and made fun of me, but I always kept calm. On the outside at least.
It was a hard time. I cried in my room at night, cursing my destiny. I just wanted a normal life.
Time went by.
The bullies still tried to hurt me but I shrugged it off, knowing that they couldn't do a thing to me. My powers grew every year and by my sixteenth birthday I could lift the combine-harvester without breaking a sweat and a shotgun blast just gave me a bad breath (yes, I put the barrel in my mouth and pulled the trigger).
By and by I learned to cope with it all.
I moved to Paragon City to study history at the University.
Finally I was at peace. No bullies and a blessed anonymity. Everything was perfect.
But it wouldn't last.
My father paid me a visit one day. Just to see if everything was alright.
I showed him some of the wonders of the city, Atlas statue, the Arena, Talos Islands, the works. We ate at a great restaurant in Founders Falls. It was a good day.
We were on our way back when some gangers suddenly ambushed us. (I now know they were Hellions, but I didn't know it then.) They attacked us savagely with sledgehammers, shotguns and knives. I fought them ferociously with everything I got, but it was to late. By the time they were down or fleeing, my father was dead.
I couldn't save him. I was too slow. Too weak. Powerless.
It took me a full year to recover from the trauma. My mother never blamed me, but I did (and I always will).
When I finally came through, I noticed all the heroes of Paragon and knew that I would become one of them. I would do everything in my power to prevent something similar to happen ever again.
I remembered my fathers words and decided that I would become: The GoodGuy. Protector of Innocents! -
I'd be happy to play the GoodGuy in a golden-age RP campain, but I can't create a SG.
GoodGuy is a member of the SG Paragon City Protectors (same as Britanic) and it's really just a great group of great people that I count as friends and I wont quit. Even if it's a non-RP group.
I RP GoodGuy amongst other RPers but he's not a "constant" RP-character. I've got other alts for that.
But then again... I'll GLADLY get GoodGuy involved in this idea. -

((so is this about Warm Touch? because I know him OOC
and really hes not that bad, I can try and get him to stay outta Ds with it if you want?))
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure that he's a nice guy, but he really should take a hint and cut down on the "bad-[censored]-villain" annoyance when people (repeatedly) ask him to. -
[ QUOTE ]
It doesnt get any more 'Golden age' than that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you very much! I had that in mind when I "designed" him.
I had an alter-ego costume before, but changed it to a more "modern" looking costume. -
Is GoodGuy "Golden Age" enough for you?
-
As I see it, "crime" will always be a part of life in Pocket D. You just can't expect a bar, filled with some of the worst criminals in the world, to be crime-free.
As long as there's no fighting, murder, drug pushing, [censored] or similar "recreational" activities on the premises, people will probably be able to bully or threat eachother to their hearts' content.
And about selling alcohol to minors...
In the US you have to be 21. But in Sweden its 18.
So who's a minor in Pocket D? Does US law rule, and if so, why? -
[ QUOTE ]
Pocket D as a place resides in another dimension and allows in humans, gods, demons, aliens and whatnot. From the Isles side in pours a whole flock of scum and villainy and I find it hard to believe that they get carded. Also, young characters can walk into Pocket D at will so the way of least headaches is to accept that. One way to look at the situation is to expect US laws to be applicable. The other way to look at is to assume that it is not so. People are free to choose, but the fact remains that there will be underage characters in Pocket D. Personally I choose to accept their presence as an IC fact and assume that the rules in fact allow this.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly! Where is Pocket D located? NOT in the US, that's for sure. It's not even located in our dimension! Thereby US laws doesn't hold.
And as stated above... If someone is in Pocket D, be it a 7 months old magical construct, 500 year old deamon or a 14 year old human, they count as "adult". If they can get in there they qualify as that and is also (as adults) responsible for their own actions and behavior.
I you want to do "adult-things" you will be treated as an adult! -
Des (Lady Cacophony) will be online both thursday and friday night. (My global handle is @Blatifagus)

Load a /ignore round into your weapon of choice, point and shoot.

Easier said than done since he squeezes himself in between people and worms his way into gatherings.
Makes normal RP-interaction a bit difficult.
Haven't seen him for a qouple of days now, come to think about it.
Maybe he's been done in? -
((I'm sorry to say that I agree. I was there as well, starting up a new alt, and that guy tried his best to spoil everybody's game.
It's inevitable that you annoy people while you RP sometimes, but if you wont stop your act when "numerous" people ask you too, you're just a plain a-hole.)) -
As a matter of fact, I'm planning just such a thing with my brother and a friend!
I've made a MM "ninja master" and they're doing some ninja stalkers. -
Yes. To reach lvl 10 before we "start" is a good idea.
But since my computer is still busted (but will be fixed soon hopefully) I can't possibly play this friday. Next friday is a safer bet on my part.
(and BTW... my brother is creating a toon as well!) -
Aaaargh! A chance to create a new alt! Must... resist... *sigh*
It's no use. She's fully formed.
Desirée Bell ("Hero" name is not fixed yet) sonic/sonic defender. Lead singer. -
[ QUOTE ]
Don't worry though, I have two other possible RP events planned. One's kind of surreal though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds lovelly! Surrealism is my favourite art form.
Keep us informed! -
I think I'll add to the confusion here...
I would go for the Magic!
If she was brought back to life by magic, then magic it is!
The technology part can easily be an "arcane-engineering" style. Think Arcanum (computer game) or Sons of Ether (from the P&P RPG Mage).
Just my oppinion. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh and might as well clear up a few thinks, since it's inclusion in goodguy's story in the IC story topic, they can now talk if you want them to (there is both talking and non-talking varieties for sale now).
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah well, sorry if you feel "highjacked" but your idea about the walkie-toaster was just too cool to ignore. And since GoodGuy is living with High Burn (who own two of them) it was kind of inevitable to use them in a story.
And while I wrote it, the blasted toaster just started to talk and sing! I was shocked really! It certainly wasn't planned that way.
Anyway... Good luck to your business venture Doc! -
Yes. I posted a reply this morning, but when I tried to access the forum later (aprox. at ten) it was impossible.
Too bad, since I was planning to write a masterpiece!
Hopefully it will be corrected this evening, since I've got some plans till tomorrow. -
So much have happened since my last entry.
Ive been analysing the Watchmens DNA and its not an easy reading!
We are definitely dying. Well most of us anyway. And Johnny Ember and myself are going soon. Very soon.
We have installed a huge tank in med-bay now that keeps Johnny on ice so to speak. He has to live in there until we figure out a way to stabilise ourselves.
Britanic gave me a chemical that he in turn got from a friend. It slows down the mitosis of cells. In itself it was ultimately useless, but I figured out a way to take those properties and create a new retrovirus that countered the effects the Hyperion-mutagenic-chemical (got to give it a proper name soon) have had on our DNA.
The result was both wondrous and horrible.
The retrovirus, tailored from the subjects unchanged DNA string, removes the changes in our genes. It will cure us from the effects of the Incident, leaving us free from the nova-curse but also from our powers.
The effects are so drastic and taxing to the system that it might just as well kill us. I dont know the odds yet, but the risk is unsatisfactory high.
I will continue to research a method to just increase our control over the changes, but I need some of that improved chemical that Ms Slash talked about.
And tonight it almost happened!
I was at Pocket D just to take my mind off of things and met Suzi with boyfriend and the Bay State Ranger.
Suddenly I felt it as if the temperature in the room plummeted down, but I soon realised it was me getting hotter. I was beginning to loose control.
I dashed out of the Pocket and went straight to the Bunker.
My clothes were a mere pile of dust when I finally turned on the dampening field Ive been working on. With the help of the field I managed to get my powers back under control, but it took the good part of the night.
From now on I will have a dose of tailored retrovirus with me at all times. Just to be sure.
I will not risk anyone elses life. -
HAHAHAHAHA!
A masterpiece that! Good thing I already read the "Teach Yourself Vulcan Mind Discipline" books. Otherwise I think I'd wetted myself while laughing!
Why didn't I think of this guy first? Such great RP:ing he could offer. *sigh* -
Cool suit. But I do think that the mask should be optional (I can't see Dr. Furnace's hair fit in that mask!)
Are people on for tomorrow night? -
A Hyperion Watchmen uniform? Cool! How should it look do you think? Star patterns ofcourse, but other than that?
And please do PM me (or my alt Dr. Furnace) if your characters give a DNA-sample and if it should reveal anything special. I can feel a story brewing! -
I'll be there!
Both as GoodGuy (for a "quickie" so to speak) and as Dr. Furnace. -
[ QUOTE ]
Personally, I prefer not to take fly on a tanker, as CJ is far more useful in combat situations, and SJ is a far more versatile travel power which lets you put slots in more important powers. However, knowing your concept, it is pretty essential in your build. Having Air Supremacy is also very useful on a tanker, so it is still a good build on those grounds.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes I'd say that the jumping pool is better for a tanker, but then again... flight IS essential for my concept.
I'm very thankful for the response from all of you. Thanks! It really helps. -
I'm more of a "team-player", although I do solo at times, so I think I'm more into drawing aggro and taking punishment over dishing out huge amounts of damage.
Can't deny that it's fun to see an enemy fly thru the air after a solid uppercut though!
