Geko, one question though.
Why does a heavy resist set (doesn't it cap out at what? 90?) like invul get a defense/accuracy boost with no real negatives, while an ice tanker has virtually no resists to speak of and is essentially no better than a SR scrapper in capibility?
And no matter how many times you stack EA, you could stack it 1000 times over and over again, there will always be a 5 percent chance to be hit, meaning we're no better than a well slotted SR scrapper with some gimmicky auras.
Stone is a nice mix of RES and Defense, and it's not game breaking, so why can't ice be similar or at least resist more status effects and toxic damage to make up for the gapeing holes in the set? (As of now, I can't think of any tanker set that resists or defends against toxic)
I think we deserve a slight bit of resist so we're not just a "oh we couldn't find an invul, stone tank, or fire tank, so you'll do" alternative.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ice has control, aoe knock up, single target hold, slow effects, end removal. And an PBAoE damage toggle.
Just as fire is more damage, less defense, ice is more controll less defense. As Invul has no secondary effects, best defense. The variety is there for a reason.
Most of the defense sets have toxic resist now. In their heal power for a set duration, or in one of the armours.
Wet ice resists all status effects except knock down/back, but I think no defense set gets that.
I know some ice tanks that do very well, a flopping knocking up enemy has no chance to hit you. Doesn't help for ranged though does it.
EDIT: No idea about new status effects on test . . . sorry, may be there, just not in the description. -
Seems like a lot of posts disapeared from this thread . . . there was an explanation of the snowball temp power, and a bunch more . . . strange
EDIT: never mind, just realized I am crazy, and can't delete a post . . . -
Thanks for the input Geko, could you explain this?
[ QUOTE ]
It accepts phase enhancements, but they do nothing. There is no magnitude increase, no duration increase, nothing. As far as I know there is no way to increase the duration of the power and it seems to ignore magnitudes altogether (quite unlike dimension shift from gravity control).
[/ QUOTE ]
When you said:
[ QUOTE ]
That means Enhancements will not increase the duration, but rather the Magnitude. What this translates to is the more Intangibility Enhancements you slot in, the higher rank and level foe you can affect, but the duration is constant.
[/ QUOTE ]
It seems the magnitude would be obvious, all the minions phased, the bosses not (sounds pretty usefull, 30 seconds to pound an AV with all the minions phased?)
And about the accuracy, is it possible that accuracy enhancements aren't working in the power, or do many villains have phase resistance? -

As a side note, if there was a Shadowrun MMORPG anything like the PnP RPG I may not be here . .

Its a pity that Microsoft has the rights but decides to do nothing with them...
*Edit* - If there was either a Fallout MMORPG or Shadowrun MMORPG I'm not sure I'd be here either (not that I dont love this game, but, well...).
[/ QUOTE ]
aMiSs has the rights huh . . . bugger, even if they did do anything don't think I would be into it then. Thats good though in a way. I love this game too, it would have been a tuogh decision, brobably would have played both . . . -
[ QUOTE ]
well i for one am really mad about this one of the really fun things i enjoy about this game is being able to help friends lvl quickly by doing these missions, its one of the only fun things left for a lvl 50 character
[/ QUOTE ]
I really don't get this. Hey new to CoH guy! I love this game, got y guy to 50 doing all these cool missions, task forces, completing story arcs, now I'll help you skip all that . . . -
[ QUOTE ]
(The first one I bring up cause somebody mentioned Shadowrun somewhere in here)
The tech contact for levels 30 - 40 is Holsten Armitage. Armitage is the last name of the player in the SNES incarnation of Shadowrun. At the time FASA owned the liscense to Shadowrun (its WizKids or FanPro now), and Jack Emmeret wrote a source book for them. And the setting of Shadowrun is a bleak future (and the contact is either "insane" or "from the future, a very bad future").
And I would bet the Crey is a nod to Cray Inc. (a company who builds high end super computers and is constantly creating more powerful electronics).
[/ QUOTE ]
That Shadowrun character has to be influenced by a character of the same name in Neuromancer, by William Gibson, the father of Cyberpunk. (and therefore in many ways Shadowrun's step dad, or more likely, SR is his illegitimate son) Armitage in Neuromancer is a man who was completely insane, withdrawn from the world who had his consciousness rebuilt by an AI. AIs and Cray also seem to match.
As a side note, if there was a Shadowrun MMORPG anything like the PnP RPG I may not be here . . . -
I guess your hover/fly switcher will be the easiest way to turn it back on, so to turn it off use
/bind anykey "powexec_toggleoff hover$$e salute$$powexec_name ice patch"
I pt the emote in there as sometimes you need ever so brief of a pause in there to allow the second power to activate. You could try it with out the "e salute$$" taken out first. -
[ QUOTE ]
People often pelt me with a snowball when I aggro and they aren't happy about it...What emote is that?
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be a temp power gained from killing snow men (Winter Lord, or WL, and his minions) during the Winter Event.
And I tried out my katana scrapper last night, and it is fancybow with weapon drawn. But its seems to be about a 50% chance to do the firing bow animation or the actually coutly bow. It DID 100% definately do it for the "bow" emote in the past! I had it bound! I swear! I'm not crazy!!! Well, not in the imagine things that aren't there way . . . well . . . things like that, that aren't there . . . never mind . . . -

Ok, i am kinda out of the know on the programing or whatevfer youc all it for computers. It is probably something un godly simple but here it goes...
What is a .txt file? I see people say copy this bind into a .txt file or whatever, but have no idea where this is and what it is.
Also you said the bind files are in the root of your c: drive ( i know this one) i loaded CoH in my f: drive. S is it still in my c: drive or in my F; drive?
[/ QUOTE ]
A txt file is a plain text file, you can edit them with notepad. It is it's default file format. Notepad is under programs, accessories, or you can get it by typing "notepad" into the run command or from the command prompt. You can make text file in explorer by right clicking, choosing New, then text document.
I believe the bind files can have any extension you want, or none. So binds.txt, binds, or hero1.binds should all be ok, as you can specify the file name in your load command. However, to ease editing them, the .txt extention is the easiest way.
Anyone know if it loads the binds from the C drive specifically, or from the %SystemDrive% variable?
I keep them on my game partition root, so I specify the path, easy that way.
/bind_load_file e:\basics.txt -

As an aside... why do people call Rio de Janeiro "the city of god" when it means "river of january"? im confuzzled!1one!11!BBQ

Dig deeper, January, from the word Janus, Roman Mythology, The god of gates and doorways. Guess they were Romans who called it that . . . -

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that many skuls will be killed.
Oh, and that tankers will decide once against that they are unplayable after a small change that's not all that significant.
[/ QUOTE ]
Good thing that everyone who makes snarky comments on tankers has actually played one, or tried to level one, huh? Can you imagine the impression you'd give people if you hadn't yet? So easy to comment on the outside... so brave, so funny, and so heroic!
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm, you seem to have some Rage issues, excuse the pun, looking at your posts, you as a player should want the game to be fun, yet you seem to take it way to seriously, and if you are one who wants a comic book tank, you expect to walk away from all battles without a scratch. Would comics sell if the heroes never had any challenges? I doubt it. I bet any hero you can hame has a cover with him lying there near dead, hi buttox royally wipped, even super man. I have a feeling issue 4 will see you still disappointed, and unable to have fun in what is really a fun game. I have fun just super jumping around!
I'm still with St. Patty's day for teh win! -

Finally use the BOW not fancybow emote before your toon relaxes with the weapon drawn.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry i was wrong it is the fancybow emote and not the regular bow emote...
[/ QUOTE ]
I know this definately %100 worked with the bow emote because my katana scrapper has it bound to a key. Haven't used her in a long time though. (fancy bow is not appropriate for a katana trained person while bow is) I'll have to log her in just to try this, if I remember . . . -

Probably would have worked on James Bond...
Statesman, on the other hand, has 6 slotted "willpower".

Hey hey HEY! Don't go underestimating Bond James Bond, he would get the girl, but he wouldn't give up the info, at least not the real stuff.

Oh, and I hear Update 4 is where the put the portal mission to a world where Skuls have taken over after mankind destroys Earth. Half the other villian groups end up with a world, why not them? :P
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybebecause they can't even take over Kings Row? And the fact that everyone wants to kil them now, I think that kids mission was kill 10 only guys. Not 10 million.
And to get back to the original topic, I guess March 17th, because it's Saint Patrick's Day, for no other reason than that, because the Irish rock! Why yes . . . my last name does start with O' . . . why do you ask?? -
And of course there will be a bunch of people complaining that the update didn't have what they wanted, that their AT/Powerset/Power is now nerfed and they they can't solo 10 +20 bosses any more and to let them and all the other rege . . er ATs that they favour play the game how they want to (not like how it is meant to be played, fixed dice anyone?) and then go off and complain in another forum how the game is too easy and that everyone who isn't what they are is gimped.
Funny how all these players with nerfed ATs are still running around solong huh. -

I'm guessing that Accuracy will be nerfed.

To quote the Joker in the movie Batman:

Can't let a Bill defense slip by, sorry for the thread jack . . . Loved the Joker reference. The joker and Bill might be pretty comparible if not for the fact that 1)the joker is insaine 2)the joker has intelligent creative plans 3)the Joker's plans are thwarted by active competition/adversity not his own incompetance
Check this out if you think Bill is charitible. Facts about Bill
And games that play on both Windows and Linux (Unreal Tournament 2003) run better under Linux on the same box. (OK, only tested on my one machine, but I'm a tech and both sytems were up to date driver wise, using the hardware I wanted, not purchased for Linux compatability) I wonder if we would need daily downtime if the servers were on a *nix OS. . .
Back to the thread . . . I think double woulf be too much, the smae price would be awssome, but I could handle 20/month I guess. We shall see what happens. -
How on earth did you find that out?
Ok, two word combos, left off yesterday with "paladinaverous", lets try "paladinawaken" . . . SUCCESS!
Got a lot of time on your hands? Or is that a power name for the kheldians? -

Can anyone here help me with a bind?
I'm trying to set up a bind that will...
1. select the target for attack
2. turn follow on
3. attack the target
What I have right now sort of does that.
/bind 1 "powexec_name divine avalanche$$follow"
The problem occurs that when I hit 1 again, it does the attack but ALSO turns follow off.
I tried the following:
/bind 1 "powexec_name divine avalanche$$follow 1"
but all it did was complain about me giving follow an arg when it requires 0 args.
Is there some way to force FOLLOW on when I press a button rather than toggle it based on its current state?
What I want is a one button solution that readies the weapon, turns on follow (each time I hit the button), and proceeds to attack one time.
Suggestions?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm, I do pretty much the same thing for my tank, but I have a target command in there and follow doesn't turn off, I guess changing targets resets the follow, even if it's to the same target.
I use:
/bind q "target_enemy_near$$follow$$powexec_name ice sword"
(think "Ice sword" may be wrong, but you get the idea, should be frozen scimitar or something) -
[ QUOTE ]
So how does everyone else see it?
[/ QUOTE ]
I know I can see statesmman's c drive. I keep moving th controller issue to the top of his to do list. He kept putting it down to the bottom, untill recently! Now its in the middle . . . -
No way around that. All commands ina bind happen pretty much simultaneously. So you can only activate one power at a time.
Although . . .
you could try /bind button5 "powexec_auto aim$$powexec_name build up"
This would set aim to auto fire, then launch build up, then aim would auto fire after wards. Of course then you would have aim set to auto fire. You could turn it off with another key just using powexec_auto with no power name after, or reset it to whatever you want your auto power to be. -

I want to bind Teleport to my 4'Th Mouse button, and to my 5'Th Mouse button I want to enter/exit Hover.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you do that you will stlill have to click your teleport target location.
SHould be:
/bind button4 "powexec_name teleport"
IIRC
To make the one clicker with a . . . mod key? (Alt, shift, ctrl, you hold while clicking) try:
/bind lcontrol+button1 "powexec_name teleport"
I think someone might correct me, can't check mine, I'm at work.
The effect is you hold down your left control key, then click with your mouse and you teleport where you clicked. -
All binders will want to know this, in issue 3 YOU CAN SPECIFY TO TURN A TOGGLE POWER ON OR OFF IN THE BINDS. Can't remember the details, think it's a different command, "powtoggle_name 1 sprint" I'm sure that it's not exactly right, but it should be cool! have one button to toggle on all toggles, not in one hit . . . may be some issue with that, but it has potential!
-
I think it's not limiting at all to have your origin partially determined. There is still the reasons why your characters parts became merged, why the particular Kheldian cam to Paragon. Characters linked to the CoH univers will be more fun to role play. I have an Eidolon, and a former Rikti support droid character, because of that the things happening in the game are more relevent to me. If I were to make a Neprunian Klazon interigator (Made it up) the chances of anyone else or the game itself actually meaning anything to my character are nil.
