I find it amusing how so many people come out of the woodwork to flame someone for just trying to help others. They have this goal of proving you wrong and showing you every flaw they can find when all you did was provide your opinion based on your own research.

On behalf of those who don't fight with our noses in the air, thank you for the post. It had a lot of good information and helped see a few mistakes I was about to make with my AR/Dev blaster.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. This is a good guide and I hope it stays that way.

If anyone has an uber build that uses a secret strategy to work, leave it out of this thread please. This thread is for 'sharing' information on powerleveling.
  2. There will be a costume contest help on Thursday July 1st in Atlas Park plaza. There will be a small panel of judges and a grand prize of 25000 influence, to join please send me a message.
  3. RSRobinson,

Do you have any advice for 41-50 yet? or any comments on where best to powerlevel without swarms and monkeys for 31-40?

Also, my own addition courtesy of the patch: The zombies in Dark Astoria now jump around like crackheads instead of shambling about like they did before. It's now worthwhile to throw out caltrops before flamethrower so that they stop long enough for you to line up a cone (and you'll be waiting on caltrops recharge timer if you don't have hasten by the time you hit DA).

This wasn't mentioned in the patch notes but I kinda noticed after being there 5 levels and seeing the sudden change in zombie behavior.

Just a tid bit of info for the person that made the huge deal over someone saying elect blasters powers sometimes cause targets to shake, and seem stuned. I've tried it, and if you read the descroptions of each power in the creation phase, you'll notice I believe its says lightning blast, can cause the foes to be stuned, shaking and disoriented from the blast which can last up till the for takes more dmg.

I've witnessed this when a Emp/Elec defender hit a foe with that power, you see a faint static discharge around the foes body, and he stands there shaking violently for a few momments, roughly 2-3 seconds as it was during the first we were engauged in. This happen several times from just a defender's blasts, so imagin a true powered Elec blaster using it, with hasten, means almost unlimited shock stuned foe, when you fire off the same power over and over. Now then, in my own trials with a elec blaster, as was my first choice before I desided I thought Fire best fit my characters background and story line. I noticed this stun effect very rarely in the early levels. Maybe 1 in 4-5 foes would get shock stuned. However, this amount went up marginally as he leveled, and by time he was 10th, the blast would most times shock stun them after 2-3 hits from that same power. Means it ramps up in power and effectiveness with levels, and like alot of powers, has its secondary effect percentage increased with levels as well.

Now, you can say, your 5 min servey of the power is absolute, and that you know better then anyone else, but you can't disallow another persons insite on the point cause they are testing it via higher levels and different enhancements. In fact I tend to believe the effect triggers more with more ACC you have, cause my bud is a Elec/Dev blaster, and uses targeting drone 100% of the time. This doesn't mean all elec powers can stun or shock stun as it were, but some can and will. THough some are rigidly made just for it and others use it as a secondary minor effect for mostly visual reasons, but also to a degree, for tactical use when and if it does happen, you can watch for it and know when to leap in with other powers to knock them out faster.

Now then, I don't know if its possible to constantly stun, guess it could be, but in effect it is possible to stun with some Elec powers, 3 that I know of for sure, one is lightning blast the second power in the set, and it even says it will do it in the description given in the power selection screen.

Pardon my absence... It was in affect to protect certain powers as RSRobinson has finally and for the first time guessed correctly.

    Ronin DF, you are correct.

RSRobinson conducted a 5 minute survey with his gimp toy and still refuses to admit there is a stun inherent on certain electricity attacks.

Others notice it, but attribute it to a graphical anomaly that only occurs when the enemy is NOT attacking, but SOMEHOW doesn't occur when the enemy Is attacking.....

    Ronin, again you are correct.

The shock/stun effect does increase in occurence with higher levels. It IS influenced by accuracy but is MAINLY dependant on the amount DRAINED. Thus, if you DRAIN more, you SHOCK LONGER. Apparently this too, although i hinted at this, escaped RSRobinson......

RSRobinson wrote " RoninDF, the test was to prove, as I said, that the shake itself is not a stun. And I did. As for if there is something else that can cause a stun, my housemate is a 36 Electricity blaster, I've played with and watched him play plenty of times. And I talked to him. He said, on occassion, it looks like a stun effect is going off. But no way in heck was there a consistent, 3-second stun going off on every attack. Not even close. An occassional benefit? Perhaps. Something that will make an electricity blaster in PVP? No way."

This is interesting. He merely states that he has relations with an electricity blaster (who most likely read RSRobinson's nub guide and slots all dmg, producing 0 shocks) and then comes to a conclusion. How quaint! Perhaps I could simply say NO, provide an example that takes 2-3 powers into account and ignore all notions of slotting!!! And then say thats all.... because i said so!

No no... I don't have that luxury, i have to PROVE to him and his cult that he is sorely wrong and refuses to admit that he has not the means nor the knowledge on how to produce a stun blaster ... aka electricity

He refuses to comment on my ability to COMPLETELY stun almost ANY pack of minions White and below. From start to finish, I can prevent packs or single minions and LT's from firing a SINGLE shot.... I mean this statement ALONE negates ANY possible argument attempting to disprove a stun exists.... NO! He won't accept that! He WONT accept my occurences, only his own! Or

"If I can't make it happen, then it MUST not be true! Not only that, but I won't accept any theories on how its possible because they most likely mean my statements in my guide are inaccurate."

Its time to make a level 5 character, who has access to the FIRST minor power that has a stun effect ! Poorly slotted he STILL notices the stun, but EASILY dissmissed it with a recharging of the enemy's attacks. Interesting that he merely stated what he saw, not WHEN he saw it, or HOW it happened..... NO! He just saw it, and applied his theory again...

What most likely occured, is that he opened with lightning bolt, and noticed the monster, if shocked, COULDNT attack TILL the animation was over! As Ronin pointed out.....

No, he refuses to respond on HOW A MONSTER COULD BE RECHARGING IF THE MONSTER HASNT FIRED YET. No, he won't comment on that, because he can't. There is no refutable, rational, explanatory statements he could make that would justify his argument.

I also offered to any, and all a brief meeting on the freedom server so that I could flagrantly display my shocking (stun) powers.... No, thats not good enough either.

Apparently, RSRobinson said it was so, therefor it must be so!

In truth, he has an argument. His argument is his guide. He states his case, and the premises within. The masses read this guide, and praise him for his guidance..... partly because they lacked their own and perhaps aren't as astute as RSRobinson and cannot make decisions themselves when faced multiple tempting options.

The problem though, lies within his stubborness. He refuses to admit and will continually deny certain aspects of a blaster type that HE scorned in his guide! Having certain fans and respect, he takes the sophist approach, and merely presents evidence that apparently cannot differ from his own findings... which were brief and biased. He has seen, never controlled.....

Ironically, he can NEVER achieve the same results as another who is suggesting an alternate outcome, because he ONLY follows his OWN model. Thus, he OBVIOUSLY can't produce anything different. He has his own guidelines to follow and thus he has to defend them in fear of public ridicule.

What powers does he have available?
    How is he slotting?
Does he even KNOW which powers can produce certain shock?
Is he AWARE of certain situations which are ONLY possible under hasted effects ?

Apparently not... he said she said got the best of him. He 'saw' ... but won't come to watch me. And I won't post, or make some guide on how or why X blaster is the best. Although i could, but then again he nor his cult wont understand something which cannot programmed, categorized , or easily referenced.

You have the thanks of a greatful nation.

Over in the Scrapper forums, we had a guy exactly like "Lightning_Fast", who went by the name of "Tahiro". He was always posting about his Uber Super Reflex Build (stop laughing, I'm NOT making this up!) that was basically invulnerable to harm, and could one-hit entire troops of Purple Bosses.

Oddly enough, HE wouldn't post his build either.

The fact is that there's a severly limited number of ways to build and slot an Ice Blaster, just as there are only so many ways to build an SR Scrapper. You'd have to be retarded to "refuse to post your build because you don't want people copying". Anyone with even a tiny bit of CoH experience can pretty much make an optimal build of ANY Archtype Primary- there's really no Voodoo involved.

Oh, and much like Lighting_Fast, Tahiro disappeared from the boards once he was called on his nonsense.
  6. Shadowborn disposed of her final target, dropping him with a sharp jab to the jaw. She turned to listen to the conversation, shrugging her shoulders to resettle her armor. Flickers of dark magic scattered across her armor, sinking into the black metal.

"They're pretty good, aren't they?" Patriot Strike snarled. "Let's see if they're fast enough to stop me before I can shove a handful of caltrops down your pants."

Shadowborn shrugged again, a wicked smirk teasing the corners of her lips. "Caltrops is a good idea. Then we can toss him in a vat of salt." She murmured.

She leaned against the wall of the alley, listening quietly, her arms folded. "If he doesn't answer you, I can drain his life from him, bit by bit. If that would help." Shadowborn commented idly.
  7. I personally would have been interested to join, but I just think there are too many rules and regulations you have here. If I have a character which I love playing with, and I do a... let say... 6 hour run (which I have done before), why should I be penalized? I'm in no way a "power-gamer", but I think something like role-playing should be done in ones own fashion. And rewarding someone because they're the "best" roleplayer?

I think it's a great idea of what you're trying to do, but I'm just not sure if its being executed in the right way... but best of luck to you.
  8. Graht, oops, I didn't realize you thought you had to install them in the same place as the main program. Sorry if I seemed callous... I thought you just wanted to "keep things organized"

    Blue Volt,
Yah, ++ commands have given me problems too. Finally, I just opted for all 1 or 0 commands, setting the way I want them on press and release, with the +zoomin$$-zoomin starting it off.

As for big and little jumps depending on how long you hold the spacebar... that'd be cool, and would eliminate the problem with SJ being too much jump. I think I'd have to change my binds though, but would help out the jumpers (me eventually ).

Oh, don't worry about feedback... Vacation, even playing the game, should come before this thread I appreciate your help when you give it, but don't make it a 'job'.

  9. Really bad timing here, but I've got an initial release of my team_select generator ready to go. You can grab it from here: http://www.the-kgb.org/Select.exe

You can grab the VB6.0 source from here: http://www.the-kgb.org/BasicSelect.rar

I hope that I've beaten the error checking into the ground and you all won't find a way to break it, but as a word of warning don't put anything important in the "Select Backup" folder that it generates if you choose to back things up. If you choose to back up again at a later date, it simply wipes the directory and starts over (I was having too many issues simply trying to overwrite it).

The program should be pretty self explanatory, but here's a brief overview of how to ues it:<ul type="square">[*]Installation Directory: Generally you'll want to specify the FULL path to the directory that you want to install to. If you don't specify a drive, I'm not real sure where VB sticks it.
[*]Forward, Backward Cycle Key(s): List any number of keys that you want for both features with each key separated at least a comma and any number of spaces. For example, the default forward cycle keys are "C, TILDE" You could choose to have 5 cycle keys if your heart desires by doing something like this: "C, ALT+SPACE, LBUTTON, BUTTON4, SHIFT+RBUTTON" The choice is yours.
[*]Once you've installed: call /bind_load_file in game to load the "Init.txt" file generated in the Select directory that you chose to install to. For example, the default directory is "C:\Games\CoH\Binds\" so you will need to type the following in-game: "/bind_load_file C:\Games\CoH\Binds\Select\Init.txt"
[*]There are many more useful features I've been working on that simply aren't ready to be released in the state they're in, so this is a dumbed down and not very pretty working version of the basics. Let me know if there are any issues/errors and as always I welcome feedback. Enjoy![/list]EDIT: I don't know what additional files you will need to run this as I've never publicy released any VB code that I've written. Let me know if there are any files it requires that you don't have and I'll investigate further. Of course, somebody could always simply post what they think will be needed...
  10. ((ooc: Shadowborn is a dark/dark magic scrapper, wearing black medieval armor with red celtic interlacing. Her shoulder armor sweeps out into smooth points. Black hair, held back by a tiara and green eyes))

Soaring through the clear sky, Shadowborn glanced down at the sound of a grenade. Cursed Fifth. Who were they bothering this time? Her emerald gaze first saw the semi-robotic hero standing away from an alley. As she swept the earth with her eyes, she saw the other hero, fallen and the Fifth converging on her. Help or no? Bah. Easier to apologize than take the time to ask.

Dropping out of the embrace of the wind, Shadowborn landed heavily beside the cyborg. "Are you waiting for an invitation?" She snapped. "She's in trouble! Move!"

Without waiting to see if he was listening, she summoned a dark writhing cloud to shield herself and launched into the alley, slamming into the back of the nearest soldier with a flurry of blows.
  11. SandiThe Punk, and Blue Volt,

Interesting, SJ on Demand. Try out what Blue Volt suggests, Sandi, and see if it works. For the test, leave the spacebar (or your normal up key) alone, as my binds will just overwrite it anytime you move, and make a separate "always SJ" key. Blue volt's bind might make you jump FIRST, since +up is listed first, then toggle SJ on too late. If you hold the key down, you should get SJ on your 2nd jump, at least. If you don't get SJ on the first jump, try this:

    key "+zoomin$$-zoomin$$powexec_name combat jumping$$powexec_name super jump$$+up"

The zoomin's are just to get the press/release functionality by having a + first, while still letting you put the +up after the toggle.

If the basic idea does work, maybe do a mission and some street fighting, and see what makes 'real' world sense. DO you always want to SJ, or, as Blue suggested, do you sometimes just want a little jump? If so, which do you want to do most often, big or small? Do you want to toggle the spacebar, or have 2 separate keys, one for small, one for big? I can then change my binds (maybe not soon) accordingly.

Graht1, It wouldn't be THAT much of a problem, but I'd have to go through the program and add 2 explicit CHR$(34) codes about 36 times. Also, if you make your binds longer than 255 because you have long filenames, they will either just not work, or they'll crash you. I know that is the limit, but not sure what happens if you exceed that. Why not just conform, save me some work, and deal with having a COH directory, eh?

Silent3, Ok, as for having Speed on Demand only in the air... after thinking about it some more, that could be a problem. A little theory on how my binds work. Every time you press or release a direction key, a bind_load_file is executed. It loads a file associated with the combination of keys you're pressing. Binds have no variables, so there is no way of knowing what keys are down except with bind_load_file. An example: You have Forward (F) and Right (R) pressed, so your FR file was loaded. FR binds each key ending with a bind_load_file which loads the file for that new key combo. So FR binds the Left (L) key so that it'll load FRL file, and it binds the R key so it'll load your F file. Because L is a 'new' key it 'adds' it because it knows you're pressing it, and because R is already pressed it 'subtracts' it because you're releasing the key.

So, basically, to do all this on the ground without actually DOing anything seems a bit complicated for nothing, but if I don't do it, then when you entered Fly I wouldn't know which keys are pressed, and if you were running forward when you pressed fly, the binds would be screwed up so you'd be flying forward all the time unless you pressed forward, which would stop you.

The easiest and coolest is just to learn to attack again after you start moving. If you queue up the attack AFTER you start moving, you will attack when you get in range, if you don't stop, which clears the queue. Sprint on Demand is very useful for chasing, running in terror, etc, if you're outside or not. If you really want to have normal movement, just hit CTRL-R, and then switch back later.

Anyway, sorry for saying "no" to several requests (ok, I'm not REAL sorry, but some ), but I'm busy these next few weeks, and I don't see that adding these things really improves the binds a great deal. The SJ on Demand has possibilities, but that'll take more looking into.

  12. This installment of the Life of Jaradesse is brought to you by our proud sponsor, Insomia! Now operating worldwide!

    The 3rd installment

On May 22nd, sometime late afternoon, red lights appeared all over Paragon city. I was down in the laboratory at the time, filling in for an assistant who could not make it that day, and was helping prepare a run on the accelerator. Suddenly, someone came bursting through the doors.
“Everyone, come quick! You have got to see this!” he yelled.
Everyone in the lab just looked at each other.
“Oh come on, there’s all sorts of weird lights all over the place!” He continued.
I was just standing around, waiting to see what the others did. Half of them slowly got up, murmuring to each other, while the other half just sort of stood around doing nothing. I, out of plain curiosity, followed the ones going outside. When I got out the front doors, I was shocked. Every one around me were just looking up at the sky, some of them talking to each other in low voices, others just with a confused look on their faces.
“The hell…?” I heard someone say
“What in the world is that?” Someone else wondered.
“Yeah, it’s gotta be some alien invasion.” Someone said jokingly. Everyone chuckled nervously. None of us believe him at the time, naturally.

After about a half an hour of sharing conspiracy theories, ranging from the alien invasions, to government testing, to someone saying the hippies were trying to beam propaganda down to us (where that came from, I have no idea), we got word that Dr. Jackson, the head of the lab, was holding a meeting. Most of us started back down immediately, while some didn’t budge. I couldn’t say I blamed them. I headed back down though, as a fill-in for an assistant I didn’t want to make anyone mad, and into the conference room, where Dr. Jackson was already sitting with a grim look on his face.
“Please, everyone, take a seat.” He said.
After everyone sat, he looked over all of us.
“I have no idea what’s going on outside, but we must decide if we want to go on with today’s experiment. I personally would say yes, because we are already weeks behind, but I am not a total dictator, so if most of you do not feel comfortable with going on, I’ll cancel the experiment, and give you guys the day off.”
Here were about twenty of us sitting around the table. We all looked at each other, and then started arguing.
“Oh, come on, those things aren’t hurting anyone, we shouldn’t call off something as big as what we’re doing today because of some… searchlights.”
“Are you kidding me? Who knows what those things are? It could be dangerous if any of our equipment got damaged!”
“Bah, we’re a good thirty feet underground, even if something were to happen we wouldn’t have any problems. Plus, we can always shut the machine off if something goes wrong.”
This was obviously going nowhere, and Dr. Jackson realized it.
“Ok, ok, this is obviously going nowhere. I suggest we take a vote. How many of you would like to stay and run the experiment?”
Fifteen people raised their hands, including me. I wasn’t about to give my chance of doing something important around here away.
“Ok, I think we can work with this. Those of you who didn’t raise your hands can go home; I expect to see you back here tomorrow.”
Slowly the five who didn’t raise their hands got up, and started to leave.
“Good luck, guys.” One of them said as she left.

So, the experiment went ahead as planned, albeit a little late. By the time we had gotten started on warming up machines, getting all the equipment tuned right, it was nearing 7pm. It was about a half an hour later when we started up the machine. What happened next is still somewhat of a blur to me.

Explosions. Falling beams. People screaming in pain, and agony, all around me. It had all happened so fast. The machine was running, then we felt the ground shaking, and things just started blowing up.
“ABORT! ABORT!” Dr. Jackson was screaming, and then I heard him no more.
I didn’t know what to do. I was cowering in a corner, just thinking, oh god, please don’t let me die. Then a violent explosion ripped into the accelerator. I remember feeling a sharp pain in my head, and then not being able to see. I don’t know if my body was convulsing or not. I don’t know if I puked or not. That was the last I ever saw of the lab. How I survived, I don’t know.
  13. I have only a few peevs when teaming.

    1) people who don't understand end:
If everyone but that player is on low end and he runs off to draw some aggro... *argh

    2) the horny blaster:
thinks, "well i've got a big gun and lots of end, I'm just going to run off and pull some reds.." also, see above

    3) the thinker:
spends minutes before realising that the whole team have got into a fight, spends another minute deciding what to attack.. spends a few minutes waiting for everyone to run back from the hospital.

    4) the "you're not the boss of me!":
takes no orders/recommendations, often gets killed. Leaves team soon afterwards. I'm not sure why but blasters seem to fall into this category a lot....

  17. [roleplayer]
Well i love this, but the Character Description isnt a Histroyt of your life. I think that the Description should say a short thing about you so that other players know how you are, this can be in roleplay though But dont forget that people read this on the Info thing, there isnt that much room. its a small window.

However, if the devs could make a Character History thing in Atlas park City Hall it would be great, you would go there talk to a City representative(?) and either Update your story or read others by typing in their name. in real life you cant right click on someone and read their life story, however if you were a hero you could go to the police station and read their file.

Btw. i dont allways roleplay, cause its not easy, as none of my characters are typical heroes :P but I do roleplay alot (now i mean overdose ) with 'Shape Changer'
  18. Piyerus : The interrogator in front of Piyerus frowned deeply at the Super Hero. The answers were coming too easily. He needed to let Piyerus know what was going to happen to him if he didn't obey. Pressing a small red button on the mobile lie detector, the clamps around Piyerus' fingers tightened considerably, but not enough to where they caused extreme pain. It was just enough to make Piyerus squirm.

"So, science is responsible for your abilities? And yet, you have no information about these... nanobots?" the man smirked and slowly shook his head from side to side. "Tisk, tisk, tisk. I'm sure you can give us SOME idea where to look for these... nanobots? If you don't have the answers, then who does?"

The interrogator's finger hovered over the red button.

"Speak now," he said, "and think clearly... least I tighten the clamp's grip a little more."

Davis Slate : After the beating, several uneventful minutes trickled by--just like Davis' blood. By the time Lt. Ovilo entered the room, a small crimson puddle had formed around Slate's feet. Lt. Ovilo removed an elegant white handkerchief from the front pocket of her uniform and proceeded to gently wipe the blood from Slate's face.

"Military justice," she said, "for killing their comrads, you understand." She said, clearly in reference to the 5th Column men Slate had killed before he received a stomach full of lead. "Now, on to business. How did you obtain your powers?"

Philbe : Later that evening, after several interrogations had been conducted with varying results, Lt. Ovilo returned to her commander's office and gave its entrance a firm rap. When she received the command to enter, she stepped into the tidy room beyond and observed it with a keen gaze. She admired her commander's discipline. To her, he was a great leader. The 5th Column would go far as long as he was at the helm.

"Sir," she spoke in her characteristically proud German-accented voice. "We have received several leads on how to further increase the efficency of our troops. The most promising lead so far belongs to a technology called nanobots. We are looking into the matter now with a gentleman named Piyerus, sir."
  19. Hi, I've read every post in this thread, nice read. I like learning logistics of games, so hopefully soon, I can offer some.

I'd like to ask something that has been discussed in other threads. My only reason for asking it in this thread as opposed to accepting what I've read from others, is the very strong emphasis on Stamina throughout this thread. One of RSR's original statements is,
"Every blaster should take Stamina. Once again, someone will post with his wonderful tale of his blaster who gets by without it. Good for you. From a powergaming perspective, your character would be better with it."

So i guess mine is a "what about..?" question.. what about Conserve Power? I haven't seen it discussed in this thread, and am wondering what the viewers of this thread think about Conserve Power as an alternative to Stamina. I have a lvl 10 En/En blaster, inexperienced but experienceing I plan on making my en/en a single target blaster. I have combat jump and hasten already (nothing in the Fitness set, so not sure if getting Stamina is worth it at this point, for my intentions). Thanks!

Some special keys can be used in combination with other keys and mouse buttons. These keys are called chord keys -- they do not act as triggers themselves, but can be used with trigger keys to make new triggers.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Short Story
I just realized that this is incorrect, Curve. To my knowledge, you can bind ALT, CTRL, FN, LALT, LCTRL, LSHIFT, RALT, RCTRL, RSHIFT, and SHIFT to perform actions as trigger keys themselves. In fact, the default binds use LALT and RALT as triggers.

    Long Story
I just realized this is incorrect because I had an interesting idea as I was debugging my /team_select cycle key generator. I had to determine what keys I would allow to be valid, and I decided that a chord key in combination with another chord key would be invalid since I thought chord keys couldn't act as triggers. However, as I was processing the default binds to set up a file that would uninstall the /team_select cycle key(s) and re-enable the default binds, I realized that LALT and RALT were being used as triggers. I haven't tested any of the following, but it raised a few interesting questions... What if I were to do something like the following:

    /bind LALT "powexec_name Stealth$$powexec_name Stealth"
    /bind ALT+LALT "powexec_name Hover$$powexec_name Hover"

What happens when I press LALT?
  21. Silent3, so basically you do NOT want to use Sprint on Demand, and toggle it manually on the ground? Seems to defeat the purpose, I'd think, but I suppose you could still FLY on demand. I could add an option for that, but please reply, as I'm not sure I understand what you want.

How about a Combat Jump/Super Jump Bind as well?

    [/ QUOTE ]

These binds should work with any SJ/CJ toggle you have. I made changes a few versions back so Autorun would not change any ++up command you have in from another key, but since this is independent of actual horizonal speed on demand, I decided not to mess with it.

For Example, you could set your J key as follows:
    j "powexec_name super jump$$powexec_name combat jumping"
    This toggles between SJ/CJ.

Then if you use SPACE for your UP key, you might want to setup shift+space as follows:
    lshift+space "++up"

This would keep you jumping without holding the spacebar.

Finally, you could setup lshift+rbutton, if you use the right mousebutton for mouselook, as follows:
    lshift+rbutton "++mouse_look"

So you'd hit your J if you're not already in SJ, your Speed on Demand Autorun key, then hit shift+space, and shift+rbutton and you'd be jumping across the city in no time, moving just the mouse to steer, but holding down no buttons.

This may sound like a lot of buttons, but it's flexible. If you wanted, you could add the ++up and ++mouse_look to your j key, or do something like this:

    c:\coh\jump1.txt:
    j "powexec_name super jump$$powexec_name combat jumping$$powexec_name combat jumping$$++up$$++mouse_look$$bind_load_file c:\coh\jump2.txt"

    j "powexec_name combat jumping$$powexec_name super jump$$powexec_name combat jump$$++up$$++mouse_look$$bind_load_file c:\coh\jump1.txt"

That would set everything at once, but isn't as flexible.

What I'm trying to say is that SJ is independent of the speed on demand, so I didn't interfere with it. It is not possible to toggle both Sprint and SJ ON for autorun, because of the limitations on binding... only 1 command activated per bind, so no help there. Sprint and SS work together because you DON"T want both on at the same time. I presume that you DO use Sprint when SJing for horizontal distance?

Anyway, once I get SJ on my scrapper, and am able to test and experiment, I may find a "best" way that I think everybody might like, and add the option of it to my binds, but until then I really don't want to decide for you how you want it setup.

Disclaimer: The above binds have not been tested. I just saw similar binds in the "Post your binds here" thread, and thought I'd help you out. Please correct me if you notice any mistakes in the above binds.

  22. Update
    1. I'm irked. My pre-order account could not be activated over top of my beta account, and as such my registration code for the live game was naturally applied to my pre-order account. Even though my master PlayNC account has both my inactive beta account and my active live account, my beta forum account was disabled without warning. I'm fine with the Nazi regime mandating an active account to post here, but why must I be punished for either their oversight or simply poor implementation of the pre-order process? Granted, their stellar coding efforts also left me able to "fix" my forum cookie such that I could at least change my display name on my beta account so that I could create this account under the same name. As always, thank you for the wonderful communication concerning matters at hand.
    2. I'm still irked. I logged into the new update (that ironically went live the day after the major monthly billing deadline) last night ready to explore some of the new sugar-coated cosmetic "content" that I've been longing for . . . only to find myself 150k in debt at level 40. Thirty seconds later, my first break from City of Heroes officially began.
    3. Oh yeah, the team_select cycle bind generator that I've been working on... I've been working rather diligently on error checking and modularizing my code so that I can release the source and the built executable to the public. A couple of minor problems along the way have caused me to re-think my approach to the program and there's a ton of functionality I didn't expect already in it. I'm heading out of town tomorrow afternoon for the holiday weekend, but I'm really optomistic that I can get at least some code up for people to analyze/run/steal/whatever. I'm leery to do a public release of the executable until I can test it more extensively myself, so time will tell whether or not I can get this out by Thursday afternoon as well.
  23. Lightning_Fast: You have never answered the question of whether you are using 2 frost breaths to take out these entire packs or not.

Since Ice has no other AE powers, one wonders how anything else could be the case.

The reason folks have doubts is because 2 frost breaths is far slower than fire breath/fireball or flamethrower, and due to this delay it is likely the mobs would be spread out by frost breath #2.
  24. OOC: ((I'd like to RP the 5th Column. Here goes.))

Frost Fiend : Frost Fiend was roused from unconsciousness through the use of another chemical. By now, he had a plethora of drugs running through his system. As the grogginess faded and the stimulant inside him took control of his body, he regained use of his limbs one by one. When the feeling returned to his face, Frost Fiend opened his eyes and saw the image of a female form staring back down at him. With her head tilted slightly to the side, she was observing the pitiful Superhero with a keen gaze. "Looks like another has fallen from grace," she commented. "Welcome to the Path of Illumination." As the woman stepped away, a bright light shined down into Frost Fiend's face. It was the kind of light one would see in a surgery room.

The woman paced around Frost Fiend. She was slender and tall. She wore a firm fitting military outfit that was as black as her raven-colored hair. When she fixed her gaze on Frost Fiend for a second time, it was obvious something wasn't right about her, for her sky-blue eyes simmered with a mysterious secret. "No doubt," she began in a voice that carried a proud German accent, "you are wondering why you are here. To make a long story short, Paragon City is unique to the world in that it produces a surprising amount of heros. The 5th Column would like to know why that is. When we find the answer, we will implement it into our ranks. And when that happens, this city will be ours. What do you think about that, Frost Fiend?" Trailing off, the woman smirked and idly played with a small scalpel in her hands.

Patriot Strike : The commotion caused by Piyerus had several 5th Column members stirring about in the shadows of the ally. As the one on fire put himself out, he scolded himself for allowing himself to be hit by the fledgling Super Hero. Cursing loudly in a gruff voice, he sighed and stepped out of the ally and into the blistering sunlight to make sure no one had seen the event which had just transpired. Several concerned citizens turned and fled after gawking into the ally. What they saw was about a dozen 5th Columns members dragging Piyerus' body into the back of a parked car. When the trunk slammed shut, the car peeled out and sped away. The remaining 5th Column members regrouped and proceeded to set another trap for the next Super Hero. No doubt, this would require a change of location. It wouldn't be long before one of those concerned citizen notified another Super Heros about what had happened. As the 5th Column soldier with the charred uniform took one long last look at the horizon to make sure the coast was clear, he was supried to see Patriot Strike charging towards him. It seemed a Super Hero had been notified faster than he had expected. "Psst!" He said over his shoulder. "We got company. Put the operation on hold. We'll move to the next location after we take care of this next joker." And with that, about a dozen 5th Column members spilled out of the ally and readied their weapons. "Ready!" The squad leader spoke as soon as he caught sight of Patriot Strike's fast-approaching form. "Aim!" The men trained their sights on the woman and pressed the butts of their rifles into their shoulders. "FIRE!"

Piyerus : Soon after Piyerus' addition to the underground 5th Column prision, an interrogator stepped into his cell and hooked him up to a mobile lie detector. "I'm going to ask you some questions," the man said in a voiced that made it sound like he did this sort of thing on a routine basisi. "If you lie or refuse to answer my questions I will take this device here and slowly press it around your fingers, tighting centimeter by centimeter with each lie you tell me, until your fingers have been crushed." The interrogator raised the device into the air and waved it curiously in front of Piyerus' face. "Now," the man continued as he slipped the device around Piyerus' fingers, "when did you first realize your you were a so-called Super Hero?"
  25. Excellently written, i would also like to see an official roleplaying server, hell just making virtue the official one would be enough.

However if a new server opened up with a Roleplay Preferred tag next to it i would reroll there in a heartbeat.
