    Supply and Demand.

If supply is low and the demand is high its only natural that prices are high.

My post had nothing to do with prices, but availability. At any given time, those can be found on the Market, that was my point.

Miracle +recovery = Unique also NOT purple
Numinas +regen +recovery = Unique also NOT purple
Expedient Reinforcement resist aura io = Unique also NOT Purple
    etc, etc...

See what I mean, unique does not equate to purple, or uber rare. Yes, it can be an indication but doesn't necesarily mean very rare. Rarer than most, yes...but not all.

meh, I ran out of steam. I fear if I continue, I will fall back into my old habits of attacks over helpful information.

I don't have the energy to pander to people who have nothing better to do than pick apart peoples posts line by line. Especially when those exact lines have already been addressed earlier in the post. Sure I can respond in kind, but I have neither the energy nor desire to do so.

Those IOs you mentioned, that are on the high side, are meant to be end-game content. Like those have said before, you can play and "beat the game" on just SOs. Now whats different in CoX is that instead of raiding that top-level dungeon for hours, or spawn camping for hours you get a small chance of getting "top level loot" just by playing the game with ANY enemy 47 and above. For PvP IOs? All you have to do is PvP with ANYone at ANY level. With Super-sidekicking its actually possible to get purples at level 1. Now compared to a lot of other games thats a pretty sweet deal.

Now I won't get into the argument about increasing those chances because I haven't personally decided which side of the fence I personally stand but here is a question I've always wanted to ask when someone says the good stuff is too expensive: If you could log onto a game like WoW and see that super-shiny-shield of protection or that awesome power-upgrade that only the high-levels get on a market for a price you could afford after 3 days of game-play. How would you feel about the game? How would it affect your view of the "end-game?"

Please don't take the above as an attack but an actual serious question. I think a lot of us have assumed wrongly that people want goals, but it might be time to hear what the other guy really does think.
I am confused by this. Why is this pointed towards me? The only thing I said regarding purples was that they are not as rare as people think, that was it. I have no issue with their prices, or drop rate, or anything. My only comment was that, in my opinion and experience, they aren't all that rare.

I have gotten a lot of purples on my 35+ toons. This is due to the prevalence of ITF's that I run when my toons get over 35. Every toon I have leveld since Cimerora came out has gotten at least 2+ purples by the time they reached 47 and could slot them, or I would sell them depending on my financial needs at the time.

Thank you for the clarification Bandeeto. I had thought they were separated by servers, which is how it is on every other MMO. I stand corrected. Thanks

Perhaps I used bad wording, what I meant to say is those last 5 are not necessarily the average price.

Yes, obviously "someone" paid that price, but that does NOT mean that is what the going price is for that particular item. Seller A has tons of Widgets for sale but he wants to sell them for more than the average price, so what does he do? easy, he buys up 5 items at the price he wants to sell at. IF the average price is 500 and he wants to sell for 5000 be buys the last 5 for 5000 1 at a time, then lists his stock of say, 20 of said item for 5000.

Buyer A comes along and sees the high price, so he bits something like 3500 thinking he might get a deal from the high prices of 5000....bingo! he wins! sold for 3500.

Now, this repeats, with some small variation, for the next 20 items that Seller A listed and me makes a whopping profit selling items for more than the "average" price.

This is just a rough example and has many many variations.

    Understand me now?

I said nothing with regards to pricing being different on blue and red side.

As for you calling BS, you are welcome to. The fact remains. On my server, I have never not been unable to buy a purple IO recipe I was looking for. Even when planning out future builds and checking availability I have never seen 0 for sale.

The important part here you might have overlooked is "on my server" Maybe you play on a different server than I do, in which case your experiences may differ than mine. Playing on the most populated server does have its advantages from time to time.

You don't need any purple in order to defeat level 50 content. In fact you don't need to have IO sets or even normal IOs to defeat level 50 content. SO's are sufficient.

Purples are Uniques aka VERY RARES.

Things that are VERY RARE are hard to come by, so, of course, they are expensive.

If there were a lot of them around, then the prices would drop...but that's not really true either.
Some players are just too lazy to craft things.
I would like to thank those players - *cha-ching!*

That first sentence is a doozy. If you can't pay it, you don't need it? Since when did price determine need? No one ever needs any IO's, they want them. The cost of an item has no bearing on how much you need or want it.

Unique does not always equate to Rare it means you can only slot one of them per toon.

btw: just because the price is that high, does not necessarily mean someone paid that much. Price fixing is easy to do and happens A LOT on the market place.

Purples are not all that rare. At least on my server, at any given time I can go to the market, and look up ANY purple IO and there will ALWAYS be some for sale. The same can not be said for many other IO sets or particular IO's. The cost is only partially set by its rarity, the other part is the ridiculous amount of Influence/Infamy that many players have due to farming or people outright buying influence/infamy.

I don't see any "not so polite info" in this thread. It's just people suggesting that the OP learn how the market in our game works, since it's obvious that he's missing something. There are no harsh words or name-calling (not even a "lrn2play noob" yet), so I'm not sure what you're considering "not polite."
Funny how you chose to single me out and correct me rather than the person two posts above me who said pretty much the same thing. Then again, its the "in" thing to target me anyway. And no, i'm not saying you attacked me, don't get your feathers all ruffled up.

  11. I have been using binds and macros for pet emotes and actions for years, for the most part they have always worked.

I recently created a new MM and copied over some of the macros i used. When I tested them they did not work! So, thinking it might have been an issue with copying, i tried the original macros on the original toon. Again, broken...

    Here is what happens...

    I created the macro: /macro Idle petsay_name Fish <em newspaper>$$petsay_name Little <em teabag>$$petsay_name Gaspipe <em boombox>$$petsay_name Big <em flippingcoin>$$petsay_name Animal <em martialarts>$$

Now, my pets are named Little Vinnie, Gaspipe, The Fish, Big Joey, Big Vinnie and The Animal.

This used to work fine, they all did something, now it seems when I use it I get an error saying PetCommandFailNoMatch, from the first pet i think, then rest of the pets "say" their emotes in the pet chat channel.

They say it like Little Vinnie: <em teabag>

Each command works when done individually, but something breaks it when I put them all in one macro using the $$ as seperators. Even when only combining two, they breakm, so it's not that I am trying to string to many together.

Any recent changes I missed? or anyone see an error I am making? I would really appreciate any help you all can give, thanks!

Before you guys keep attacking him, you might want to take a breath and think for a minute. Perhaps he may be referring to the prices you pay when you buy the IO's from the invention tables in the University, or wherever you find one.

These prices are indeed set by devs, and I would agree are far too high for what they are.

The good part is, nearly every IO that is for sale through the Invention Table can also be bought off of the market for far less, and this is what I would suggest to the OP.

Do not buy any IO's from the Tables, only buy them from the Market.

HOWEVER, if the OP is referring to the market prices, well....see the posts above me for the super polite info.

  15. Satanic_Hamster- Are you saying someone gave you neg rep for post you made, in your own thread, that they deemed didn't help you?? Some people...sheesh.
  16. First off, I was NOT the one who gave you any feedback. Those (myself) in glass houses should throw no stones.

Anyhow, I do see the point whoever did that was trying to make. Your post did not address the OP's question. His problem was not that he did not have his binds correctly bound to a key, it was that they were reverting when he ZONED. This does not happen just because you didn't assign the right letter to a bind. There had to be some other issue or reason.

While I don't agree with the action taken, perhaps this is why whoever did that, did that. *shrug*

Personally, forum "rep" points is a waste of time and are always, on every single forum they are on, misused and abused. They are pointless and do nothing.

Post counts are also, to a lesser degree pointless since they are also consistently "padded" as well and serve little purpose. Does someone's opinion mean more just because they posted hundreds or even thousands of times on topics that are completely irrelevant to the topic at hand?

How do you know the issue is video card specific? It can be many other things, like heat issues, lack of power issues, memory issues, etc. Do you get an error message? If so, what does it say? Would you please post a CoH Helper and a Hijack this log so we can help you further, thanks!

Voluntarily installing something does not mean it is not a virus. To say the definition of a computer virus is just a program that copies itself without human involvement is also not entirely true.

The name Malware includes computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, most rootkits, spyware, dishonest adware, crimeware, and other malicious and unwanted software, including true viruses. So actually, you are both right on that part.

Aside from spreading on its own, a virus usually causes harm to either a computer system's hosted data, functional performance, or networking throughput when they are executed. Some viruses have symptoms noticeable to the computer user, but many are surreptitious.

To the OP, I would not worry about it. As stated before it is an issue with Kaspersky being a bit over protective.
  19. This is just my opinion, but I feel you have under slotted your Phantasm, Spectral Wounds, Hasten and possibly Stamina. Then way over slotted Combat Jumping, Superior Invisibility, and Health. There are other "odd" slotting choices, but can be lived with.

Here is my current Ill/Storm, relatively cheap build and it works very well. I run speed ITF's regularly and die very rarely. I cause lv54 boss farms to go rather smooth with all the debuffs and dmg

*a side note - I very rarely exemp down with this toon as doing so breaks the perma hasten and many of the set bonuses. Very fun toon to play!

ya know FX, I just re-read that article...and I haven't the foggiest where I saw it. I must have been doing too many things at once. For some reason I remember seeing a chart, but right now can not for the life of me remember where and my history has hundreds of pages listed for the last day.

I apologize for the erroneous information and will take better care not to post while distracted to reduce the chance of passing on inaccurate information.
  23. Oh my, apparently I hit a sensitive spot. I am sorry, maybe I did misunderstand somewhat, but that is no need to get all offensive and insulting.

I am not going to get in a pissing contest with you because that never solves anything but I will try to briefly explain why I may have misunderstood.

Again, I am sorry if I have misunderstood you when I read
    Quote:
On teams I can take aggro off of all but tanks and some brutes. I've saved allies on the final battle with the Phalanx in the LRSF by provoking a hero off of them. I've separated the healing Nictus from Romulus on the ITF.
I see the part about all but tanks and some brutes, it is a bit ambiguous, but ok I could have misunderstand that part.

Then the part about pulling a "Hero" off "them" in a LRSF, again ambiguous with room for misinterpretation, which again I apparently did, and again I apologize.

Lastly the part on separating the healy nictus, I do this regularly and tank it on my blaster. I am a good player, but I am to humble to call myself a "great" player so if i can do it, anyone can. So not much really to flex about on that one.

You could have been far less offensive and aggro in your response, but your point is taken nonetheless. Sorry for the confusion I have apparently caused. We both seem to be in agreement over the import of World of Pain, but still in disagreement over the import of Provoke, and that is ok. People don't agree on everything all the time.

And really...keep playing? I have been playing longer than you have, at least according to the forum registry, which I know is not always accurate since I was playing since 2005 but didn't register until 2006 on forums. Among my numerous 50's is 4 Masterminds so I would say I have a good grasp of the class and various play styles. Because I may not agree with one of your opinions that hardly means i need to "l2p"

Yeah, I know I was nice and polite until that last paragraph. Sorry, old habbits are hard to break, but I am working on it!
