Ex please take the time to do a general web search for the names of the previous owner of the dog. The info on the micro-chip is enough to use the web to find the place of the current owner. If nothing else you can pay a research company about $25-$75 to get current information. Most decent people who love their animals enough to get them chipped are willing to pay for most costs associated with getting back a member of their family.

We are doing what we can, unfortunately I am leaving town to spend time with the family for the holidays and the local animal shelter confirmed to me that after about five days she would be put down.
I've got ad's out and posters up near where I found here, but the area is remote, the data on the chip is out dated, and the chip was placed by the original shelter that adopted her out, the same one that said she would be put down.
So all in all, it appears as though she has been abandoned, but there is enough contact information that any family really trying to find her, should have no trouble at all locating her.
I know for me, I wouldn't sleep if any of my pet family were missing. Considering I picked her up on Monday, and have heard nothing from the shelters, ad's, or posters, I needed to find a short term solution.
At any rate, any person who becomes her care-giver is getting an incredible animal.

Wonderful feedback, it helps us know what we can do to get the most mileage out of the effort.

An excellent idea and I hope you raise LOADS.
Is there any chance that some of the awesome stuff you have like Lord Recluse statues etc.. could ever be raffled in future? For those of us who would like to support the charity but can't run to hundreds of $$$, it'd give us poorer guys a chance of owning great stuff and I'm sure that loads and loads of us would buy a ticket or two.
Might even raise more then an auction.
[/ QUOTE ]
That is a great idea, I am talking with the powers that be over on this end, we would like to get involved with a few more charities and perhaps do something a few times a year to benefit different organizations.
So we will see what comes around.

More pictures coming...
Update on the gorgeous girl pit! I dropped her off at a dog grooming center last night that has many resources for adoption that do not include euthanasia. She has a micro chip but searches resulted in expired numbers and old data. She is very healthy, at least 2 years old and was seemingly well taken care of but lacks basic training so she will need an owner that can give some direct care over time.
As far as aggression, my labs are far more likely to be a problem than this girl, but again that comes down to responsible owners. I have no doubt that if she were to fight that she would be a tanker, she is a full bodied, short, saffy/red nose mix and is very strong; but she thinks she is a lap dog!
I didn't name her or call her anything as I didn't want to confuse her or bond! My dogs were already upset at my interaction with the beautiful girl.
When she is adopted out, the grooming shop promised to call and let me know the details. So I'll keep you posted.

Great idea! That Lord recluse statue is hella nice.
I just wish they would offer international shipping, even if it was an extra few dollars for the winning bidder.
Being an ebayer and living in Canada, it's a HUGE annoyance to see something I really want, and then read that it ships ONLY to the US.

For those of you in the UK, I am pretty sure there are some great charities that are UK bound and that our EU team would love to support.
Feel free to email me at exlibris@ncsoft.com and I can contact our EU community team and send the feedback along.
I'm really happy to see all the support for this, Cuppa Jo deserves all the props on this side, she has been our Community Rep doing all the work behind the scenes for NCsoft, hopefully we will get a quicker jump next year and have a lot more items out there to raise funds and support.

If you haven't seen it already, some videos have been posted in the General Discussion forum showing how to complete the run in under 25 seconds:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....;gonew=1#UNREAD
Hopefully that will help.
As a note, it is virtually impossible to do the run with Fly. You will literally do better by turning it off and using only Sprint, because you need the velocity that you pick up from your feet being on the ice. -

A purchasable power that lasted for 10 or 15 minutes - one that you could re-purchase and one that you could control when you use it and when you don't - would be hugely preferable in my opinion.

This already exists in-game. Walk into Siren's Call and buy it from the merchant standing near the entrance. Granted, it is only available if your side is winning in SC at the time, so this isn't a perfect solution. But it does work, if you don't have access to Super Jump, a Zero-G Pack, or Inertial Reduction at all. -

Food & Recipies
Happy Holidays!
Well, it's that time of the year again. It's time to go out with the family to
get a Christmas tree, sing carols, make those gingerbread houses and cookies
for the family, dinner, exchanging gifts and much more! This week, I am just
going to give you a few recipe ideas. I hope that will help you plan a meal
that your family wont forget!
But first!
I was curiously wandering around Paragon to ask folks what holiday traditions
they have. Personally, I will be working probably on Christmas Eve. Luckily, we
are only open until 5pm. After that, Ill probably play CoH and then sleep. On
Christmas day, Ill head to my mother-in-laws and have dinner and open gifts.
My husband, on the other hand, will be working probably. The joys of security.
But, someones gotta do it, right?
Here are a few holiday traditions from people in Paragon:
Neuttrino
Well, spending Christmas Eve and Christmas day with family and close friends.
We also watch A Christmas Storyit never gets old. Besides cooking for
hours just to devour it in minutes, and my dad telling us stories of us when we
where kids it embarrasses the heck outta us, but makes us laugh, that's about
it.
Gyffes
Well, a week before Christmas, we bake cookies. Then usually two days before
Christmas, we go to my grandmothers and come back home by Christmas Eve. We
then open presents Christmas Day and have all our family in the area over for
Christmas lunch. Nothing really big and huge. We are pretty low key.
Power Line
I always do it with my family. One year, it will be with my mom's side of the
family, another year, with my dad's. We alternate back and forth because of
having to travel. We do make this stuff called "Divinity." Im honestly not
sure if it's actually a recipe, or if my family just named it that, but it's
basically pure sugar melted/boiled into water. It gets so hot that it thickens
a bit. Sounds disgusting, I know, but we take it and put it on wax paperonly
little spoonfulsand when it eventually cools down and hardens, it's soft and
really sugary, and good. But other then those two things, it's just mainly
opening presents. I can't say we're too steeped into tradition with my family
though.

Holiday Food
Rosemary Roasted Turkey
3/4 cup olive oil
3 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
salt to taste
1 (12 pound) whole turkey
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic, rosemary, basil, Italian seasoning,
black pepper and salt. Set aside.
Wash the turkey inside and out; pat dry. Remove any large fat deposits. Loosen
the skin from the breast. This is done by slowly working your fingers between
the breast and the skin. Work it loose to the end of the drumstick, being
careful not to tear the skin.
Using your hand, spread a generous amount of the rosemary mixture under the
breast skin and down the thigh and leg. Rub the remainder of the rosemary
mixture over the outside of the breast. Use toothpicks to seal skin over any
exposed breast meat.
Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan. Add about 1/4 inch of water to
the bottom of the pan. Roast in the preheated oven 3 to 4 hours, or until the
internal temperature of the bird reaches 180 degrees F (80 degrees C).
Mapled Ham
1 (4 pound) boneless ham
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple slices, canned in syrup
10 whole cloves
2 cups water
1 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
[censored] the ham with a fork. Place the pineapple slices on the ham, securing with
toothpicks. Press the cloves into the ham. Place the ham in a baking dish with
the water.
In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter, and mix in the syrup, brown
sugar, and honey until heated through. Pour 1/2 the mixture over the ham.
Bake the ham 1 hour and 30 minutes in the preheated oven. Baste frequently with
the remaining butter and syrup mixture.
Remove the ham from heat, and drain pan drippings into a saucepan over medium
heat. Cook and stir until thickened, and serve with the ham.
Ginger Snap Cookies
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground ginger
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup dark molasses
1/3 cup cinnamon sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Sift the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt into a mixing bowl.
Stir the mixture to blend evenly, and sift a second time into another bowl.
Place the shortening into a mixing bowl and beat until creamy. Gradually beat
in the white sugar. Beat in the egg, and dark molasses. Sift 1/3 of the flour
mixture into the shortening mixture; stir to thoroughly blend. Sift in the
remaining flour mixture, and mix together until a soft dough forms. Pinch off
small amounts of dough and roll into 1 inch diameter balls between your hands.
Roll each ball in cinnamon sugar, and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased
baking sheet.
Bake in preheated oven until the tops are rounded and slightly cracked, about
10 minutes. Cool cookies on a wire rack. Store in an air tight container.
As far as sides go, you can make mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, roasted
carrots with brown sugar and butter, and stuffing.
Next week: New Years Eve ideas!
See you next week!

Letter from the Editor
By
Lemur Lad
One of my mottoes has always been "real life comes first" when it comes to
dealing with obligations like playing this game or the City Scoop. All through
this run as Editor in Chief, I've never hesitated to say that when someone has
something come up and they fret over getting their work for the Scoop done.
Never has it been brought home to me more than in the last couple of weeks when
the amount of time I've had to play and to work on the Scoop have both nearly
disappeared. I feel bad that I've not been there to help and to make the
decisions and do the things I've wanted to do to improve the Scoop every week,
but I'm proud of the fact that things went on without me, and that it wasn't
the end of the world. I'm taking this space this week to do two things: First,
apologize to the Scoop staff for dropping off the table, apologize to the
readers who sent me things before my PM box filled, and everyone who tried and
failed to contact me. Second, a reminder to everyone who plays and enjoys this
game.
Make sure you take the time to put real life first. Especially this time of
year, don't neglect family and friends in favor of time spent here. I speak
from personal experience when I say that it's all too easy for someone you
think will always be there to suddenly be in risk of being taken away before
you get to say and do the things you ought to have done earlier. So take the
time to have fun here in the pretend world, but strike a good balance with the
real world and maybe skip a couple things you wouldn't normally skip in game to
spend time with some real friends and family.
I'm back, my PM box is cleaned out, and I'm open for business again. I'll be in
touch with people individually over this week if I haven't already, but I'm
hoping that almost everything I do is held up because everyone is off enjoying
the real life pleasures of this holiday season.
Best early holiday wishes to everyone,
Chris Blake, aka Lemur Lad

Base Showcase
By
born2luz
This week, we visit Protector and Infinity, and take a look at two smaller hero
bases.
Masters of
Debt
Who is your base designer and who are your supergroup leaders?
Design by Ura Hero. Led by Jolan, Shesa Heroine, and Ura Hero.
Which server is your base on?
Protector
When was your supergroup established?
3/24/2006
How many players are in your supergroup?
Four regular core members. We have other members who are not steady players and
come and go.
What is the approximate value of your base?
5 million prestige
How much time do you spend working on your base? How much time
have you invested so far?
The base design is solid until new base details are released. So far Id say I
have spent about thirty to forty hours in various incarnations trying different
things out.
What is your favorite base item? Least favorite?
Favorite item is the teleporters. I love being able to hit the base to go to
other zones. Least favorite is the lack of variety of decorative items.
What is your favorite thing about base editing? Least
favorite?
Completing a layout, standing back and hoping that the SG and coalition members
enjoy it. I least enjoy the restrictions for item placement for base raiding.
What do you mean I cant put that here? Arrrgggghhh!
What would be highest on your wish-list for new base items?
More details that arent huge! Give us more knick-knack stuff for the walls and
desks, as well as a few more lighting options. Id love to see a Wentworths
terminal for the workshop or control room.
If you could give just one piece of advice to a new
base-editor, what would it be?
Plan, plan, plan. I did everything wrong in the beginning with room and item
placement. I finally ended up deleting 90% of the stuff in the base and totally
revamping it to what it looks like now after spending several hours borrowing
ideas from other bases. Visit the forum base building section for some kicking
ideas. Some great designers hang out there.
Anything else you'd like to add about your SG, your base or
the base system in general?
Build your base like you want. If it is all frills, then go for decoration. If
functional is your style, then make it functional. Most of all, make it yours.
The Rogues' Gallery
Who is your base designer and who are your supergroup leaders?
The SG is a one-person deal. I (BCP) am the base designer and leader.
Which server is your base on?
Infinity
When was your supergroup established?
Sometime around February of 2007
How many players are in your supergroup?
Everyone in the SG is an alt of about four real-life players.
What is the approximate value of your base?
About 2 million prestige.
How much time do you spend working on your base? How much time have you
invested so far?
Too much time, really. Over the summer, it became a full-time job with me
investing close to three hours some weeks. I've put more than the play time of
a single character into it, mostly in revisions and fine-tuning.
What is your favorite base item? Least favorite?
Favorite: Bookshelves!
Least favorite: Base teleporters (so limiting!)
What is your favorite thing about base editing? Least favorite?
Most: The creative process. I think, like most base designers, this is my
outlet for the creative urge that tugs at me near-constantly.
Least: Raid rules, of course. Nothing hampers a designer's style quite like
raid rules.
What would be highest on your wish-list for new base items?
More decorative items and more rustic-looking pieces. The power-builders can
have the functional stuff, I want more character.
If you could give just one piece of advice to a new base-editor, what would
it be?
Don't plan early. Experiment early. Don't get too attached to your experimental
base, though: once you know how to torque the base editor, a solid groundwork
before starting out will save you a lot of headache later. Modularity is the
key to easy alteration.
Anything else you'd like to add about your SG, your base or the base system
in general?
To the base builders: think on the small scale. Picture yourself in your base.
Don't be afraid to micro-manage to make your base look as natural as possible.

Meet 'n'
Greet
Milpitas or Bust
By LadyK
Some of the crew at NCSoft
It may sound like a bad joke, "a UI designer, a corrections
officer and a chef walk in to a bar," but trust me, it was the start of a
rocking evening. Even being faced by a serpentine
wall of the finest people in all of gamedom, whom, by the end of the
night became 300 or so of my closest friends, I was undaunted. Dave &
Buster's is an awesome place, however, filled to past capacity with people from
as close a Milpitas, San Jose and Riverside to as far a way as Melbourne and
Perth (a funny story, I hope you enjoy your shirts, guys), it is "six
slotted"-ly so.
One of the first friends that I was able to catch up with was Ex
Libris, who immediately pointed out Mantid, the City Scoop's lay out/programing
guru. About that time the "Sea of humanity" was thinning out as our
registration was picking up speed. The only personal snags happened
when my husband and my badges weren't there, and my friend was wearing her
husbands name. This turned out to be another funny story, but more on that
later. On my way to finding the other "Scoopies," I saw a table of folks rather
excited to meet David Nakayama. This smiling bunch turned out to be the Super
Group "The
Dark Ones, and they were more than happy to pose with their screen
shots. Then it was on to the upper deck to finally meet all the
City Scoopers and a few other friends from the
boards: Muad Dib, Kitten of Chaos, and Robo Bug.
Hanging out on the billiards deck, I turned around to see the
second sexiest man at the Meet and Greet (my husband being the first), Jay,
taking on all comers on the green felt. Behind the eight ball,
Jay re-enacted the winning shot of his previous game. Within a few
moments, the doors opened to the "Red Room," and the meeting and greeting took
to new heights. I cannot even try to describe the feelings of standing next to
Mr. Nakayama all night, watching him coax the images off of the blank
paper. It was inspiring. I do want to say "thank you" to all the folks who let
us sign their comic books, even if I think I devalued them.
Standing at the Meet and
Greet tables with the nuts I begun to call family over the last six months was
one of my highlights. Getting hugs and leans from Dirtwolf and Pantsy was great
fun. Chatting it up with Marcian and Mantid and getting "heys" and "good jobs"
from the community really bolstered us all. Running into the "big names," the
"rednames," and my fellow players was amazing. Though the real show stopper was
Ghost Widow. She even took on "The
J-Crew" and looked a little overwhelmed.
Player vs. Radio was there with a live web cast and
SexyJay, War Witch,
Manticore and Positron were signing and schmoozing.
Sexy Jay
The biggest news came at the Q & A session. The "City
Vault" was revealed in all its gloryan amazing database that will take
the guess work out of finding players and characters offline. Lighthouse did
reiterate that it is an option to take part in "The City Vault," and by
disabling a few options on our in-game UI, any player can remain anonymous if
they want. Jay also received "ohs" and "ahs" when he revealed a little pet
project of his. The
Jester and
Enforcer costume sets sent "geek-gasims" throughout the crowd.
As players came up for the
Q&A, JayDogg, the master of AV for the night, did his best to show
how "The City Vault" worked by looking up the questioners information. There
were some connectivity issues with Dave & Busters wi-fi system, but all in
all, the demo was amazing. The moral of the "City Vault" demo was "always have
an offline backup." As for the questions themselves, most were "What's next?"
Unfortunately, due to legal issues and stern looks from "The Marketing Guy,"
most of the answers were, "Maybe," "Soon(tm)," and the ever popular, "Now
that would be cool, wouldn't it?"
After the Q&A, Positron, Ex Libris, War Witch and Lighthouse
participated in an organized chaos known as "The
Raffle." While Ex and Lighty were doing their best "Vana
White" impressions, Posi, War Witch, and a few others were trying
desperately not to pick sequential numbers from the "Ice Bucket of Chance."
Several thousand dollars of rare items were given away, en masse. Things from
"Auto Assault" car kits to IR mouses to "GvE" to David Nakayama original
panels. As the D&B staff were trying desperately to remove the 400+ people
from the room, NCsoft had one more little gift for us: goodie bags. These bags
were stuffed with Tabula Rosa pre-orders, Lineage II demos, a "City of
Villains" cape, a bumper sticker and a Black Scorpion Hero Clix. Not in the
bag, but just as cool, was an NCsoft T-shirt, sized as you got your bag.
As the night wound down and I returned to my husband and my
friend, the most exciting thing happened to me. There was
Manticore chatting up my friend as if they were old buddies. It turned
out that they were. At one point in time, Manticore was a roommate of my
friend's husband. Dumbfounded, I listened in to the conversation and got a
wonderful sense of who Sean Fish really is and his process of writing the
characters and story lines of the "City of" universe.
The only true glitch in the night was that D&B had no idea
what they had gotten themselves into. This could be seen by the lack of plates
and food at the buffet. But for free, who is really going to complain?

Meet and Greet Experiences
By Pants Stealer
What an incredible event! Ive never been to any kind of
convention before, so this was a great way to initiate me into that kind of
setting. I was really overwhelmed at how many people showed upnot to mention
how many people stopped by the City Scoop table to praise us and get our
autographs. I was beyond flattered when I was asked to sign peoples
comicsenough to think, You know Im not a dev, right?
We asked everyone that stopped by our table to email us their
thoughts about the event if they had the time. Heres what they had to say:
Players
Since the advent of issue 11 only a few days earlier than the Meet & Greet
in Milpitas, California, I have tried to find out the general rule for ultra
rare superior recipes dropping. I asked around the game a few times, asked
within channel Chrome Support and no one had an answer beyond 'it says level
50.' At the M&G, I took a chance and bailed up Castle right after the event
formally finished. I suspected already that the text should read 50+ but that
someone along the way had forgotten this important piece of information.
I approached Castle and
proffered my question for himwhat is the rule behind the new purple recipes?
His first response, too, was level 50 kills. I smiled and expanded on my
questionif you take a level 50 critter and add a difficulty setting of
Invincible or Relentless, the critter becomes level 52. In terms of computing,
50 is definitely not the same as 52. Does difficulty change the chance for a
purple ultra rare?
David Nakayama
A look of realization dawned over Castle's face, and he nodded to
himself. His response? I am 90% sure its 50+, but you will have to ask Posi.
Given how busy Positron would be with the aftermath of a great
event, I haven't asked him for an official response. But from Castle's own
reaction, I would say that there have been a couple of internal discussions on
the subject as well. I'm sure as time passes, it will be obviously 50 or 50+,
but its interesting to see how something so obvious can be misconstrued even
with dedicated people!

So as I was trolling the forum boards to make sure I hadnt
missed any important news, I noticed Pants post regarding submitting a
paragraph or two about your experience (or favorite memory) of the San Jose
Meet and Greet. While I do have some favorite memories/experience stories to
sharea few even fit for polite companyone of the most pleasant memories I
brought back was meeting all of yall, and finally putting some faces to the
names. It was great seeing everyone, and seeing how many people had a great
time.

So, first of all, it was a great night all around. My husband
(Armitage), our friend Michael (Dark Caudecean), and I drove down from
Fairfield. Thats about an hour west of Sacramento. When it was time to move to
the big room, we snagged up the Guardian table. Met some new Guardianites and
also got to meet Pepsiman in person (He really did *poke* the Guardian table).
Michael got his number called for the raffle. He won a super awesome
Autoassault car kit. On his way down to claim his prize, he stopped by Sexy Jay
and thanked him for his hard work. Next thing we know, Sexy is hugging him. I
dont mean a typical man hug pat on the back hug. I mean a big bear hug.
Michael gets back to the table, and we were like do you know him? Michael said,
No. All I did was thank him. Goes to show a thank you can go a long way. We
should all thank the devs for a great night.

Another year, another Meet & Greet! When I mentioned to
Positron our first meeting and Howie's in 2006, he replied, That was ages
ago! It certainly feels like that, not only with the game updates since then,
but also with this year's Meet & Greet. Hands-down, this event blew the OC
M&G out of the water! There was so much fun, and enough free food to feed a
hungry band of gamers after a long drive or flight. The devs are really
down-to-earth, easy-going people who have a passion about the game and our
input as players. Finally, getting to see the new studio head, Brian, and
hearing his words about the future of the game, was very promising for things
to come in the world of City of. It was also a blast meeting players from the
Scoop and the boards for the first time in real life, and realizing everyone at
the event has the same love of the game as you do. And who says gamers aren't
social?
The gift bags and giveaways were just icing on the cake. Despite
Team PR's arduous and harrowing journey, we all agree that it was definitely
worth the trip. We won't soon forget the awesomeness of this event! Here's
hoping for another great event next year!

Developers
I had Ex Libris forward a few questions on to the developers with the hope that
they might tell us about their M&G experience, and to my delight, War Witch
and Pohsyb replied:
Positron
Melissa Bianco (aka War Witch) had this to say:
What was your initial impression upon seeing the crowd? Was it
what you expected?
I think as I wandered into Dave and Busters and saw a HUGE lineup of players
threw me more than anything. My jaw dropped and I went, Wow. People flew in
for this! It was wild! I mean, it was amazing how many people were already
there! I was so excited and nervous about meeting everyone! I forget, in my
day-to-day work-life, that people other than me play this game, so to put a
face and a name to a player was really exciting for me. I loved how people
wrote over their name tags with their character names. It was really cool.
What was your favorite part of the evening?
Hands down, the best part of the evening was sitting next to Jay (SexyJay) at
the signing table and talking to players and taking pictures! That was so much
fun! I had a fantastic time, and next time, Im going to bring my own camera.
So if someone doesnt have a camera, I can take a picture for them! You really
get to know someone when youre crushing them in bear hug for a picture! It was
great! Plus, it made me feel neat that players would want to talk to me or have
me sign something for them. Its so flattering; I cant even begin to describe
how surreal it is for me. Next time, Im going to bring my own autograph book
(remember those things?) and get everyone to sign MY book as I sign theirs so I
can have a memory of events like these.
Are you looking forward to the next one?
Are you kidding me? Sign me up! Fly me out! Lemme at em! I love to meet
people, especially our players becauseI am utterly CONVINCEDthat we have the
best players of any MMO in existence. Its probably biased to say that, but I
dont care. Everyone was so kind and fun and excited about the game it was an
utter joy to meet every single one of them! I wish the event was a weekend
thing so I would have had more time to just sit back and really hang out with
people and get to know them, find out about their characters, and what brings
them to the City of game week after week. Lets just say I have a valid
passport, and I love to travel, so if someone is willing to send me somewhere,
Im willing to goevery single time! I wouldnt miss it for the world!
-Melissa Bianco
(aka War Witch)
And from the long-winded and eloquent CW Bennett (aka Pohsyb):
What was your initial impression upon seeing the crowd? Was it
what you expected?
I was amazed that many people were there.
What was your favorite part of the evening?
Carbombs, even though they were nasty.
Are you looking forward to the next one?
Positively.
Heroes and Villains unmasked

The City Traveler
Hi
everyone. It's me, Belle! I'm terribly sorry about having Tango fill in for the
previous article, but you know how tensions have been running high between
Vanguard and Longbow lately. I had to help out with a few things, but I'm back
now! I think he did a great job and I really appreciate the help!
This week, in honor of the first anniversary of the first phase Overbrooks
renovation, and in the spirit of taking trips back in time, I wanted to write a
little bit about the zone a lot of heroes call Faultline.
But first, I did want to make a few comments about Tango's article. Can you
believe that he was acting like he was giving away our Taxibot secrets? That's
so funny! We don't really have any secrets. We'll share what we've learned with
anyone who might be interested in knowing! We're kind of like...well, open
source teleportation professionals, I guess! Not only do we telezone fares, and
sometimes even use the Teleportation Attack Sequence (although I don't
personally use that very often, I don't much care for fighting!), but we
sometimes use 'port swapping and 'port circles, badge tour chains, GPS units,
and other such techniques to locate places around Paragon City,. If you ever
have any questions, just let me know and I'll gladly answer them!
Also, he showed a picture of a location where the Moretti family was
considering opening a branch of the Monkey Fight Club but never did and told
everyone to "bug Belle" about where it is. Well, the joke is on him, because I
LOVE it when people "bug" me! It was a good question, tooprobably better than
the ones I come up with. The location shown is in the northwest section of Port
Oakes, up in Villa Montrose. Silverspar, Star_Empath, and TayJK all answered
correctly.
He really is a sweetheart, though he likes everyone to think he's so tough, and
I appreciate him filling in for me. If anyone wants, maybe I can ask him to
write some more articles when he has time. They'll probably be about the Rogue
Isles, since that is his backyard, but I'll bet he has a lot of neat things to
talk about too!
Free coffee for officers and heroes!
Oh, before I write about Overbrook, I wanted to mention that I hope everyone
had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with lots of food and family and friends!
Being a robot, I don't really have to eat for energy, but I can if I want to,
and so I did! Of course, the best part was enjoying time with everyone. I
worked a little bit that day and the day after, but it wasn't that bad, and at
least, even when I'm working, I get to see the wonderful heroes of the city. Do
villains ever rest, even on holidays? I don't think so! We have lots of
leftover turkey and pumpkin pie. If you find yourself around our base, be sure
to stop by.
Let's see, wasn't there something else I wanted to talk about? Oh, yes!
Overbrook!
In case you missed it, last Wednesday (November 28) was the first anniversary
of the completion of the first phase Overbrooks renovation. Before the
renovation, the zone was a mess. Faultline had caused massive seismic damage at
the hands of PsiCurse's PsychoChronoMetron, and the Vahzilok, Clockwork, and
Circle of Thorns had all but destroyed the last vestiges of what had once been
a bustling community.
There are now lots of interesting things to see in Overbrook, and if you
haven't been there yet, I highly recommend going and taking a look! The old
Drenched Donuts has reopened, and they've rebuilt some of the old luxury
apartment buildings and condominiums that lined the streets of old Overbrook.
Several exploration markers are in Overbrook. I won't talk about all of them,
but I thought I would point out a really neat one. While developing the
renovated areas of Overbrook, some of the developers created a little lounge
where they could just hang out during breaks.
Now, they don't go by very often, but the lounge is still there. It's called
the Cryptic Lounge, and it is hidden below Freight Lift C in the zone. To get
there, take the freight lift down, and go down the ramp just outside the lift
doors at the bottom. To get into the lounge, you need to walk behind some
crates stacked under the ramp. I've included a picture of me standing behind
the boxes so you can see where to go to find the entrance. Just keep walking
behind those boxes until you come to it.
Entrance to the Cryptic Lounge
I've had a few heroes ask how to get on the other side of the dam to the
reservoir. There are actually two ways: a really easy way and a really hard
way. The first way is through the Faultline Utility Company building, located
east of the dam. The entrance to the building is at the top of Freight Lift F.
Once inside, head west until you come out the other side. The other way is
through a tunnel. The tunnel entrance is just north of Freight Lift H. After
exiting the top of the lift, walk across the bridge, and once on the other
side, turn right and walk north along the fence until you see the tunnel on
your left.
Be careful if you take the tunnel. It's really twisty inside and easy to get
lost in. At the first intersection you come to, turn right (west). At the
second intersection, turn left (south). At the third, go straight (south) and
you'll come out at the reservoir. Just remember that pattern: right, left, then
straight, and you should be fine. Going back, the pattern is straight, right,
and then left at the intersections. Don't get them confused!
I have a couple of more hints for heroes in the area. If you get a mission in
the northwest business district and it looks like it's undergroundwell, you're
right, it is underground! To get to it, follow the line of buildings on the
south side of the concourse until you see the street down below. The street
leads to an underground parking area, and that is probably where your mission
is located.
Entrance to the underground parking deck
I've heard that Numina has sent some hero task forces in search of Vahzilok to
defeat in Faultline. They've reported to me that although the Vahzilok are
really hard to find, they do tend to come out at night. So if you can't find
any, just wait until after sunset, and you should see some around, especially
near some of the construction sites in the northwest.
Well, I suppose I should wrap up now. Before I do, I wanted to mention that if
you happen to go see Jimmy Temblor, read the plaque on the sculpture next to
him.
Oh, and since we've been having fun with questions, I'll ask this one about
Overbrook. There are a total of eight exploration markers in the zone, which
used to be the most in any zone. Before the renovation, though, there were only
four. Which four were the original Faultline exploration markers? And for bonus
points, which zone had the most markers before the renovation, and how many
does it have? If you know,
send me your answers. Until next time, byeee!

The City Scoop
The Man with the Poison Sting
Vol. I, Issue XXIX
December 7th, 2007
I was sitting in the Pocket D for the first time in a long time. I
had missed the beats that DJ Zero cranks out, the guy who can't handle his
booze puking in the corner, and the Carnies dancing in the cages. Lord Recluse
sent me to some God awful duty station in the middle of nowhere, and I managed
to sneak away for a few drinks. Man...cellphones don't work, no way to keep in
touch with the Corps...it was brutal. I wonder what I did to tick him off?
Anyway, I was having a pomegranate martini (my personal favorite) when this guy
in crimson tights and a lion's mask walks in. He had a bow slung over one
shoulder and a quiver of arrows over the other. Oh my God! It was Manticore! I
nearly choked on the raspberry that came with my drink.
I turned away and stared resolutely at my drink, stirring it with
the swizzle stick, hoping he wouldn't notice me. I really didnt think hed
forgotten about that time I dropped a Shivan Decimator on his head and watched
it beat him to a pulp. I was acting on orders that day! Like he'd believe that.
I figured that he'd probably challenge me to a cage match and skewer me a few
times with those arrows of his.
Then he started walking my way! Oh crap. I think he wanted to talk to me or
something...or manually jab an arrow between my shoulder blades. He's probably
got one that can pierce Rikti alloy.
Manticore: If you're here to start trouble, I
recommend heading back to the Rogue Isles before I send you back...in a box.
Kahlan D'Rane: Th...that Shivan, it wasn't mine!
It was Clarisse's! She was even giggling as it beat you up!
Manticore: Look, Ive had plenty of defeats in my
life, and Im sure Ill have plenty more. It really doesnt matter how many
times you get knocked down. What matters is how many times you stand back up.
Kahlan D'Rane: Oh, okay. So no hard feelings?
Pulling his bow off his back and casually leaning on it, Manticore
flashed his patented wicked grin at me.
Manticore: Well, there werent any, but now that
you reminded me...
I decided it was time to change topics.
Kahlan D'Rane: So, just out of curiosity, how did
you get into crime fighting?
Manticore: My parents were killed by a psychotic
madman. I wanted to become a useless sack of flesh but my governess had a
different idea. So she taught me to use a bow.
Looking at the bow in his hands, the archer shrugged.
Manticore: Never quite figured out that logic,
but it worked, so who am I to argue?
Kahlan D'Rane: Do you know what happened to
Protean once you handed him over to the authorities after rescuing the city
from Null and the Shadow Queen?
Manticore: I know exactly what happened to him.
He got put into the system and flushed out the other side...back into
circulation where he could kill more people. I was almost one of them.
Fortunately I have some solid friends who wouldnt let that happen. I repaid
their favor by making sure Protean wont make it back onto the streets so
easily this time.
Kahlan D'Rane: Interesting. So about the whole
working with Lord Recluse thing...does that mean you're gonna be hanging out
over in the Rogue Isles? How did your old lady handle the news?

Letter from the Editor
Manticore: I see you are every bit as well
informed as most Arachnos puppets. My alliance with Arachnos came to a
crashing halt when I prevented them from killing Psyche. Cozying up to Recluse
was simply the most efficient way of defusing his plan. Not that a certain
immortal known for drinking from wells could decipher that. Oh and one more
thing, the next time you call her my old lady, Im gonna let her know you
said it.
I mumbled that Psyche probably already knew.
Kahlan D'Rane: No need to get testy.
I motioned to the bartender.
Kahlan DRane: Excuse me, bartender. Can you get
him whatever he wants? He's getting grumpy.
Manticore: Ill pass on the drink. Ill have one
with you the day you decide to leave Arachnos. Things are actually a lot
smoother in the Phalanx these days. Statesman has mellowed out some, Positron
has found a very clear purpose, and obviously things with Psyche are really
good. Synapse is well Synapse. (laughter) Weve been remembering the things
that made us a good team in the first place.
Kahlan D'Rane: I really don't think Alpha-One
will let me go that easily. I guess he thinks I'm useful or something. So, can
I get a bit of gossip out of you? How did the wedding go? It was so hush-hush.
Any pictures? I might be a villain, but I'm still a girl, you know. I get all
soft and weak about weddings.
Manticore: We havent had it yet, but when we do,
Im sure itll be a blow out. While were on the topic, girls arent the only
ones who can be romantic. For example, who would you guess is more touchy-feely
between me and Psyche?
Kahlan D'Rane: Um, I'm not gonna go there.
I stared at some fletching sticking out from Manticore's quiver
and felt a nervous twitch between my shoulderblades.
Kahlan DRane: So, out of all those arrows in
there, what's your favorite one to use?
Manticore: The one that gets the job done. Next
question.
Kahlan D'Rane: Who are your favorite thugs to
bring in? I heard you have a serious hate-on for Crey.
Manticore: My feelings about Crey are personal.
Objectively, they arent any worse than any of the other villains out
there your boss included. From my point of view? They are mind, body, and world
violating scum being led down a very dark path by an egomaniacal madwoman.
Kahlan D'Rane: Yeah that Countess Crey is a
real...well...I don't care for her much. Do you ever go after well...bigger
game? Like...other villains such as myself?
Manticore: Relax, youre safe in here but you
really just asked two questions. Do I go after bigger game? Heres the
answer define bigger. You never know where the greatest evil is coming from.
Todays petty thug could be tomorrows overlord.
Dont look so surprised. You think I havent heard about the Destined Ones ?
Maybe youre the next Recluse. Hero or Villain, we all think were right in
this business. It takes a special kind of ego to throw on tights or metal
plates and fight for what we believe in.
Now, your other question. Whether I will ever have to hunt you down...that is
entirely up to you.
Kahlan D'Rane: No, I'm nowhere near being the
next Recluse. Just a humble Mord-Sith stuck here trying to make her way.
I dug out a note that had been stuffed into an awkward place.
Kahlan DRane: This is from Liquid X...I'm not
responsible for it's content. I'll read it to you. Is Sister Psyche any good
I quickly crumpled up the note.
Kahlan D'Rane: Okay, I won't be asking that
question.
Manticore: Seems like there might be hope for you
after all and by the way, how stupid would I be if I answered? Hello shes a
mind reader!
Kahlan D'Rane: Yeah you do have a point there
(laughter) She's probably already fuming over the fact that you're talking to
me.
I looked at my watch.
Kahlan DRane: Oh crap, I gotta get back to that
remote place before Lord Recluse finds out I've ditched it. He's mad at me for
some reason...must not be that big of a deal since he didn't kill me. Nice
chatting with you on semi-friendly terms.
Manticore: Before you leave, heres my attempt to
go after bigger game for the day. What are you fighting for, Kahlan DRane?
When you can answer that, then youll know whose side youre on. In the mean
time, youre just another pawn.
