I'm more casual than many on the boards and my Fire/Dev was my first to 50 many years ago. I went /dev for Targeting Device as it is unforgivable in my mind that a ranged dps somehow miss the target. I cried heroic, manly tears when ED made me unslot two of my +hit enhancements. I'm just hoping an actual blaster player can confirm that I've got the right idea about this statement.

The quote means that if my enhancement info tells me that I've put Targeting Drone at 20% or higher I have reached the target amount?

Second question, a bit greedy with the opportunity, will cloaking device retain the cloak now that it's named 'Field Operative'? I presume so, since Hawk felt we wouldn't need a respec to fix the gap.

    Thanks in advance!
  2. Thanks for all the hard work on these replies. Quite a lot of stuff I'll be incorporating into my respec.

Right now, I'm just running my 'dailies' every 20 hours plus whatever other missions I can get time to do.
  3. Wow, great helps already! I'm certainly going to respec but I was somewhat worried it would mess up incarnate slotting. I see that some min/max in the fighting pool for res and def boosts but the numbers are too inconsequential to me. I was told I'd be a glass cannon and I wanna be the best cannon I can be!

Besides, since my damage numbers are the highest stat I have, they get the most out of boosting. I might as well work with that one directly rather than tossing out the same power twice (albeit quickly!) in order to do more damage at the expense of more stamina.

With the mention of respec for a x/dev blaster, is it a lateral move to take the concealment power pool over cloaking device? I'd like to stay in my secondary if the numbers are good enough. Thanks!
  4. Heh. Pardon the campy title! I'm looking for the former SG Leader of Ascendence. He ran an en/en blaster back in the day and I'm just wondering if he is still around these parts?

He'll recognize my blaster Fireclad as we ran on MANY maps together

Anyway, just a note in the wind...
  5. I looked around in the forums and guides for some advice on Incarnate abilities. As a returning gamer who has been away for quite a while, I have much to learn. However, I didn't see any suggestions concerning Incarnate abilities and blasters. To be specific, I mean Alpha Slot choices. I thought there might be at least two reasons for this:

    1. The 'correct' choices are too obvious.
    2. The choices are too subjective.

Consider this question as a blank canvas on which you can share your blaster to blaster suggestions based on your experiences. Specifically, I wouldn't mind personal guidance for my veteran Fire/Dev blaster from Pre-ED/Target Cap CoH.

My lowdown: I'm six slotted on every primary power except Flares. They are my only exemption. I skipped Taser, Timed Mine, Gun Drone and Smoke Grenade in my secondary. Pretty sure I still have fitness as a pool pick along with flight, speed, and recall friend. Epic pool is Fire for Rise of the Phoenix.

    Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
  6. Thanks muchly for the thorough answers.
  7. I started with CoH way back in '04 and even when I had to stop logging on, I could never get it out of my head. It's exactly what I want in an online game. I was lucky enough to notice a CoH gametime card in a local store and went nuts with nostalgia. Yep, immediate purchase.

Now, I'm dusting off vintage builds and trying to figure out so many changes. I had/have altitis, so there are a number of toons on Pinnacle that I love. Question is, I now have a server transfer token for free through the purchase and I don't really know how it works. All the info I can find is old or incomplete on most topics, including this one. So here is my question:

If I transfer my character to another server, will I have to unlock that server and that slot if I eventually have to go back to premium level? Secondly, will the server transfer stack monthly or does it expire? Thanks!

With Enhancement Diversification comes a benefit for ALL City of Heroes powers.

Every power, across the board, is getting a 13.33% reduction in its Endurance cost.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll still burn more endurance having to attack every mob twice to do the same damage I used to do with one shot. Running six slotted damage on a */devices blaster was an opportunity afforded to me because I gave up buildup. Now, without compensating for the loss of buildup I can also not have the damage of six slotted attacks without severely wasting the value of slots 4,5, and 6.

I use the example of a */dev blaster but this is true for almost every single other build. You will STILL use more endurance than you did pre-ED because you will HAVE to attack everything more often.

ED is one of the most obvious tactics I have seen in any MMO to turn the game into a timesink and increase the financial profitability by forcing people to take much longer to accomplish the goals of the game. I take it as a personal insult to the collective intelligence of the playercore that they floated ED in under the auspices of wanting to diversify builds and thus make the game more fun for all.

What will be diversified next? Will there be a timer set up on how long we can be logged in because it will be more fun for us if we know we can't be on for more than an hour?
  9. Great post. Keep up the good work. Please!

I hope you all get the respect and attention you deserve for what you do in a team. Can I get you anything to drink while you wait?
  10. Defiance is not an effective boost to the higher end blaster and since that is where the majority of time is spent (XP halfway point is level 38 for all ATs IIRC), the majority of blasters see no boost from defiance.

At least not a boost a few red inspirations wouldn't provide while still at 100% health!

Further, while we're tempting blasters to walk on the razor's edge after removing any defenses they could have mustered together it is important to point out that just two deaths in a mission (even at higher slider settings) will provide you with more debt than XP when that beloved completion bonus comes around even with instanced missions providing halved debt.

Blasters need to stand out as the offensive juggernauts you have labeled them as from 100% health on. They have sacrificed defense, resistance, status protection, buffs, group control, and heals for damage. They have given up EVERYTHING for damage and are outdamaged by even MORE people in I5.

    Drop defiance.

Their range is just f'd right the hell up.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And half their damn shots are cone attacks. Nothing like one of them fighting the tank across a room, and spamming you with bullets too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And even if you do dip into power pools to boost your defense, it doesn't apply to cones or AoEs.

But the Malta Group are just one giant conspiracy filled with evil cheater-heads.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think I need to make that a broadcast bind for my malta missions...

/bind numpad1 broadcast You Maltas are a bunch of evil cheater-heads!

    Thanks for the line Kali!

Note that when Update 4 comes in, the Shadow Shard is going to get a whole lot less frustrating for the jumpies and the speedies. The reason for this being that you can buy temporary flight packs in the Arena that will work anywhere--which means a missed geyser jump need no longer be a one-way ticket back to entrance-of-zonesville. They only allow 2 minutes of use for the flight and 5 minutes of use for the hover versions, but you only need a few seconds to salvage a badly-aimed geyser.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Although an excellent suggestion at the original date of posting, the use of temporary powers outside of the arena has been changed. They will now be greyed out outside of the arena. Sorry!

How often do you lie dead for longer than a minute? That almost never happens with me. Is this a common occurance among the majority of the playerbase?

If the answer is no then your complaint is moot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My blaster can 'play dead' at the drop of a hat (or tank grenade) due to aggro from attacks or AoEs on melee types who ran next to me while I was attempting to not be seen. I have frequently stayed dead for more than a minute, hoping to win an awaken from battles or waiting for the melees to clear mobs and hand me one (or an actual rez).

Now, on top of being forced out of my flawed 'range is defense' tactic into handshake distance with mobs, I will also be missing much more exp during missions as I lay dead and wait or run back from the hospitals. 'Course I could ask everyone else to stop and wait for me to get back in...but somehow I think that'll get old pretty quick for non-blasters.

Now, let me clarify the situation with Badges and Defeat tasks. As long as you or any of your teammates are within 200 ft. of the defeated mob, EVERYONE on the team gets credit. This is not a change in Issue 4; this is the way that it currently works.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ummmm...I thought the way it currently worked, for badge tallies, is that you get badge credit for kills anywhere in the zone?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sounds like if you are over 200' no one gets credit.

    So no sniping for badges!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or for street hunting! Bad blaster bad!
