Quote:Interesting. I'm subbed, and neither of those are terribly important to me. I only have two incarnates and the second one sat over two months before I did any iStuff with him after Alpha unlock. And the VIP-free costumes generally aren't useful for my concepts. I'm mostly subscribed for the character slots, AT unlocks, Time/Dark, and IOs.
It is more cost effective to be a Premium player than a VIP for character slots, AT unlocks, Time/Dark and IO's based on the Paragon Points system. You can have all that under $15.00 dollars sub over three months compared to 3 months of sub free of $15.00.
And no I don't consider the Invention license a sub fee, but a micro transaction fee. -
Quote:Since we are tossing out our opinions. The only people I know that are subbed as VIP do so because:If they gave IOs away there would be no reason for lots of people to sub.
.
1. Incarnate Content
2. Free costumes
Other than that there is no reason to stay subbed.
Quote:If both builds are IO builds then you had both too much time and too much patience before you left. I can only presume that it was due to burnout from farming for 3-4 billion to finance 2 IO builds on one character.
1. It doesn't take much time to make 2 IO builds and it doesn't indicate someone is a hardcore gamer.
2. You don't need to burn a lot of influence to make most IO builds.
3. I do not have 2 IO builds on my main. My primary is a non IO build, and my secondary is an IO build. -
Quote:I don't need to use a monthly license because an AR/Sonic Corruptor doesn't see much benefit from the IO system (my main). I have always had an SO/HO/SHO build, because it was more powerful in certain aspects than my second IO build.Pay for the monthly license and you can play. Which is much cheaper than $15 a month.
I do agree that a good compromise would be to drop everything to SO level with no set bonuses until you do pay--either resubbing or getting the license, if you want to go month to month.
Paying the monthly license is too steep for returning players that simply want to play. -
Quote:If we are to use such rudimentary logic:Which is better:
Can't use IOs for free.
-or-
Can't play at all.
I fail to see the logic that says having to pay $15 a month to log into the game at all was a better arrangement than having to pay $10 for having your characters the way they were before for 5 months.
$10 is less than $75.......isn't it?
If all that is required for you to enjoy the game again is having your IOs, it will now cost you $24 a year to play the game.
As opposed to the $180 it would cost you prior to Freedom.
I really don't see a basis for complaint here.
P2P no sub fee = Can't play
F2P/Freemium = Both IO builds are greyed out obviously can't play either. -
Quote:IO's will have to given away if they plan on putting in place instant snipes. IO builds can be more powerful than SO builds, but this is the first time where the power will function differently because of that difference. Instant snipe is very binary in that you either meet the tohit requirement or you don't. Most SO builds will never be able to reach instant snipe unless in highly situational team settings with certain pairings/compositions.IOs should NOT be given away. Full stop.
However, i would not mind if they are reduced to SO level and set bonuses removed.
VIP system is about Incarnate content. Tying it to IO system was, and still is a mistake, because the IO system genesis was based on having to nerf the game across the board to make room for IO's. -
Quote:If you can't play the way your character used to play you lose attachment of that character, and you lose the appeal of playing again.I somewhat agree with the OP - I felt (and argued during the Freedom feedback threads) that there should be a one-time per-character IO unlock for 400-800 points that would allow someone who was coming back to play a character or two that didn't want to have to keep up a subscription to spend a small amount to permanently be able to use IOs on that character.
When you come back you're already losing a lot of alts, so why should you have to subscribe to get the ones you selected to keep? Because an IO license is a subscription, it's just a lower-cost one that doesn't get you nearly as much and once you start getting IOs by using the subscription they shut off if you ever let it lapse until you're tier 8, so you're almost locked into it.
I still feel that way, despite my account currently having access to IOs whether I'm paying for it or not. It's also one of the reasons that I was unable to convince a friend who had left the game to come back and even try it as a premium - she didn't want to have to rebuild her favorite characters after finally getting the IOs the way she wanted them. There's a sentimentality from returning players about their characters that is being ignored in the hucksterism of "just pay ($5-$15) every month and you can play the way you remember!" attitude.
If you can't even play at all (both IO builds are greyed out) that is even worse. -
-
Respecs need to be more readily available because a returning player that doesn't have an SO build can't play.
It's as simple as that. -
On my AR/Sonic Corruptor I don't always use hasten on the SO build, because the crash, and the end usage is too much. I only use Hasten when I need to use it.
Hasten I think is useful even with the crash, but those saying that Hasten is a must have may be looking at the point of view of it without the end crash.
Hasten with enough recharge to avoid the crash is good, but not the norm.
Now as for Stealth and Invisibility...
I would prefer Invisibility to become the combat stealth and stealth replaced with another power. -
Any power pool changes at this point are a positive (with the exception of a nerf to Hasten lol) and increases replay value of a lot of alts.
-
I have been fairly satisfied with the content that has been delivered ever since Freedom launched. Other than Issue 23...zzzzzzzzz...I think Issue 24 and 25 will really take the game to another level IMO.
-
Ever since Freedom has launched they have a lost a lot of initial momentum. Issue 24 and 25 really need to be at least doubles, or maybe one of them to be a home run to keep player interest.

Quote:Sniper Rifle is one of my most favorite powers in the game. I have been awaiting this revamp a long, long time to make Snipes part of the game flow again. Here's my take on this: When I hear about changes to an AT coming down the line, I immediately put all characters of that AT on hold and pause any changes to their builds that I may be making until I see what the changes bring. The idea behind this practice is I want to see what's coming to see if I can't make a change I suspect I might be able to in order to take advantage of them. Once the changes come and I realise that the advantage I was trying to build for isn't workable for my character, I proceed with these changes in a whole other direction, or may indeed abandon or reroll the character entirely.
To me, this is a situation where a person hears "something"s happening with Snipes and prepares to build for whatever change is coming that makes them worth keeping. Seeing that the change is unreachable for this character's build, this person decides to finally give up on Snipes altogether and stop trying to make them work.
I would be tempted to do the same if I heard Mastermind personal attacks were getting improved in I24, only to realise that they improve, say, only when you're on a team of four or more. Not only will this make the change completely worthless for me, but it might make me go out of my way to take Mastermind personal attacks out of all my Masterminds because... Well, anyone who's played a Mastermind knows this - Mastermind personal attacks are garbage and not worth the power picks and slots they require to own. The only reason I keep them is because it's very BORING to do nothing as a Mastermind but hit binds, and because I secretly hope that they may one day be worth using again. If the only change I'm ever likely to see to them in my lifetime is worthless, that just tells me to stop trying and drop the powers entirely.
In short: Don't underestimate how people's hopes of a terrible power being improved can turn into disappointment powerful enough to go to great lengths to get rid of the power and stop trying to make it work.
But, this will require a lot of testing for various reasons. Sniper Rifle makes the biggest impact to AR single target DPS with these proposed changes. How do you avoid not taking advantage of an instant snipe? That is like trying to avoid using Ignite against a hard single target?
Then there are obstacles of facing off against -tohit enemies, and how most players with SO's will not really see the benefit of instant snipe frequently enough.
Basically, this is the first proposed power change where the difference between SO players and IO players will be huge based on how a power works.
How do you balance that?
And as I already mentioned will Assault Rifle be nerfed (AoE) for its new found Single target DPS? AR is already near the top as a master of cones and AoE, but throw in the instant Snipe and its single target damage shoots to the top. Throw in that I already see how much more potent Ignite is for AR Corruptor (my main) and it is easy to see this change will propel AR Corruptors to the very top.
Yes my main gains the most from these changes, but I rather see a balanced game, more specifically this boost aimed more at blasters. -
IF AR ends up having the best single target chain, due the instant snipe, it raises a lot of concerns.
1. I will be focusing on a more AoE build once I24 hits. I will switch out the Snipe for another
AoE attack (Grenade Launcher). At the end of the day AoE> Single target on teams IMVHO. The Snipe is interesting for Corruptors for many reasons (eg Scourge) but still not convincing enough.
But the instant Snipe change may force the devs to lower AR's AoE potential to balance out its new found single target DPS even if you don't take the Snipe and reach 23% tohit.
2. Using IO's you can easily reach 23% tohit. For the SO players you need to go above and beyond to make it happen.
I don't think this system is friendly to new players that don't understand tohit mechanics or don't have access to IO's.
What I do like about this change is that a yellow inspiration can change how you play, but this may be too much if it turns out to be better than a red inspiration haha. -
No, I will be respecing out of the snipe once I24 hits. It is only one power to change, while to reach the mythical 23% tohit I would have to change 3-4 powers and slotting across the board.
Not worth the effort and on teams an instant Snipe isn't that important *cough* AoE. -
One thing for sure..I will be respecing out of the snipe once Issue 24 hits. Not worth the effort to change an entire build for a mythical 23% tohit.

Snipes being re-worked?
ooooooohhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. -
-
If the devs are vigilant and ban Rkelly impersonators I think this set will be fine.
It looks like a gorgeous set by the way. And I second the motion with the right tint you can make it look like lava. -
I hope this is a known issue and not a feature.
-
Sweep combo is only applying to one target now. Please investigate thanks.

City, and they are not being fought over by the criminal elements? Hmm?
