Quote:The term freedumb is even used by it's pvp team. Get over yourself/your server.
I also think sarcasm goes WAY over your head. Also your assumption is ignorant.
No the Munki's assumptions are spot on, it's just the way he phrased his post that seems a little confusing.
Freedom does have a lot of good players but unfortunately people remember their bad experiences more vividly. The ignorant people are the ones who have never even played on Freedom and still go out of their way to bash it based solely on stories they heard from other people.
For example, if you listened to some of the stories about Virtue you'd think you can't go 5 seconds without someone with a furry character propositioning you for erotic role playing. -
Yeah, I heard that but the pessimist in me keeps whispering "believe it when you see it.", so just to be safe I made a list of who goes first.
I got 12 characters I'm determined to move off of Virtue on my main account and another half dozen on my second. They'll be the core of new SG's on the other servers.Quote:I will be moving stuff to a few servers to clear spaces on freedom and justice for new slots. Also moving some kins from virtue to justice some how I moved all kins off Justice and wound up with 3 kins on virtue.
Freedom's going to be my retirement server where I'll transfer the crap I don't play anymore but don't want to delete. -
Quote:From the nearly 6 years I've been posting here whenever I see this suggestion brought up I've always noticed that it's very heavily sided
against turning this into City of Cars.
A handful of people would like to see this added. An overwhelming majority would not.
You listed every reason yourself, before you decided to ignore the 6 years of debate.
Why would he listen to what was said during those 6 years of debate. He has a life outside of the game/forums! We apparently don't have lives, so our opinions can easily be dismissed. -
Depending on whether or not they put a limit on how many characters can be moved, I have been prioritizing which characters I'll be moving off of Freedom and Virtue.

Quote:This experience seems to vary from player to player. I still have to /hide when I want to solo and still get PM's from people who have seen me traveling in the zone between missions. As a long time veteran, I miss the days when there were so many teams you had to /hide to solo without being pestered by them (not that I soloed often). Is there a server where those days never went away?
Even when I'm not on Virtue I can always find a team forming amongst the global channels and across the servers. Ya just gotta be willing to go where they want to play. -

Quote:I'm sorry Marcian. I saw others suggesting the same species as the dumbest and assumed it was okay if I agreed that I thought humans are the dumbest.I know! They can't even scroll down a thread to see if we already covered a joke!

Oh, and out of curiosity, what makes you think I was joking? Our track record of all we've accomplished on this planet isn't that inspiring.

Humans.
They are living proof that there is no intelligent life in the universe. -

Quote:Yes I remember that thread and I participated in it. And as I said above there's a huge difference between the devs saying "We can't merge the markets now for this reason, blah blah blah." and "No. We will never merge the markets."They most certainly did state, and emphatically so, that they didn't want to merge the markets.
Positron first stated that madness that they couldn't merge the markets because heroes had more inf than villains as if that were even remotely relevant to the issue.
Later he discussed mythical "issues" which came up that precluded them. I even saved a link there:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...52#post2741652
This
is not a statement saying they will never merge the markets.Quote:As for market problems: yes, we know what the specific problems with the markets are and yes, we have solutions to those problems in the works that does not involve having to merge the market. We did some "economic forecasts" of what a merged market would do and were not happy with the NEW problems that cropped up in that crystal ball. Our upcoming solution hopes to tackle the current problems without making new ones.
Personally I think they had the epiphany that if they allowed players to transfer inf/attachments via email all the problems their "economic forecasts" predicted went up in smoke.
Edit. NVM you acknowledged that they never said they would never merge the markets. That was the only thing I was arguing about. -
Quote:No. All it proves is that Gotham isn't in Texas. Texans would have executed the Joker years ago.Batman is the only person able to stop the Joker (Cops be gettin' nerfed in comic worlds, yo). Additionally, the insanity defense consistently finds the Laughing Lunatic virtually immune to any legal system repercussions. This binds the hands of every Law Enforcement Official in the Bat-verse

Quote:Nothing I can do to stop the devs from changing their minds except tell them I support the current naming setup. I'm not going to quit in a nerdrage if it were to happen. You don't know how many times and on how many issues people have stated something to this effect just to see the devs come around to my view.

Personally, I don't care one way or another, but you folks get so up in arms, it's highly entertaining arguing with you.
EDIT: I would suggest to anyone arguing any point on the boards, do not use the devs' CURRENT view as a point in your favor. They can and do change their minds quite often. The market merger being one of the most current and spectacular recent examples.
And to be honest I'm not worried about losing any of my characters uniqueness because even after 6 years I can count the number of times I didn't get my first choice for a name on one hand.
If in the future the devs change their minds and decide to do away with unique naming I hope they have the sense to make whatever moniker they use invisible to the players. We already have tools that let us spot different players, like the color name feature in the chat box. So if we saw this . . .
EvilGeko: Blah blah blah.
EvilGeko: Blah?
EvilGeko: Blah blah ;P.
It's obvious that they are three different players.
So there's reason we should ever see EvilGeko@thisnamelooksstupid.
Oh and I'd just like to point out that the devs never changed their minds on merging the markets. They always said it was something they would like to do but had reasons for not doing it. We just didn't agree with their reasons for delaying it.
There are very few things they have flat out said would never happen and to date they have not changed their minds on any of them.
There is a huge world of difference between the devs saying things like "We'd like to but can't right now", "It would take a lot of time and resources that we don't have right now", or "We're looking into it" and "No." -
Quote:Asked and answered previously in this thread and in every other thread dealing with the naming issue.OK, but why force the unique name. Why are you so opposed to people being able to choose conformity for themselves?
Yep. What's mine is mine, and you can't have it. I love the devs for not compromising on this issue. Deal with it.Quote:Don't you think that's rather selfish. -
A speedy response on a Thursday, when most of the players are at work, or in school. Good luck with that. I hope there is someone online who has that knowledge that can help you.

Quote:They aren't FORCED to be unique, just to have a unique name. If they want to join an organisation in game they can join a SUPERGROUP, where they can all wear the SAME UNIFORMS. And if they play enough as a group people will start calling them by their SG name just like people do to the Taxibots. You don't see people asking for Taxibot Jorge. Instead they just ask for the Taxibots.EDIT: And the "officer" thing just supports my point. Right now people don't have the ability to be the same if they want. They are FORCED to be unique. Where's the choice?
Sometimes they even sing.
Oh where, or where has the Taxibot gone . . .
Oh where, oh where can he be?
I need a teleport from one end of the zone to the other.
Oh where can the Taxibot be . . .

Quote:We live on Earth (well I do, you might live in another galaxy and just use your CoH account as a sockpuppet), but here on earth we've had four men in recent history all using the same name and right now they're ALL using the same name AT THE SAME TIME.
And the Universe is vastly larger and more heavily populated than this one tiny little planet in the outer spiral arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. Which means there are uncounted duodecillions who have never encountered more than one Green Lantern and don't know more than one even exists.
Besides Green Lantern isn't even a super hero name. It's a job title they get when they join the law enforcement agency known as the Green Lantern Corps. They get called "green lantern" just like guys that join the police get called "officer". -
Quote:I'm not sure that's consistent with the comics, certainly having the same name hasn't hurt these guys' reputation much.
That's your example?
An organization that only has 7200 members who are scattered across the known universe so far apart that most beings who are aware of their existence, only know of one.
The fact that there are a few examples where more than one Green Lantern is assigned to more dangerous sectors of space only spreads the remaining GL's further apart and makes it more likely that the remaining lifeforms will only know of one particular green Lantern -
Quote:A little off-topic further yet, but I'm confused on why we even have unique character names when everyone has a global handle to identify them.
That's how Champions works; you can choose any name you want for your character, since you just use the global handle to distinguish/whisper/invite etc people.
This game is way too alt friendly for unique names. Some people I've heard have literally hundreds of alts all consuming names.
First off, the mods just made a big deal about what is allowed to be discussed on the forums and deleted a ton of threads.
8. Compare/Contrast and Off-topic threads.
All of these forums fall under the general topic of City of Heroes. However, we do allow a wider variety of discussion topics in the Comic and Hero/Villain Culture forum and on the server forums. We encourage non disruptive off topic discussion in those forums along the line that fits with the community of posters who frequent them. Political, religious, the aesthetics of the human form (particularly that of models, actors or actresses), real world topics or any videogame (aside from City of Heroes) topics are not allowed. Also, please do not compare or contrast City of Heroes to any other game or product, as that is a violation of this rule and is not allowed.
Second if you decide to tempt fate and make compare/contrast posts at least have the courtesy to use a game that isn't a colossal failure. Pointing out a bad idea used by a bad game isn't going to win anyone over to your point of view. -
Don't use email for storage and people will minimize their losses when the feature crashes, which it has done numerous times since it was put into the game just a few months ago.

Quote:Given that we're in a thread talking about GR, and given that any influx of new players is most likely to come from the new boxes on the shelves, it didn't seem that hard to figure out.
But yes, for accuracy's sake: If you don't buy GR then you can't use GR and therefore I'm sure you can still make a hero or villain in PC or RI.
But AFAIK, once you have GR on your account, then you can only make a character in PC or RI if you already have characters. The level doesn't matter, again AFAIK, so for someone that has only the GR edition could just make a level 1 in Praetoria, log out and make whatever they wanted. But I doubt that'll be clear since the devs definitely want new players starting in Praetoria.
Speaking as someone who has misread something that was posted on more than one occasion myself
, I ask you how often do we see a post where something has been taken totally out of context from what the original poster was trying to say?
Of course there is the possibility that my recent experiences reading the STO forums have colored my perceptions on how easily people read things the wrong way.
But I do thank you for taking the time to respond in further detail. -
Quote:It doesn't matter if you knew what he meant. It's the brand new players that will be the ones that don't know what he meant. Some of them may not be interested in the GR edition but did see something they liked in one of the older editions. But after reading his inaccurate post could decide not to buy the game at all because what Judas said makes it sound like CoH is trying to run a scam on new people buying older editions.I knew what he meant, and according to what we've read, it is true.
"Brand new players" as in brand new, never made a character before... It is what they said.
Brand new player... not brand new character.
Obviously if they don't have GR they can't be forced into starting in Praetorea
And yeah... I don't like anything that forces people's hands like that.
I think a game of options, such as this is, should not withhold such an important option, no matter how much they hope to wow them with their brand new starter experience.
In short, Judas Ace was correct (Based on what we've been told, at least) and I agree with Dumpleberry. -
Quote:You go to the Market and check to see how much the base salvage you have is selling for. There are people out there collecting it just so they can say they have a complete set, and some of the items sell for millions.Ok. It's been awhile since I did any work on my SG base but I'm wondering what the deal is with the salvage. I have tons of salvage in my bins but none will make the TP pads. The recipe calls for salvage that I use to make IO's. So my ? is what do I do with all the salvage that I collected over the years? Is it useless? Lol. Thanks for the help.
Whatever is left over take to your Invention Crafting table and select convert to turn it into Brainstorms. The Brainstorms can then be converted into random IO Salvage
Random Conversion:
10 for a 'Tech Uncommon Salvage'
40 for a 'Tech Rare Salvage'
2 for a 'Tech Common Salvage'
10 for a 'Arcance Uncommon Salvage'
40 for a 'Arcane Rare Salvage'
2 for a 'Arcane Common Salvage'
1 for a 'All Common Salvage'
5 for a 'All Uncommon Salvage'
20 for a 'All Rare Salvage'
To create a teleporter you need the basic worktable/forge. The table/forge has 3 different "recipes" to choose from. Each recipe requires different salvage.
Basic Worktable (Tech version), Basic Forge (Arcane version)
Tech version:
1 Computer Virus 1 Polycarbon 1 Luck Charm
OR
1 Circuit Board 1 Steel 1 Rune
OR
1 Temporal Analyzer 1 Titanium Shard 1 Fortune
Arcane version:
1 Clockwork Winder 1 Temporal Sands 1 Simple Chemical
OR
1 Alchemical Silver 1 Symbol 1 Inert Gas
OR
1 Ruby 1 Destiny 1 Silver
Once crafted it costs 15,000 prestige to place the teleporter in your base.
