    Oh god, Puffy.....

He was a reknowned griefer on Virtue too. Used to pull jackass stunts and then come back on the boards blaming it on his girlfriend's little sister.

Or go out of his way to annoy RPers and then petition them for harassment when they got angry and yelled at him.

Yeah, that guy needed a swift kick in the yarbles.

On the topic of the thread. I haven't been posting on the Gen Boards long, but my favorite was the guy a few weeks ago who was going to quit the game because the forum pages loaded too slowly. Seriously..what the [censored] kind of lame [censored] troll attempt was that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh yeah, I was there for his "Gemini Park BBQ" event. His characters name was Soil.
  2. Puffy's original claim to fame was when he offered $1000 for someone to give up the name he wanted when the game launched.

We tangled when he posted about having having 6 bars of debt AFTER leveling. I pointed out that based on my understanding of game mechanics such a thing was clearly not possible. We debated it for a bit.

He said he could prove it and once we explained to him how to take a screenshot he posted a picture showing 3 bars of debt as "proof" because he had already worked off the rest of the debt.

After saying that his proof was useless and that I could use similar logic to prove vampires exist by showing a picture of a bright sunny day he proclaimed that we were all horrible people and he was never going to post on the forums ever again (In Puffyland never proved to be about 2 or 3 days)

Does anyone have a saved copy of the "Big Bad List of NPCs, Objects, and Actions"? Because the site it was originally on (Might have been CityofVillans.com) is, of course, unavailable now.

I should have the CityofVillans site back up in some form by this weekend.
  4. Ahh.... Puffy. I was just thinking about him the other day. He is the only person I've every really gotten into an "arguement" with here on the CoH boards.

Does anyone remember PainfullDeath? He managed to get the forums taken offline and all beta accounts deactivated as part of the recovery.
  5. Ok, I just got an e-mail from Omnicrola and apparently the WoW monster grabbed him and ran away.

He did say that I could get all the data and I'll get it back online as quickly as I can.
  6. Yeah, Omnicrola hasn't posted anything here since back in November. I've e-mailed him asking if the resources from cityofvillans are available to put up on another site.

If so, I'll add them in with the Heroes Hideaway revamp I'm working on.
  7. Now that I think about it, I remember all the ranting and screaming that went on when they originally REMOVED the ACC debuff from SS.
  8. I've said it before, I'll say it again:

    Learn New Tactics

If the changing of a single power that your character has makes him "unplayable" then he/she was a flawed build to begin with.

Every time a power has been changed like this and the boards are with boards are filled with people shouting about the game being ruined (Caltrops, Smoke Grenade are two that come to mind), it's usually taken me about 30 minutes to adjust my playstyle and move on.

Just as in evolution, those that can adapt will thrive. Those that cannot will whine, cancel accounts and die.
  9. You know, there is a place for all of you in my army of Mutant Kitten Overseers*.

I could promise you high ranking positions in the command structure. I may need those with experience when I decide to smite some pesky bunnies down for being a bit too uppity.
  10. Looks right ...

    Looks left ...

Tosses a giant catnip soaked yarn ball into the thread and runs ...
  11. Hey Zloth, are you going to update the demo launcher to account for the new /demodumptga command since /demodump defaults to .jpg now?

    EDIT

Just read back a few posts and saw you bring it up
  12. I've got lot's of drive space and never worry about compression until I'm ready for a final product to distribute. I tend not to think about it when working with raw files during editing.

The missing steps were an oversight on my part resulting from my editing habits..

I dont have Premiere. Is there any freeware software that will allow me to string demodump TGA into an animated gif or mpg of somekind?

Or is it more effective just ot use moviemaker and record the demo while its playing. Thanks.

Funny you should ask, because I just found out how to make WMV files using the game's own demodump, Irfanview, and Window's Movie Maker 2. All free!!

Just do the -demodump at 640x480 rez and a fixed 8 frames per second. This will create a boatload of .TGA screenshots. Now fire up Irfanview and select the batch processing under the File menu to convert all those TGA files to BMP format. (They come out about the same size.)

Now bring up Movie Maker 2. Look under the Tools/Options... menu and select the advanced tab. Turn the picture duration down to 0.125 and click OK. Click the Import Pictures link on the left side, go to where your BMP files are, highlight one, and press control-A to select all the files in the directory and open them. Now just drag all those pictures down to the bottom area and click "Save to my computer" in the left area. Crank crank crank crank.... POOF! Semi-instant movie!

I haven't seen a way to get MM2 to go higher than 640x480 or show pictures for less than 1/8th of a second but, for outright free, I think this does pretty good!

Grab VirtualDub, it's free and can render the raw .tga's to AVI. It's a very useful program.

Open VirtuaDub and select File > Open Video File

Navigate to the directory with your .tga's. Make sure that in the bottom left corner of the file select dialogue "Automatically load linked segments" is checked and then select the first .tga in the sequence and open.

press F7 and chose where to save the finished AVI and you are done.
  14. If you aren't already subscribed to the CoH Video's mailing list, click the link in my sig and join. There is some work being done by some of the members to editing the demo's and collaboration in parsing out the npc and fx variables.

There are some scripts that were just submitted to help in the process.
