  1. I plan to make at least on destruction type. A beast that attcks everything in sight. I'd play him mostly in hazzard zones, and it might not work that well, can't group, have to challenge everyone I see to PvP combat, no matter their level, or maybe I'll ignore high level heros like the mobs do now . . .
  2. Glad I didn't put you on my ignore OnionGum, you seem pretty rational after all, I understand frustration at stuff. I understand the 4 colour wourld view too. Even in my 6 level scheme I can think of guys who don't really fit too. Just though, I would drop dead if Cryptic were to add in some major game changing thing like this anyway. Not that I doubt them, I think they rock! I just think it's a whole engine rewrite.

    As for enhancements not really meshing, ya, you're right, I only really looked at a few. It's just that the idea of something related to your origin makes sense, while one related to your motivation doesn't.

    Flash Bang = better accuracy, OK, no actual flash bang . . little goofy
    Roll of 100s = better accuracy. huh?!?!?

It seems like a hero started in Galaxy wil get missions to go to Atlas, but not the other way around . . . :/ It's like the contacts want you to know Atlas is where it's at! Put a tailor in there! Every made a new toon and one of the colours was the wrong shade, or wanted to change one thing? Run through SC you say?

    That's not a productive post. The others here a putting a lot of thought into this. Did you read the pleasant request in the original post not to flame the writer just criticise his ideas? You could return the courtesy or shut up yourself.(/flame)


    Here are my thots on the subject.

    Motivation instead of origin.
    Won’t work, origin is there solely for a basis for different Enhancements and role play.
    And the enhancements follow along those lines and make sense. What would a lvl 30 Damage increasing Money SO be? Doesn’t work. Motivation is just part of your character background.

    I think that changing sides would be awesome! There should be hefty penalty for changing sides.
    I thot of a couple things along this line.

    If the hero and villain power sets aren’t identical or close (all sets the same, some different powers) I can’t see changing working. (you were a claws regen mutant scrapper as a good guy now you’re a Machine gun / Power armour Thug?) It wouldn’t make sense to have different powers for good and bad guys, hopefully more come out with CoV tho!

    I think when you change sides you shouldn’t change level or lose anything, you should be stuck at the same level until you “figure stuff out”. Maybe some kind of level loss wouldn’t be bad tho. If the power sets are slightly different, maybe you need to get enuf xp to gain say 50% of what is required for the next level to switch each power that isn’t in the villain set. The offending powers would be a funny colour, and every time you reach this conversion level you can change one of those powers over. I have a feeling that the power sets will be the same, with perhaps different power levels? ie the Underminer (OK, best I could thin of for a villain defender) wouldn’t heal as wel as a defender but does more damage.

    One thing I would like to see, different levels of hero/villain. Not power levels, level of good/evil. I could see 6 different categories: Registered Hero/Vigilante/Mercenary/Beast/Criminal/Public Enemy

    The Registered Hero: Must abide by the rules of the City, fully supported by law enforcement and the Government(Justice League) All current heroes in CoH.

    The Vigilante: Fights against crime, using less than legal methods, decides himself who is bad. Some law enforcers want to arrest him, some support him. (Batman, Punisher) None in CoH.

    The Mercenary: Doesn’t care about right or wrong, only about getting paid. Usually wanted by the law for some past illegal doing, may be tolerated when doing good. (Hired for support during a major attack) (Can’t think of any examples for this) Are Sky Raiders in this category?

    The Beast: A super powered beast with the intellect of an animal. Sometimes does good, sometimes does bad. (Hulk . . . I think?) Law enforcement is trying to stop these guys from wrecking the city, even if there may be good results from their carnage.

    The Criminal: Not necessarily evil, just goes about getting what he wants by illegal methods. Does only petty crimes (relatively, theft as opposed to poisoning the nations water supply) so is not a high priority for the Law, but definitely on the other side. (The Rhino) Hellions, Skulls.

    The Public Enemy: Due to insanity, beast mentality, or an agenda at odds with the ruling government these villains cause mass destruction, wantonly kill, plot over throws of the government and generally dress the best. (Magneto, Dr Doom, Dr Octopus, Lex Luthor(Maybe Lex is an upper class Criminal, don’t know enuf to say)

    I’d love to see this, with some kind of hero/villain points determining your category, but at best I guess it would have to be in CoH2.

    I forget if the /nop needs quotes. It's the command to clear a bind, but I've never used it, so you'd better play around with it.

    As already gone into, some people with drawn weapons can sometimes do a bow-and-arrow pose by using the fancybow emote.

    I do not know how, when or why this happens, but it used to work with the bow emote and from what I've heard no longer does.

    Really? I'll have to go back and test your theory, I think it has to do with having an enemy targeted, even just the unconsious body, kind of like how you go into the combat stance instead of akimbo when there are enemies around. I still have the character with the katana.

    Certain weapon weilding characters will do that with the taunt1 action IIRC... if not then taunt2.

    You have to have the weapon in hand, even just hitting an attack that has a weapon when you aren't targeting anything, or the target is out of range will draw your weapon. Great for reducing the animation time of that first attack.

    Having the crouch emote would be cool, I have the same idea for an afk bind. Having the rest kneel work as an emote would be nice too. Great for the ninja style 'bow', too bad there are no ninjas in CoH tho, oh wait . . .

    The bind string is too long. When pasted in the chat prompt it truncates it messing up the file path for the bind_load_file part of the string.

    One thing you could do is use the shortest versions of the commands. Use l (L) for local, e for emote, and put your binds in the root of your drive, if you don't want to do that, there's a sneaky dos trick you could do.
    subst h: c:\COH\Binds\Secret_Identity\
    That will make the contents of your c:\COH\Binds\Secret_Identity\ folder show up as if they were in your h: drive! I can't recall whether it is persistent over reboots, I think so.

    Na-hah, I don't think so, these guys are form the Shard, at least one portal is staying open! Glad to see announcements it's gonna be a long fight! Oven in Japan we are ahead in the real world, but apperantly last shift in Paragon, guess us ninjas will have to finish off all the invaders you guys couldn't handle!

  9. You think you guys have it bad? I live in Japan. I was gonna log back in again last night at 12:30, I guess 10 am server time, guess it still wouldn't have been out yet . . . and I play on Guardian! And when I do get home my wifey won't be happy about me playing. Oh she's let me, but she'll keep asking for stuff . . . as it's not a major invasion I hope it lasts at least 24 hrs! We really need regonal servers . . . is it true Korea has a server? I wanna play on there! The daily downtime is my prime time!
  10. I can't beleive I wrote a long post and then didn't confirm it . . .

    Can't remember all I wrote now, I wanted to add that I read hover with 6 speed enhancements is as fast as base fly, with half the end use and a defense bonus and no acc penalty!

    Other major stuff I know was covered, so some minor stuff!

    You can change your costume before lvl20! Not sure if there is any minimum, I found out around 10. Just go to Icon and edit your original costume. Base cost about 500i. About 300i per change I think. I only changed my lense colour.

    You can see who anyone is targeting by hovering over them. Hero or mob.

    Tp Foe will bring the whole mob in your direction.

    When XP hunting, go for groups of mobs that are as high as possible, but that you can defeat without using to much endurance. Running low on end causes down time, high groups more risk, and too low fills up your enhancement slots with too many low ones = more shop trips/throw aways and less resell value. Low lvls are good for refilling inspirations though!

    You can cancel powers with the escape key. "OK snipe! Wait our tanker if AFK! Doh!

    Bind a key to "say Yes!" you're stunned, almost dead and someone offers you a tp, and "say No!" you and your purple target are almost dead, you have couple green inspirations, and your target is stunned and just about to give you the rewards of the kill and someone offers you a tp. If you can tp bind a key to "t $target Need a tp?"

    Those guys in Steel Canyon with the riot gear on aren't with the police . . .

    Enhancements that reduce effects are less effective the more you add. 1st SO enhancement will reduce 33%, 2nd 23% 3rd 15% and so on. ALTHOUGH, enhancing reducing debufs is actually adding to your powers effect.

    Don't create a new hero because of a bad power or 2 if you have got him/her over 10th, respec later!

    You can still lvl with debt

    You can do tons of cool stuff with bind! (as previously mentioned, even without making a lot of files)

    Your background will determin your main enemy! (if you hate Vahz, don't make a science origin!)

    Mobs of similar origin are more likely to drop DOs, SOs that you can use.

    Mortificators hate zombies (why else would they raise them to see them get beat up again?;D )

    If you bow with a katana in your hand you'll stab yourself through the chest. (though taking no damage!)

    Purple means your lvl +3 OR MORE! You may find drstically higher lvl mobs wandering around sometimes. Just to give people (the devs?) laughs I think.

    If you hold down the middle mouse button you can rotate the camera around your hero, grat for screen shots with the print screen key! Found in your coh folder's screens folder. Viewable (and convertible) with Irfanview (Google it) among others.

    The Teleport FAQ

    Some one posted about not being able to change fbutton+lbutton instead of lshift. It wouldn't be fbutton, it would be just f, but f isn't a cord key that works with the +, so you bound teleport to just your lbutton. Any time you click, tp.

    I wish that the hover wouldn't turn on when you are just above ground level. I always think I left hover on, try to turn it off, and end up hovering!

    There is a power in the controller gravity power set that brings all team members on the same map to your location.

    Team teleports best use? With the team mate stun at the end, good for getting back at a team that pissed you off.

    Group tp into group of very purples, tp out, quit team. (no, I haven't done this . . . yet)

    As for it's use in fleeing, power range is determined when the attack is launched, and damage seems to proceed the effect on long ranges, still tp is the best fleeing tool as you are instantly out of range. Speeders or flyers will probably get hit a couple more times while fleeing.
  12. I've read a lot of keybind forums lately. I'm sure I saw the answer somewhere for this, but can't remember.

    I know you can set the bind to active on key press or key realese, with something like +down -down. How does that work exactly?

    One problem I am having, is that my simple bind:
    c "powexec_name hover" that I use to toggle hover on and off double fires often on my nostromo keypad. I have all the main 14 keys on it mapped for the left side of the keyboard from shift diagonaly up to r. When I hit the c key on my normal keyboard it works fine. I guess the keypad is auto repeating. The result is hover turns on then off very quickly about half the time. I don't know if I can adjust the gamepad yet, so I figure mapping it to keypress (keydown) only might fix the problem. This happens for my sprint bind too.

    You have to have a weapon drawn (Assault Rifle, Sword, etc.), then type ;bow.

    I think that might not be true. I bound bow to a key for my katana scrapper, and a lot of the time she whould do a 'bau' (phonetic) with her sword piercing her torso. I think it happens when you have an enemy selected, when it becomes 'boh' as in bow and arrow. I thought it was random before, but it would happen 3 times in a row one time when I wanted to do the 'bau'.( Bow dammit!) It would be cool if the emotes were contextual.
