As for the North American t-shirt contest, we had many entries, and those 3 stood out from the rest. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion but I am always grateful when someone takes the time to create something just for our game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can I make a suggestion for future competitions?
Instead of having people moaning about "I wanted to enter theirs, not ours!", run identical competitions for both sides, with separate (but the same) prizes and all the legal stuff separate. That way, to the users, they look like the same competition and neither side feels left out. -

Ended almost a month ago now, but no sign of any winners being announced yet. Perhaps it's gone the way of the Creative Genius monthly contest? Wouldn't surprise me... -

Might have to knock one up myself, just for old times sake you understand.
Only have until the 20th though.

Bahhh what ya leaving again for, your only gonna have to resub, let it run, its 9 quid or whatever, shape up!
[/ QUOTE ]
Alas, my car engine seized up a few weeks ago and the credit card company now own my soul to a 4 figure amount...
It's probably just the one month, I'll no doubt find the 9 quid elsewhere soon enough, but for this billing period, I just don't have it.
Stupid car. -

I've never classed paper missions as farming, because you're not repeating the same mission ad-infinitum, unlike in the MA.

Makes me wonder though... Has anyone recreated the original Dreck mission yet?
-
All you really need to farm is to be repeating the same mission over and over...
-

I find my self agreeing with this if every one is taking the easy way to the top 100 and some one manages to get in there doing things the hard way surely there acquirement is even greater.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, it is! And well earned too! It's not easy catching up with the farmers.
Shame the OP admitted to farming the MA though...

This forum badly needs a healthy debate every once in a while, stops it getting boring!
As long as everyone stays nice, of course.

I don't really care all that much it's just that when you say that most people in top 100 you devalue everyone not just the prestige farmers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, seeing as most of the people in that list ARE prestige farmers, I'm hardly going to let devaluing their achievement bother me, am I?
And I'm not blaming the MA for it either... All the top 10/100/whatever lists in this gave have pretty much ALWAYS been dominated by the farmers or PLers. The simple action of what they do means the most prolific ones will always dominate those lists.
If people want to farm, I hope they enjoy it. But it's kinda silly to pretend that it's some kind of impressive achievement if a farmer hits a top 10/100 list IMO.
YMMV of course. -
[ QUOTE ]
Which sg's would that be?
[/ QUOTE ]
As I'm currently at work and can't exactly log in to the game atm, I couldn't tell you their names offhand. -
[ QUOTE ]
Hmmm I disagree with that, the sg I'm in has gone from nowhere to 6th over the past few months, we don't farm at all, we just try to recruit committed players who play very regularly and have fun. We achieved our high ranking by having regular sg teams and tf's. Our team of leaders are proud to be in the top 10 as we feel we've got there the right way.
Congrats Bruce on getting in the top 100.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's kinda my point though.. The people who have gotten there the "right" way, through hard work and playing the game the way it was designed to be played DO deserve to be in that list, and quite rightfully so!
But, as a lot of the groups in there didn't, I feel that it tends to devalue the whole point of the list in the first place... -
Well, congratulations on getting into the top 100, though personally I've never seen the allure of getting into a list that mostly occupied by farmers.

(Note, I'm NOT calling you farmers! Just saying... Who wants to be on a list mostly populated by those guys?
)

At this juncture then, I suspect it may be a problem with the video card... Does this happen on ANY other game? Bear in mind that, whilst an old game, CoH can push even a modern video card to its limits due to the way the engine is written and the nature of OpenGL.

it's wrapped up inside an emulator that's akin to WINE on Linux.

WINE Is Not an Emulator. >.>
[/ QUOTE ]
Technically, it IS an emulator, actually. However it goes about doing what it does, it enables software written for one operating system to run on another. -
[ QUOTE ]
Done that, several times!

Then, as you mentioned that it all worked fine before SP3, I think it's time to eliminate that as a cause and uninstall it. However, due to the nature of service packs, it MAY be that uninstalling isn't sufficient. Reinstalling Windows though, is not a suggestion I'm going to make.
Did you install ANYthing else lately? Motherboard drivers? Intel chipset updates? BIOS update? More RAM?
Hmm... There's an idea. Can you get hold of MEMTest, make a boot disc, and run your PC through it a few times? This COULD be a RAM error... -
Still no need for French and German posts in the English forums... Just adds to the clutter...
-
Thanks!

I generally find that, 9 times out of 10, it's usually faster to fix something myself rather than wait for the people who are MEANT to fix it to get around to it!
-
It really does sound like a power issue, though these symptoms could also be the result of faulty cards...
A suggestion. Get hold of DriverCleaner (the older version 1.6 is still free I think), and use it to clear out all drivers. (First do a regular uninstall, then use DriverCleaner to wipe out the remnants). Once everything is completely cleaned out and you're running on the base Windows driver, reinstall the latest drivers. Often installing over old versions can cause driver issues. -

I've experienced the same thing, although I have 6GHZ Dual Core,
[/ QUOTE ]
Just to interject to correct a common misconception. Just because you have a dual core CPU with both running at 3ghz, that does not mean you have a 6ghz CPU; it's still a 3ghz CPU. Some places claim 6ghz, especially on eBay, but it's nothing but a marketing ploy. There are no 6ghz CPU's on the market today, sorry. -

As I said, the psu is brand new and 600W.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd just like to point out that a brand new 600w PSU doesn't really mean a lot as it depends on what brand it is. A cheapo 600w PSU is quite likely to put out LESS power than a good quality 450w unit is.
It could also be down to not having plugged the right cables into your video card. Most of them these days require two PCIe power cables to be connected.
What brand is your PSU, and what else do you have in your system? -
And why do we have non-English stickies in the English section? Surely they belong in their relevant language sections?

The following page is meant to show the Veteran Rewards, but is actually bringing up a page about Buddy Code Game Trials...
http://eu.cityofheroes.com/en/commun...teran_rewards/
Please fix it. Currently, the veteran reward page is unreachable...
Note: The Veteran Rewards page on the US site works correctly. -
If that doesn't work, reset the game to safe mode from the updater, and see if that helps. You can then alter video settings in the game.
BTW.. If you can't read the menu's in game, you can get to options by pressing # O -
I've seen very similar. In fact, that's exactly what used to happen in Vista before ATI sorted their drivers out...
What video card are you using and what driver version?
