There is a way round the ED issue during/for the holding phase, but it requires a great deal of organisation and co-operation by those attending. Plus the window of opportunity is greatly shortened meaning timing is of the essence when deploying Vanguards. But with ED, it does mean that holds can be stacked much much faster.
The major problem with a raid is the numbers. Even a battery of blasters would struggle as the lag appears to effect usage of powers rather than movement, they would also be fairly vunerable if mitos aggro was not contained. -

Yeah i do seem to notice the hero base is never under seige its always the vills, but the hero base is so well protected
i dont think they would dare enter

Errr, The Rogue Destroyers have planted themselves on the Heroes beach twice, mainly to get the heroes to come out and fight. But if you want Villians to enter your Heroes base? Give us a bit of time and it will be the Heroes with their backs to the Rez Pads. -
Nah, I just had a problem with you going wildly off topic. Always easier to debate stuff 'on topic'.

I was also working under the assumption that part of the reason this thread popped into existence was to rant at ppl who didn't think they should be jumped up repeatedly the moment they stepped off the boat.

Now I'm not being perdantic here, but I honestly don't understand what you are saying. Does 'jumped up' mean jumped upon within the zone itself? Or 'jumped up' as reacting badly or being annoyed with an incident?
Not quite sure why you think I have a problem, and my former points still stand. If you need to cool off then fine, I'll walk away. No point in making this issue personal to either of us, I was merely pointing out that it was your view that was being imposed upon others because of the context you view villians Vs heroes and hence how you view other (or particular) 'hero' players.
I'll say Ta Ta anyways, we'll wait and see how long the PvP zones remain populated. If the populations are still large in a few months time then its been a success (and hats off to Cryptic & crew). If they aren't, you've proved your point. -
[quote This was not a general reply, but one aimed at a specific person who called himself a gamer, which from my point of view DID suggest he knew more about gaming than I did. Well, my experience begins in 1981 and if you count the Atari console and PONG then *maybe* 1979. Whether I know more or less than any given person, I wouldn't dare comment, but I do have some idea what I'm talking about.
In between computer games I did a lot of role playing and that it a factor in my opinion as I don't see CoH as a 3rd person shooter, but as a role playing game - one that centres on Good versus Evil. That's what CoH was SUPPOSED to be all about and I'm suggesting that Warburg bucks that ideal as it's hero versus hero and it's because of that I don't and probably won't spend much time in there. But I think I've said everything I needed to - the other PvP zones I can't comment on as I need to do a full respec before I begin to give them a go.
But just for posterity...
Atari console
Sinclair ZX81
Commodore Vic20
Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k
Commodore Amiga 500
Pentium 60
Pentium2 233
Pentium3 500
Pentium4 3.05

Oh jeez, you completely missed my point. Who *cares* what gaming/machine experience you've had and what *difference* does it make to the topic as a whole. Also, you lagging behind somewhat compared to me, but I'm sure even you have failed to include in your list BBC micros and Arcimedies (damn u TG with your difficult to spell Greek words...).
Again, all you have proved in your post is that you are subjecting YOUR VERSION of Good Vs Evil and having a jolly good rant at everyone else who doesn't conform to your view on heroes/comics/imagination. This impacts on how you personally see PvP within CoH/CoV. I can't spell it out any clearer.. -

I would put very good money on me being a gamer FAR longer the most people on these boards. ZX81 anyone? And I know two things; City of Heroes was supposed to be about HEROES doing heroic stuff, not jumping out of dark corners at each other to nick their scientist or whatever. It was a game of heroics, which has nothing to do with role playing and everything to do with the big writing on the box.
The second thing I know is that everyone on here who says "yeah, I kill everything that moves" will eventually be the only type of player in Warburg - I know I'll start giving it a wide berth. The place generally annoys me - and that's fine as it should cut down on the complaining on the text window.
But I wonder, some time in the coming weeks, if we'll start seeing ppl complain about how there's never anyone in Warburg anymore
Just food for thought.

Good old work, always prevents me from posting...
Point taken about the zones becoming less populated but as we have seen with Bloody Bay, the population has increased. We just need to wait and see what happens with Warburg. You should too, time always overrules assumptions.
Again, you sound like you are giving your version of 'Good Vs Evil', as for the ZX81, bah ZX80 for me. Vextrek (spelling incorrect I know), Atari console when I lived in a Boarding house and ppl had to que up for their turn, had a Spectrum 48K there as well (track and field, woot!). I've played a lot of games on a lot of different machines as have prob quite a number of ppl on these boards already, so I fail to understand the point you are attempting to makeAre you saying you know more than most here about games? Thats arrogance talking considering I bet you hardly know the majority of ppl on these boards on a personal basis and therefore have no knowledge of what games/machines experience everybody else has had.

I hate to say this, but your Role-playing and expecting others in the game to follow suit with your version of 'good Vs evil'. Some of us are gamers, who love the mechanics of the game rather than any kind of comic based enthusiast. Sure I like comics but its not a hobby of mine, more of a passing interest.
That said, even in comics, there are situations where the good guys go bad, or team with the bad guys to beat up some other bad/good guys for whatever reason yadadada. I'm not invalidating anything your saying but comics are based on imagination, every imagination has its own interpretation and thus a few thousand different imaginations running around on all 4 servers. My imagination just happens to incorporate Swedish girls
Another point is that Warburg is fulla heroes at the moment. They rule there. They can only fight each other there (Arena being a seperate thing altogether). Till the Villians get up to that level and are able to enter the zone, things will stay more or less the same. Also higher level players will *want* a pure PvP zone because it opens up the field for SGs to battle each other regardless of being hero or villian. If you want a Hero Vs Villian area, then go to Bloody Bay coz theres lotsa fun to be had there atm.
