Woa, dudes - call me Mr Late to the Party, but I just found out that Castle has left CoH.

I'd much rather have had a plain old level bump with plenty of plain old 51-60 content.

Quote:Well, gosh, maybe if they had included the pretty decent story arc as an alternative to the old unlocks instead of using it to replace them more people would be happy and content with the new content, eh?To be honest I find the whole Alpha Slot unlock issue hilarious, the poor devs can't win. First they made it unlockable for either merits or completion of a TF, people complained it didn't feel "epic" enough. Then they replaced the old unlock with a pretty decent story arc, and people complain it's to hard.

Maybe they shouldn't be called 'bifurcations' since he doesn't stop after creating just one (that is to say, bifurcating himself so that there are two of him). Maybe they should change the name to 'Infinifurcations' since he just keeps on furcating.

Quote:Because HERE, right HERE, is where the TRUE challenge lies.Eh, how is offering a reward they'll never have to give something that requires a dare? Not to mention that it'll just be incentive to leave the forums as they are.
Forget Trapdoor. Forget all those other guys in all the TFs and Trials and whatever.
Let us fight...
THE FORUMS. -
I think it should be like this:
Whoever can go for FOURTEEN DAYS without being auto-logged off of the Forums wins Immunity, er, I mean unlocks the Alpha Slot for all existing and future level 50 characters (never have to do that arc again) and for each day they remain un-auto-logged off the forums thereafter, a shard!
I double dog dare the devs to do this. -
No slow loading for me today (or auto-log outs, so far) but there have been times recently when even trying to go back to the previous page will take a loooooooooong time.

It stands for 'Mister Magoo Online', the new online action/adventure/role-playing game from Squintsoft in which EVERYONE is Mister Magoo! Online! Buy the Standard Version or pay extra for the Elite Edition with a fancier box which includes a coupon for 10% off on MagooVision (tm) glasses, sold separately!
"Oh, Magoo, you've done it again!"
We now return you to your regularly scheduled Tin Mage ridiculousness debate, still in progress... -
Welcome, my son. Welcome to the Elite.
Who did you fight? It's all right, we told you who to fight.
You're through the Trapdoor, finished your chore.
Now was that so hard for your first shard?
Go and replay old stuff to equip your buff.
Yes, the Alpha's way cool, and you know that Incarnates rule.
So welcome.
To the Elite. -

Here's what *I* wanted (with power set proliferation, customizable powers, and side-switching included - oh, and fingers):
1. For Boomtown to get the Fallout Treatment. At least four contacts there, each with one or more story arcs all leading up to some sort of big finish. Meanwhile, over in the Shadow Shard, work would begin on trimming the fat from some of those TFs and also creating new story arcs for each section.
2. After the Boomtown revamp, the major focus would be on telling the tale of Dark Astoria - and what a tale to tell it would be. Again, at least four contacts, each with big huge gut-wrenching story arcs and maybe a nice new TF or Trial to go along with it all. Also - come up with some way that anyone who'd completed the DA story no longer saw it wreathed in fog (unless they were replaying the story with someone else who hadn't completed it). Meanwhile, over in the Shadow Shard, work continues.
3. Praetoria would take players all the way to <bleeping!> level <bleeping!> 50. Meanwhile, back on Primal Earth, the process of tidying up the Freedom Phalanx TFs would be well underway. -

Quote:My first 50 - energy/energy blaster - was created in late 2005 just before ED was instituted. She was still using TOs, I believe, when I6 launched. I always have felt it was a Shame I never really got to experience pre-ED conditions. It's almost a shame it's so much easier to level in the game that it was at launch. I think everyone would benefit if they were to run a blaster (or other squishy) to 50 under the old xp/debt rates before experiencing the melee ATs

Quote:Unfortunately, that ball is neither big nor red.The end game is being developed already, and we are being told it is more challenging. The ball is rolling, and it's not in the court you want it to be.
Did the devs win or lose the fight with AE? -

My first 50 took around 3 months - from early October of 2005 to late December 2005 or maybe early January 2006. Give or take a week or two either way. That was from playing almost every night (after the first couple of weeks) with a solid team: we called ourselves the Veggie Pals, because of one guy had a humanoid carrot character.
Since then it's been much slower getting a character to 50 - some have taken years to get there - in no small part due to rampant altitis. Frequent stalling points for me are the mid 30s and the low 40s. By the time I get one to 50 I'm pretty much ready to move on to another alt (which is why the Incarnate system isn't making me do the Dance of Joy). -
Yes, really.
Quote:How can you say something was taken away from you....when you never had it in the first place?
Quote:Seriously, if you hate what they are doing to the game SO much....why the hell are you still giving them your money?!
Oh, I see, you think the game has been crap for the past 6 years but you're pretty happy with that. Gotcha.
