Quote:The devs at Hero Con hinted at hero Con that while it might not be alwasy on a Tuesday, there is some sweet incestuous loving going onAgain with this whole "Cole is screwing his Grand-daughter" thing ! It says she " has been serving him loyally, in all capacities", that doesn't mean they make sweet incestuous love every Tuesday it just means she's completely loyal to him. That'd be like me telling people how some guy served me for a period of time and everyone jumping to the conclusion that we screwed. Maybe if it had said "she services him in every way" it would be more legitimate evidence of some grandpa on granddaughter action.

Quote:An exception to the ruleAlpha Upsilon 24-2 disagrees. You found this tattered diary beneath a pile of bones. It reads:
'I, the mighty Golden Girl, have triumphed, but victory is not as sweet as I imagined. In my zeal to conquer this feeble world, I have instead demolished it. The people I would have ruled? Dead, though not entirely gone. They linger in these lands as foul, angry spirits. They hope eventually to find a way to destroy me, but I am not concerned. I am Golden Girl! I need fear no one, for my power is truly beyond all limits.'

Yes and no - Ms. Liberty and Dominatrix both found out that they were more similar than they thought, but Ms. Liberty decided to send Dominatrix home - although she was unsure if that was totally the right thing to do or not.

Quote:Through no fault of theirs - when they made the pre-purchase offer, they didn't know that a retailer was going to come to them later on and ask for some exclusive items to go with their promotion of the game.So you agree the information given at the time was incorrect/incomplete.
You're welcome - even amongst the hopelessness, the desolation and the despair of a soul-destroying tragedy like this pre-order offer, I'd like to think that there's still a place for a little humor to lighten the terrible darkness.Quote:Thanks for making light of it /sacrasm -
Well, so far, the CoH pre-order items and the CoV pre-order items have been added to the game as vet rewards - so I think the chances of the GR pre-order items going the same way are really pretty high.

Quote:That was a side effect brought on by the writers probably not getting out quite as often as they shouldKitsune, I am not saying you are wrong, but are you serious? They kidnapped her to watch her pole dance? :baffle:

The real reason was that Statesman wanted to get her to change her evil ways, and to help get her to be more normal, several of the female heroes took her out clubbing - with mixed results

Quote:I must have missed the bit where these 5 minor enhancements exclude anyone without them from joining a team or using any chat channels.People don't want to be left out in such a social game ether.
You've had several months of special alreadyQuote:We feel cheated because not once the game comes out we don't seem to be getting anything special for it from that point.

Quote:A limited round of trade sanctions, probably - a full scale inter-dimensional invasion is over-reacting a little bitExtradimensional invaders kidnapped his grand daughter, took her to a nightclub and watched her pole dance.
I must admit I'm not sure what an appropriate response to that would be.

Quote:Tyrant 2.0 was chosen as Emperor, but Tyrant 1.0 conquered the world, according to his current bio.If I understand correctly, Tyrant did not actually conquer the world; he became leader by general proclamation.
Can anyone really be happy if they can't be free to even think?Quote:The questions that come to my mind are: at what point does government become tyranny (in the moral sense) and is tyranny ever justifiable? Should Emperor Cole be ousted even if the cost is the lives of all of the innocent civilians he governs over? Is slavery a fate worse than death in this case, even if the 'slaves' are currently happy?
A slippery slope indeed.

Quote:Well, as Paragon Studios weren't even aware of this deal when the first GR prepurchase offer was made, that would have been hardWould of been nice to know this before the earlier deal.

Rose colored glasses were an exclusive item as part of the super secret pre-prepurchase for GR - I'd lend you my pair, but unfortunately, they're a bound item.Quote:Dont understand the rose coloured glasses from the people supporting this a a fair, open deal. -
Quote:Not only does it not matter to me, it doesn't matter to any other player either - if they can't remove an item from the avatar that received it without deleting the item, then it's bound to that avatar - it's a bound itemNo, the function that the game uses definitely matters. It might not matter TO YOU, but it definitely matters to the game.
-
Quote:It's the end result that matters, not the coding - if a player can only use an item on the avatar that received it, then it's a bound item, regardless of the type of code used to tied it to the avatar.Bind on Pickup is a specific programming function/mechanic/whatever. Castle has said this game does not have BoP.
Restricting trade/sold/etc. mimics BoP, but is not the same. The end result looks the same, but the code is very different. (WoW also has untradeable/unsellable/etc. items: but they are not bound on pickup.) -
Quote:Which is exactly the same thingI doubt these are actually bind on pickup, and more like using the same code that Tickets and Merits do. Untradeable, unmarketable, unsellable.

Any item that you receive that can't be sold, traded or otherwise removed from an avatar without deleting the item is a bound item. -

Quote:And conquer the entire world? The psycho boyfriend alarm should really be starting to sound in Dominatrix's head nowWell, didn't Ms Liberty and crew invade Praetoria and kidnap Dominatrix in the comic books? Let me rephrase that in human terms. Extra dimensional invaders crossed into his world and stole his grand daughter.
If they can do that, what else might they do? Who might get hurt because of their meddling? He can't let it go unanswered. It's too risky. The last time he took that chance, people died. This time it could be someone close to him. He HAS to act.
-
Quote:So he's going to invade Primal Earth just in case?(Why do I do this to myself)
I don't think Tyrant "wants" to rule the world either. He just feels like he "has" to. He backed off once and things got really bad. Now he'll never let go of control again. He can't, he's convinced the consequences would be worse than anything he could do.

It sounds - and looks - like the presentation was almost identical to the PAX East one - although, the info on the Ghouls being the result of experiments is new.

By the way, for anyone weeping and trembling over this as a possible hint at how the Incarnate system will work, Positron said at PAX East that part of the Incarnate system was about unlocking cool stuff for you and your alts - which sounds like it will have some account-wide phat lewt, not just avatar-only phat lewt.

Quote:I think they probably just have directives/orders from above, which would work like laws, but they wouldn't actually be written down. There are governors and marshals, but are there actual laws on the books and a legal system (maybe this should be directed to Ask a Dev/Canon Fodder...or Venture, who may know even more, hee hee) per se?
Or is it more of a Medieval system where there are go-to people to whom you can complain ("If you have been assaulted by a super powered being, hang up and dial 911..."), but its' totally their call whether they deal with it themselves or kick it upstairs, with no official list of precedents being kept and the like?
If you want to bulldoze an orphanage and put in a toxic waste factory, do you just bribe the Governor and send out the Constructicons without so much as sending along lollipops and bleacher seats for the kids?
As Arachnos Commander pointed out to me in game, the streets of the Rogue Islands are fairly safe compared to Paragon City...you don't see purse snatchers on every corner. But that doesn't mean there is an actual law against purse snatching.
Like if he controls most of the media there, he can make sure that any new directives are spread to everyone, and his minions would be told to enforce the new rules. -
