Very nice. I love the lighting and colors.

Love the expression on Cookie, absolutely great!
Seriously, it's that "the floor under you is about to open up and dump you into my Rancor pit" look. I love it. -

But....what's up with that left (her right) eye? It looks like there isn't any color in it.... I noticed it in the smaller scan but thought it might just be something that would become apparent upon closer viewing...but....it still looks a little weird to me
[/ QUOTE ]
It looks to me like a little piece of something was on his scanner bed - caught my eye, as well.
But apart from that, it's a great looking painting, your detail work is awesome and as has been said you do great things with watercolors. -
Cute freckles, great fabric textures. Looks very nice, I can't wait to see it done.
I'm not sure that I agree with Graver on the placement of the center ridge of the sword, though. If it was a flat 2D shape, that line would be off-center, yes - but a sword isn't. I just pictured it as being tilted slightly downward from straight-on towards the viewer, the way the angle of the hilt suggests, with the line being pushed down a little bit to show the sword is sorta diamond-shaped when viewed from the front. -
The amount of detail you put into your pencil work is just incredible. Very, very cool.

It seems a bit tougher to navigate than the old site, but it certainly does look nice. The little flash animation of the picture being inked and colored in the corner is neat.
Also, it has free art contests! So that instantly makes the new site better.
Like others have said, I'm really looking forward to seeing what you and Graver can come up with together. -
I actually think I like the third one best, it's a very dramatic pose.
Besides, TA already has more than plenty of pictures of himself waving that stick around. -

My opinion?
Better performance outside of Domination.
More damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Been done, didnt change anything. Need more? Do you significanly contribute to teams if you use red inspirations, but dont when you dont use them? Its the same thing as a damage boost for the AT. My answer is, I dont see a 5% or 10% damage boost doing anything for us in teams, and making soloing a little easier, which is more than easy enough for me already.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but I'm crazy. I want Blaster base damage for melee and range, not a piddly little 5% boost. If Dominators can (in theory, not factoring in debuffs and buffs and such) outdamage Corruptors, then PuGs can say - 'we need more damage, let's grab a Dominator'. THAT would make an impact on the teaming situation. Would it be a big one? I dunno.

More HP.
[/ QUOTE ]
Makes you better on a team how, exactly? I have an accolade that gives me a 10% boost. Its made no difference. I have seen posts from others with a 15% or more boost, makes no difference (per their post). Unless we have a boost to allow us to take the alpha, I dont see this changing any complaints at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I rather agree with this, I just put it up because it's something other people frequently ask for. Personally, I don't see increased HP doing much either, unless as you said it's a very big boost.

Controller mez duration.
[/ QUOTE ]
We already have much better durations and mags than a corruptor, but still have claims that corrutors have ENOUGH control and so are better than doms. Well, same arguement here. Doms have more than enough control. Adding a little more will make the AOE holds a little better when unslotted, and the rest will be unnoticable (IMO).
[/ QUOTE ]
That one was mostly for PvP - especially since Power Boost (did I mention Controllers seem to get better numbers out of Power Boost, too?) works off base mez duration and two of the five Dominator secondaries get it. I think it'd give a Dominator a better chance of killing a mezzed foe before the mez wears off, and let them stack through mez protection outside of Domination easier.
[ QUOTE ]
I do think the AOE holds recharge is too long, as its up for one or two times/mission, and should be up more than that (IMO), considering that if you slot it three recharge, the duration would be pitiful.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not quite so pronounced with Power Boost, but yeah. Mainly I rely on Terrify for AoE control on teams as Total Domination and Mass Confusion are rarely up when I need them.
The problem is how to change the times on AoE controls without (further) overpowering Controllers.

Better numbers from the Leadership pool.
[/ QUOTE ]
Give us the best numbers, and still assault, tactics and manuvers are pitiful. This is like the same control as controllers, its more an irritation from trying to see why the devs did it, than really getting anything out of it.
[/ QUOTE ]
A +19% damage boost is pitiful? Have you ever been on a team where everyone is running Assault? It's quite noticable. Plus, a lot of the LRSF strategies now seem to rely on Vengance, so better numbers with that certainly couldn't hurt.

Better PPPs. I think it's already too late on this one, but it still needs to be said. Specifically, I'd like to see Dominators get access to the broadly useful Controller APP powers like Hibernate, Earth's Embrace, and Indomitable Will, as well as see Build Up in one or more of the pool. As is, they get very few utility powers in the 40+ game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agree with this for the most part. I like water spout, and I like the armor I have, but its not as good as some possible power combos (IW would have been nice, heals, etc). Still, I have liked the Mako PPP more than I thought I would.
[/ QUOTE ]
My Corruptor is quite fond of Power Sink, and I think it'll be even better with Power Boost on my Dominator. But still. -
[ QUOTE ]
Not trying to blaim Doms problems on Corruptors, but the simple fact is that Corruptors as a whole bring far to much to the table. What can you reasonably give Dominators to compete with the level of damage, support and mitigation a corruptor provides?

I dunno. Defenders can do the same thing Corruptors can, as they have the same stacking of buffs and debuffs. In fact, they can do it better, because they get better numbers from their powers than Corruptors do, and with 8 people buffing and debuffing base damage becomes largely immaterial. Do you think Defenders are overpowered? Do they make it worthless to play any other hero AT? -
[ QUOTE ]
Heres my issue with your statment
[ QUOTE ]
I can't think of a single situation in the game where a dominator is a better choice for a teammate than a corruptor
[/ QUOTE ]You can take out "dominator" in the statment and replace it with ANY VILLIAN AT and the statment would still ring true.
[/ QUOTE ]
You could say that, but you'd be wrong. Masterminds can absorb alpha, which Corruptors - debuffs or not - simply can't do against some of the harder minion types. Pets don't get debt and using them as damage sponges is one of the only ways fragile Villain ATs can survive fighting against some of the harder AVs in the game. They also do buff and debuff, if not quite at the levels Corruptors can, well enough to be valuable to a team, especially if they're using a set like Trick Arrow or Poison that Corruptors don't get access to. Brutes, with their astronomical damage cap and high caps for HP and res, are actually a great addition to a Corruptor team. They can make better use of Forge and Fulcrum Shift than another Corruptor would be able to, with buffs they can tank in a pinch, and once they get the Fury bar going they can output consistently more DPS than a Corruptor can. When I'm making an LRSF team, I am happy to add MMs and Brutes.
A Dominator, or a Stalker? Nah, not if I want to win.
Basically, it seems like you're trying to blame the problems that Dominators have on Corruptors. If that's the case, where's the "Do brutes suck like people say they do?" and "Do masterminds suck like people say they do?" threads? -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Psionic Assault can easily hit the recharge debuff cap. Psychic Shockwave alone can easily hit the cap.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry; I overstated my case here. I don't actually know that Shockwave can hit the recharge cap on its own, and it probably can't. My apologies for adding more misinformation to the heap.
[/ QUOTE ]
The other thing is, I think you're badly overestimating how effective -recharge is for damage mitigation. It's nearly useless against +4 Heroes that can one-shot any of your party members. Dominators don't bring any real damage mitigation - +HP, +Def, +Res, -Dmg, or -Acc powers - that are the only things currently allowing people to successfully complete the LRSF. Hence, as it is now, another Corruptor is ALWAYS better than adding a Dominator to your LRSF team. -
Looks great, I've always been a fan of that piece too.
...and not just for the obvious reasons, the Tsoo are really well drawn. And the obvious. -
[ QUOTE ]
I tend to get invited to a lot of teams, which are from people I teamed with in the past. This makes me pretty certain that they percieve some decent level of benefit to my presence.
[/ QUOTE ]
When I first started playing this game, I made an Invul/SS Tanker, like I'm sure a lot of people do. The thing is, at level 26, I still hadn't taken Temporary Invulnerability ("Isn't something that's always on - RPD - better than something that's temporary?" I thought.) and even worse I hadn't taken Unyielding. So I spent most of a mission mezzed, or dead, and really didn't know any better. Eventually I was straightened out, but my point is that for some reason I do not understand to this day I got server-friended by a LOT of people and almost always had an invite waiting for me when I logged on. Maybe they figured because I typed with spelling AND punctuation and had a color-coordinated costume I had to be a girl IRL, who knows.
Long rambling story aside, that's not something you can use to judge how effective you are, really. People will friend and invite for their own reasons often far removed from how well a character actually plays. -

I always loved that pencil of Donna Matrix. Was hoping we would see a color some time soon.

Yeah, that picture is awesome. Not sure that I agree on color, though - the pencil work is so nice and clean that I can't help but think inking and coloring would make it lose... something. -

Gonna have to echo the questions people have asked above. Were you five levels higher than him or something? Because that is so far from a normal situation that I would say it's not possible unless you're exaggerating or something was really off with that team. -
[ QUOTE ]
I have said this before, one powerset can render an entire AT, I wish I could say the same about having a /thermal, /poison or /sonic available as often as emps are to render Controllers useless offensively.
[/ QUOTE ]
The funny thing is, the only Clear Mind analogue on villain side (Clarity from the /Sonic Corruptor set) won't render a Controller useless the way it would for a Dominator because - you guessed it - they have a buff/debuff secondary. -
Octave Blue 7-4, my ex-Malta Merc/TA Mastermind.

Many and most Doms are desirible on teams... I have never once heard a complaint about Doms. "In-Game" Only on the boards do I hear such things. As far as being on par, well thats an opinion that have to disagree with. I feel just fine with what my dom can do on teams and solo...If you happen to feel as though your dominator is ineffective outside of Domination, well you have every right too, but there is little reason to feel that way unless its simply based on what you've experienced with another AT.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would not ever tell another player "You suck, we don't want you." I'm just not like that. However, if they're slowing us down, I'll notice it. I won't tell THEM that, since it's not their fault for rolling a Dominator, but I'll bring what I've seen to the boards and talk about it there where it's a balance discussion and not a personal attack. -

Looking back at a few pages, when did everyone start agreeing that Dominators are crappy outside of Domination? It's stil not true folks.

Lemme guess, Plant/ Dom?
[/ QUOTE ]
I play 3 doms regularly plant/thorns, ice/fire, and grav/energy: not one is "crappy outside of domination".
[/ QUOTE ]
The only time when I think a Dom is "crappy outside of Domination" is in a multiple AV fight (Recluse Strike Force) or against a good team with mez buffs in PvP.
I still think Dom damage and/or End usage outside of Domination needs to be addressed, but I would hardly call Doms 'crappy' because of it. People are blowing this way outta proportion IMHO.
[/ QUOTE ]
Solo, I can fight, but it takes me a full run-through of my chain (Dominate, Bone Smasher, Total Focus, Power Bolt, Power Blast) to kill an even-level Longbow minion. It's safe, but slow.
On a small team, my heavy control is overkill for the number of mobs we face, and my low damage slows the team down compared to if they'd taken, say, a Brute or Corruptor instead.
On a larger team, my AoE controls don't recharge fast enough to keep entire spawns locked down, and like it's been said, if your team can get by a spawn without you, they don't need you at all.
Solo zone PvP, I'm free rep. I don't like it, but it's what ends up happening. I lack the damage to kill another player in a reasonable amount of time, and there's a worrysome number of things on hero side that can two-shot me.
Team zone PvP, I can do all right. People tend to carry a finite amount of Break Frees, and once you burn through that, you can start to see a real effect from a Dominator in the zone. Still an easy kill, though, and a single Empath entering the zone will pretty much shut you down.
Solo and team arena is the same problems as zone, only much worse because the maps are only 10 minutes long so Break Frees are a bigger issue, and because teams tend to be more balanced and work together better than in zones.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Dominator. The sheer insanity of taking a low damage/low HP character into melee range - and surviving - is incredibly fun, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching Total Focus go off. I just don't have any illusions about how much I contribute to a team. -

Lemme guess, Plant/ Dom? -
[ QUOTE ]
Contribution to large team is indeed the problem.
First, let's set aside seeds of confusion and Plant domination.
Now, CoV is a fast paced game. The ATs make short change of mobs because of the general high damage output.
Because of that, groups will go from fight to fight very quickly.
And because of that, it is impossible for a dominator to have reliable AoE crowd control every fight. Except plant. Earth could, but there is no earth doms.
Since the recharge of AoE holds is so slow, and that doms can't control every fight, well, that means that the teams must be able to handle a non-controlled mob. And if teh team can handle a non-controlled mob, well, err... they don't need you.
What of single holds and soft control?
You don't need a dom for that either. Many other ATs have single holds. Ice or Dark corruptors. Mastermind pets. Even brutes and stackers can stun opponents. Same for soft control. Is it normal that a /dark brute with oppressive gloom offers a more reliable control then a dom? Or a /dark MM with Fearsome Stare? How about Siren's Call from Sonic primary?
As a dominator, there are many situations where my teamates just plain outdid me when it came to controlling mobs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow. As much as I hate the trend of people saying "QFT" without contributing anything else to the discussion, this is pretty much the root of the problems the Dominator AT has in PvE. (It gets a little messier in PvP, but I won't get into that.)
QFT.
