Quote:Not a flavor I care for. I'd much rather encounter another new hero and team up with them to defeat foes that are within the limits of our capabilities than be a witness to the epic awesomeness of the Big Guns handling the situation without any need of help from my hero. You do realize that the NPCs are there for flavor, to make it more epic and allow the Freedom Phalanx/Longbow/Arachnos a chance to do something in the field, and that you actually do have to fight your own Shivans during a part, right?
Just a reminder, as it seems to have been lost in the shuffle: I'm not against the new tutorial. I don't like it, not the idea of it or the execution of it, but I'm not asking for it to be removed. What I would like is the *option* for those of us who prefer the old tutorials to be able to continue to do them. Are you opposed to this? -
Quote:Did you have any trouble learning these things when you did the old tutorial for the first time?Moving, avoiding obstacles, targeting enemies, attacking, reading instructions, these are all things the new tutorial would have taught me if I'd never played before. I'm not sure what you consider game mechanics, but I think those are some of the most basic and important, and that's what the tutorial was distilled down to.

No. Your hero rescues Flower Knight and then the two of them work together to defeat the foes. Your hero is an insignificant waste of oxygen compared to BaBs and Sister Psyche.
Quote:Regardless, a little explanation why you can't be defeated (since they would actually die in this scenario) in the new tutorial would be a good thing. The hospital got destroyed, so they can't use mediporters and the giant shivan is interfering w/ regular teleportation. -

So in this new tutorial can I round up 4, 6, or 8 - or more - bad guys and attempt to defeat them all before they take me down? Because I can do that in the current ones. It's fun.
Can we do THIS in the new tutorial? -

I can only envy one whose existence is so full of peace, harmony, and tranquility that the posts in this thread equate to 'raising Hell'.

For the record: I want you guys who want the new stuff to have your new stuff - but I want the guys who want the old stuff to have the old stuff, too. There's not a thing wrong with the old stuff. It's just old. Not 'bad'. It's served us well for all these years and could continue to do so IF the devs would just be so kind as to allow it.
Why not? -

I see no reason why they couldn't make Outbreak/Breakout optional starter zones for VIPs, or perhaps purchasable via Paragon Points, or, heck, just plain optional for everyone.

Quote:This does not reflect my experience playing blasters with big nukes on a full team. I can wipe out the bulk of a spawn with a nuke, pop a blue, and get right back to contributing damage by helping take out any survivors - if there are any. By the time we get to the next spawn, I'm ready to use my other blasts. No time wasted. As things stand I contribute considerably more damage by blasting than I do by nuking, dropping all my toggles, popping a blue and blasting a few seconds until my end bottoms again. The end crash and recovery crash severely limit the utility of a nuke... it drastically cuts my damage output for 20 seconds afterward not to mention leaving me vulnerable once my toggles drop.

Quote:Once a night?Heck yes I'd take a crashless nuke. While I have the nuke on my Fire/EM blaster, and have it slotted up (Eradication) thanks to the crash I probably only use it once a night.
Back when I was leveling my first blaster - energy/energy - I used Nova every chance I got when running with my regular 8-man team, which worked out to roughly every third group, give or take. This was before IO sets. With frankenslotting - three dam/recharge, 1 dam IO and 1 recharge IO - woo hoo!
Devs, please don't screw up the nukes. -
-
Quote:Then I hope they don't do that. For me, the massive damage of a good blaster nuke is a major portion of the fun of playing a blaster. They've moved away from the Tier 9 nuke type penalties. Synapse has been thinking about maybe lessening the crash from the nukes. But if they did that, they'd have to lessen the damage.
Please don't nerf the nukes.

Like a nice peaceful scenic night flight over the city...
...on a UFO. -
If not for farmers, we'd still be hunting and gathering. Or bowling, maybe.

Well, I'm not much into the ERP thing, so...

If I'm on a big team (as depicted here) I generally can't see anything once the fighting starts anyway.
Whee.
Is it out of the park? What park? Where's the park? Where the heck DID we park? Marco? MARCO!!! -
I vaguely remember some sort of bug from back when Wentworth's was introduced that caused rest to vanish.

Quote:Thank you. Thank you. This covers it nicely. It's everything I wanted to say (but just couldn't dredge up the required energy) and more. /e salute.OK,
We've improved from 'Gawdawful Abomination' to 'Meh'.
These costumes are still pointless ostentation for the sake of ostentation, but they're no longer screamingly abhorrent and do somewhat echo the previous look.
I'd just as soon see the abandonment of the ridiculous amounts of layers, pads and spikiness that every costume option we've seen in the past couple of months has been burdened with, but apparently that's not going to happen.
Welcome to the Circle of Liefeld. It's a fairly deep circle of hell, close by the one set aside for multiple covers, issue Zeroes, and Wizard Magazine.
My only question is this: what are the Carnival of Shadows going to say/do when they discover that the Circle of Thorns, a dark and secretive cult, is now more shiny and colorful than they are? -
