  1. Just a note to all members of Venu Sovereignty. Thanks to Vakaur for creating our new website. If you're a member or would like to be please visit our site at venusovereignty.guildportal.com
  2. Venu Sovereignty is hosting a Cathedral of Pain trial this Monday 10-11-10 at 9:00 pm est. Please sign up here if you would like to join us. Level 50s only. Please bring your best toons. We need sonic, cold and bubblers (2 per team i.e. 1 cold and 1 sonic, 2 bubblers, etc...) mostly, but all ATs are welcome if we have room. We will enter through RWZ to take advantage of the close hospital, insp collectors and HVAC vendor. Please have shivans and HVAC before we go. I will be leading the trial as Dark Flea (lvl 50 dark/kin corr). Operative Dresden will be leading team 2. Drone Blade will be leading team 3.

P.S. I want to thank everyone that attended our last CoP trial on Tuesday for a successful run.

    Tip missions

Does anyone else get aggravated that tip missions in some cases send you all over to different zones? Here's an example: why do some level 50 villain tip missions send you to Port Oakes? Not only is it a zone that is far below level 50 but you can't even street sweep in PO for more tips once you're done with the mission because it's below level 20. I end up dismissing every single one of these and my morality still ends up guess where, Port Oakes!! One of the main reasons I prefer villain side over hero is because there's not as much running around between missions. This is very annoying to me and I'm wondering if it bothers everyone else as much as it does me.
  4. I've always loved the names that you guys come up with for freakshow named bosses. It's one of those little things that make the game more enjoyable. I got a chuckle just now when I fought Bash Fission. Whoever comes up with these names, you have a great sense of humor. Thank you, and keep them coming. Here's some other great ones I've come across in the past: t3h S00p4rFr34k!, B4nKbUsTah, Dap-Dap tha Deal-maka', Punkadelic, T33CH@H'Z, T3h PwNxx0rz, t3h R1k70-Fr34k, etc...

We all get burned out, and it's been 2 years since I've wanted to team at all.
This option would definitely hold my interest more, and hopefully the Incarante system will continue along that course as well (if soloable).
It's up to you how you spend your 15 bucks a month but I can't fathom why people play an mmo if they don't like teamplay. I rarely solo. The only time I do is when I can complete a task quicker by myself (i.e. flashbacks and tips) so that I have the time to run something like an SF/TF with my friends.

I just thought it was kind of an oxymoron to say perma-temp. How can something be both permanent and temporary? I guess you don't get my humor. That's ok most people don't.

    Let me in

LoL, looking at the thread title, I came in here expecting to see people whining about the servers still being down nearly two hours past the estimated time. Instead I find a discussion about vamp soaps. I guess it's refreshing in a sense. At least we have something else to talk about.
  8. With the advent of villain and hero merits, supply now outweighs demand on many sets. You still have your LoTG and Numina procs, but for the most part prices have been going down on the market.

Shows you how much I care about it. I'm just going by what I heard in the rumor mill. I guess I got the wrong (or out of date) info.

The devs are a bit busy this year, understandably, with GR, I19 and 20 in the pipe. Can I ask now for something new next year? (Actually, what I'd like is the chance to get a perma-temp costume power of the ones collected... that, I'd work for.)
    Perma-temp?
  11. Hmmm, i19 announcement mentions new tip missions. This announcement mentions a "new" Halloween themed tip mission. That other super hero mmo comes out next month. Could it be that i19 will come at the same time as the Halloween event? I would love it to be sooner but the coinky dinks leave me thinking...
  12. Don't use them until you're level 50. They will be much more profitable if you decide to sell what you get. I don't necessarily agree with what the other posters have said about converting them though. I personally think you're better off rolling them. That will bring in a steady income. I understand the thinking because it takes soooooo many villain or hero merits to buy the really expensive stuff. You could use the hero or villain merits for 5 random rolls but it costs 20 million to convert the merits so IMO it's a waste unless you save them for a specific recipe. If you're a rogue or vigilante it's a moot point because you can't use them.
  13. My vote is for Jessica Alba. I know she's already played a couple of super chicks before but she looks soooooo good in tights.

    Pricing oddity

I noticed before the market merger that the proc you're alluding to was going for much higher on blueside than they were on red. I could sell a level 10 for about 20 million on blue but they were worthless on redside. Level 20s were about the same on both sides but the recipes were much more pricey.

The cathedral of pain is already an insurmountable, nearly impossible task to complete and now you're going to take away the only equalizer that we had at our disposal? Why even turn it back on if there's no possible way to complete the task?
    THIS IS A HORRIBLE DECISION!!!!!!

I switched out Soul Mastery for Mu Mastery because it's better for AoE, and Darkest Night would only be used for the -damage because of the softcapped defense. I Picked up Build Up for better burst damage and dropped Breath of Fire because FSC, Combustion, Elec Fences, Ball Lightning, and SC will be more than enough. I didn't slot the panacea proc because it really isn't that good, would just be a huge waste of inf IMO.

Ignore the slots and power levels because I just quickly threw this together.

    Shield/Fire

I went back to the drawing board again. I tried to incorporate some of what I saw in each of the builds that you guys posted. What do you think? I'm pretty stuck on getting as many AoEs as possible and the way that I have health slotted. I also want to get as much recharge as possible without sacrificing something more important. How am I on defense? I know that I'm way over on the regen cap. I don't know what to do about that.

The main thing I don't like about this build is you didn't take any epic pool. The main reason I took soul mastery was to get the other 2 AoEs.

Slotting the sets helps quite a bit on end reduction.
The main reasons I didn't go for your build were I didn't like the way you slotted health, and I want this guy to be primarily def/res and AoEs (that's why I took soul mastery). TT will help keep them from running away and DN/DO are 2 more AoEs. I almost always play on teams and I figure that the AoEs will help me keep aggro off of my teammates. On all of my toons I slot the 3 procs into health. I've gotten used to doing it that way and I'm not looking to change. I'd be willing to add the regenerative tissue proc if there's room. You also didn't take incinerate, which has high DoT. That perplexed me. I'm not concerned with going cheap either. I'm pretty good at playing the market.

I dont know what you are going for with the build, I am really baffled by it. As long as you enjoy it though...

You are not soft capped, but you could be. You went after bonuses that have decreased effect. You added KB protection even though you already have it.
I'm no expert that's why I come to you guys for advice. Maybe you can suggest something better that isn't radically different from what I was going for. The bonuses I was going for were in end reduction/modification/recovery (this toon is an end hog with just common IOs), recharge, accuracy, defense, and damage. I honestly don't know what the softcap is for defense but I was under the impression that I was at or close to it by following the build that Paragon posted as closely as I could. I noticed that both he and I forgot to slot resistance into deflection and thought that I would add that. I put the kb protection in because I thought I didn't have enough. Is active defense all I need? When I do start slotting this guy with sets I plan to go after the problems with end first and then worry about defense, etc.

I think once i19 comes out I'll go for cj and hasten. I wanted them on this build but I didn't want to give anything else up.

    Shield/Fire

This is what I decided to go with. It's based mostly on Paragon's build but I slotted in a couple of kb protection procs which I was lacking and I also tried to take my powers in a better order. I also slotted some resistance into Deflection.

I'm confused by the popularity of kinetic combat over mako's bite. 22.94% damage vs. 26.5%? Sure you get some smashing/lethal and melee def if you 4 slot kc, but mako's gives you a 3% damage buff to all your attacks. Is is just because of the extra defense? Won't the fact that you can kill stuff slightly faster negate that?

In my opinion, it would be a better choice than the small regen/recharge boost you lose, but might not be necessary with Darkest Night. I also swapped out a few other IO choices (namely in LotG and AAO), but those are just personal preferences. If I have more time, I may do a complete rebuild; I don't like not having Taunt at 10 and AAO at 28 seems really late, but that would be for MY toon.

Thanks, I really didn't worry about the order because I knew I'd have to rework it I was more concerned with the powers and slots. I was thinking about skipping taunt and slotting 1 or 2 taunts in the powers that would take them. That's why I took that one so late.

    Shield/Fire

I'm about to start slotting this guy in a few days and I want to get his build ready. I worked up a build that I think will be good but I wanted to get some feedback before I respec him. Right now, he is 45 and I have him slotted only with common IOs. I went for recovery because in his present form he's an end hog. I know I'm over on the accuracy and regen caps. I would like to keep the set bonuses after those caps on the powers that I went over with though (unless someone suggests something better). Maybe you guys can suggest something similar to what I worked up but improved? Also, I took the damage procs wherever possible because I read somewhere that using them will increase my damage output because of the different types. I went for as many AoE's and as much defense and resistance as I could. I'm considering dropping either DN or DO for the widow pet but both of them are AoE's and I don't know if I want a pet on this toon unless I'm better off with one? Also, in his present form I put a taunt IO in every power that would take one just to help keep aggro off my teammates. I kind of like that approach and I'm thinking about frankenslotting a couple in there but I would have to adjust the build again for that as well. I also tried to go for and much recharge as possible too. I'm also not sure that I put the purples where they would be most effective...
