Theres a issue with the MA too, if you enter a mission with it it says, "You can not enter" or "your already on a mission" or some nonsense like that, yet you still can enter.

Well after finally getting it downloaded (started this morning) I was finally able to make that costume that was requested in a PM eariler, now my battery is dead and its time to sleep so no play time for me. However figuring out a faster way to push the downloads (perhaps for high speed connections a background download process while you play? ahlah SWG)

Just to [censored] a little, living in Australia, I've been downloading that 90 megabyte patch since 11pm last night for me. It's 2 PM now... so... 15 hours?
60% done!

My point exactly, This would definately benifit the people that have a long distance to transfer this information, using a torrent system would end up with faster speeds because they would also be connected to local peers instead of a server half-way across the world. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah mine, done at the peak of today's prime time, only took about ... 15 minutes to download and apply.
Remember that *many* people are downloading it as well. It IS a little slow - but then, I don't have a clue what "gunz the duel" is, but I strongly suspect it doesn't take nearly as much information as this game does, to run.
Coming from NC, I can be positive that the downloads are secure, accurate, and not virus-ridden.
[/ QUOTE ]
GunZ the duel, I wont get into, However Bittorrent files if the torrent came from NCSoft and the original data came from NCSoft there is no way you would end up with a file with a virus or corruption or anything like that because bittorrent itself works off file hashes and if even 1 byte of data is changed or moved about, the hash fails and that piece is thrown out and another one is located to take the place of the piece that failed the hash check.
Hash Function Info -
90 Kb/s
Thats not to slow, and thats about what it caps out on any connection, either wired or wireless on high-end broadband networks or my Phone-as-modem. -
I know I'm not the first to say it's too slow, however...
GunZ the Duel uses a HTTP Get and BitTorrent protocols to deliver its patches and updates to increase speed and bandwidth. perhaps if something like that was implemented into the CoH/V updater we wouldn't be waiting a hour or so on each patch because we would have our HTTP backup if pieces were missing and Bittorrent to speed up the process being able to download using the worlds bandwidth instead of just NCSoft's making the download speed virtually unlimited.
This would definately cause a increase in download speed on updates and get people back into the game alot faster too. -
@forbin - Hush. *smacks with a newspaper* Bad troll! Bad!
@Yuri - I use Snipe cause it fills in the recharge time between attacks and is actually pretty decent damage against most objects.
I got a Rad/Ken that can smash through a bank vault with its snipe and everything else in its arsenal (only being level 12 its limited) but can still do decent damage. As for the Teleport suppression affecting attacks, that is also a bug probally not intended as the description text only states it suppresses the ability to teleport and naught else. -
Seeing how theres no other place to put it.
When doing the bank chaos mission and you get killed and arrested, trying to use ANY kind of sniper shot (so far) doesn't work. It fails completely and utterly. Now I think this might be because of the Teleportation suppression debuff thats doing this and it makes it near impossible to break out if I cant use my most powerful attack on the door.
And as for the first time getting jailed, usually I can walk up to the door, blast it a few times and walk through it without destroying it. If I'm captured a second time though, I HAVE to blast through it and it takes ages because I cant pull out my big guns on the door.
Personally I think as well that solid "inorganic" objects (crates, cars, doors) Shouldn't have the ability to "evade" or "dodge" attacks that you fire against them. I've seen this a couple times in bank missions and the chaos missions where I miss a car by a mile when I shoot at it.
Personally I think it would be impossible to look at a car, be completely untrained on how to shoot a firearm and still miss it after pointing the barrel at it and pulling the trigger.
All in all, the chaos missions and destructible objects need looked into at the very least. -

Ok, like me you may have the need to do a complete wipe of your system (some naughty new bug on your system that none of your anti-virus software can defeat for some reason perhaps?)
and don't feel like downloading the entire 2.8 Gigs of game files (for the people who don't have the DVD set)
1) Back-up ALL files in your c:\program files\City of Heroes folder to a removable media. (External hard drive, flash/jump drive, DVD-ROM) External media like the hard drive or flash drive is recomended due to possible data corruption (like I had to deal with trying to burn the files)
2) Wipe the system (probably the easiest thing you will do)
3) After re-install of your OS grab the media you saved your folder on but don't pop it in yet, grab the CoH/V Install file from here at NCSoft and run it
4) after the "install" completes and it runs the updater once, cancel out of the updater closing it completely
5) pop in your backup and copy EVERYTHING inside the COH folder on it, into the COH folder on your hard drive.
6) run the updater again which will do a CRC check on all the files. Once the files have been validated if any of them didn't pass the test they will end up being re-downloaded. If all your files are fine, skip to step 8.
7) while downloading, depending on your connection, flip on the TV, read a book or lurk in the CoH forums for stuff to learn about the game or write a tutorial on how to do something o.O
8) Load up CoH/V and beat up some bad/good guys! -

They are programmed to run away after X amount of time of not landing a hit on their opponent. There are probably other triggers too.

This part seems patently unfair to me. Defense-heavy characters have to chase their opponents while Resist-heavy ones don't? I call shenanigans on this one...

I swear I'm gonna pistol-whip the next guy who says shenanigans...

5. Copy the original installation over the new installation
[/ QUOTE ]Installing a full version and then immediately overwriting the installation is quite a messy way to do it. The updater file itself can easily install the registry properly, which is all you need. Besides.. not everybody has a "hard copy" disc installation.
[ QUOTE ]
This way you'll keep your screenshots and your demorecords.
[/ QUOTE ] If they are in your CoH folder, and you copy the folder, you'd keep them anyway.
For the experts who are comfortable changing their registry:
You can export your CoH section to a *.reg file and then import it onto the new OS registry. That will transfer over your client graphics preferences as well. Providing you put the files into the same directory you had before, you shouldn't have to make any manual edits.

It worked, sorta. Explorer was throwing fits (not Iexplore... the actual filesystem browser) and locking up as I was trying to burn the game files to a DVD... Apparently about 807MB's got corrupted. all the sound and music files... why couldn't it of been smaller files that got hammered mid-burn?
Meh, guess I should consider myself lucky any of it burned at all. lol. But its downloading the other files, the ones that did burn checksummed properly so theres no issues with that. but 807MB is alot better than a 2.8GB download on a phone-as-modem connection through sprint anyday. lol -
well the thing is too they were doing it at the Villan base. You would figure the guns and turrets and such would be sufficent enough to make the level 50s pay attention to them but no, they barely leave a scratch on them so they can go right on feeding. I think its kind of stupid to allow that to continue.
-
Unfortunately there comes that time when you have to wipe EVERYTHING on your computer... *cries* And I have the entire CoH program downloaded... (over phone as modem... that was a trial and a half...)
and I really, REALLY don't feel like going through all that again just to get this game. So I'm trying to figure out where the stored files are that are used in the updater and where the online setup stores those files so I can burn them to a DVD, reinstall windows, create the folder that the files should sit in and then just dump them from the DVD into there to get it to install properly (should work no?)
So does anybody know where it stashes these files? (vista home premium x86 system) -
The first thing I see in Bloody Bay on the Pinnacle server poppin my head out the Villian base was,

With them using a awaken the very moment they died , so die/up/die/up/die/up all of the ones dying on the villian side seem to be feeders.
Is this even legal in PvP? -
thanks, I got bored, found a list of CoH/V emotes and went nuts.
