I don't think the OP has the right temperment to play this game.
-
Just for clarification, the OP is also frustrated because he refuses to listen to any of the advice made by the people that tried to help him.

Quote:We have people that are still paying millions of inf on base salvage, so of course there would be plenty of people willing to spend stupid amounts of inf on those enhancements if they could be traded.Honestly, I'm not worried about the dawn of an era of "soulbound" items because these bonus enhancements have a legitimate reason to be untradeable: you get them when creating a new character.'
If they were tradeable, one could (for whatever reason) make a bunch of alts to generate a lot of them. (To be fair, even if you COULD do this, it's hardly a big deal given the general worthlessness of these special enhancements past level 20) -

Quote:Kind of hard to insult a Vet being that I'm a Disabled Vet myself. We have the right to talk trash about each other. If you ever served a day of active duty you'd know that.Enri was in the armed forces (Marines) so try again. Opps guess you just insulted a Vet on Memorial day.
Btw Happy Memorial day and thanks Enri and to all our armed forces and vets

If you're not familiar with the term Gator Navy, We are the ships that perform amphibious assaults. We drive the landing craft that takes the Marines to the beaches. Also during my "A" school training I was temporarily assigned to Las Flores, Camp Pendleton where I was attached to the Navy medical battalion. -

Quote:Don't take it too badly, I'm constantly amused that people too cowardly to sign their neg rep have the arrogance to think I care about their opinions, like the following:
"As justifiable as it is to neg rep you."
Hello, anonymous keyboard warr...wait, you're not even a keyboard warrior if you're anonymous.
I think you actually have to work at being that much of a coward, considering most or all of us here use pseudonyms but someone's too afraid to even use that.
In any even, that's for the laugh - your anonymous tears tell me I'm on the right course and reminded me to neg rep Alt.
Did he just insult our armed forces on Memorial day by implying that a "warrior" who strikes from stealth and anonymity is a coward? -
We don't have to convince the military of anything, they just follow orders. We only have to convince the politicians. Now I'll admit that since G.W. is no longer president it won't be as easy as it could have been . . .

Which is why I favor the use of nuclear warheads to be detonated far enough above the country to create a massive Electro Magnetic Pulse which will fry every civilian computer in the country and eliminate both the RMT industry and their banking financial records.

Quote:I have stated the fact, and I have seen others state the fact, that global mail circumvents the character->character email filter a large number of times since I17 went into open beta. In fact, it might even be on ParagonWiki, but I'm too lazy to look. If it's not, it should be, since it's a tidbit that a very large number of players are not aware of.
Also, telling him via PM doesn't tell the other people reading this thread (legitimate players or no) about that fact.
And honestly, I'm hoping they start using the global mail for spam. Then the devs have to realize that their filtering is subpar at best.
No offense Agge cuz I honestly have a lot of respect for you but in this case I'd prefer keeping a muzzle on the spam for as long as possible. This is one of the few instances where I think a little ignorance is bliss. -
-
Quote:1. I haven't received a single email spam since the filter went active and I turned mine on. I went from getting 20-30 a day to zero. That tells me that they aren't aware of it, because if they were I'd still be getting the spam. She has provided them with no new knowledge...these guys circumvent filters for a living you know.
2. Just because they make a living at getting around filters doesn't mean we should assume that they are already aware of the work around.
3. She could have told him via PM. -
Quote:Way to go Aggelakis. You know the RMT sites are on our forums and you just told them how they can start harassing us again. When your not too busy I have this friend named Pandora who owns a box, maybe you could stop by and help her open it.XXXXXXXXX circumvents the filter. It's only XXXXXXXXX that gets filtered. XXXXXXXXX gets through no matter what the filter's set at.

I'm sorry but I don't see this being very useful except on the rare occasion that a player has duplicate AT's on different servers. Most players I know make alts that are different from each other so overlaying an elec/energy blaster over a dark/dark scrapper is going to be pretty much useless.
-

Quote:Exactly, and "soulbound" items would have no market resale value after they were slotted making it pointless to use a respec to pull them off of a build. No, what they are upset about is that the enhancements, unlike every other enhancement, will not be tradable with other players (Hence "Soulbound"), and are worried that it's setting the precedent for it to be applied to more enhancements in the future.
Star Trek Online is currently doing this. Common/generic drops can be used or traded between players without limit but uncommon, rare, drops/craftable items can only be traded if they have never been used. Once slotted they can only be sold to an NPC store. -
Quote:I think he's saying that everything that has been given to the players that allows them to reduce the amount of crap they have to put up with and have a happier gaming experience is bad for the game.So... by that line of thought, Spam Filters gimp E-mail programs like Outlook, and the ability to disable receiving PM's means the forums are gimped.

Quote:Don't forget enhancements. You mean like with Merits, Tickets, badges, freespecs, Vet Rewards, costume unlocks, emote unlocks, buffs from hundreds of sources, souvenirs, mission temp powers, and prestige?

Someone's afraid the devs will remove the privilege of being able to pull 10 enhancements off of a build during a respec. -
-
Yeah, but they don't have to take up space. They can be emailed to a mule, they can be stored in an unused market slot (by the mule or the original character), they can be sold or if it's not worth selling they can be deleted.

Quote:And kudos on making a plausible association out of "Armature Buttress". I am amused by it perhaps more than I should be, though it has me thinking along the lines of a robotic Elec/Warmace Tanker. But if he got Flight would he be a Flying Buttress?
Thanks. I understood the point you were trying to make (that some names just don't work), but to me the name rolled nicely off the tongue and I hoped that by checking the definitions I might come up with a plausible concept to justify its use. I was very excited it worked out so nicely because I wouldn't have used it otherwise even tho I liked it. I feel if I couldn't justify the use of the name it would be like I was slapping you in the face just to be argumentative.
Happily I was able to make it work. The hardest part in creating this character was deciding which AT to use. I could have gone scrapper, tanker, or brute. As much as I think tanker would have been the most fitting heroic AT, I just don't enjoy playing tanks. So I was left with scrapper and brute. Here I felt concept wise brute fit better because fury kind of fits in with the idea of electric energy building up, but then real life stepped in and changed my mind.
I don't know if anyone remembers Saros on Virtue, but I had the good luck to be a member of the SG he was in when he still played the game back around I8. He was the player that had found the bug that let his elec/elec brute be created as a hero instead of a villain.
Anyway my first response after remembering Saros was that it might be disrespectful of the memory to make my own elec/elec brute, so I went with scrapper.
I have another character I occasionally play that has the rather unusual name
of "Tomato Can". While most people might think its stupid, those who are familiar with boxing and mixed martial arts will recognize it as an idiom for a scrub fighter that's considered an easy win and yet there have been some surprising upsets by these scrubs. The "Bayonne Bleeder" and James "Buster" Douglas come to mind. The former defeated Ali and the latter defeated Tyson.
Anyway the Tomato Can can be found sometimes fighting bad guys in his boxing outfit in Kings Row. I've had his exp turned off for a while now, because he seems to fit in, in that zone. -

Fortunately for us our devs try to avoid Cryptics mistakes.
