Well I confess I was one of the first people to read it, but being as no one else has said anything, personally I thought it was a good story!
Feedback-wise, I think you overused the word 'idiot' and 'idiot hero' - the man is supposed to be pretty smart I assume, so I figured he'd have a little wider a vocabulary
Don't just look up idiot in a thesaurus and swap in a variety of alternatives though, a friend tried that (not for idiot specifically of course) and it just came across as pretty obvious that he'd done it.
Have fun -
I guess genericNPC violated copyright rules. Amusing stuff. See, if they actually fixed all these things we wouldn't be able to gather around and laugh at them!

Hi Chi (I had a good friend at school named Chi as it happens). We're usually an 8-man team, so assuming everyone turned up, which we'd hope, there wouldn't be room. On the other hand, it is sometimes difficult for everyone to get on, so you could check with us at about 7:15 on Tuesday - if there's a space it'd be good to fill it if we can.
As for Skewer's deaths, well the bad guys really really hate those net arrows of his - he's quite reknowned among the criminal masses, and they're pretty much all set to kill him on sight. -
Ugh, I seem to have crashed trying to exit that last mission! Sorry about that. Well it was good to have met you Cameron.
See y'all next week folks -
Any of you radioactive types fancy a frolic about on Friday evening, say from 7pm? Could up mission difficulty to invincible and try our luck, just for larks and whatnot.
-
Not to worry, we had a merry frolic around Steel Canyon and Boomtown. We also did a trial run of the first mission in the TF - I'll probably take a more supportive role in the TF, trying to keep Syph alive
-
Admittedly I'm a patient kinda guy, so I'm in no particular rush, but possibilities for the trial if we don't start Posi today include Friday at 7pm, Monday at 7pm, next Tuesdays session. Of course if everyone is about next Tuesday we could just go straight for Posi.
The weekend is looking iffy on account of the "I can only do early" / "I can only do late" thing
But as said, if we can get everyone together today, if only for a few minutes, we could get the TF started and finish it next week. -
So what are your thoughts folks? We still have a chance to do the Caverns trial, although it'll require a handful of lead up missions, and we'd still need a full team before doing the trial itself, or we could just stall for a week. Of course I get the impression folks are looking forward to the taskforce, and there's no guarantee everyone could make it next week either, so it's still an option.
Personally I'd favour going for the trial - better still, if we could find a time everyone was free over the weekend, we could do the trial then and then just get the taskforce started so that everyone is at least on it - so if they can't make it on the tuesday they might still be there for the end if it stretches to the following tuesday.
Still a good few hours before kickoff, so I'm open to thoughts and suggestions.

So will you just be late or will you be a no show?

Fair point, if you could make it by 8pm for example, we could do missions until then and finish the TF next week? Of course what with the training and the travelling I think I'd understand if you just wanted a break once you get back -
If I recall, the dark heal has a pretty nice -acc, -dam debuff to the target as well, so it's definitely worth spamming when part of a team.
It's also worth noting that corrupters get the highest yield out of leadership powers, and it's certainly worth considering for tactics if nothing else. -

I have Frosty on RadChango (who just dinged 11) in case people want to get together for a Rad team...

Any news on this? Poor Nuklea's been lumbered with all her AoE attacks, so she doesn't solo too well. Roll on the next issue, then I can use the inevitable free respec to give her x-ray eye beams -
Well, as ever, we owned pretty heartily. Just a couple of bars short of 10, so we'll have enervating field available for most of next week
Evillimber, what's your character's name? All being well we'll see you next week.
Vex, we seem to be taking it in turns crashing out - I think it's Docs turn next week isn't it?
Well hope to see you all next week - 7pm, at the Arena in Port Oakes? -
What's this, page 5? Has everyone got bored already? Howabout a meet up one evening soon, or maybe have a run around over the weekend?
-
Cool cool
And GForce, my ice blaster is sitting at lvl 20 waiting for me to get round to doing Synapse, so we could organise our own for another evening if you'd like? -
Would exemping a lvl 50 down to 40 work? Not that I have a lvl 50. Or a lvl 40. Just trying to help is all!
-
I think we're all in the 7-8 range - as you correctly surmised, we got cut short this week. Hopefully with a bit of a push I can get 10 by the end of Wednesday - Enervating Field becomes available then
-
On a largely unrelated matter, there was a dog down the vets today called Tufty
And I contest that Syph doesn't offer anything - aside from regularly detonating in the midst of hordes of enemies, she also has radiation infection, offering improved defence against all attacks made by those infected as well as making the infected easy targets for my siphons - nice against those ne'er-do-well boss types. -
Lvl 25? That sounds... interesting! As for the embalmed, I recently discovered that toggle debuffs (radiation infection, enervating field and presumably darkest night as well) prevent embalmed from exploding - they just stand next to their intended target looking very constipated
But yeah, it's not going to be an easy ride, but I think we can take them -
Do those settings affect task forces? If so I'd be sorely tempted to suggest heroic for Posi and move it up for the rest of them, because Posi was always a pain in the behind (bloody Ruin mages, how I hate thee)
-
Sadly you stop earning experience as soon as you hit 16, so we'd all be lvl 16 by the end. Still, it'd give us a chance to visit the Doc Vazhilok story arc before doing Synapse
-
Oh I agree a mastermind should have one or two attacks in his arsenal for special occasions and whatnot - I find the 3rd power in the primary, available at lvl 2, to generally be a good choice.
But I certainly wouldn't agree that life drain is a good attack or a good heal. It only heals yourself, not your pets, its damage is comparable to dark blast, despite having a much longer recharge and a much higher endurance cost. If you slot it for damage, it'll be a terrible heal, if you slot it as a heal it will be a terrible attack and if you slot it for both then it'll just be very bad at both.
I did find a space for siphon life on my scrapper, as a fast recharging self-heal and accuracy debuff to slot in from time to time when other powers were recharging just to keep my health topped up, but I don't see Life Drain as being at all useful on a mastermind who already has to sacrifice some good powers to make room for better powers. It is quite simply a sub-par power.
EDIT: I suppose it might be vaguely useful in PvP, slotted for healing and accuracy debuffs, being as players tend not to be so easily fooled into fighting minions. But again, only if you don't have dark miasma as secondary. -
Hmm, on the subject of invites, could I get Ilservian into GBH? Lvl 36 dark/regen.

Hey I'm not the only one with a crispy video card! It's been pretty good to me recently actually, since I stopped using the room fan and put the side of the case back on - started getting the occasional graphic glitch again but it isn't crashing out after 5 minutes in-game like it was.
My thoughts on Posi are, we've already got a lvl 14 (complete with Tactics *happy dance*), at least a couple of 13s and then everyone else should be 10+ or at least very close to 10. That's why I wanted to know what level everyone is. By the time the TF is over, the 10s should be more like 13 or 14, and the 14 should be 16 and earning influence in preparation for new DOs at 17 -
Well it was a pleasure working with such fine professionals as yourselves.
All being well we won't crash out next week! 7pm at the starting fort, with Kalinda et al? The Hellion mission will be there.
