Are you still getting the sync bug?
There *was* additional work done to resolve this issue (in addition to giving players the ability to use the "/sync" command.)
We are monitoring the forums and in-game petitions to see whether the issue has been resolved or improved.
EDIT Addition: If you have experienced the sync issue, I would really appreciate it if you could file a Tech Support ticket to see if your information turns up something. -
I stand corrected.
I checked with our Engineering team to make sure that this is accurate. I didn't want to state something and then have to correct myself again.
1) If a player logs in during the two free character slot "gift" window, then those slots are placed in player's character slot inventories. Character Slots within your inventories can never be removed, even after the gift window closes.
2) If a player NEVER logs in during the character slot "gift" window, the window closes, then any new or re-activated player will never get the two free slots.
Please note that the free two slots are only being given to "active" accounts that Log into the game during this gift window. If your account is active, but you've never logged in, you're not getting your two free slots when the window closes.
3) Once a character slot (via Veteran Reward, free gift or purchased slot) is placed within a Player's Inventory, then the order in which they redeemed is irrelevant.
When we decide to end the two free character slot window, we will give advance notice. -

[/ QUOTE ]Completely incorrect. I have friends who are still sitting on (all of) their freebies, meaning the i12 slots plus whatever vet slots they have. You were only AWARDED THEM temporarily, but you will have ACCESS to them FOREVER. They function just like purchased or vet reward slots. In two years, if CoX is still here and if you hadn't added a slot anywhere, you would still have your i12 freebies.

Actually, the two free slots that were launched with the Character Slot service / Issue 12 *will* end at some point in the future.
If you have not claimed or assigned those slots to a server, then after the window closes, you won't get those two free slots.
This was noted in the Issue 12 Release Notes.
We have not yet announced when the window for claiming the two free character slots will end, but we will give advance notice prior to ending it. -

I just logged in (23-jun-08 @ 2:20 PDT) and found that every extra slot on both accounts that was available last night is now gone. I logged out and back in but there was no change.
Edit: Just logged back in and noticed that while I still don't have the extra slots I should, I also don't have the icon to open the store to buy more. Again, this is on two different accounts.

I just wanted to let you all know that we've been monitoring this thread and have also received your in-game petitions (Thank you!).
As an fyi, none of your purchased slots are gone. The Server that handled the slot inventories tied to your account and all Transaction services (Rename, Transfer, Character Slot purchases) experienced an Outage earlier today.
When this occurred, players were unable to Rename their Characters, Transfer their Characters, Purchase Character slots or Redeem "banked" unassigned character slots.
The service has since been restored (as many of you have noticed because the Rename/Transfer buttons are visible), and we're going to continue monitoring the server's performance throughout the day and evening.
Regarding the interupption on June 17th, some backend services were undergoing maintenance after the 17.20080604.1T patch was published to the Live servers, so Transaction services weren't brought back online until after public access had been granted to players.
In the future, we'll try to make sure that proper notification is in place if Services may not be immediately available after a normal Maintenance or Patch publish.
These transaction systems were architected so that even if the Transfer, Rename, and Character Slot purchase systems went down for maintenances, troubleshooting or crashes, that they didn't also bring down access to the servers for players to continue playing.
Our focus is to always ensure public access to the game. Services such as Global Chat, Auction and Transaction services can be brought offline, while gameplay access can be restored and maintained.

We're resetting the "rename available" option. Your current Global Handle will remain the same as it is now.
For Example:
1) Your Global Handle is "Bob"
2) Before May 30th, you rename yourself "BobSmith".
3) On Friday, May 30th, the Global Rename setting is reset, and you are given another Global Rename option.
4) Your Global is still "BobSmith", and you can now change your Global Handle back to "Bob" (if it's available) or change it to something more exciting...like "Super Bob". -

During peak hours, you may experience problems. If the transaction doesn't go through, I would recommend that you try again or make an attempt during non-peak (i.e. morning) hours.
I was just able to complete a transaction at 9:37PM PST (after about 5-6 tries). And I'm not using any special privileged connection to make that transaction.
We're monitoring it, and working to resolve it. I don't have an ETA for a long-term fix, but we've been nudging a couple of cogs in the background. The good news is that other players have been able to complete transactions as well.

Have you tried purchasing slots recently? I purchased a 5 slot pack this morning with no problems.
We made a backend configuration last Friday (5/23) that should have improved your ability to purchase slots, transfer and rename characters. -

Yes. We upgraded our server hardware as part of our re-investment plan for City of Heroes/Villains, but the fact of the matter is that we've actually hit a new capacity threshhold.
To be clear....There are more players on Freedom now than have ever played on that server. Ever. -

Players will not get kicked off the server while we make this adjustment. However, if you log off, you may not be able to log back into the server (i.e. it will appear grayed out on the Server Selection screen).
This was done to ensure that performance was optimal for all players on the server. -
