So the devs saying things like "it's not the Resistance that's the threat, it's Tyrant", "Cole is a tyrant", and refering to his government as a "totalitarian regime", and Chimera, as head of the secret police, being responsible for more murders than the rest of Tyrant's enforcers put together, along with the mass murder of thousands of superpowered people and any of their familes that wondered where they'd disappeared to, and saying they used books like "1984" as inspiration for Praetoria doesn't sort of hint a little bit about the true nature of the Praetorian government?

That's not up to me to decide

It' not religous - it's a crusade for freedomQuote:So, this is a religious crusade for you? Then that explains the complete lack of logic or reason.
It can still be a crime against normal human moralityQuote:If there's no law against it, it's not a crime.

Quote:Well, not just American - any democratic system is ok.So in other words you can have any government you want, as long as it's American government.
When they're god-like beings capable of changing the entire universe, then yes, I doQuote:Doesn't even enter into it. Or do you regularly act based on what spirits from another world tell you?
Well, nothing the enforcers of dictatorship do would be illegal under the laws of the dictatorship, would they?Quote:Somehow I doubt there's any law on the Utopian books against the Seers.
-
Quote:And they knew exactly how it was going to turn out? They already did. They overthrew their old government in order to establish their current one.

So brainwashing and propaganda have nothing to do with it?Quote:Incorrect. That actually implies that the majority of the population genuinely believes that the so-called dictatorship is actually an entirely legitimate and effective form of government. Regular civilians still form the bulk of the population in a world of super-powered beings, regular citizens who, E.G., cannot prevent their minds from being read. What we have here is the mind police, their main targets CANNOT resist them, and yet there is still a standing population.
It can only be concluded that the citizenry of Praetoria - perhaps not as a whole, but within a very, very overwhelmingly large majority - think that everything is just grand.
By the end of the 1-20 content, they'll ALL be shown to be evilQuote:Quite frankly, if you head into Praetoria with yours plans, your ideals, your beliefs? You will be branded as a member of the lunatic fringe, a borderline anarchist. You're image would be one of a seeker of destruction and mayhem, of civil collapse. These people LIKE their system, their ignorance and questionable governing tactics aside. You can't actually win them over without HARD evidence that implicates the ENTIRE government, not just a single member of it - That includes Emperor Cole. Merely overthrowing him just makes the way for, say, the coincidentally entirely innocent Antimatter, or the reknowned and benevolent engineer, Neuron.
That's why Primal Earth heroes would be there to help them establish a proper government and fight the DE for them.Quote:And then what? Assuming you can SOMEHOW convince the majority of the population via incriminating evidence against the entire foundation upon which their government is established, what are you going to do? Just say, "Ok! Pick the bits you don't like and toss them out!" That. Would. Not. Work. Because the bad bits are, sadly but inevitably, the bits that make the rest of the system work, because the system was built to support the bad bits from the ground up. You would essentially be creating a MASSIVE power vacuum, throwing everything into disarray in the process, and effectively be creating utter anarchy. Even the Resistance would be entirely ineffectual here - Even if you incriminate the government they oppose, they are still just a bunch of lunatics who may have, in their own crazy way, been right. That is not going to make people listen to them. The Resistance would still be viewed as a terrorist orginization in the event of the government's collapse. -
Quote:They can choose whatever government they like - as long as they always have the option of chaning it - that's the way democracy worksActually, your actions have proven that they don't. Because they've already seen if they don't govern themselves the way you want them to, you'll just come in, smash everything up, and upend their lives again.

The Hero Con panel?Quote:And you've still not commented on the two big points on these 'disappearances'.
1) You have no proof. The only thing you have is a rumor started by Anarchists. I have no doubt that we have the same rumors in Paragon. How many times have meta-humans gone missing in the various arcs? I can almost guarantee that there are people that claim that at least some of these are the result of government plot. Hell, after seeing how eager you are to destroy a world based on a rumor it wouldn't surprise me to hear OUR criminal groups try to start a couple of these just to get you on their side.
When the method of crimefighting itself becomes a crime, then you've already lostQuote:2) If we get proof, we still need numbers. There's one thing you can NOT deny: Their method of crime fighting works. Ours doesn't. Heck we joke about how much of a revolving door the Zig is. The big question is: Is the Utopian government killing more people than criminals do here?
-
Quote:Well, the secret police, the mind readers, disappearances, and the mass murders will have to go - otherwise, it's not really a utopia then, is it?Something tells me there's not going to be much of Utopia's government left once you're done telling them what laws are 'evil'.

No - just have the choice to decide how they want to govern themselves.Quote:Let me guess, live free or die?
When people are being mind-read by a dictatorship, it's kind harda to get an honest opinion about the dictatorshipQuote:You do realize that only works when the people don't LIKE their government, right?
-
Quote:No - replace it with a democratic Paretorian government. You want to invade their city to bring down their government and replace it with our own.
Not make them free - give them the choice to be freeQuote:The only difference is he prefers to keep his people safe, and you want to make them free. Whether they want it or not.
-
-
Removing Tyrant and his thugs will just be the start of the job - Praetorian will need Primal Earth help and protection until they're able to take care of themselves once the numbers of superpowered people recover from Tyrant's mass-murder program.
-
Quote:Removing Tyrant and his henchpeople from power doesn't mean there won't be any laws - it's just the evil laws that will join Tyrant in the trashcanAlright, I'll give you the point here. I'm sure there won't be any disappearances once Tyrant is tossed out, law (that is ALL law, not just the "bad" ones) is dissolved, and the wars have begun.

Feminine intuition?Quote:Of course, good luck convincing all and sundry that there's anything malevolent about the disappearances, or that they're even occurring at all. And how would you know about anything like this anyway, hm?
-
Going by the lack of shadows and ambient occlusion, I'm gonna have to say "no"
-
Quote:Well, we're not totally sure they're doppelgangers yet - the wording and Issue title seem to hin that they are thoughI17 is gonna be good.I say this because their is the doppleganger which not much info was givin about.
The Dual Pistol head start is not part of I17 - it's tied to pre-ordering GR.Quote:Also there are some more things they didnt mention. So were in the dark on a couple things about i17 still. I'm just patiently waiting for March so i can make my pistols corr and be a happy camper till April lol. -

Quote:Having no friends and being socially inept is not something you're born with - which means it's something that can be changedI'm enough of an outcast what with having no friends and being socially inept, no need for the game to rub it in by refusing me badges as well

Quote:That´s correct - to access DP and DS you must buy GR - and if you buy it in advance, they´ll let you access the two new power sets on the live servers a couple of months before GR goes live. Now, I may very well be wrong on that. But just throwing it out there, into the sea of speculation. Because it seemed that way in the Herocon vids. *goes to check again*
Edit: Yup. "Two new powersets in Going Rogue." 05:50 in the vid here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SItM3OLqb5w
Ergo, Dual Pistols are Demon Summoning are GR powersets, as I thought from when that vid came out. -
Quote:Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning are NOT a part of I17 - they´re an exclusive feature of GR - so when I17 goes live everyone will NOT have access to DP and DS.The statement from Avatea that was being questioned is this: Now... yes, everyone is getting access to dual pistols before Going Rogue. It's being released as part of I17. That's not in question.
If you buy GR in advance, you get access to one of its features in advance on the live servers as a perk - it´s as simple as that. -
Quote:You're easily disheartenedStill no redname post as to why lvl 20 or what will replace the first 50 reward.
I find this disheartening.
Level 20 seems to be the key level in GR - the "epic new storyline" is 1-20, and the ability to switch sides will likely start at 20 as well - it also leaves the way open for future Praetorian EATs to be unlocked once you complete the 1-20 content.
The replacement reward for 50 is most likely the whole new endgame system that is a big part of GR. -
-
Quote:So, let's see - they've already "spun off" DP into its own separate mini-patch, and started a closed beta for it, almost half a year before GR goes live, and the people invited to the DP beta test are the people most likely to pre-order GR anyway - it ain't gonna be early access on Test as the perkIf you want to turn this into an e-peen contest of who has more cash... I have plenty of cash. I made the offer, I'll stick to it. All I ask if you give me opportunity to transfer a character to another server to give it to you if you do - by some bizarre quirk of fate and probability - happen to be right.

Knowing is half the battleQuote:more to the point - when someone says, "I would like clarification from a red name," they really don't give a crap what Golden Girl thinks.
-
-
Quote:And I think you're not prepared to risk 100 million on a lost causeI was trying to be less confrontational.
But... I'll stick with my million. You want my bet, you'll have it.
I think the "opportunity to have access" refers to another way to get beta access. If it provides access to those powersets to the live servers early.. you'll have your million.
I think you're wrong.
Seriously, it's just not logical to offer a second closed beta - like the incentive to pre-order is to be able to level a DP avatar to 50 on Test and then do it all over again when GR goes live?
It just doesn't make any sense - in-game perks that don't work on the live servers aren't realy perks. -
-
Ok, then - they mean that the two new power sets will be avilable on the live servers a couple of months before GR goes live.
-
Quote:It's balanced out by people migrating in the other direction
NCSoft should extend this offer until after x2 xp / reactivation weekend. Hate to see returning players come back to even lower populated servers now that many people have migrated to Freedom and Virtue.
