Now that I think about it, the only ones I can absolutely remember seeing a "So Long and thanks for all the fish!" from was Lighthouse and Niviene. Still, BABs was a pretty big guy on these forums. You would think a "Later All!" would have been appropriate.

  3. Pretty good article overall, kinda dry, but these types normally are. Still, gave some interesting background information.

On a side note, does anyone have any idea why BackAlleyBrawler hasn't posted anything in almost six months?
  4. Let me first start off by saying that these 15 costume pieces are AMAZING. I drool every time I look at the magic auras myself. The capes are very beautifully done and the auras are even better. The quality and workmanship that went into these definitely appears to be top notch, though I am reserving final decisions for how these things look on actual toons, not the Dev perfected ones.

With that being said I am more than a little disappointed to see a 15 Costume Piece Booster Pack going for the same price as the Super Booster Packs were sold for. The same price and yet not even a single costume set in there? No minor power or effect of some sort? Not even any emotes to round things out? (Not that an emote would really make me feel any better. Just don't use them.)

I could easily afford this pack but, all in all, I do not feel this pack is worth the money. If they dropped the price to $7.99 I would be all over it, but at $9.99 I don't think I will be buying it without some serious drunk typing involved. (Not likely, I don't ever get that drunk.) Two dollars may not seem like much, but it just beats my "price point" for this Pack.

I know a bunch of people will buy this and I hope you like it. I do have to say though, I read at least two different posts from people that said they will never use these pieces but are going to buy them anyways. THAT makes no sense to me and there is no way anyone will ever be able to explain that kind of action. Sorry, but I just don't buy things I don't want or won't use.

To close this out, a big/happy/heartfelt Thank you to the people who put the work into actually making these costume pieces. But to Marketing - not at the price you set.

Actually, both are personal. One for financial reasons and the other for opinion reasons. Both are also valid to the people with the issues. For you to dismiss someone's feelings about this Pack is just as inappropriate as it would be for other people to dismiss yours.

But on the real, dawg...you're talking about a group of players who think building a prestige bonfire out of tens of billions of inf is just silly fun.

    So, uh, keep on vending?
Ah yes, our resident "I bought the Party Pack just to spite all the people who were upset over it" comes out with another limp post. Doesn't even surprise me that you would post something like this anymore. I got your number a long time ago.

Now this I don't disagree with. It never made sense to me to have them going on all year either. Your last post had me a little confused though. It seemed to say you only wanted the Halloween Events to be on Halloween.

I believe the person in question is wanting the spookies to happen exclusively during [the] Halloween [event] rather than all year around, to concentrate interest in doing them, much like having the winter activities only happen during the winter event keeps interest in them higher.
I wasn't complaining, I was explaining. Very different.

As for what the person was stating, why not let them clarify it? Reading what they said, leads me to believe that they meant Halloween only, not the Halloween Event. At least that is how I interpret "I'd like to see the Halloween events be EXCLUSIVE to Halloween". If they did mean it differently, then fine. I will wait for THEM to clarify though.

Which would make it so very few of there customers can actually play the event. I don't know about you, but I will be out handing out candy with one of my children for a good portion of the night and the other child will be walking around, under parental chaperon, getting candy from the neighbors. That effectively cuts out every single person in my family from being able to play this game for about a four hour block. Add to that different church "Fall Festival Events" going on earlier in the day, and church before that. Pretty much the whole day lost to gaming.

I'm not saying every player will have this problem, but enough of them will that it would be annoying and create a lot of negative feedback besides.

Haaaa, I actually have a toon that would benefit from that power. Dual Swords/Willpower tank with a Jester outfit. My little attempt at making a "Carnival of Shadows" costume. But just one thing, wouldn't that be an alternate animation for ninja run?

I have two SG's that I run, one has two storage bins dedicated to large inspirations only and the other has three bins. I seem to earn them faster than I can use them. Which is fine for when I really do need them, but not much use anytime else. I also don't sell them on the market. Everything I do sell on the market gets sold cheap, but I have a strong feeling that it is mostly marketeers buying and I don't want them profiting too much, so I either give away the large inspirations to new players or sell them to a vender. So in the end while I would not complain if they did add them back in to the Halloween Event, I won't complain if they leave them out either.

I don't mind them no longer dropping the inspirs. The way I look at it, the only important rewards for ToTing was the costumes, costume salvage, and the badges. For me anything else was just more garbage to manage while I was getting the rest. Still, I do see your point I guess.

There is a scene in the trailer that is part of the "other" TF we are ALSO getting the SAME issue for FREE, and you are still upset because it wasn't in a trailer for its own TF? ... really? I personally don't see what the problem is. Think of it as a "Counterpart sneak peak" if it's THAT important. I mean, how was ANY of that a "criticism"? It seemed, if anything, like a trollish nitpick.

Ohnoz! This trailer for the game that I play has scenes from another Task Force that I am also getting for free ... but the title said I was only going to see ONE of these said Task Forces! I am SO angry right now!! Grrrr! *punches wall*

    ...
If you go back to the beginning of my posts about this, I think you will find there is very little emotion involved. I did not like the falsehood and said it, then clarified why to another poster. I am not sorry though that being lied to pisses me off. It's a part of life I deal with. Then in stepped GG who, as usual, exaggerated most of the things being said to make it sound like I was being unreasonable. Honestly, I do not understand how wanting to NOT be lied to is unreasonable. If, however, it doesn't bother you (the proverbial you, not you directly) then good for you I guess.
  14. I was wondering that myself. I kind of expected to hear something by now. Must be Issue 19 and 20 are occupying a lot of their time.
  15. GG, your logic completely escapes me. I'm not going to bother responding any further other than to say one thing. It appears you simply can not handle anyone criticizing this game in any way. I feel sorry for you.

Nope, no paranoia, I just don't like being lied to. Funny, but most people have a problem with that. Nice personal attack though, I will give you that.

Just like the shot of Tyrant talking to his troops, which isn't even in the game at all?
You mean you would prefer the standard TF opening? A window with a lot of written storyline? Would have looked real good at the opening of the trailer, don't you think? I pretty much figured that was a gimmick to cover up one of the shortcomings of this game.

And here's the GR launch trailer again:

Just look at how many "lies" are in that - things that don't appear anywhere in the agme at all - and none of them seemed to cause the same squealing fake-rage as the shot of the Praetorian portal in the Apex TF trailer.
Last I knew I was talking about the Apex Task Force Trailer. If you want to discuss other things then start a different thread and I'll be happy too.

OK, you want my answer as to why they would lie? Let me put my telepathy hat on so I can read their minds . . . hold on . . . getting something . . . almost there . . . nope, just a headache.

Seriously, you actually expect me to know what they were thinking? That is just foolish GG. I can't even begin to know why you are defending a lie, let alone why they lied. Let me restate my problem - that clip is not in the TF, it is in another TF, that makes it a lie. I think most people will agree that the beginning cut scene is not an outright lie, more of a salesmanship stretch. To be honest GG, you do yourself no favors by just pointing out more things that could be considered lies.

There is ONE possible explanation I can think of, it is advertising on their website and that particular part of the clip does look AWESOME. I have often even seen trailers made by Paragon Studios in reviews and such on other websites, so further advertising there. I can't say that is why they did it though since I neither work there, nor can I read minds.

And you still haven't said why they'd try tricking anyone either - or what purposed it'd have.
They did? Where? At the M&G? At the NYCC Panel? Not even close to good enough. I am sorry, but I and tens of thousands of others could NOT make it to those. I can't even find it on YouTube and normally I can find things pretty well there (would love a link if anyone has found it). Even if I could though, this is supposedly the OFFICIAL website for the game. The info here should be clear, concise, and ACCURATE. I expect a little salesmanship inflation, I do not expect dishonesty.

As for why they did it? I have no idea why people make bad decisions. Happens all the time though.

Oh and we just lost another possible convert to this game. I was showing it off to him the other day when this trailer came out. He wanted to see it and said it looked awesome. Then he wanted to see the forum chatter on it (at which point I cringed because I had not looked at it yet). The one post pointing out that dishonesty dissuaded him from joining. It seems the last two MMO's he played did the same kind of crap and he didn't like it. He also didn't like how people couldn't have simple disagreements in the forums without all the rage, but that is a different subject all together and I won't go into it here.

Sorry GG, reposting this since they both fit together so well.

Was the Trailer called "The Apex and Tin Mage Task Forces"? No. It was shown to us as "The Apex Task Force". Never a mention of Tin Mage anywhere in there. The fact that both TF's are in the new Issue is irrelevant. They made an "advertising" mistake here. Liking one part of one TF and putting it in the trailer for the other TF because you think it looks so good is dishonest.

I have met several myself that do not have GR yet. To be hionest it really surprises me when people say they haven't bought it yet. Most of them are waiting to see what is coming next though before they make the purchase.

I just hate when I get shown something only to find out that is not what I am going to get. Think car commercials. They show this awesome vehicle with tons of extras for only $19K, only to have a disclaimer at the end telling you the price is not for the vehicle they showed you. It's dishonest.

Now if they had said something alone the lines of "Check out these clips from the new Task Forces in Issue 19" and showed that video, then I would be fine with it.
  21. Wait a minute! That trailer was supposed to be about the Apex TF and it has scenes from the Tin Mage TF in it? That is LAME. Bordering on false advertisement too. I hate when people do crap like this.

I am totally excited over Issue 19 coming out, but I could easily wait a couple extra days if it meant the Halloween event would last a couple more days. I have to agree with Bad_Influence though, I highly doubt they are skimping on the Halloween Event in order to get Issue 19 out any earlier. I think it would be a safe bet to say mid-November to Mid-December for Issue 19, especially since DCUO has been pushed back so much. No rush for Issue 19 now.

Good point GG, but I am not so sure. Isn't the Mender Arc all about teaching us why we are not like Statesman/Tyrant and Lord Recluse, even though we will be Incarnates too? It could very well be that Tyrant wants his henchman to be Incarnates in order to consolidate his power.

At this point what we do not know about Issue 19 is really starting to irk me. I love surprises, but not ones I actually know something about. That kind just pisses me off.
  25. Not sure if that was a player toon or an NPC. Looked a little drab to be a players toon though. Nice looking trailer overall though.
