Well, bringing it back to witchcraft again, there's also a well known command in the Bible that says "you must not allow a witch to live" - and it's pretty hard to see how that can be interpreted in any way that doesn't lead to murder.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but doesn't that go against "thou shall not kill"? At least if you say both these are true and command of God in the full extent.

What you're seeing is something along the lines of "Bible is written sloppily and has contradicting arguments".

What I'm seeing in those two passages is something more along the lines of "You're looking at a logic puzzle with an answer somewhere in the book that has some nice clues about it written in the form of the original text"

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's a distinction between private killing, and judicial killing - there's no real puzzle about commands that tell individuals not to kill, but says that killing in the name of God is fine.

Make them no longer study witchcraft? ZOMGLOGIC!

    [/ QUOTE ]

And the part where it says people who use magic or summon spirits must be killed?

    Hi

There's so much new stuff since I7, it's kind hard to list it all
But you can also check out the site www.paragonwiki.com - it's got loads of info on all apsects of the game.

Funny how it all worked out, really.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah. One of the biggest and saddest things ever happened to Christianity was when people started teaching other people what they had read in the bible (and writing their own versions of it) instead of teaching people to go read the bible and discuss what they found there.

    [ QUOTE ]
Well, there are a few quite clear instructions in it that you can't really interpret any other way - things like don't kill and don't steal

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh boy. You haven't really looked around and seen how wrong those things can be "interpreted"

In a symbolic way, yes - just like countries are usually thought of as being female.

[/ QUOTE ]They are? I usually just think of them as, you know, countries.

Besides, even with your logic, angels would then be thought of as males in a symbolic way, which would mean that they aren't in fact male, but genderless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't say angels were thought of as male - being called "sons of God" seems to indicate that they're male for sure.
  6. Well, they buffed MA recently, and I think Claws are getting buffed soon too - so they're not always nerfing everything
  7. I'd like mobs were some of them ran off to get help, or help arrived if you didn't defeat them within a certain time.

there are little rewards for killing l'il old me 100 times in ten mins (no GG, this HASN'T actually happened - I'm exaggerating to make a point)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know - IOs now mean it'd take 12 minutes
  10. [ QUOTE ]

With that much time to go don't you think it's a but premature to start talking about "doubt" "disappointment" and being "frightened"?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, this ain't a WoW trial

I'm beginning to think this Genesis thingy might have all been made up (or stolen off other religons). But why?

    [/ QUOTE ]

One of eternal questions of man, eh? But, what it's worth, the bible's much more interesting than it appears at a quick glance (the one usually taken by zealots and your run of the mill members of the church these days) - intertextuality, number-based riddles and other stuff span both testaments. It's naturally a teaching tool for a moral ethos, but the answers usually lie a bit under the surface and require you to think on multiple levels. It's basically a big couple of books that teach you not to take anything you've read for granted or at face value but to think for yourself.

The only thing in the PvP zones that is directly attributable to those zones is reputation. Which, Tah Dah! Expires over time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Anything in a PvP zone is PvP content, even if it can be done without PvPing - if content exposes you to the risk of PvP, then it's PvP content, and so it usually has a slightly higher reward.

Angels = male (male names, and called the Sons of God)

[/ QUOTE ]Because the angels adopted those names from human males, rather than the other way around, right?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Either way, they're still male - male angels give their names to human men, or human men give their names to male angels.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So there's boy angels and girl angels? And hence baby angels, who they give bows and arrows to on the 14th of Febuary with orders to Go Hunt. Shoot Humans.

    It all makes sense now.

I assume this is also why we have boy hurricanes and girl hurricanes. Although interestingly they were all girl hurricanes until a few years ago when the weather people started using male labels for them as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, female angels are never mentioned, and the only time angels are described as reproducing is when male angels married human women in Genesis - "son sof God" marrying "daughters of men".

sorry Col, I should have clarified on the concept rather than assuming everyone knew what I was on about

Room 101 originates (i think - please correct if wrong) from the George Orwell novel "1984" in which people live in a true "big brother" state complete with thought police and what-not. People who refuse to conform are arrested and sometimes tortured in the eponymous "room 101" - which is where you come face to face with whatever your greatest fear is. example: in the film the guy was afraid of rats so they put a helmet on him that had rats in it etc.

This was subsequently used as a basis for a comedic chat-show in England whereby celebrities (or varying standards of fame) are invited to nominate several of thier pet hates to the host who will then decide whether to consign them to room 101 where they are destroyed and erased from reality (this last part is debateable as i'm sure someone put Anne Robinson in once).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fixed. Originally Orwell wanted to call it 1948 because he has always had a very right wing political agenda and wrote it after Atlee's landslide victory in 1945. However it's an apposite read currently some might argue.

Orwell is also famous for writing Animal Farm and fighting in the Spanish Civil War (I'll let you guess which side he chose :P)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought he was a Communist, and those books were written when he realized how Communism would become the same as fascism, because both systems were undemocratic, and actually very alike?

The Developers and publishers of City of Heroes/Villains love their fans and do everything possible to keep them content, as they continuously create free expansion packs in the form of Issues, akin to a comic book, to keep their loyal fan base happy and anticipating more.

    Welcome back

What sort of stuff did you want advice on?
  23. If they removed Outbreak, there'd still need to be a tutorial area - new players shouldn't have to rely on the Help channel to learn about the game.
